Thunderbolts* with Glenn Steele
excuse me, is anybody sitting here?
Speaker 2:sorry, this is taken, sorry glenn, if you had the chance to change or to have the powers, the skill set of any one of the thunderball characters, who would it be?
Speaker 1:well, there's a lot of different choices. The Russian lady, what's her name? Oh, the mate in Florentine Pew. So she has like a traditional set of like yeah.
Speaker 2:I know.
Speaker 1:Where she can fight.
Speaker 2:She's like a Black Widow. She's like Black Widow. You've seen the movie Black Widow, right? Yeah, yeah, it's her sister.
Speaker 1:Red Guardian similar, but he's a super soldier. Yeah, so that'd be cool.
Speaker 2:And he's funny man. He was the funniest part of this whole movie.
Speaker 1:He was like a dad.
Speaker 2:He was like the MCU dad in this whole movie.
Speaker 1:I'd probably want to be like Bob. What was his superhero's name? Sentry. I'd want to be Sentry. That dude was like a god in this movie. He was very similar to Mewtwo in Pokemon.
Speaker 2:Okay, some people would say Superman. But yeah, mewtwo, I guess it works too, yeah because Mewtwo was an experiment.
Speaker 1:He was created and then he just lashed out of control and it was tough to stop. Have you seen the live-action Pokemon movie? No, that's something right up my alley though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, mewtwo was a big character in that movie too. I think I talked about it on this podcast before. But welcome back to this. He's Taken, where I'm your host, rob Miranda. I've got a recurring guest, mr Captain America himself, glenn Steele. Thanks for coming on, glenn.
Speaker 1:Yeah, thanks for having me.
Speaker 2:I love coming on here. I don't want captain america movie that's right. So that was technically your first premiere of the mcu, but I feel like this is your first marvel premiere, like of a good marvel movie, because this had a lot of more theater reactions, wouldn't you say?
Speaker 1:than captain america, definitely. I have one theater reaction in particular was uh, when um hold on.
Speaker 2:This is a spoiler warning. We are gonna be talking about spoilers in this movie, so yeah uh, when bucky, what's his name?
Speaker 1:bucky barnes yeah he was in the movie for like four or five, six different times and then he shows up as winter soldier and the whole theater clapped. Yeah, I was confused. I'm like did you guys not see him in the eight other scenes before this?
Speaker 2:the winter soldier, or seb Stan I should say, himself has him and Tom Hiddleston, the guy who plays Loki, are the only actors who've been in all phases of the MCU. What?
Speaker 1:does that mean?
Speaker 2:So up until, like the first Iron man, all the way to the first Avengers. That's the first phase Up until after that point. Until I want to say Guardians I could be wrong about that it was the Phase 2 and then Phase 3 that ended with Infinity War, not Infinity War Endgame. I think this is the end of Phase 5 right now we're at. It started in phases that they announced, so I think Fantastic Four is officially the start of Phase 6, if I'm not mistaken. I know nothing about Fantastic Four, so we'll talk about that towards the end, because that when we get to the end, credit scenes because it's a big movie that's lined up to come in in just a couple months, in july, and that's also the last marvel we're going to be getting marvel movie. We're going to be getting until next may, I believe, the avengers correct, the avengers it's setting up. It's big.
Speaker 2:Like a lot of the mcu, like the past two phases has been leading up to nothing but questions like why haven't they touched on this? Why haven't done this? I feel like we got a lot of the answers answered in the thunderbolts movie. Uh, we're going to talk about like leading up to it and, um, we're also going to be doing a different review at the end of this second half of this podcast we took. We picked the movie chronicle with michael b jordan. We're going to talk about the second half of this one. I'm excited about that because it kind of after watching it, after watching thunderbolts, like it kind of goes very well with this movie yeah, I know we'll get to it, but that movie was not what I expected and I I think I pitched you an idea in the parking lot and, um yeah, you weren't expecting what I was just
Speaker 2:seeing um. So anyways, thunderbolts, this is a team filled with characters throughout the mcu that I literally never thought we would see again, like uh, the guy who fake captain america, um, played by russell wyatt john walker. I didn't, he was in the show. I didn't think I was gonna ever see again. Even even um the red guardian, I think I described when I did that review like I I probably would never see this character again. And they proved me wrong. They got all the nobodies and the whole mcu and they brought them together and to team up. The biggest surprise to me was like um the ghost, the one who can phase in and out from ant-man 2. Never thought I was gonna see her, completely forgot about her.
Speaker 2:To be honest, her and taskmaster I had to go look back at ant-man 2 like details, and oh, I do remember her yeah, she was a big part of that movie, but I know there's like the last I've seen of it. Um, so you knew almost nothing about this plot or anything like that going in no um the only thing I knew.
Speaker 1:People said it was misfit heroes, so I assumed it would be similar to Guardians of the Galaxy.
Speaker 2:It does give Guardians of the Galaxy kind of vibes, especially with the humor and stuff like that. I mean, when they first announced this movie, I was not excited about it at all, like I really didn't think I was going to care about any of these characters, but like they picked a bunch of nobodies and now like they're fan favorites. John Walker is someone you literally hated in the show and now he's probably one of the funniest characters in the whole movie. Oh, I hated him. Yeah, that's what I just said.
Speaker 1:Oh, I hated him Even in the movie.
Speaker 2:Even in the movie. Yeah, really.
Speaker 1:Yeah, why Fake Captain America? My Captain America doesn't walk around with a gun, shooting a pistol at people. How about that scene where he's shooting?
Speaker 2:and he whips like the magazine out. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Yeah, he was, he was interested. We're gonna go through each character in a minute but, um, coming up to this movie, I mean obviously, like it's the end of phase five, so a lot of characters that we already knew, like we don't have to spend time on their backstories or anything like that. It's literally everyone just dealing through the trauma and teaming together to fight the greater good and fight the greater evil. So, um, leading up to this, marketing was crazy. Marketing was great for this movie. I thought like the trailers were everywhere, the posters and everything like that. Um, florence pew is very active on instagram promoting this movie. I love her. Florence, the lady who plays elena, I love her. She did her own stuff in this movie, including a scene in the very beginning when she jumps off a building. She really did that in real life.
Speaker 1:Is she Russian? Not in real life. She's American or?
Speaker 2:British.
Speaker 1:I would say American. So that's a fake accent.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:That always trips me out when people do spot on accents like that.
Speaker 2:I can't do accents.
Speaker 1:No, I can do a pretty good crikey mate If I ever need an Australian role there's that I can't do accents. No, no, I can do a pretty good crikey mate If I ever needed an Australian role there's that.
Speaker 2:When's the last time you'd seen an Australian character, though In anything?
Speaker 1:I feel like a few weeks ago I watched Crocodile Dundee 3. That's a movie, so yeah, crocodile Dundee.
Speaker 2:Classic film. You're just like you know what I'm feeling like watching Crocodile Dundee 3. You're freaking crikey mate Nice, nice. You know what?
Speaker 1:I love about this movie Not even getting into any of the plot or anything really, not even just this movie in particular, but movies in general, where I don't really know anything about it going in, don't know anything about why it's named the name.
Speaker 2:I mean, you're not even a big comic book fan really in general, so you don't know anything about the characters.
Speaker 1:But movies in general, where it's called something Like Chronicle Sure. Why was it called that? I don't know.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Thunderbolts. I had no idea why. I figured it was going to be a guy like. Maybe Pikachu shows up, I don't know. Zapdos.
Speaker 2:Thunderbolts with an asterisk. That's a very important part of the movie the title, I should say, because we'll talk about it towards the end of the credit scene which is like a big spoiler. We just talked about it in the group chat this morning how it was like a Marvel kind of spoiled it already.
Speaker 1:It's only been out for three days. I saw that tweet. That was messed up.
Speaker 2:It's only been out three days and they're already spoiling it Like damn. What if I had to work this weekend, you know?
Speaker 1:Yeah, they tweeted out hey, enjoy this movie. Oh, here's what happens.
Speaker 2:Yeah, here's what the asterisk means here's yeah, it's not really a spoiler of anything that happens. It's just like that's one of the most impressive things about this movie, like, oh, I wasn't expecting that, not at all, yeah. So, anyways, going back to the movie or the previews, like you know, it's a great promotion. They came out with their own popcorn bucket. Amc released their own version of popcorn bucket, which is just like a regular tin with the logos all over it. But I believe it was Cinemark who had the Captain America Red Guardians helmet as a pocketbook, very cool, which I mean it's not huge, but some people could wear it too. I wish I could. I really thought AMC had it and I was going to buy it, but it kind of let me down. Theater Theater was packed.
Speaker 1:It was.
Speaker 2:We bought tickets and we had to sit on the side because the AMC IMAX was completely full. By the way, I reviewed Sinners two or three episodes ago on this podcast. I went again two nights ago and it was still packed. It was incredible. That's a good-ass movie. You're going to see any other movie this weekend?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about that movie. I know people have seen it five times. I've seen it.
Speaker 2:Three good things about that movie. I know people have seen it five times. I've seen it three times and it still hits. Michael B Jordan and Ryan Coogler are fucking amazing in that movie. Anyways, going back to Thunderbolts, the reason I bring that up is because Thunderbolts is now in IMAX. It bumped Sinners out of IMAX and I had to go see Sinners in a regular theater. It didn't hit the same. You can definitely tell he filmed it for imax and seen in a regular theater. Yeah, it kind of brought it down a little bit.
Speaker 1:What's the difference?
Speaker 2:just the size of the screen, size of the screen, the way they shoot it, like the precise of, like uh imagery it's.
Speaker 1:It's a little bit different huh, I didn't know movies were filmed for imax.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's just something just started, not even too long ago within within the past, like probably seven or eight years, I would say. Um, going back to it, the theater reaction was amazing, like there's claps and shoes and stuff like that. You didn't quite get that in captain america, maybe like one or two, but there were several scenes in this movie that had people clapping and laughing a lot and stuff like that. You got on the train so fucking late, dude. You should have been there for Endgame and I wish man Spider-Man no Way Home.
Speaker 1:You know what that's. What time travel is for, though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I know you might get that next year with the new Avengers movie. That's what.
Speaker 1:I'm hoping for this was the closest I've been slacking. I don't have much left, though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean, I've been slacking on shows like Daredevil just finished, I still haven't even watched that.
Speaker 1:Amazing, by the way.
Speaker 2:Yeah, which leads, you know there's a lot of people complaining like because this movie takes place in New York City.
Speaker 1:I was just going to bring this up.
Speaker 2:I was like where's daredevil, where's spider-man, all these characters and stuff like that? I mean, the logical answer is, like, at the end of this movie, this is jumping way ahead the void. Like people just got sucked in the void, so we're assuming they did too. And you said you finished daredevil. Right, I did. Like you know, phil's fisk is the new mayor, and on top of that didn't he like end it with making like a curfew for everybody too? Yeah, they basically went into martial law that was not in the movie at all.
Speaker 2:So like I don't know, it's kind of confusing. I don't think we'll ever get an answer like that. I don't even think we'll see fisk and on the big screen, because I think, uh, the actor who plays them like came out legally. They can't do that, or something like that. It's interesting. It's interesting how it played out, but I just want to dive right into the movie now. This movie for those who don't know is about actors finding themselves on an unserved death trap and an unconventional team of anti-heroes must embark on an dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their past. Directed by Jake Shearer, who I don't believe has directed anything in the MCU quite yet. He's been known for doing stuff like short series and other movies that he's very great. The Beef on Netflix he directed it's one of my favorite shows of all time. He did a great job in this movie.
Speaker 1:The guy that directed this movie was the Beef guy.
Speaker 2:Have you seen the show the Beef? I've seen a little bit of it, yeah, as a matter of fact, steven young, who stars in that, that guy asian guy, he was originally casted to be sentry in this movie.
Speaker 1:Oh, I'm glad they made the choice they did I think he could have pulled it off.
Speaker 2:I would like to see that. I love steven young, this character, bob, played by um lewis pullman. He did pretty good in it. I thought it was cool. I can't complain anything about him. He was actually amazing. But Steven Yeun, I think he would have been amazing at it.
Speaker 1:He gave me like huh, maybe this guy could possibly be on meth.
Speaker 2:Sometimes like how he played it. He played like a confused surfer dude, like a Kelso from that Somebody Show kind of vibe. But that's part of his charm. That's why everyone loved him. I think walking out the theater I don't know if you heard them, this couple in front of you they were talking about how much they loved Bob in this movie.
Speaker 1:Really Good for Bob. What's? His name Century.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I've never seen that actor in anything People are comparing him to. Well, he recently played in the top gun maverick. Uh, his name was also bob in that movie too, so that's why people are laughing at that, so oh, I didn't.
Speaker 1:When he said, hi, my name is bob people, a lot of people laughed I think it's just a funny line was it yeah, which that line was in the trailer too, though.
Speaker 2:So, oh, um, so let's go through the beginning, like I mean yelena, who's doing an open monologue that we later discover she's actually telling the hostage this um, you know, she's like I'm just depressed, it's like a void I'm in. You know, like I go home to nobody. You know I do the same thing over I go out, I kill, I get a mission, I kill, I come home to nobody, I drink and then like this, you see, like walk off the side of a building, kind of parallel to the black widow, how she jumped off that one, that that an end game, that cliff, but also like gives you the sense of feeling like, oh shit, is she killing herself? Kind of thing. It was kind of depressing like this.
Speaker 2:This movie dealt with a lot of mental health, which is why, like I think it related to a lot of people Feeling trapped and, you know, like helpless and stuff like that, like in the same routine over and over again. You know John Walker is also going through depression too, because the whole stuff that happened in the Captain America show. He can't pull himself out of that. Like he has led to a failed marriage, he led to a shit, dad, um.
Speaker 1:So he was kind of fucked up on his own oh, I do remember what happened at the captain america show well, yeah, it's been a while.
Speaker 2:He killed and he was dishonorable charge and just yeah bashed a guy's head in yeah, yeah, it was pretty fucked up. That's why he like he's not captain america anymore, but he still carries around a captain america shield. I thought it was kind of odd too. It's not vibranium or or anything like that. I thought maybe at least it'll be an adamantium, because we introduced that in the last movie. Right now it's just regular metal, maybe different, like a special kind of metal, but there's nothing special about it.
Speaker 1:Um, so anyway, leona, so at this, the fake Captain America Walker. He's not Captain America, so he's just like independently he's agent um agent, something Secret agent, I don't know.
Speaker 2:So he works for the government. He works for um Maria. No, sorry, uh, valentina, who does she work for she?
Speaker 1:I think she was introduced in Captain or so she just hires these like him and Yelena for like contracting kills and stuff.
Speaker 2:So her character. She was introduced in several movies so far like end credit scenes, but she had a big part in Black Panther 2. I don't know if you got there yet. She was introduced as a CIA the head of CIA and she was introduced as a CIA the head of CIA and she was working on this project. She wanted resources, which is why she's heavily involved with Wakanda, or she was highly interested in Wakanda for their resources.
Speaker 2:And she brings up the point in the court hearing this morning saying like, and not this morning in the movie, saying like, hey, like, we need some kind of protection. Like the Avengers aren't here anymore, they're not coming back. So she was experimenting. She was in charge of experimenting on like the like, the people who made bob and um, she didn't even know bob existed. She thought he was dead.
Speaker 2:She was in charge of um. She appointed herself to come up with that solution. So she goes and um, the government finds out that we're not doing this bullshit, bullshit and like. So so things don't get tied back to her, she hires Yelena and John Walker and the ghost and taskmaster pretty much to go to destroy all the evidence is why you see Yelena in the beginning destroying that building on the floor, that floor on the building, and then the only pieces left to destroy are the assassins, like the one, like those only loose ends, which is why they were all called to that room to kill each other, and, even though they probably knew they wouldn't kill each other, they thought they could at least, um, pretty much, set them on fire and kill them, which is very dark, right?
Speaker 1:yeah, that was pretty fucking dark so hey, go down to this uh room a mile deep into a mountain.
Speaker 2:I'm gonna burn you alive in there so then, uh, once they figured out what's happening, the escape, they decided to team up, which I was like this is very true, like that scene where ghost had to go open the door. I thought for sure she would have left them for dead. And then, like, how do they display their powers? First of all, I like john walker in this movie. I thought he was very funny. He was hilarious in this movie, like his he.
Speaker 2:But the only thing I thought after the whole captain america show, you think he would change his attitude a little bit, be a little bit more open-minded. After finding out, like, yeah, his way isn't always the only way. Because he was a dick, he kind of like forced himself to, or wanted to be like in charge of everything, yeah, point in case, like when they go out that out, like that uh long tunnel going upwards, he made the call like, hey, I want to get myself up. And then, if you guys survive, cool kind of a dick in this movie, um, bob. Before then he lost his memory. He can't really remember how he got there, what he, what it's all about. I thought there was gonna be like a love attraction between him and yelena, didn't you?
Speaker 1:in the beginning. I did for sure yeah.
Speaker 2:So he goes out with them and they find this. They find a way to think it's out, which is like a long a room, no way out, but up. They don't even know what's out there, really thinking about it like how do they know a door was up there? You know, I like the way they display john walker's strength in this movie. I was like you know what I got this guy's like? He jumps and he just disappears. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, that was pretty sick and he comes down hard as fuck, but that was cool as fuck.
Speaker 1:I didn't know he could do that Because he's a super soldier.
Speaker 2:Yeah. So anyways, they have this hilarious cool moment where they go back to back and they all climb up there. My thighs were hurting after watching that.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:A mile long I think it was over a mile long going up step inch by inch and stuff like that. Like god forbid, you make a move and they, like they work so hard. After like an hour or something like that, they look down.
Speaker 1:They can still see the floor so like damn credit to bob for even thinking of that tactic, though but then you get out there and he's like, oh fuck, how do we get out of this?
Speaker 2:now?
Speaker 1:they did that and I was like I didn't even think of that yeah.
Speaker 2:So then if you get out of there and you line like this is where the Red Guardians come to play too they come pick her up. It was a hilarious father-daughter moment. Like he comes and then she's embarrassed by her dad Hilarious, together they have a scene. We're skipping over a lot of stuff, which I want to because I don't want to get too much into detail, but let's just go over. Like the characters Yelena, some, like when she showed up to her dad's house and knocked and he thought it was doordash, yeah, so I said leave it on the porch. Yeah, yeah, um, a lot of humor.
Speaker 2:Let's talk about the regarding that he was. He was funny in the black widow movie. I remember that. But I think he upped up his humor. How he was just a supportive dad in this movie, how he got touched, how she named the team at the thunderbolts after her little soccer team, um, even at the end, like he's like, oh, don't worry about the copyrights, I fixed it, it's avengers with a z. You know just small jokes like that throughout the whole movie. And he did display a good amount of muscle in this movie. Like, um, saving that little girl from the the debris, and everything like that great, he's the muscle, he's like the new hawk, basically uh, yeah, I would say hawk, or would you think of him more of a thor?
Speaker 1:I would say, thor, just because he's funny. Yeah, okay, it's a good point funny good point, yolana, obviously replacing black widow.
Speaker 2:She was great in this movie, not just with her action scenes, because she did all of her, most of her scenes by himself. All these characters did almost john walker did uh, russell wyatt um, she was great watching cinematically. But she also did like a lot with her acting drama-wise. You felt bad for her character. She felt relatable. I felt sympathy for her, which is wild because she's an assassin. Do you think she does a great job of replacing the Black Widow in this movie?
Speaker 1:I think she did solid.
Speaker 2:Yeah, do you think she's better than Black Widow?
Speaker 1:I heard someone say she's a better Black Widow than Natasha Romanoff I don't think you could say she's a better black widow even, uh, I mean black widow was doing crazier flips and stuff and and and moves than she was.
Speaker 2:I think she even credited her in black widow, if I'm not mistaken to being always better than her yeah, black widow was definitely better.
Speaker 1:That's why she had to die yeah, I guess.
Speaker 2:Yeah, um, ghost in this movie. She didn't have a whole lot of dialogue. She was pretty important to some scenes, like how they got off the extreme shirt place, um. But the end of it's kind of random. I thought there was on there. She was on the team taskmaster taskmaster who was the first one killed in this movie? I was very shocked. They shot her like in the head, like okay, she's not in the movie, no more. Who was the first one killed in this movie? I was very shocked. They shot her in the head, like okay, she's not in the movie, no more. She was in the Black Widow movie in the comics. She's a badass killer.
Speaker 1:I don't even think it's a woman in the comics yeah, they laid her down in the first 15 minutes of the movie yeah, which I think in the trailers.
Speaker 2:They did show her in the trailers, but it was like obviously edited in.
Speaker 1:I don't know why, but seeing them all with guns that early in the movie it just messed my head up. Like the avengers did they have guns like what did, black widow did, thor didn't they kept america.
Speaker 2:Not really. He had the first. Iron man has repulsors, that's true. I guess I don't know what it's like to get hit by that, though you know. Is it just like a punch, or is it like a laser going into you? What do you think?
Speaker 1:that is. I think it's a laser punch. Okay, because they do fly back when they get hit.
Speaker 2:Right, but you don't see any blood, so it doesn't look like it pierces any skin or anything. I don't know who else are we talking about. We didn't talk about, um, let's say, sebastian Stan. We can talk about Sebastian Stan, the Winter Soldier Dude. I feel like ever since, uh, the Captain America Winter Soldier, that was his prime. Like it was Sebastian Stan's prime in this movie. I feel like since then they just made him weaker and weaker throughout every time we've seen him Like he wasn't that impressive in this movie. He was more impressive than this movie than he was in the captain america show and, uh, the winter, the last captain america movie, um, but I was just like he didn't do much in anything else but this one. He kind of came back a little bit. He, he showed his, uh, winter soldier skills with the gun, like the gun he had in um, the winter soldier movie.
Speaker 2:Um, I don't like the way he looked in this movie his hair, his hair yeah, on the motorcycle it did give terminator vibes, like especially when he was flipping the gun and everything like that he was cool.
Speaker 1:What is he now?
Speaker 2:a congressman I was gonna say another reason like that was random so they just had to make him look like a congressman I guess. But it was random to have his character be a congressman or to join politics at all. Really Take him out of this movie. Take Winter Soldier out of this movie. I think you still get the same movie, if I'm not mistaken. He doesn't really add too much to this movie.
Speaker 1:Nah, not much. You're right about that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, really. I mean, he did take them all down, like the red guardian ghost and john walker could take.
Speaker 2:he couldn't take down century no no, that was pretty funny seeing, like, how he got us back up and, yeah, he sat him back down. But sebastian stan's the man. I love him and anything he's in he's um. A lot of these characters are. Almost every character who survived in this movie is confirmed for the new avengers movie, which is kind of fucked up. They announced that because it kind of like spoiled it like, yeah, they all live um.
Speaker 1:So where are the avengers right now? Like who the, the aven, the original Avengers, yeah.
Speaker 2:Black Widow's dead Hawkeye. He had a show Hawkeye kind of passing the torch to somebody new. But he just went on an interview recently.
Speaker 1:I heard this this morning.
Speaker 2:They offered him to come back for season two, but they literally offered him half of what he was going to make and he's like fuck that why? He even said I'm not asking for more, just pay me what you already did. And the show is called hawk eye his character you know it's kind of fucked up.
Speaker 2:I heard it's because he was in like a car accident or something he, he said that in there I was like you guys think, because I got ran over, but he got ran over a snowblower. I don't know if you remember that oh, that was him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I remember that happened he because, like I got ran over, you guys think I'm worth less now, like, what the fuck is that which you know? Good for him for standing up for himself, but I don't know where that leaves his character. Really. I guess we'll find out in the avengers again, maybe.
Speaker 1:Um he wasn't that significant. I mean, I never watched hawkeye yeah, it's a good show. Hayley steinfeld's in there but the only thing I remember of him during this Marvel saga is the scene where Black Widow died.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I guess Hawk you kind of I don't know if you've watched the She-Hulk show yet A lot of people hated that it kind of Hawk. This isn't a spoiler, but Hawk has a son now I don't know if you knew that I did not. The show ends with Hulk introducing his son to She-Hulk and their whole family, because She-Hulk is his cousin.
Speaker 1:He has a kid with his cousin.
Speaker 2:No, no, he goes to Saqqara, which is where he was in the second Thor or the third Thor movie. He goes out there because they reached out to him saying they needed his help and he comes back. I guess they were reaching out to him because, hey, you got a son over here, so he brought him back to earth. Don't know where they're going to introduce him later, thor, we've seen him and throw love and thunder. I don't know where we left him. He's still exploring space kind of thing, trying to find himself, trying to find peace, um, and that show ended with him like hercules I don't know have you got that far throw a love and thunder.
Speaker 2:Yet I don't think I've seen love and thunder okay it ends with an uncredited scene where someone's probably gonna be chasing him for a while. Um iron man, obviously you know he's died. Captain america, you know he's like old. Now no one knows where he's at, like you don't know if he's still living or what's the deal with that. Um sam, cap yeah, steve rogers.
Speaker 2:so yeah, of course, the original man, um avengers, aren't around anymore, which is why at the end of cats in america I don't know if anyone's ever talked to them like the writers for each of them like they talk to each other like because sam wilson was gonna go out and make the new avengers and then they also make these guys the new Avengers too, I don't know and then at the end of the movie it's like, well, santa's fighting the rights for the Avengers name. I was like it doesn't seem like his character. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:Well, at the end of the movie. I don't think the plan was to make them the new Avengers.
Speaker 2:The whole time Was it was it in real life and their reality? No.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but the writers know.
Speaker 2:The writers do know. You know what?
Speaker 1:I mean oh, yeah, well, yeah, but like at the end of the movie, when she has the press conference, she like sneaks them onto the stage at the end, like she was just like saw an opportunity right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, which is they are government funded too, like that's how they're paying for everything. But also, sam, isn't sam wilson also government funded too?
Speaker 1:because, like the president, did assign him the make the new avengers and official government. Yeah, asked him one-on-one, even though back. Yeah, even though he's not the president anymore.
Speaker 2:I think it would still stand, if I'm not mistaken. Um, it's interesting. I don't know how it's gonna play out. It didn't seem like Sam Wilson's character for me to like to really care about that. If anything like hey, like let me lead this team, let me put this team into shape, and stuff like that.
Speaker 1:Where was he at?
Speaker 2:Don't fucking know Cause that where the end credit scene. That was like over a year later after the events of this happening, 14 months, they said yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we didn't even talk about century. Let's go back a little bit. Century was Bob himself was a cool character. He was a relatable character. Century this is where it dealt a lot with mental health. You know, like you have this dark darkness inside of you which is true to the character in the comics. Um, he's like scared. He was a scared little kid, like guy who didn't have nothing going for him in life and stuff like that, and that kind of led to his depression and then he let that depression consume him a little bit and it's almost like the Void and Century are two different people. They're just fighting over control of the body. Basically, I feel like when it's the Void, he has that cool dark shadow effect which is amazing. It looked cool, it looked badass.
Speaker 1:It was really cool.
Speaker 2:And then, when it'sry, he was in that gold outfit. How did you feel about the costume?
Speaker 1:I thought it was super basic.
Speaker 2:I thought so too. Super basic, I mean, it was very true to comics. But if you're going to do that kind of tight like this guy yeah, he had abs and everything like that At least bulk him up a little bit or something. You know it was super basic. He looked like mermaid man kind of. Kind of, I didn't care for the blonde. I don't think he looked good. That blonde either. It looked weird. Maybe if we he was always blonde maybe I could see it.
Speaker 2:But yeah, I didn't like it yeah, but his strength man like you would punch the shit out of him, wouldn't even flinch.
Speaker 1:Oh, he was untouchable. He was mute too, bro he was insanely powerful.
Speaker 2:Like it was like scary how powerful this guy was. And bob was never even meant to be sentry either. He just happens to be survived. He someone mentioned like he was just a test subject. They were, they wanted somebody else for that role. But bob was like fuck this, I like this power. Like why do I have to answer to you? I'm like a god. That was scary alone. That scene that was pretty intense. Like you're face to face with this guy who was saying like you're in my way, I want to get you out of my way and do whatever the fuck I want. Insane. And like he truly thought by putting people in the void he thought he was helping them.
Speaker 1:I don't know what do you think? If but when he wasn't that dark person. He was so nice.
Speaker 2:If you were to get sucked into the void because the void like puts you against your like worst traumatic memories do you think you would know what you would see in the void? Probably I don't think I've ever done anything that traumatic, that like, if you're thinking about it.
Speaker 1:I don't think I've ever done anything that traumatic, that like thinking about it like it wasn't that bad. Is that what happens in the void? You see bad stuff. I missed that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what happened to like um, Yelena, she saw like that, that, that in the forest, that her friend getting shot by that man, and that was because he touched her. Yeah, he was putting the, she was putting the void, and that that really happened. She lived through that. It was like a dark memory in her mind. Bob's was like, you know, his parents arguing in the basement or whatever it was. Yeah, so you see, like your deepest, darkest, I wouldn't say fear, but traumatic events. And Bucky Barnes, he went in the void too. So can you imagine what he saw. He even makes a joke about it, but I feel like we were kind of robbed to see his fight.
Speaker 1:Yeah, um, and they were worried about using bob as a test subject because he's a drug addict, right? I think they use him because he was super unstable, though, and it turned out to be bad, I think they saw this guy oh there's another drug addict.
Speaker 2:Like he doesn't give a fuck what we put in him. So I think that's why they kind of picked him off, like I said he was. They didn't care if he survived or not.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he was living life. When they found him he was out over in Thailand just looking for drugs Insane.
Speaker 2:Insane. Yeah, this movie is pretty dark once you put it through a lens like that.
Speaker 1:I mean they talk about doing meth.
Speaker 2:But like this movie is also very fun. Don't get me wrong, I liked it. I liked this movie a lot. It's the first MCU movie that had a great reaction at the end of it. Like I said, Captain America wasn't that great. The Guardians 3 was actually a good movie. I can't even remember what came out last year.
Speaker 1:I thought Captain America. I don't remember. If you remember, when I was on, I said it was an amazing movie. I think I gave it three or four big booms.
Speaker 2:I think you dressed up as Captain America on that show too.
Speaker 1:Did I.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I might have, but this movie just completely blew away. Captain America, in my opinion. It was unexpected.
Speaker 2:It was really good. Okay, let's play a game now. So you've seen the majority of the MCU. Okay, so this is the new Avengers. Now I guess anybody can call themselves the Avengers too, it doesn't really matter. It seems like Sam Wilson is putting together an Avengers team. Who do you think will be on Sam's? Do you think we're going to get another Civil War kind of thing too? Avengers team who do you think will be on Sam's? Do you think we're going to get another Civil War kind of thing?
Speaker 1:too Well on Sam's, I think Thor's back.
Speaker 2:Okay, thor, let's just say there's 1, 2, 3, 4, I guess, 5 people on the new Avengers. So you got Sam Wilson, you got Thor.
Speaker 1:Well, since we're bringing back Ghost, let's bring Ant-Man. Okay, that got Thor.
Speaker 2:Well, since we're bringing back Ghost, let's bring Ant-Man. Okay, that's three.
Speaker 1:Gotta have Spider-Man in there. He puts asses in the seats.
Speaker 2:I didn't think about that. I don't know if he can for the rights, but oh, is there an issue there?
Speaker 1:Maybe Potentially an issue with Spider-Man. Okay, noted.
Speaker 2:How about Falcon, the new Falcon?
Speaker 1:Yeah, of course. Okay, I remember in the movie he showed a lot of personality. That means he's coming soon.
Speaker 2:Give me one more.
Speaker 1:I'll give you one more right now.
Speaker 2:How about Shang-Chi? That might be an interesting one.
Speaker 1:Oh, I forgot about Shang-Chi.
Speaker 2:He's going to be in a new Avengers movie.
Speaker 1:He's in it.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Oh well, he's an Avenger, yeah him.
Speaker 2:Okay, interesting. Like I said, I wonder if he's going to be Clash of the Clans. Are they going to team up or are they going to hate each other? No, I'm the Avengers, I'm the real Avengers.
Speaker 1:I might take the Thunderbolts in that fight. Comparison-wise comparison wise, I could see that they don't have any super soldiers. Thor might be the only challenge, and they already have the team chemistry. They've been through a big battle together.
Speaker 2:I think ghost technically beats ant-man's ass in the second movie. So, like he can, they can take him. Spider-man might be a challenge if they do have him. Shang chi might be challenging, but I think yolanda could probably take him. All right, that's a good choice. That's a good choice. Uh, I'm excited for the new avengers movie.
Speaker 2:And then we could talk about the end current scene, like obviously, like it's 14, well, there's a funny one the wheaties, the wheaties, post mid-credit scene. I'll uh, regard there's so much we haven't talked about, like this is kind of like last minute thing. We're doing this, but and I haven't we did this episode was delayed because I just got back from out of town and, uh, I really did want to watch this movie again to have a fresh mind on it, but I just couldn't have time for it. Um, the Wheaties, the post the mid credit scene. Very funny, it's a funny take, you know, like this lady's buying Wheaties or cereal, the Red Guardians is like.
Speaker 2:The Red Guardians is like, hey, why don't you buy this one? This one looks like a good group of people. And she goes okay, she grabs it, she just puts it down at the end of the aisle. Very funny, yeah, that was funny. And then we get to the end credits scene at the very end, which is also the longest end credits scene out of all the MCU. They broke a record with that this one we just saw yeah, it was like 2 minutes and 40 something seconds.
Speaker 2:Huh it, this one we just saw. Yeah, it was like two minutes and 40 some seconds. It sets off 14 months later. They are officially the new avengers. They live in the watchtower. They have a new uniforms. Bucky looks bad as fuck in this movie and that in the new uniform he looks cool as shit.
Speaker 2:Um, this is where we find out that sam wilson kind of has beef with him. I thought we actually would see sam a little bit. I kind of hoped we did. Um, sam wilson is kind of has beef with him. I thought we actually would see Sam a little bit. I kind of hoped we did. Sam Wilson is kind of beefing with him a little bit about the copyrights, which is kind of insane of me that he would even care about that.
Speaker 2:But they're also the big thing that led up to it. They're getting a distress call saying something's entered the atmosphere and they look it up and it's a Fantastic Four shit. Like they're coming to the mcu I know you mentioned you didn't know anything about the fantastic four, just like spider-man, how sony owns the rights of spider-man. For years fox owned the rights to the x-men and the fantastic four and that's why they were never in the mcu, but recently it may be like four or five, maybe like three or four years ago. Marvel recently acquired the rights back for them, which is why now you're starting to slowly see X-Men movies, x-men and like the Fantastic Four coming to the MCU now.
Speaker 1:So the Fantastic Four?
Speaker 2:they were astronauts yeah, yeah, you've never seen the original like the 04.
Speaker 1:I'm just going based off of what I saw in the previews so they were astronauts.
Speaker 2:They go up into space for some mission. They get caught in some cosmic rays which gives them their powers. I'll definitely send you some links so you can. So they were astronauts. They go up into space for some mission. They get caught in some cosmic rays, which gives them their powers. I'll definitely send you some links so you can learn about their history. This also kind of gives spoilers about. It's presumed that their universe, the Fantastic Four, are coming out in a couple of months. It's set in a different universe, which leads us to believe that their universe is going to end, which is why they're coming here. It kind of spoils a little bit. I feel like I'm excited for it. Pedro pascal's mr fantastic has a great cast and it looks great from the trailers. I don't know if you've seen any trailer. They did show a trailer beforehand it looks good.
Speaker 1:Are you excited for it or yeah, I'm definitely gonna watch that.
Speaker 2:I, I think you should watch the original fantastic fours's, like the first two. Chris Evans, who plays Captain America he's the Human Torch in those movies too. It's pretty fun. He was also in Deadpool and Wolverine as the Human Torch.
Speaker 1:I don't know if you remember that no, I saw it, but I don't remember that this movie had a lot of heart.
Speaker 2:This movie had a lot of humor. It answered a lot of questions we've been waiting for. There's still a lot out there, um, but this one it didn't raise any new questions either, you know like an end of crime scene that didn't lead to anywhere. So I felt just that alone makes us a better movie than the past phase that we've seen. What would you give this movie One out of 10,?
Speaker 1:one out of 10, this movie solid 8.9.
Speaker 2:I would get a solid eight.
Speaker 1:I liked it a lot.
Speaker 2:Yeah, would you go see it again in theaters? I?
Speaker 1:would, okay, I would you want to go right now let's go. No, I'm just joking. The only question that this movie left me with is well, number one where are the Avengers? Number two where's Daredevil?
Speaker 2:Yeah, which that I don't think we'll ever get an answer for.
Speaker 1:Because it's the same universe, right, yeah, 100%. Same city Number three. Universe, right, yeah, 100, same city, number three. Who are the new avengers going to be?
Speaker 2:and all my questions are avengers related, so also another cool, interesting fact the russo brothers are coming back from the new avenger movies. I don't know if you know who they are the guys who directed endgame the captain america winter soldier. They directed infinity war. The better civil war, the better mcu movies these guys directed and it was actually they said after Infinity War they were never going to do it again. But it's actually a pretty huge deal that they're coming back. They agreed to come back for these next two movies.
Speaker 1:The new two Avengers. So they're directing them. Yes, oh nice, and I don't know about writing them.
Speaker 2:They could be writing them, I don't know. But the end credit scene that was just filmed a couple weeks ago and the DeRusso brothers directed that too. Very cool, very exciting news With them. I trust everything in their hands. What?
Speaker 1:did you think was going to be in the end credit scene.
Speaker 2:I thought we would sure see cameos from somebody Somebody direct, like Sam Wilson at least. It would have been cool to see Nick Fury. I don't know what the fuck he's up to now. Is he alive? I don't remember the last time I seen him was it infinity war? No, it was captain marvel 2. Have you seen that one yet? No, not two. I don't think he dies in that one captain well, he was in secret invasion.
Speaker 1:I should say that's the, the female yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Brie Olsen yeah, brie Larson, fuck um. Elizabeth Olsen is the Scarlet Witch, so you're close, kinda the in the end credit scene. I thought we were gonna see Doctor Doom or something Doctor Doom related you know we might see something like that in the new Fantastic Four in the end credit scene. But I think Galactus is the big threat in that Fantastic Four. I gotta send you some homework, dude.
Speaker 1:It's on YouTube.
Speaker 2:Explaining everything. It's cool. I give this an 8 out of 10, though it's one of the better movies of MCU after Infinity War I'm sorry, after Endgame.
Speaker 1:Best movie I've seen this year so far yeah, it's because you haven't seen sinners yet. I'm telling you it's a good ass movie.
Speaker 2:That's probably true yeah, um, now let's transition into, like the movies, it's a similar kind of theme. Someone gets powers and they let their emotions get the best of them, not their better emotions, like anger and depression, gets to them and they think they're above everybody and they go on a killing spree.
Speaker 2:Basically, it's the same concept but, this is like what if bob was 17, you know? Yeah, this movie came out 2012. I don't know if you remember it ever coming out, but it's one of michael b jordan's first movies I do not remember this three high school friends gained power superpowers after making an incredible discovery underground.
Speaker 2:Soon, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace the new, dark, their darker sides. Uh, michael b jordan stars in this, alex russell and dane dehan, who plays the main character in this movie. I have to address, like the obvious thing, like how the movie was filmed. It was filmed filmed as if I had a camera in my hand and I was just walking around with it. You're watching the point of view of everybody, basically, instead of a traditional camera just looking at our lives. Yeah, pov, yeah. Did you like that or did you find that annoying? I kind of found it annoying.
Speaker 1:I didn't mind it. I thought it was actually kind of cool. It's annoying. I kind of found it annoying. I didn't mind it. Yeah, I thought it was actually kind of cool, you know, because it's not just handheld cameras. There were scenes, let's say, in a hospital. They would show you the security cameras in the hallway like so little stuff like that. I thought that.
Speaker 2:I thought it was pretty cool this guy goes out and buys a 500 camera. I don't know how he gets it, I should say, but I was like this is 2012, 2012. There was iPhones around there too, like why didn't this guy just film with his iPhone?
Speaker 1:You know what I mean. This movie did seem. It reminded me of 2012. Because I was also a senior in high school in this movie.
Speaker 2:I graduated in 2014. And I remember when this movie came out, I think I was friends with this girl who invited me to the youth group, kind of thing, and they play this movie. That's how I first saw it how they said it did a good representation. If me and you got these powers, like we would probably be doing the same shit.
Speaker 1:Oh man, I'd be flying all over town just like they were right.
Speaker 2:Would you tell anybody like you gotta keep that secret say like do you think you keep the secret from me? Like you got it and I didn't know you, I don't have it, I never knew anything about it.
Speaker 1:No, you wouldn't tell me I'd mess with. No, I would tell you because I'd like you've messed with. The fuck, my friends yeah, I would definitely mess with you guys that's a lot of trust to tell somebody too, because these guys were. They were, they could fly, they were like telepathic they, they could control anything around them.
Speaker 2:First of all, let's go down the line. The main character is Andrew, who plays this kind of loser in this movie. Definitely a school shooter vibes kind of kid he was the whole movie gave me school shooter vibes exactly yeah, big time he was kind of a loser.
Speaker 2:He was kind of an outsider. He was a very shy kid. He just decided one day I want to buy a camera and start filming everything. Nothing wrong with that, like it's kind of weird, but like that's your niche. And there's also another girl in the movie the same kind of thing too that she added nothing to the story um, except for her camera to, so we could watch it. Yeah, because like you don't even see her at the end of the movie. What the fuck happened to her?
Speaker 2:yeah so anyways, uh, so he decides to keep a camera because he also has an abusive dad too. He kind of wants his evidence, which he felt bad for that one dude. Some of the bullying in movies, I don't know, it just doesn't seem. I never personally experienced that. It just seemed kind of out of pocket with some of the shit. They were literally like one of the scenes he finally lost his virginity but he ended up throwing up on the girl and people were literally making fun of him to his face. With that. I was like I don't think I've ever seen that in my school. Do you think that was like how people are bullying now or or ever bullied? I thought that was pretty normal, you think so?
Speaker 1:yeah, I thought his reaction was I could, I, I, I could see that too.
Speaker 2:Definitely school shooter vibes, yeah for sure you open up his locker. It's probably a name on a list of names, so, anyways. So he, his cousin, who was, I want to say, popular, he was more comfortable with people. He invites him to this party. And him and michael b jordan, all three of them find this like random hole in the middle of nowhere. Um, they go down there and it's this like something alien, I'm assuming alien or something like that and they, they wake up. You don't even, it's a cut scene from like that night to maybe like a week later. I would say. They wake up. They already discovered they have powers. You kind of missed the whole point of a movie. So, um, it's telekinesis, right, where they're going to control things with their minds.
Speaker 1:Telekinesis, yeah, where they can lift things. It's likekinesis right, where they're going to control things with their minds.
Speaker 2:I think it's telekinesis, yeah, when they can lift things. It's like they're almost grabbing you with an imaginary hand.
Speaker 1:I would say they're like. They became very similar to Mewtwo.
Speaker 2:Another Mewtwo reference yeah.
Speaker 1:They could fly. They can do psychic abilities? Literally they were Mewtwo. I don't think they could talk to each other though, but they had kind of like something sensing. Maybe eventually they would have got there. Yeah, feeding?
Speaker 2:yeah, because they were getting stronger day by day and they sensed something was wrong with the other one nosebleeds and a headache and hear the like uh, the other person's voice, yeah, yeah, so then, um, I don't know. Discovering the powers, learning how to use them that was the funnest part of this whole movie. They go to a toy store and fuck around with people. They move people's cars. Dude, I would have a field day with that bullshit. I wouldn't tell anybody. Would you try to be a superhero?
Speaker 1:if you had that? No, I would do exactly what the school shooter did first, I would enter the talent show as a magician and win that.
Speaker 2:Did you have a talent show at your school? No, we didn't. No, did you have anything cool like that? We barely had books. That's why your school shut down, huh.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but what would you do with telekinetic abilities? I'd be a magician. I'd do magic tricks and just blow people's minds.
Speaker 2:Definitely cool bar tricks. Like just cool bar tricks Hanging out with the good boys and like, hey, watch this shit. Yeah, yeah, just fucking like, lift 18 bottles of the air, juggle them and shit or when he dropped the deck of cards and then that was sick.
Speaker 1:Put them like what did people think was happening, I don't know?
Speaker 2:and then like, and then like a month later you find out what happened with him as like oh shit, like we. That guy was doing that shit for real, you know some point to do together I would have a field day, and on top of that they learned they could.
Speaker 1:Oh, that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw that they got these telekinetic powers.
Speaker 2:Oh, you went in there not watching the trailer or anything.
Speaker 1:Didn't know anything about this movie.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Didn't know anything and I saw they could do telekinetic abilities and I immediately thought of Mewtwo. I'm like these thieves are going to start flying.
Speaker 2:Do you just want to watch a pokemon movie? I know I've been talking about mewtwo a bunch, yeah, but michael b jordan stars in this movie too. I forgot watching this movie like this is a spoiler, spoiler, spoiler. I forgot watching this. I forgot he dies. Yeah, he dies, he gets killed.
Speaker 1:I was shook by that low-key yeah, a little earlier to kill him off, I think.
Speaker 2:Right Right. It's like an hour 20 minutes long. It's a short movie. How?
Speaker 1:old was he? Is this Friday Night Lights, michael B Jordan. You ever watch that? No, your face tells me you've never seen Friday Night Lights.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 1:You would like.
Speaker 2:Friday Night Lights Aren't. I think they bring that show back, if I'm not mistaken. Is it the one with that one white guy? He plays John Reacher now, not Reacher, I don't know names, I don't know. What's it about? What's it about?
Speaker 1:It's about high school kids in Texas, just relationships and family stuff.
Speaker 2:It's a series. It's like seven seasons. He's in all seven seasons. No, he's in like the last, like four, I think, the last four seasons.
Speaker 1:Yeah, damn, I didn't know that yeah, he plays like uh, one of the main characters michael b jordan is the man. He was young yeah, oh, in this movie, when he died yeah at his funeral they showed a picture of him from when he was in uh Wire. You ever see that show.
Speaker 2:No, I didn't know. He was in the Wire either.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he was, as they showed his character in one of those little framed pictures. It was from the Wire. A scene from the Wire. How crazy is that. How crazy is that when he had the braids, when he was like probably 13, 12.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah, and yeah, yeah, yeah. And first of all, no one thought the most popular kid in school was hanging around this like there's nobody, you know. And on top of that, like, let's go back to like, uh, the main character, andrew. He starts getting picked on at school. He just like rips someone's teeth out of their mouth and no one. Hey, maybe we should call this kid out of class. That's school shooter shit.
Speaker 2:So then, um sure and he also, his dad, is a abusive alcoholic. In this movie too, beats the shit out of him all the time, and until andrew, like finally, because I could, I could end you right now, he says I could crush you then he drops him off of the one of the top floors of the hospital.
Speaker 2:Insane. That end battle scene was pretty dope and the fact that that was filmed like the point of view of people filming on cameras over nearby. I think after a while it stopped doing that. I don't know if you noticed it like stop, it's like a regular camera work, almost. Stop filming from the point of view of cameras and just do like a regular.
Speaker 1:Oh no, because that at that late point in the movie I was thinking every time they switched okay, it's a camera from the building. Okay, this is the camera that that girl was holding in the slug bug. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2:It was an epic battle. They were pretty spot on. Yeah, If you've seen this shit go down, that's insane. Like if it were real life, what would your reaction?
Speaker 1:be Dude, I'd be freaking out.
Speaker 2:Seeing? Would you be reaction dude? I'd be freaking out seeing a person fly through the air doing all that. They went through someone's apartment like I would like. That's like right now we're just chilling. Right now guy flies off to the fucking wall. What I'm freaking out. I think it. How much do you think? I poop right here how much of the world population think he's.
Speaker 1:He's jesus coming back either think he's jesus a or b, he's mewtwo. I could only be those two.
Speaker 2:Just one of those two, yeah, yeah you can go out immediately looking for pokemon. He's mewtwo. Um, would you rather have these powers or just have a tail that you could do anything with? Oh, that's tough, like, let's say, a six foot long tail yeah, like a kangaroo tail.
Speaker 1:Yeah, be pretty sick be sick right, if I'm standing in this long lineup, let me take a seat on my tail. Yeah, I guess you could do that, or I could like bounce up and down like tigger does on his tail you could, or you could like, just grab a beer from the fridge with it.
Speaker 1:It's true, yeah, nah, I'm definitely flying you can't be flying the way that they were flying in this movie is how I envision flying would be like just straight in the subtle detail about like they had to wear coats because it's so cold out there you know, like that's very real yeah but they were up in the clouds as high as planes.
Speaker 2:You'd think they were in some kind of government radar kind of thing too maybe they're so small, planes are big. Yeah, man can you? Imagine being on a plane too and seeing that shit out of your window.
Speaker 1:It'd be so cool. Like, can you imagine if I just jumped out of that window right?
Speaker 2:now he's like alright, see you later, Rob. Yeah, that's what he did in the movie, remember? Yeah, yeah, secret for not long they didn't keep it for long no well, the one friend did, uh, wasn't they matt the cousin? Well, he did tell that girl in it.
Speaker 2:I would be such a simp, and I would be such a simp and the whole city of seattle saw him flying through the air, causing destruction, and then he just disappeared I was thinking too like if you wanted to keep your secret at the end still like where, where andrew drops his dad and he flies up to the catch them, was like you probably just caught him with your powers instead of actually flying up there, you know, definitely. So I was like you kind of expose yourself right there, which at that you're probably a flight or fight kind of mode, so it probably didn't occur to him. I would immediately make a superhero costume. What would your costume look like? He kind of makeshifts his own like firefighter costume that was so lame.
Speaker 1:I didn't like that. And then he got burned. There's an explosion. Yeah, my costume um you doing a cape gotta have a cape. You would have a cape.
Speaker 2:Gotta have a cape okay, color scheme what you think uh, probably, I don't know.
Speaker 1:Red, white and blue is classic american okay red, white and blue is classic. Um, I'd probably have like some type of not only a cape, but I also want like a mask slash helmet, a cowl is that what that's called? I think so, a cowl, a cowl. Wow, new word, that's a new word I just learned. Think so, a cowl, a cowl. Wow, new word, that's a new word I just learned. I'd have a cowl and I'm going to be flying, so I'd probably want it to look kind of like a fighter pilot thing.
Speaker 2:I would probably do Mexican flag colors just to piss off the president.
Speaker 1:That'd be funny yeah.
Speaker 2:That'd be tight. Yeah, would you like a onesie like century, or something different, more modern?
Speaker 1:you would do a onesie like that yeah and a cape and everything yeah, am I still fat? Yes, onesie, a tight fitting onesie, but I got the cape got the cape.
Speaker 2:Would you rather have these powers of this movie Chronicle, or Century's Powers? It's kind. Would you rather have these powers of this movie Chronicle, or Sentry's powers? It's kind of similar, but I don't know if Sentry was telekinesis too, though.
Speaker 1:Yeah, sentry was. Yeah, they're very similar.
Speaker 2:Oh, he was, because he threw the Red Guardian out the window and he brought him back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so yeah.
Speaker 2:But he also has. Okay, so you couldn't really hurt the Sentry. I Okay, so you couldn't really hurt the Sentry. I'm assuming you can't really hurt these guys either. That too, but you couldn't hurt these guys either, because, remember, they stabbed themselves with a fork.
Speaker 1:And also remember Sentry. They tried to punch Sentry in the face and he, just like you, couldn't.
Speaker 2:He ate that shit.
Speaker 1:And they did the same thing in Chronicle.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:When he tried in the bedroom scene.
Speaker 2:He tried to punch him in the face. He he couldn't hit him. They're both Mewtwo how about those scenes like where they were testing their powers and they threw the ball? They threw the ball at each other and just fucking ripped each other in the face? That would be us doing it. That would be sick.
Speaker 1:I would love to have these powers, especially at like 17, 18.
Speaker 2:I think the biggest. I wish they would've came out with a sequel. The first one would have been followed matt on like a going on, like a journey to find what happened to them and like government shit and stuff like that you know, finding the government and stuff like that. And the second one was gonna be um. The second option was a group of three girls find that power and Matt kind of mentors them a little bit too.
Speaker 2:Powerpuff Girls Kind of yeah, did you see that they were going to make a live-action Powerpuff Girls years later, after the show?
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:It sucks so bad as adults. Yeah, it sucks so bad. The trailer got released online by accident and you can see why it was canceled before it was released Mojo Jojo in that biop.
Speaker 2:Mojo. Jojo was played by a real life doctor, like a guy. He was Mojo and his son was Jojo. I hate it already. Bubbles was a prostitute. What she was a prostitute, yeah, that checks out. Uh, buttercup the green one I think she was some kind of firefighter, if I'm not mistaken, and the main one was a buttercup yeah, no, not buttercup blossom. Uh, I don't want to say she was like a, like a scientist or something like that, but bubbles being a fucking prostitute. What the fuck are we doing here? Yeah, that show got cancelled before it even saw the light of day. What would you rate? Chronicle one out of ten.
Speaker 1:I liked it a little better than I thought I was going to. You told me in the parking lot it was called Chronic. I know I'm sorry. I was looking up Chronic. I couldn't find it.
Speaker 2:You put two and two together.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I watched Chronicle, but I don't know like a 7.6. Yeah, I would give it that it was pretty good.
Speaker 2:I would give it that.
Speaker 1:Would you like to see a sequel? It kept my attention and it was a short movie. It was like 90 minutes.
Speaker 2:Very short, very short, 90 minutes, no sequel, no sequel.
Speaker 1:But matt, what do you think he's doing in his life now? Um assuming he's not flying around the world I don't think he would be a superhero.
Speaker 2:I think he would help people if he sees people needing help, but like I don't think he goes out of the way to like be a superman kind of thing you don't think he's living a normal life?
Speaker 2:I think he is living a normal life with a family yeah, he said he wanted to go finances to figure out what happened to them. I do believe that too. So I don't know if he's like snooping around government buildings or or what exactly, and you never find out what happens that would be so cool to have those powers, though, because you could just go do whatever you want, man no one could tell me shit.
Speaker 2:No one could tell me to do whatever you want. Fly anywhere. Yeah, definitely. All right, glenn. So thank you for coming to the podcast. We're kind of running out of time here, but thunderbolts is a fantastic movie. We're probably gonna go see it again pretty soon. Um may is coming up with new great movies. We're getting the new mission impossible movie, the new lilo stitch movie uh, I feel like I'm missing one, but anyways, july is gonna be a big movie for superheroes. We're getting Superman.
Speaker 1:And we're getting the Fantastic Four. I don't know anything about either of those. Even Superman I have never seen. I know nothing.
Speaker 2:He's basically a sentry, basically, but from a different planet, like he was born with those powers and he has kryptonite. Kryptonite's his weakness yeah, so thank you for coming on my kryptonite's his weakness uh, yeah so thank you for coming on.
Speaker 1:My kryptonite is steak and shake. Steak and shake, yeah, really, I had it the other day, dude, it's so good this is for anyone listening too.
Speaker 2:I think Portillo's is doing a buy one, get one. Free Italian beef all month of. May wow so we might hit up that after this.
Speaker 1:That's a good deal, yeah it's a really good deal that'll give me a big beef, yeah um, thank you for ever listening.
Speaker 2:Uh, glenn, thank you for coming on the podcast.
Speaker 1:We'll have you on again soon oh, definitely, I know we're a little ahead of ourselves, but can I come on for Avengers?
Speaker 2:oh, for next year.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'll keep that in mind so that's a maybe I'll take them maybe people don't know this too.
Speaker 2:The last episode for the Accountant 2, you were actually here in the building. You were like right behind the camera, you were doing the camera work for me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I got court side seats to the production, yeah.
Speaker 2:I might be having a big announcement coming at the end of this month soon, so I'm excited to get into that. But thank you for everyone listening. Subscribe to the Instagram page and the TikTok and stay tuned next week where we'll be saving a seat.
