excuse me, is anybody sitting here?
Speaker 2:sorry, this is taken sorry, welcome back to this. He's taken where I'm. Your host, rob miranda, got a brand new episode. No movies, but definitely movie talk in this episode. Um, it's just been crazy this past week, I would say. I haven't had a chance to go to the movie theaters because I've been pretty busy in chicago for another podcast convention, um, with my co-host and semi-producer, fernando jimenez what's up, guys?
Speaker 1:thank you for having me on again. This is like the fifth, fourth, sixth since the beginning of the time.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the podcast. This is probably your probably 10th.
Speaker 1:Honestly, I feel like you've been on a lot I'm not the most uh guests on here, but I've been on here a lot.
Speaker 2:You're probably definitely the top five between Brandon Cole, glenn and I don't know you might be top three.
Speaker 1:I might be top three.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you might be top three. We're going to be talking about what the convention we were in Chicago, but this is also a big week for movies just because CinemaCon has been going on in Las Vegas. Yeah, a big week for movies just because cinema con has been going on in las vegas. Yeah, had I known the turnout of this podcast convention.
Speaker 1:I wish I would have went to cinema instead.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, the whole. We went to um podcast convention back in january that we recapped in this video that we recorded in orlando and that was like a great episode and that was just a great week everything about that week was just really really good.
Speaker 1:Everything, literally.
Speaker 2:We went in there not knowing what to expect and, yeah, there were some disappointments, but overall it was a good trip.
Speaker 1:We learned a lot. I would rate it 10 out of 10 on that trip.
Speaker 2:Yeah, well, I think what helped that trip a lot, it was in Orlando. We went to Disney Springs every day.
Speaker 1:It was a vacation business trip and we learned a lot.
Speaker 2:We learned a lot. We made a lot of connections, so I think that definitely raised our expectations for this one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and we were let down, tremendously, tremendously, we were let down. The event really did not go at all how we thought, like literally at all.
Speaker 2:You know what I was going to say? This for the second half of the episode. Let's just go dive right into it.
Speaker 2:The event we um went to was podcast movement, yeah, and it's one that I think that's mostly in chicago, texas and dc and dc yeah and this is definitely more the business side of podcasting how to monetize, and not just equipment, but, like I don't know how to stream your podcast, where the pod fest that we went to in January was more on the creative side- yeah, and then it was more on the creative side and it also wasn't because we were like our biggest complaint about pod fest in Orlando was that it wasn't.
Speaker 1:There was not a lot of creative people, you don't I don't know if that makes sense Like we felt like we were like more of the content creators than anyone else there at pod fest, yeah, but than anyone else there At Podfest At Podfest, yeah. But what I liked about the one in January was that we saw people outside recording podcasts, making TikToks, kind of in their element. And then when we came to the Chicago one, I think the reason why we were so excited is because their marketing is way better than the one in January. So the event itself was like hyped up, it looked really cool, it has way more followers on their instagram page and when we get there, um well, the first night was like an award show yeah, we'll go through day by day and then yes, I think overall like it.
Speaker 2:It just did not meet the expectations no about it, kind of lame, like, like really was.
Speaker 1:I don't want to be mean, but it really was like it was lame, like I, we.
Speaker 2:If we had fun, it's because like we were having fun you know what I'm saying but like we didn't meet any nice people, it was very intimidating and I'm sure like people weren't there intentionally being like off putting uh we I wouldn't say we're underdressed, because we just wore like our regular clothes there's people in suits there, briefcases and the part that's so much like laptops, like yeah, every single person was on their laptop like what work are you doing right now?
Speaker 2:you're supposed to be making connections right and a lot of the same panels and the same booths. There. We're mostly the same as podfest yeah so it's not like we learned a whole lot there either. Yeah, it's true, we mostly went for the connections, but I think we gained two followers.
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, that was sad.
Speaker 2:I'm not even confident they're going to follow us by the end of the week so yeah, no, that was pretty sad. It was sad and Podfest was great. Like you said, it was more creative side and we definitely were the cool kids there 100%.
Speaker 1:This one we were the lame kids I wouldn't say lame.
Speaker 2:We were the outsiders.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we were the newbies. We were like the new kids.
Speaker 2:Yeah, this is a four-day long thing, starting on Monday all the way to Thursday, which we didn't even go the last day because we were just like this is kind of a bust.
Speaker 1:I was pretty upset I'm not going to lie Like when we went out to eat on the second day and like we wanted to go to like the after party, like I did want to go, and then I was like I don't want like rob to think that like I don't want to go. But then I was like bro, I was like we don't have to go, you know I didn't want to.
Speaker 2:I didn't want to be a buzzkill either.
Speaker 1:You know what I'm saying. I didn't want to be like we paid for this shit for nothing you know like I was thinking the same thing, though, but at the same time I'm like dude, like I don't care, at this point another difference between podfest and this one.
Speaker 2:Like we, um, we went to podfest for free yeah, that was.
Speaker 1:We got invited for free.
Speaker 2:That was awesome and then this one. We did pay pricey tickets, yeah, um. So let's go to day by thing, and I also want the second half of this podcast. It's gonna be a shorter episode. Uh, we're gonna be talking about some updates that came released on CinemaCon 2 that I found really interesting.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:So the first day it was a Monday we went to work the full day, because all that day really was was picking up our passes.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So we went straight from work and we were debating should we go home and change and? He's like all we're doing is picking up passes and we were just kind of seeing their vibe there.
Speaker 1:And for vibe with them. And for those you don't know, this was also taking place in mccormick place, the biggest convention center in the country.
Speaker 2:It's huge and it's so big like I didn't even know this part of the freaking convention center was there yeah, there was parts that I've never been to or knew that existed so, um, it's like a freaking. You've seen, have you seen severance? No have you seen like references or clips of it, like the long white?
Speaker 1:oh yeah, that's exactly how it was to get in there.
Speaker 2:We had to go through so many hallways just to get to this giant convention center. So we get there and, um, we did able to go pick up our passes, which is in this very cool bar area.
Speaker 1:Yeah that was really cool.
Speaker 2:That was the coolest part, probably I wish we could have explored that a little bit more. So we picked up our passes and then we went into the actual convention center where we went to go see everybody and look it up. And it happens we didn't really know until the day of that there was an award show for podcasts the Ambies.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Which we're going to get into a big announcement in a second about your podcast. So we went in there and it was very cool. We had it registered in there, we got wristbands and everything like that, and I'm assuming you don't have to submit your podcast to this thing because you were nominated.
Speaker 1:Yeah, man, it was very unexpected. Thank you to the academy, for I think it was really cool because, like I mean, I haven't uploaded an episode in like a month we're talking about a little shy more than a month. You know what I'm saying, but I guess, uh, it's made a big impact on that short time and because you were nominated for best interview podcast, yeah yeah, with like top contenders too.
Speaker 2:I can't remember off the top of my head yeah, neither can I but literally besides your podcast, I haven't heard anyone's podcast on this panel. So we go there. It's like a legit war show. It was streaming, live streaming. I don't know if you can go in there and find it again.
Speaker 2:I haven't tried to yeah, I haven't tried either from the actual live stream, because I'm assuming that big screen was like what everyone saw at home. It looked way bigger and cooler than what it looked like the oscars, almost but you know what that's what like award shows are meant to do.
Speaker 1:So when I went to um the billboards like I didn't get to go to the actual award show because I had to come back, but um speaks and my other friends that I met there, they were telling me that it's pretty much staged so they make you sit like up front and then when anybody some, whenever someone's going to win an award, they have seat fillers yeah so then when they're like, let's just say, like a band of like 20 people or like grupo frontera, let's say there's like six of them, right?
Speaker 1:so when they're going to go up, they make sure that someone is sitting in their seats when they're going to go in, so that it doesn't look empty, so that their seat fillers they push them up to the front so it makes it look way bigger on camera than it really is.
Speaker 2:I talked about this before. What an awesome job to have a seat?
Speaker 1:yeah, that'd be cool.
Speaker 2:You're sitting next to different celebrities the whole hour.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and pretty much like the the nicer you look, the closer you are to the front. That's pretty tight. That's pretty tight. It's a real thing, bro. Look into it um.
Speaker 2:So I want to talk because this is, to me, the coolest part about the whole trip the ambis yeah and the ambis. Like I said, it's a podcasting award. They had a uh famous comedian. I thought she was famous, like a lot of people there haven't heard of her I mean she is famous take take what's her name I don't even know her name, right, I didn't?
Speaker 2:she kind of reminds me of ellen degeneres she gives that vibes, but I did see her in an episode of the Office. This is how I mostly know her. But she is a comedian. She has her own podcast. She's done several specials and I think I have her on a couple shows Smaller scale.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:But she carried the whole show. She was very funny. Yeah, she was funny she was a good host. And and I yeah, I liked it just for that. So throughout the whole podcast awards ceremony, like there was podcast categories, I realized there was a lot more like storytelling podcast thing, Like yeah, like reenactment, like, like it's almost like you're watching a television show, but with through the podcast. Yeah, and those were a lot of the categories I was feeling like.
Speaker 1:I didn't even hear. I like there was a lot of podcasts that I didn't even know about, but, um, I guess there was like whenever some people would win, like people would clap like really loud for people. And there was also, like even some podcasts that won that like didn't have a big following, which that was really cool, like the, the one that it was like a kid's news show. Yeah, you know it didn't have many followers, but still, like I think well, because the academy is the one who picks, you know, which I thought was pretty cool, which you wanted to be a part of.
Speaker 2:Well, they, they did offer, like at the end, like a qr code, like you can sign up to be a part of the academy.
Speaker 1:But then I think I looked, saw like you gotta pay to be a part of the academy no sense I was like I'm good on that yeah, I'm trying to be the one getting paid right exactly, I'm trying to be the one nominated, like I was gonna go in there, nominate myself and then there's also, like the podcast I listen to are comedy podcasts.
Speaker 2:That's my favorite ones yeah and there's only like one category that, and of course are big celebrities like conan o'brien's um.
Speaker 1:I'm surprised, jake johnson, I'm surprised those were nominated only because I I thought it would be like just a completely different category. How are you going to put someone who has millions of followers with someone?
Speaker 2:who has maybe hundreds? They didn't even win.
Speaker 1:Yeah, which is?
Speaker 2:weird. I think they did that on purpose, because one it's obvious they're not going to show up.
Speaker 1:Which is how you could. Yeah, because, like I said, they're Academy picks so you can go up against. I don't even think it's about stats. I think it's more on just what they feel is best yeah, 100.
Speaker 2:Uh, because I love conor bryan's podcast and there was also smart list with uh, jason bateman, sean hayes and uh, I'm shoving me nuts. I'm sorry I forgot his name, but it's a very funny interview podcast that I listen to every week, um, and we get to your category the best interview podcast. Yeah, which listen to every week, um, and we get to your category the best interview podcast yeah which even like as ourselves, like we're listening to all these categories, I was like I don't even think we could fit into most of these categories.
Speaker 1:No, like, no. Well, you know what I mean. I obviously fit into the interview one yeah there was. There was a hollywood one, wasn't there? Wasn't there like a movie one? There was a one something like that, but like but other than that, out of like the 20 categories like yeah there were some people who were nominated more than once. It's like we only had like one opportunity to be nominated, you know and that's on top of that, like um.
Speaker 2:Almost every single podcast that was nominated was backed up by a big studio yeah, they were like spit, what was that big sponsor npr npr.
Speaker 1:Amazon um yeah, all that stuff which we're independent.
Speaker 2:We do literally everything ourselves which is why isn't it great quality?
Speaker 1:is that what indie?
Speaker 2:what is indie means independent um, yeah, yeah, but I'm assuming there was a category the best independent podcast where it's like a staff of four or lower okay, and we're, definitely, we're literally do everything ourselves and that's why I don't know one day, like I honestly, like after that first day, I was like all right, I kind of want to make it a goal of myself to be nominated.
Speaker 2:And I looked into it. There's a lot of podcasts, yeah, award shows, oh yeah. Yeah, the ambis is just one of them, but like you didn't have a celebrity in there but also the same time I was the only one in the whole audience, I felt like who knew this guy? John?
Speaker 1:cryer, but now that you mentioned him, like he is pretty, he's really popular though john cryer is.
Speaker 2:Um, he plays alan on two and a half men. He's also ducky in 16 candles. Uh, he's a lex luther in the cw shows. Yeah, to me, I love him. He's hilarious, I like him a lot, and I was 10 feet away from him. I really didn't want to go up and say hi, but you don't want to be that guy I? I don't know he did. He was talking to people but, like I'm sure, like some of his people, he knew.
Speaker 1:But he did come out there and present a few awards too, which is very cool yeah, because, like when, when we, when the award show ended, we went to like the very, very front. That's where, like all, like the celebrities yeah, we're bigger bigger podcasters were at and they were all like mingling and I each other, yeah, and I didn't want to be like cut in front of them. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:Like if you see like two popular people talking, you don't want to like go and also we were underdressed for this too, like people thought this was the oscars, that's all yeah, there was like people who were like really dressed up, like there was like guys and like really nice suits, girls, and dresses and heels, and then like we weren't underdressed, it was business casual yeah, we were from work exactly, so I was wearing like a sweater and some and I was wearing like a dirty flannel emphasis on the dirty.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so that was the first day there we left.
Speaker 2:We got home like around 8, 30, 9 o'clock that night yeah um, I guess there was like a party or like I don't know about a party, but like everyone we saw at the award show, we didn't see throughout the whole week nope, like they literally came, collected their awards and did and did I I followed john cry. I looked on his instagram to see maybe he posted something about it. Didn't even post anything about it so that's all you know. Like he didn't give a fuck about this yeah, I followed that twitch streamer.
Speaker 1:Uh, I think it was caroline the like korean the korean or japanese whatever, she was fun, yeah, I don't think she was at the at the fest anymore.
Speaker 2:They were like I said, they were just there for the award show yeah, and after that anybody who was at the conference was like for marketing purposes or networking so cut to the next day, and the biggest thing that caught our attention was, like every morning there was a coffee hour with Netflix.
Speaker 1:Bruh.
Speaker 2:And we thought Netflix executives or producers or somebody was going to be there.
Speaker 1:I don't even think Netflix was there. They knew how to market that event. I'm telling you that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and all this was like, yeah, you get a free coffee, but all it was like a Netflix sleeve for your coffee. Other than that, it's just people trying to sell you shit yeah.
Speaker 1:So the event was and, like I said, they titled it very, very well says come grab some coffee with netflix. You know what I'm saying like. So I'm thinking like, dude, netflix is going to be there, I think. I'm thinking they're going to have like movies in the background there's going to be people like talking and networking, which there like was, but like not a lot, like not. The expos at the one in January were way better.
Speaker 2:I thought that we were confused on what Netflix has to do with podcasts.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I guess Netflix does podcasts now. I guess, yeah, so pretty much it was titled Netflix and Coffee, but the only thing Netflix had to do with it was they probably paid for the coffee.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's it Probably. Other than that, like All the booths were like, well, I produced my podcast to buzzsprout and, uh, it was just people hosting like that, like buzzsprout pages.
Speaker 1:There was um, npr, uh, the red circle there was a lot of companies that I had never heard of yeah, which isn't bad.
Speaker 2:It was cool that they were there, but I was like, why would I want?
Speaker 1:to switch exactly. You know, yeah, but yeah. So that's how we started our day. Well, this is the highlight of the day was that, since we were going to chicago back and forth, we were like you know what, let's make fun, let's make some fun out of it, let's go to a new coffee shop every day so we did, we did that.
Speaker 2:Uh, we got us went to like a mexican coffee shop in the beginning. Uh, the first day I can't remember what it was called so it was called.
Speaker 1:It's either called el or la. It's la malinche, which is. I don't know what that means. I think it means like aztec or indian or something like that it's a cool mexican owned yeah and themed yeah, restaurant which we got a cool bagels from too.
Speaker 2:And then the second day we went to this very, very hidden spot what was it called?
Speaker 1:okay. So I actually meant to send you this post. I didn't send it to you. So this spot is called hero coffee and it is literally downtown chicago, but it's hidden. It's like in a little alleyway. So that building like because you know how it's like a little alley, yeah, so that building there is from before the chicago fire, so that used to be like a farm and then that was one of the buildings that did not burn down, so that building itself, in the middle, that's the coffee shop. It's literally like the size of this room which was like 10 by 10 yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:So like you go in there and you just order your coffee and your food and you leave and it's super cool, super aesthetic, um, and then they built buildings around it, but in the middle it's that's still from like, from like the shit, like the 30s or the 20s and stuff like that, so I'll send you the screenshot about that. But it's really cool. It's called hero coffee. We had, uh, one of their popular lattes called a teddy gram latte really, really good. Today we're drinking whole foods.
Speaker 2:I've got this guy on coffee, I know I was never coffee before I started working with you, no, um, so we did that. And also, like you know, there was different panels you can go to and listen to, like. Like I said, we already knew a lot of the information we knew maybe like two panels that we were kind of like learning.
Speaker 2:It was mostly about video editing, videoing. But the cool thing about this, like this giant stage room, there was three different stages and you can sit in front of whichever one you want, but there was three different speakers. So to avoid like you can't understand it because you're hearing somebody next to you or just overlapping, like that they give every single person in their headphones.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And you can change the channel to hear a different speaker. So if you want to sit in for this one, like it's monetizing your podcast, or this one is like getting new followers or something like that, you would just change it.
Speaker 1:And the colors of the headphones would change from blue, green or or, yeah, red. So for those of you guys who like have been to like music festivals, it's like a silent disco. So you could like put on headphones and you just like. If you want to listen to, like whatever dj like yeah green, red, blue you just put it on and then you're just like it was cool, it was really cool because we're like one. One speaker would be boring, and then you would be like yeah, listen to the next one.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was. That was a cool aspect of it, but we were our badges to get in through. Everything was labeled as creators and that's like the lowest, I guess, tier of everything.
Speaker 1:Yeah, which is crazy, because at podfest was there only one pass, it was just creator pass, right?
Speaker 2:no, there's creators and other things, but like, at least that got us in everywhere. You can go to everything, like anybody can go to anything there yeah this one, like we got turned away, but now you guys are just creators, which is wild to me because, like I guess maybe because like creators they say, like are the face of the podcast, and because we do everything like we thought we would. But you know what?
Speaker 1:so, out of all the, I've only been to a couple events, but the podfest one, the creator one, that pass could get you anywhere. And then there was also, like sponsors, like people who were working there yeah and then at this one, the creator pass was like the lowest pass you could get almost anywhere, except for some panels, and then everybody else had like, uh, sponsors or media or like brands and stuff like that. You know, which I thought was crazy?
Speaker 2:because we didn't see a lot of creator passes, we saw more like business ones or whatever yeah, and, like you said, it was just so hard to make connections everyone seems so unfriendly there and then I was like I'm gonna try the justine uh, justine uh approach, like fail for those who don't know. Like how I made friends with justine there, who's been on this podcast for the mental health episode. I was like that that teacher sucked right and I just nearly started dogging on this person and then, yeah, that was right, it's like I tried it again.
Speaker 1:Nah, it did not work like this person was like no, everybody, I'm trying to listen. I was like, yeah, for real. Yeah, she's like I'm actually trying to listen and I was like so we just walked away, yeah everybody was just like and there's nothing wrong with being professional, obviously, you know, but it just was not our vibe, like I really thought that I was going to be like making tiktoks and taking pictures and no like also podfest had like a lot of things outside like we were playing ping pong in the freaking lobby.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and we made so many friends and this one like had nothing going on no, they had coffee there and the coffee wasn't even that good.
Speaker 2:No, she was ass, yeah. So then, um, the day we started the day like around at the actual convention, maybe like 10 o'clock, states like 2, 33 o'clock at the latest yeah and I said we had more fun than ourselves because we went out to eat every day Like we went to Chinatown had a great dinner. Man, that show was so good. Shout out Byway. Because we went out to Byway to try out their new menu in Hammond.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:And then we didn't even bother going the last day.
Speaker 1:We didn't even bother going in Well, so I'm glad we didn't go the last day. It would have been nothing.
Speaker 2:And, like you said, there was parties at the end of each night. Shout out Wally Green.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:Because one of the who we met at PopFest, one of the after parties to get together was at his club that we met him and he had a Kia's ping pong clubs throughout the whole country and one's in Chicago when his after party was there and it's just the ping pong bar you in one chicago, when his after party was there and it's just the ping pong bar, like you just go play ping pong.
Speaker 2:That's a pretty cool flex, like oh yeah I know the owner and then we were gonna go but, like you said, we're just tired and like weren't feeling it. I was like do we really want to hang out with these people even more?
Speaker 1:that we don't like yeah and we didn't go and we've seen tiktoks and reels of um the actual party afterwards and it looked lame as fuck yeah, it looked really lame so we're kind of glad we didn't go um, in which I would like to go to the club eventually, yeah, but um, yeah, we didn't go the same thing with, like, there was the get-togethers at the bar afterwards and if, whoever you come with there, that seemed like who everyone was just talking to I'm glad you said that, yeah, because I didn't see other people trying to mingle or network, because and I hate comparing it to the other one in January, but in January if we saw one of our friends talking to someone else, we would join and introduce ourselves, or vice versa, people would come and introduce themselves to us.
Speaker 1:And here it's like we try to do the strategies that we did at the other one. We went to the bar and I think that because the convention center was so big, we didn't know if those people were here for the, the podcast convention, or if they were just there for like, regular work yeah, you could another convention going on too right next door.
Speaker 1:Yeah so you really couldn't tell the difference which. And in, uh, podfest in orlando, everybody was there for podfest. So you know, whenever you networked, you know they were there for that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, um were pod fest. So you know, when you never you networked, you know they were there for that. Yeah, um, anything like me, the people at the bar people were just there for lunch, like I didn't want to interrupt them while they're eating, you know yeah, and then, like you had to like to sit down, you can't just like sit down and also like I brought business cards to the pod fest.
Speaker 2:No one was even exchanging cards or maybe like a couple, a couple people yeah, we did get a car for one podcaster, but um she had like over 30k followers like she didn't need us. She don't need us, bro. Yeah, I hadn't followed her. No, I'm joking are you. So that, um, it was kind of a bust honestly, and I think we said like the first day there I was like I'm honestly good on these kind of conventions for a minute, maybe if we get invited again to podfest next year I would go to that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was thinking that too. I'm done with going to events like this. I do have some more planned out, but I mean I'm just trying to do something else instead.
Speaker 2:Well, on top of that, we knew all this information. We could honestly have spoken at this thing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, the only reason why we went was because we were excited to network. We were excited to meet other people, to gain more followers, to maybe. I think that the biggest thing that we were excited for was that we were going to be like hey, like maybe we can meet people from the Chicago area, yeah, and then we could start bringing them on our podcast or we can be guests on their podcast. So that that would have really helped us expand here, Because I mean, in Indiana dude, I mean besides me and you, I'm trying to think of someone else who has a podcast he's just his friend oh yeah, but like less than five people, you know yeah
Speaker 2:like for sure, less than five people and part of the reason why I was excited to go to this too. There's this guy who reached out to me, who wanted to start his own podcast, and I was gonna take him with us to like, so we can learn together I'm glad he did not come with us.
Speaker 2:I know we did talk about big game, like trying to get a lot of people from podfest to come out there with us and I'm glad they didn't show up because I would have been a waste of money for them yeah, I would have felt terrible.
Speaker 1:We could have showed them around chicago, which would have been cool, but yeah, and it's rainy ass weather but the weather kind of was ass yeah but if we do get invited to go to orlando for free again, I think I would think about it and, like I said, we would make it into a vacation.
Speaker 2:And then, since we already know a lot, like I said, like it was in disney springs too, like we, every night we were there in disney springs doing something, or like universal. You know, it was a fun experience I missed that. Definitely like top moments um, and the same exact week this week at cinema con as we're recording, this just finished up. And um, I kind of wish I went there.
Speaker 1:It was in vegas that would have been dope and dope. You got to do some events like that, like actual movie events.
Speaker 2:I know there's this festival that I wanted to go to in September. It hasn't been announced when or where. Well, I know it's in Texas, but I don't know where yet. But CinemaCon. For those of you who don't know, it's a big convention where a lot of movie theater studios, movie studios go through and either announce new movies that they're working on or they give deeper looks into Superman. James Gunn came out there and spoke. These other big movies give a deeper dive. I just want to share with you some of my biggest anticipated lists that came through Spider-Man 4, Tom Holland. They announced the release date, which is going to be 2026. I want to say may excuse me, I didn't write it down, but may 2026 that sounds about right.
Speaker 1:They always come out in may may is avengers doomsday.
Speaker 2:I believe it's in july. Towards the end of july it's coming out. I'm excited for spider-man 4. There's a lot of theories out there right now it's going on. Um he's also. He hasn't been officially confirmed to be in Avengers Doomsday but it's anticipated it is going to come out soon.
Speaker 1:That's actually really exciting for Marvel One more.
Speaker 2:Spider-Man news. Spider-man Beyond the Spider-Verse finally has a 2027 release date, and it is very far away from now, which is only two years. The last one came out in 2023, and people are bitching about that, but they said the reason it's pushed back one one, of course, the strike that happened. Oh, yeah 2024, but two like they want to elevate the animation which is insane.
Speaker 1:I was just gonna say how can you elevate something that's already so? They released a couple still images of it and it looks tight, it looks very cool, very cut there's like a lot going on in the images too, like there's like the character and in the background there's a bunch of stuff.
Speaker 2:It's going to be insane, but it's also putting a lot of pressure on the movie itself to do very well.
Speaker 1:I think it'll do good those movies. I've only seen the first one, but you haven't seen the second one, no. What the hell, Dude? You know I'm not a movie guy, man.
Speaker 2:That second one, I mean. It's anticipated to be the one of the greatest trilogies of all time really the second one's fantastic. The first second one, animation was even better than the first one, I felt like maybe I'll download it and watch it in my car yeah, this guy is watching movies.
Speaker 2:He he hacked his car and I was watching movies in his dashboard as he's driving, told him it was a bad idea, so if anything happens in the future, it's on record that I told him not to do this. I hate you. I know you're not a John Wick fan, but John Wick animated prequels coming with Keanu Reeves involved. There has been talks like this like same thing with Creed Michael B Jordan like an anime spinoff coming of it Interesting concept. Jordan like an anime spinoff coming of it interesting concept. I I mean keanu like I'm sorry, john wick seems like a better way to introduce anime into this. Uh, it's cool. It's cool like when the first john wick comes, he's already listed a badass like the best of the best.
Speaker 2:So to see a prequel with that, it's incredible. I know you haven't seen the john wick movies. The fourth one has led to you believe that he's dead. Like he just dies, Like he falls over and dies.
Speaker 1:We're on three right now. Right, we're on the last one that came out was four. So four he dies, Supposedly. There's also a spin-off, Supposedly.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it looks like he dies, like he gets shot, a like falls over and then it ends yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2:I should watch it, and there's a spin-off, the ballerina with anna de armas coming out this year and it shows he's already in the trailer, so obviously he didn't die. And even to confirm he didn't die, we're also getting a john wick five coming out. I mean, it's not shocking that they're gonna make this movie just because it's making them a lot of money, and why would you stop that? That's true. But I mean, if they're going to make this movie just because it's making them a lot of money, and why would you stop that?
Speaker 1:That's true, but I mean, if they're good, I guess keep going, because I think Fast and Furious was good up until like 7.
Speaker 2:No, 5 was good, 5 was a stretch and, speaking of that, like we should be getting updates on that next movie anytime soon. You've seen the last one, right?
Speaker 1:I've seen all of them. Part 2? Yeah. That's the one that's coming out right. What is it Fast?
Speaker 2:I don't know 10 or 11. I gave up on those movies, but it's.
Speaker 1:Part 2, though right, Because the first one was Part 1.
Speaker 2:Was it? I don't remember that you're a big hunger games fan, but sunrise of the reaping sunrise on the reaping is the next hunger games movie coming in 2026 what number is that on?
Speaker 1:four or five yeah because I've seen the first one pretty good the first one that came out like we were in middle school.
Speaker 2:I remember watching that in middle school class.
Speaker 1:You can click all because of the book, right, yeah?
Speaker 2:yeah, the beatles cast announced all four movies are coming in april 2026. Four different movies coming out april 2026, that's a lot. I don't know how that's gonna look, if it's gonna be like an hour and a half long movie or a 45 minute long movie, or why not just make it one big movie. If it's gonna be different perspectives on each of the band member, that would be intense. But to come out four different movies the same month, that's insane. I'm excited for that. I don't know if it's gonna come out the same week or one a week weekly.
Speaker 1:Maybe is this gonna be like the actual movie or the disney plus thing, or is that different?
Speaker 2:that's just different.
Speaker 1:This is gonna be an actual movie where the cast is I don't know how I feel about that, because you're asking for the people to like, you're asking for them to do a lot and I mean you're, you're gonna want as much success on each movie. You know, yeah, the first one, obviously I feel like it's gonna do the best and I'm just going off of time uh, you know people are tired of the beatles.
Speaker 2:I mean some diehard fans, which they are great, I love the beatles, uh, but four back to back it's kind of much. That's a lot. I mean beetle fans who are diehard are gonna love that month, but to me I was like even like imagine if marvel dropped four movies in april, like they would not do amazing? I don't think I don't know how big of a video game fan you are, but the zelda live action is movie is planned for March of 2027. That's going to be good, have you ever played?
Speaker 1:Zelda? No, I thought Zelda was a. Zelda is the princess right.
Speaker 2:No, isn't he like the elf with the queen? I thought his name was Link oh, I don't know, I think I think zelda is.
Speaker 1:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think zelda is a princess and the dude with the sword his name is link oh well, I don't fucking know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you have a second guess of myself now, uh, final destination bloodlines is coming. September 2025, our friend uh seabass yeah, who's a big? Fan of this movie. He reviewed the first one with me on this podcast. Um, he's excited for this. I'm excited for it's a different concept a little bit. It's changing things up and it's gonna be more gruesome than the previous ones, I feel like more gruesome yeah, extended previews of james gunn's superman movie was shown ahead of a minecraft movie screening.
Speaker 2:I've seen the trailer. Because it's not released online, I'm more excited to see this movie now. A lot of people are kind of tired of DC and stuff like that. This is James Gunn's attempt to bring Superman back to the big screen. And then people get excited. Even the music alone got me excited for the Superman movie. I love Superman. I think he's hated on a lot for no reason.
Speaker 1:I'm not a fan. People prefer.
Speaker 2:Batman. But there's nothing wrong with superman. He's a bad he's.
Speaker 1:He is the ideal hero he just does not give, I think someone wants badass from a superhero and he just doesn't give badass vibes no, he's, he's. Well, then again then again also like tom holland, he's not badass, but I don't know he's.
Speaker 2:I've seen pictures of him in the odyssey.
Speaker 1:He could change soon yeah, but no, I get what you're saying. I'm definitely not a superman guy this might change you.
Speaker 2:I hope well. A big thing that's gonna be changing people's minds crypto we've seen more we've seen we've seen more uh footage of crypto. Have you seen? Have you seen trailer yet? Yeah, like of crypto, like playing with him, like as he's down, and stuff like that I've only seen the first trailer okay, I'll show you the second one after this, but it looks fun yeah, it looks fun. That's what it's meant to be a fun superhero movie with. I mean, I heard comparisons to like guardians okay, galaxy, that's a good comparison yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Well, obviously, because, like it's jim gunn he did the guardians of galaxy yeah what's next? Um a new, extended look at jurassic world rebirth unveiling during the universal presentation. Do you know the read not redoing, but the continuing jurassic world I hate that movie. That first two of the trilogy with chris pratt were great. The third one kind of sucked. But this one's gonna be like years later I don't know how far in the future later but they're going back to the island like, why, like?
Speaker 1:just nuke the fucking planet. Nuke that island there was one that I saw, I forget. I don't know which one. It had to have been three. I wanted to walk out, yeah so bad?
Speaker 2:uh, five nights at freddy's 2 arrives exclusively, exclusively, in theaters this december. Have you seen the first one?
Speaker 1:have you played the video game?
Speaker 2:nope, have you seen footage?
Speaker 1:I know what it is, though, but with a giant animatronic teddy bears, it's not my cup of tea my girl and me we've been watching this.
Speaker 2:Like she's into streaming, like, uh, watching people stream and her favorite streamer was doing the uh five nights of freddy games. Everyone watched it. It looks fun. It's kind of ridiculous, though. The game concept, uh, this specific game, not the first one, um, and a lot of people hated the first one, the movie the movie version, like it was loosely based on it. It wasn't exactly um it's not animated, right I mean cgi a little.
Speaker 2:I mean it's practical, they are wearing suits. Yeah, how to Train your Dragon live-action remake trailer number two went down in a storm, a sequel already in the works. Have you seen how to Train your Dragon? I've never seen those.
Speaker 1:I've never seen it either, but I've heard really good things about that movie.
Speaker 2:And the live action trailer looks amazing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I saw how they did the comparison in the trailers, like the animated one and the live action one. They're nearly identical.
Speaker 2:So I mean with these live action movies, a lot of times they try to change the way they look, to make it more realistic in our world, and we learned from Sonic Like no.
Speaker 1:Dragons are not real. I mean no, no, no, no, just kidding, like the scaling and everything, yeah yeah, yeah, shut up, don't do that to me, don't do that to me.
Speaker 2:But we learned from Sonic Dude just make it look like how it is in the cartoon. We love that version. Yeah, exactly, and that's exactly what they did with this one.
Speaker 1:And there's talks of other live action Like they switched Stitch. Remember the first Stitch was really ugly.
Speaker 2:That was a rumor, that wasn't even real. Oh, I thought it was real.
Speaker 1:They were like let's change it, just how we did with Sonic.
Speaker 2:No, that was a rumor that wasn't real. In this upcoming movie. But I mean Snow White I just reviewed and those dwarves look weird as fuck. I still haven't seen it. No, not a lot of people have. It's one of the biggest flops of the year so far.
Speaker 1:Poor girl.
Speaker 2:Nah, no, I was very sympathetic in my review for her and I kind of regret doing that because she kind of deserved it Really yeah.
Speaker 1:First footage from wicked part two shown to attendees have you seen the first one? I still gotta watch the first one. I've heard a lot of uh good things about it it's good.
Speaker 2:It's good um. If you're a musical theater fan, you would love it yeah, I thought it was okay, I never wanted to go see it again. I think to me personally it's overhyped a little bit. I heard people like left crying that's kind of ridiculous yeah but um, it did get me excited for part two coming out though because, like.
Speaker 1:It's obviously not a finished story I'll put it on my car too, which I think it's the show.
Speaker 2:I think it's streaming on peak right now. If anyone wants to watch it, okay. Uh, the next james bond film is set to be a fresh, exotic new chapter which means it's probably not going to be a white guy who throws in the word exotic in anything. That's true. That's true, glenn Powell. And Edgar Wright presents the first look at the Running man remake. Never even heard of the Running.
Speaker 1:Man. No, what is that?
Speaker 2:I don't know. Remake never even heard of the running man. No, what is that? I don't know. I'm probably gonna hate, because my dad hates anything when I say like I never heard of this movie you know his childhood movies scream 7, sonic 4 and the legend of ang the last airbender coming in 2026. Have you seen the animated version of um?
Speaker 1:yeah, last airbender? Uh no, I never. I was never a fan of that show, but I know a lot of people really liked it. I I'm a Scream fan though.
Speaker 2:Scream fan. Yeah, I like Scream. Uh, that's what Jen Arteaga, I believe she's coming back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I liked, like the first Screams a lot. Did you see Sonic 4?
Speaker 2:I have never seen any. I've never seen any Sonics, but it's on my bucket list I they're good. If we were kids I could see us liking them a lot more.
Speaker 2:They were entertaining. James Magnol I'm sorry for forgetting his name. He plays Cyclops in the X-Men. He was in those movies. I like him a lot. He's a great actor. Sue Storm is pregnant. In the Fantastic Four first steps they showed an extended trailer for the new fantastic four movie. I remember I told you the other day it's four, four yeah, yeah, did they do it? No, no I think the images of some things, but the trailer has yet to come online you got better ideas than the whole company.
Speaker 1:That would have been cool and that wasn't my.
Speaker 2:I like to take that credit, but it wasn't me. It was like a big fan theory that yeah that would have been cool though. I think they didn't do that just because it was happening during CinemaCon.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:That makes sense. The first Avatar Fire and Ash footage shown from the live action Avatar with the blue Avatar wounds. The third one footage has been shown to already and that's supposed to come out, I believe, this year.
Speaker 1:that's pretty quick because I feel like those movies take a long time so it's come out last year oh really.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the whole strike thing pushed it back. Uh, predator badlands will have a predator as one of the heroes.
Speaker 1:Don't like that no no a lot of people really like those movies.
Speaker 2:No, I like the movies. I don't like the Predator being a hero. Oh yeah, that's kind of weird, yeah. And the last thing I got is first footage of Tron Eras shows light cycles in the real world.
Speaker 1:I've never seen the first one either but, last time I went to Disney, I was not able to go on the ride. Do you like that movie?
Speaker 2:I've never seen that movie either.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:I remember watching the trailer when it came out. I think disney is trying to make it a bigger deal than what it is, because I didn't care.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think the reason why they're trying to push it is obviously. I think the ride has a lot to do with it. I think it's probably one of the biggest rides at disney right now and so far, disney has made a lot of changes this year.
Speaker 2:I'm excited, I'm excited. I think villains world is something that's coming I think it's gonna.
Speaker 1:I think all that will be like if you visit disney within the next two years it'll be a completely different disney most, which is probably why I'm not going this year um, I think they're replacing cars land no, they're, they're replacing, they're making.
Speaker 1:I think they're making cars land, or I don't know. Actually I could be wrong I don't know um. Also, universal is making big changes this year too yeah, which is cool because there's a lot of people who go on vacations a lot, so it gives you a different experience yeah, I'm trying to keep it fresh and stuff like that.
Speaker 2:I mean guaranteed like 10 years. It's gonna be like a different update you know, yeah, and the prices are gonna go up um, the april is coming.
Speaker 2:We're in april now. A lot of good movies coming out the amateur, um sinners, michael b jordan movies coming out, accountant 2 a lot of good movies come out in april, but then we're gonna get a may where, like a lot of the good movies are coming the thunderbolts and, um, all these other great movies. Is there any movie that you've seen that you would want to go see this year?
Speaker 1:um, I'm really excited for lilo and stitch, just because I'm the first one on this podcast, yeah it's because, I mean, I grew up. I grew up with the disney films and I remember watching that movie when I was little dude, I re-watched the original, like it's good.
Speaker 2:A month ago, I cry it's a good movie.
Speaker 1:It's a good movie so I'm excited to see. So I'm excited for that. Um, I think that's about it as of right now because, like, I don't go to the movies a lot, but whenever I do get a chance I want to make sure it's like a good movie that I really like yeah and um, you know this is the first year like we're starting to get a group of things, because last year was the ticket and big hits from the uh strikes and stuff like that.
Speaker 2:Zendaya is gonna be in the new movie. I don't think it's coming out this year if it is gonna be like later this late this year yeah I'm excited to see her on the big screen. The odyssey is gonna be a pretty big one. I don't know if that was screened this year, I see that's the new christopher nolan movie with a ton of actors like robert penson, matt damon is it about like like the odyssey, like the greek mythology?
Speaker 2:yes, oh, that's gonna be dope yeah, and there's been um leaked photos of matt damon and that's like that's dope. Yeah, I would watch that yeah, yeah, I'm gonna show you some pictures from that, because yeah tom holland's there's and days in there, robert panton. They said yeah a lot.
Speaker 1:A ton of big celebrity names in there that's pretty cool because you need a big cast for that movie. Well, it's a christopher nolan movie of course it's gonna be big cast, like I could do literally anything in hollywood now he owns us he owns us.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's gonna do big things um other than that. Congrats on your nominee. You said you didn't win thank you.
Speaker 1:Thank you, though I mean either way.
Speaker 2:Like I said, it was a, it was a good experience um for the best interview podcast, and I could have been out there too. I feel like I. You're a good interviewer. I feel like I'm.
Speaker 1:We have different styles yeah, we definitely have different styles of interviewing. You are really good. I always tell you this that, like once the camera turns on, you're a completely different person you're like. I feel like, at the end of the day, like we're both. We're both characters.
Speaker 2:You know what I'm saying yeah, I agree with that with your podcast. It's an interview based podcast yeah I turn yours on.
Speaker 1:I could tell it's an interview yeah I try to make mine more natural, like a conversation yeah, yeah, yeah, where?
Speaker 2:I feel like my strength is like I can reel it back into asking questions on topic, yeah, and everything is always trial and error. I mean, I've always tried to, like you know you've been on hiatus, though for, like you said, a month or so.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's been like a month where I just I just I don't feel like creating anything, which is kind of weird because I've always been super creative. You know, I don't really care to like dance, to make a podcast, to do like any post. I force myself a lot though, um, like this sunday, oh that's we'll plug it I can't really plug it because it's gonna be in the past yeah, but on sunday we're doing the whole coffee party and I'm excited to be there.
Speaker 1:But like I don't know, I kind of be like I don't want, like people like I turn like into an introvert sometimes you know what I'm saying I get like overstimulated, if that makes any sense yeah, um, let's talk about that coffee because, like this, is gonna be the first of many, if it's a success, which so? If we're talking in the future. It's already been a success. Remember, this episode's gonna come out on monday, right, yeah, so the coffee party already happened.
Speaker 2:Success a bunch of people were there so let's explain what the idea of the coffee party yeah.
Speaker 1:So for those of you guys who don't know, um, lately what's been trending a lot on social media is um, people are tired of going to the clubs late at night, getting drunk and all that stuff.
Speaker 2:So in big cities like miami, new york, chicago, I think that might be us, because we're turning 30 soon.
Speaker 1:But in big cities what they do is that during the day they have a DJ at a coffee shop and the DJ is just going in and there's a bunch of people who show up. It's basically a daytime club with no alcohol and you're just vibing with coffee and your friends, you're having a good time. You go dance for a couple hours, you leave, you coffee and your friends, you're having a good time.
Speaker 2:You go dance for a couple hours. You leave.
Speaker 1:You still got time to go grocery shopping do whatever you want to do, you know what I'm saying, so it's gonna be it's. It was that cielito lindo cafe in whiting, indiana, uh, from 11 to 2, and I'm super excited like it's gonna be the first of many, because you got some lineup already. Yeah it's also gonna be the first in northwest indiana, so I'm glad to be a part of that history.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and with you and your friend DJ Speaks.
Speaker 1:DJ Speaks and the CEO Seabass. Don't forget that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he'll see if he shows up. It shows his face.
Speaker 1:Yeah, maybe he'll be in Japan, arizona, this guy is.
Speaker 2:Mr. Worldwide, right now.
Speaker 1:Yeah, dude, he's everywhere. This dude is insane.
Speaker 2:He's up these brilliant ideas.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, um on top of that you're.
Speaker 2:You're still doing your kids in the other business. Um, yes, it's going crazy this year.
Speaker 1:You definitely are slowing down, not because you want to, not because you can't, but like we see each other every single day and I think you've. I mean, if there's anybody who sees me more, it's you. You know we see each other more than our own families and I mean, if I noticed it, I'm sure, sure you could notice that I've definitely gone down.
Speaker 2:This guy told me he wants to quit and become a construction worker. I was like we're not doing that. You're not doing that, it's tough man, it's tough. I hope your podcast comes back. Like I said, you all have your first hidden episode ever now, with me and Glenn on the podcast. Or not hidden, hidden lost episode we recorded a full thing.
Speaker 1:It was a great funny episode which I think is crazy, because we we lost an episode on your podcast too yeah, we're just not meant to be.
Speaker 2:I think the world's not ready for it. That's probably why we did it like we get canceled. We opened up the episode with us reading the script of super vet as the characters and we didn't even acknowledge it.
Speaker 1:No, no, no, no, no. We did that for about 10 minutes, yeah, and then, out of nowhere, we just started the podcast, but yeah. So I don't know when my podcast will be back, but it's not my priority right now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you got to go for that win next year.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 2:We'll try. Hopefully you too, man. Yeah, it'll be tight. I want to post pictures of the nominee, because we got pictures of it up there too. That whole experience pod movement, podcast movement. It's kind of a bust. We did try to make the best of it as much as we can. I'm so excited to do this podcast. I still have fun doing it every time. I'm trying not to go anywhere anytime soon. A lot of great movies announcements have been coming out and I'm excited to get into the superhero era again.
Speaker 1:I'm sort of excited to get excited for superheroes again because I haven't been for a long time no, I haven't watched movies like that since, probably like 2019 I think that was when marvel was at its peak like 2017, 18, 19, yeah, and then I think it slowed down a little bit, or maybe I just slowed down down, but I'm excited for this upcoming year.
Speaker 2:I just finished watching the show Invincible.
Speaker 1:You were telling me about it Great fucking show.
Speaker 2:I'm going to C2E2, a Comic Con convention coming up in Chicago soon, and I'm excited just to see more Invincible stuff there.
Speaker 1:You're going to buy a lot of stuff there.
Speaker 2:If I can afford it, yeah. Stuff there can be really expensive yeah yeah, well, thanks, fernando for coming back on the podcast. Got you, bro. Um, next week, if things go well people have been canceling me lately we might have a new guest coming on the brand new for the first time okay, okay uh to review the new amateur movie. I'm excited to get into that one. Um, I gotta watch the original because it's a remake from the 80s oh really, yeah nice thank you for listening.
Speaker 2:Subscribe to both of our Instagram pages. I'll tag him in the post in this and stay tuned. Next week I'll be saving his feet, you.
