Episode 2
The Three Day Sport Test is a joint activity of the American Hanoverian Society, German Oldenburg Verband, and the Hannoveraner Verband to provide a selection tool for stallions based on their performance under saddle. The test is modeled after principles established by the Equestrian Federation to ensure reciprocity between the registries. The test is normally open to 4, 5, and 6 year old stallions. This year 7 year old stallions were also tested due to the cancellation of the 2020 North American Stallion Sport Test.
In this episode, AHS Education Committee member and host, Candice Klingbeil, travels to Pollyrich Farm in Solvang, California to meet with stallion owners at the North American Stallion Sport Test West. The episode begins with an insightful explanation of the three day format of the test given by AHS President Edgar Schutte. And is followed by a conversation with Willy Arts from DG Bar Ranch about his stallions, Koning DG (Bordeaux X Jazz) and L Primo DG (Bordeaux X Contango). Next, Jessica Umansky Greenstein and riders, Joseph Newcomb and Birthe Laufer, discuss Exclusive Dressage Imports stallions, Influencer EDI (Ibiza X De Niro) and Bodo EDI (Bon Coeur X Freudenprinz). Then, Candice speaks to Dr. Sarah McCarthy about her stallion Escher DFEN (Escudo II X Apt to Please xx). Later by phone, Sandy Mancini describes how she acquired her stallion Gorgeous Latino (Glock's Toto Jr. X Rubiquil). And finally, Gorgeous Latino's rider, Sabine Schut-Kery describes Latino's character and rideability.
