Um this man has a uh variety on his resume. Um, he not just started from Not Scary Farm, he started from uh 17 Door LA Hayride. He even made a couple home haunts at his house um when he was a kid, and um I got to know this dude a lot more um versus the times I've knew him over when I was working with him at at Notts, and um just a great dude overall, got to know him what he does. We also got to know the infamous El Legayo character that he does, uh AK Tom Sellick. Uh we got to know that character as well, what how that it was developed and how that character is what it is today. Um without further ado, my guest today is Gary the El Legayo the Negro. Um yeah, so it's all like I think it's all motivation from doing that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's and and yeah, I get it. You like you get so fucking riled up and you just like start start running towards the fucking cage. Or you just like I I know when uh cage fighters they go up and they sit between their legs on the top of the cage. Yeah. And that makes me worried too because they fucking what if you they just like start chanting and they like lose their balance and fucking break their head because like there's literally there's only like a like a a step and they're in there's this the audience seats. Yeah. And you can fucking crack your head whenever you want to anytime, dude.
SPEAKER_02100%. Oh god. I gotta get closer to this. I feel like you can't hear me. No, no, I can.
SPEAKER_03I can you can adjust yourself, yeah. Just adjust, grab it, grab the mic whenever you want to. Ladies and gentlemen, we're here live.
SPEAKER_06Fuck all of it. I I like doing these uh these voice impressions sometimes. Like uh, you know, just pretending I'm like uh an announcer.
SPEAKER_03You have the voice of announcer, it's kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes they tell me for the radio, like in Spanish, especially, but not English, not so much because like Telemundo?
SPEAKER_04You know like how like in uh soccer games they're really close to the mic and like Yeah, but there's that legend that you know can beat us all at go.
SPEAKER_06Do you watch soccer? I do. Oh, really? Are you caught up with it with everything? Uh trying, trying, yeah. Oh Bolivia's got eliminated, man. We were we were about to make the World Cup, but yeah, I don't watch it.
SPEAKER_03I don't watch it at all, but like I know uh um a couple of my co-workers from like the upstate like we we have a break room upstairs in my work, and then there's always like local like uh channels on. Okay, but they're they always put on like the game sometimes, so it's like so I'm always watching like either soccer or baseball because everyone's like you know, like I have people in my department that are like baseball fans or like angel fans, Dodger fans. I'm like, I I don't understand. Like I only have one dude that works with me that knows, like watches the UFC. Oh and I like I can only talk to him. You're all I'm like fuck man, because like watching because I'm watching like because they're talking about like I'm in a group and then they're all freaking talking about it.
SPEAKER_00You know, they're like, Oh yeah, you see a crown, you know, you can make a fucking throw in a like three feet five. And I was like, And then I'm like saying that, I'm like, yo man, do you know like Club Swanson's retiring? And they're like, who?
SPEAKER_02Okay, uh what? Yeah, oh I see, I see.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I watch I'm like, do you know, like, do you know like Carl uh Yuri Proska just like is gonna go for the belt? And like some stupid shit like that. I don't understand at all. I'm like, fuck man. I wish like I wish like I had like people that did I can understand that can understand like that kind of you know work. Got it because like I'm I mean I'm nowhere like near with the whole um like baseball, soccer. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_06Are you into it? Like baseball? No, no, I'm gonna go. Soccer you're not, right?
SPEAKER_03I'm not like you're just more UFC. Yeah, I'm more UFC now. Like I've watched like I had family that watched uh uh football for a while. Like I've I've I've been we had the the four we were 49er fans and then there were some Raider fans for a while. And then uh I think we my dad was a uh was a Green Packers fan for a while too. Oh that's cool. Yeah, he was a Green Packers fan. I think like Brett Favre, that's why because when he was like in that era during that time when Brett Favre was playing, yeah, he was he he he liked him and then um I watched it with him sometimes. I even watched like the Super Bowl games. I I watched that like that's cool sometimes. Like, I don't know. Do you watch fate uh do you watch football at all? Of course, man. Got my LA Chargers going. So hopefully, yeah. You know who you like more? Oh, wait, no, no, Chargers. Oh, my buddy Alex is really good at uh he's a fan of Chargers as well. Okay, okay, cool. I always make fun of him for it. I don't know. But every time they lose they're not in the series. And they're like, shit. I'm like, damn, dude, what happened? You know, it's it's just amazing. I just don't want to talk about it. Leave me the fuck alone. Leave me alone. Yeah, like the same thing with like my buddy Wyatt, um, the guy right behind you that's in the photo, that art photo on top on the left. He was in haunt for for years. We're close, he's a close friend of me, my buddy Aaron Frayman of Vi. Royalty. Oh, yeah, royalty. Yeah, royalty last dance. Um, but he is a fan of tr of the the Rams. Oh the Rams. He's like a big fan of the Rams. So like when I there was like one time, like you know, when they they were close to winning that season, um, last the this past one for the Super Bowl. I was like, dude, we were gonna get because we were we're planning on getting him on like very soon. Uh-huh. And there was one time we wanted to get him on, and that was a week when they lost, and we're like, we're like, dude, I don't know if we could talk to him because he's probably mad right now. He's probably devastated, he's like really pissed. He goes like close, not every game, but like most games too that are like around so they're played because they play at SoFi.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I go when I can too. Like it's fun. It's just you know, telegating with all the buddies, and yeah, it's fun, right? Hanging out.
SPEAKER_01Um, I just went to you know, I went to just recently is the Kia Forum.
SPEAKER_03I have not been there. You know, I just went there the first time uh about like a month and a half ago. Yeah. I watched the artist, uh, he's an EDM artist called Excision. Okay. Excuse Excision. Um like a dubstep, like yeah, he's like a basic dubstep, like raw hostile, raw hard style guy, and he's really good. Oh yeah, like other artists like Riot 10 was on there, and a couple others, and uh he's really he's just really good, like visual, visually and everything, and it's great. Um I went there with Adam. Adam Adam. Me and Adam are huge EDM fans. Oh, that's cool. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's how we we like really grew uh closer because he he was the one um that like kind of like you know, offered me to like go to EDM, like more EDM festival. He's like also um the one who really got me into it was uh Rufio. Oh, okay, okay Rufio was like a huge one that like really got me into like brought in my more my horizon with music. Got it. He's like popped your cherry another way. Chop, yeah. He popped my cherry very hard. Like I was I was dribbling. That's cool. It's like, yeah, he he got me to like more he he really got me more into like trance uh uh genre music. That's why I really what am a fan of like Tiesto and uh Seven Lions and all these other artists, Armored Vampirian. Yeah, you name it. It was like fucking like we just went to beyond this a few two weeks ago. Um it was cool. Where was it at? It was at San It's always at San Birandino every year. It's on NOS event center.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03They close out that whole place. It's a huge, like not big, like EDC, but it's like two times well EDC is two times bigger, but this one's like more of uh if you ever been to a EDM music festival and you always wanted to if you ever wanted to like go one day. I always say to people is if you ever want to go to one one day, go to go to either to Nocturnal or go to Beyond. Beyond. Yeah, both of those are just like very um no like not a lot of people, like a normal average size uh amount of people that go. It gets packed, yeah, but like it's very um it's fun. But there's a good variety of artists, like you learn you broaden your horizon more as far as genres, like house, trans, hard style, dubstep, and you I mean you opened up more. I I've I just started to like it. I got more into it.
SPEAKER_06Well, but what made like what what do you do when you get there? Like, what do you do? Like, do you dance?
SPEAKER_03Do you think yeah, dance, freaking bob your head? You know, you fucking just like you Do you dress a certain theme? Um I d I've been dressing up like I've been going to the gym for like fucking years. I've been I've been doing it for so long. It's like I I never got into the theme, like the the style of how they wear it. Like that's what I'm saying. Yeah, like I wear like I wear all like we call it candy bracelets. I wear those. I wear those. Like I I I got into that. But I I'm more of a guy that like I just recently bought a uh a jersey. It's uh it's for an artist called Slander. Okay, they're like a mixture of like dubstep, like Beldy stuff. It's really good, it's it's super good. Um, but they uh I'm a big fan of them, but like I bought their jersey when I was at Beyond. Yeah, um, I got to wear that. That was pretty fun. I and I wear like this um it's a shawl, it's like a shawl scarf, and I wear that and I um the way you can tie it up and the way you put it, you put it as a hood. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I won't get criticized for it, so Oh shit.
SPEAKER_04Shots fired fired. Let's go. Oh, let's go.
SPEAKER_03Wait, are we live? Oh, we're live, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay, cool.
SPEAKER_03I'm playing for like 10 minutes earlier.
unknownOh good.
SPEAKER_03No, I um I really I really do um I I I do like it though. I like to wear like things like that, like the wearing that um make it to like shawl. Um I'm not really too like how other people wear it, like they wear like the fuzzy clothes and the big old pants and all that. I'm not why not? I don't know. Like I'm not just I'm not I'm not that deep into it. I I go there for like the music. I go there to experience like more artists, new artists I haven't seen before. Okay. I uh go there to watch the artists I'm a big fan of and because they play like you don't know what they're gonna play.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And it's just like it's fun. It's just so fun.
SPEAKER_06You go because you feel the music, you wanna just feel the vibes, you don't give a fuck.
SPEAKER_03You don't give a fuck, you're gonna be a good one. You just feel like you just like go there and everyone kind of appreciates you and who you are. They're not like not judgy, you know, they're everyone's cool. Yeah, you know, everyone gives you candy bracelets, everyone talks to you, you know, and they're cool people. It's fun, it's fun people. I wish you I mean I wish I wish it was like that more around around the world, but like, you know, everyone's kind of against them uh against each other these days.
SPEAKER_06I think the DLC needs to take a field trip.
SPEAKER_03Do a field trip. Hey, no, like um I know uh I know Chris goes. I know Chris goes to the world. Yeah, I think he performs. Yeah, yeah, he performs there. He performs at Apocalypse. Oh, there you go. I don't know if he's gonna go, I don't know if he's going to as a guest this year, but like I know him. Um Gio Celeste does it, I think. And I think bitch. Uh bitch, yes, he does. Um, we were talking about Marcos. Um yeah, uh then Sophia. Sophia does it as well. Uh yeah, I know I I know like at least as people from uh from our world, uh our realm. I I those are only five people that I know that do it. And they're they do really good. They have fun oh and then I uh Ashley. Ashley uh Ash Lopez. Yeah, she does it. Yeah, I've uh yeah, I've seen her. She does it with I just saw her. Uh no, I don't think I saw her. I saw her, I saw Sophia at Beyond. Okay. And then Ash was there as well. Oh nice. But they come, they they they go, uh, I think they just go there to like work. I mean, Adam does uh he was there this past week and he was um I mean sorry, two weeks ago, he was there as ground control. Oh yeah, he does it, he works at the event. He likes working at the event more because he's more like caring, he likes to take care of people. Got it. Yeah, he's there. Like if anyone is like intoxicated or just like or just tripping out, yeah, yeah. First response. Yeah, he comes out there, he's like, I'll help you. Give me your hand.
SPEAKER_05Give me your hand, give me your hand, damn it. Give me to me. He starts spinning his hand, he's like, Oh no, shit. He just starts talking to himself.
SPEAKER_06It's like, oh no, the Americ's rising. That guy's a good guy, man. Good heart.
SPEAKER_03He's has a great heart. Even though he cares, he cares a lot about people. He talks to me every time he tells me like about all you guys at Ghost Town. He tells me, like, I want to help out this person. I just don't know how to approach it. And I just I give him some advice here and there, but like he tells me, like, you know, like I'm working on this, I'm doing that. Like, uh, he he struggle, he's a guy that like, even though he's a badass out there, he's so good at his what he does. He still struggles at what he he does. He has he still struggles with his character a little bit. He has some like, you know, he you know, he gets lost a little bit. He's just like, ah, I don't know, I'm not feeling it tonight, or I'm not like this is something I'm not something I'm trying to work on, it's not working, and yeah, things like that. But like I think that's everyone, and everyone's not perfect though. At least he like admits to his flaws. Yeah, yeah. And that's a great thing about like him. He really is like like he likes to admit that he has a flaw that goes on with him, and that's just all psychological. Right. For him, I think it's I think to me it's psychological. I think he just needs to not to worry and just like kind of just uh do it and go with the flow. Go with the flow, really. Yeah, really. That's what I think we really do he needs to do. And um but he does he he's so he's great out there. I just think he's the one of the best ones I've seen.
SPEAKER_06Oh 100%.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, one of the best ones I've seen. I don't know. Have you worked with him before?
SPEAKER_06Of course. I I he um the last two weeks I was I because I usually stay um scare in um fog alley, that's where I like to be. Yeah, but when um the last two weeks of haunt, Alex was was going up in the front a lot, and so he's like, Hey, let's go up to the front, and yeah, we'll be with Merritt. And I was like, All right, let's do it. And so yeah, I went up there and yeah, it was it was fun being next to him and scaring. Like he an energy that he brings is just especially when you're standing next to him, it just it's very contagious. So that got me even going yeah, even more route.
SPEAKER_03Because you're like you're you're flowing, you like he he gives you the energy that he has exactly, and you're just like possessed, you're just like just like wants to go with it.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. We're just standing right there in line and just fucking going at it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. That's how I kind of unleash the the asylum character, how it is, because he dude the ones the the how I kind of released it in some ways was I've always done it, but like there was like one time I was like like you know, um hesitating. I was so apprehensive of like I don't know what like I don't know how to do it. Like, I mean I'm like, why am I thinking so much? And then he's he's like, come with me. And then he coaches with me on uh in Birdcage. Um think in uh 2017, yeah, I think 17 or 18.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And you can he's like right behind me.
SPEAKER_04He's like sounds like a fucking preacher. He sounds so loud, and he's like, You gotta let go! You gotta let go of yourself, do ask. Oh yeah, and he's yelling, I'm like just like fucking go ballistic.
SPEAKER_03And I mean, he he does that to everyone. He does that to everyone. He just kind of wants you to like uh not to think and just do. Yeah, he he that's that's his motto. It's just like don't think, just do. Absolutely. If you fuck up, you fuck up, you know. It is what it is, right? Yeah, yeah. I think I I I really he does have a great like way of like thinking for as far as like character development and love his his style of scaring, you know, just it's just amazing. Yeah, yeah. Last time I saw you, um when's the last time I saw you, dude?
SPEAKER_06Oh, the last time I was saw me was at the what was that?
SPEAKER_03Oh great to see you by the way. Oh no, likewise, thanks. Thanks for having me on, man. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_06I of course um was at the banquet.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, that's right. Yeah, we were there. That was fun. That was a good time. That was good. Yeah, that was uh that was an interesting banquet. Yeah. Uh I've always um was that ever the first because when you started, was was that always the banquet you you went to?
SPEAKER_06No, there was another one uh near Fullerton. I forgot what it was called.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that was the that that's uh that's the same one, the Charlton.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but there was another one like across the street. I forgot. It was by the was it? I I forgot the name. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I'm talking about? Yes, yes, yes. By the bars.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was this haunted like area that Morty set up. I'm like, what the fuck? Yeah, because he he uh he tried Morty Yeah, because set it and Morty set it up, and then I think like a few weeks before he sent he he posted something on Facebook, I think, or he like sent it to the group and saying that how haunted it was. Like he read like he gave us a like a haunt history. I'm like, what the fuck? Dude, we're going to like a haunted place, and it was and it was outside here.
SPEAKER_06It was outside, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I thought it was like, wasn't it raining at first? A little sprinkler. Like a little sprinkle.
SPEAKER_06Hop and on, but it stopped for the most part. Yeah, yeah. It was cool, it was fun.
SPEAKER_03It was cool. Yeah, I got terribly drunk, unfortunately. That was so bad. So that's why I stopped drinking now.
SPEAKER_06You really stopped drinking? Yeah, I stopped drinking.
SPEAKER_03I'm on uh I'm uh I'm at 11 months now. Yeah, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be on May the 5th. I will be uh 12 months. Oh good. Yeah, thank you. Yeah, it's been um it's it's been a ch it was challenging at first, but like it was something I needed to do and for for my my mental health and my physical health too, because it was just it was just tormenting me, it would just bring me downhill. Gotcha. I needed that because I I mean I I was I was trying so hard to be so casual to like everyone. I wanted to be part of the group too. Um I I was at that one point then also, but I was like emotionally just like drinking because I was just like emotionally just exhausted or uh hurt and you know going through a lot of like grief and you know heartbreaks and all that. So it was just it was it was kind of fucked for me. And um so it it didn't it didn't work out very well and I I just changed it my demeanor and it just it doesn't look good on you. Gotcha. Yeah, it was 12 months, hey man. Yeah, it was great. Yeah, it's been like I I just I kinda I just the you know it's like one awakening would just when happened. I just said to myself, I need to I need us I need to stop or else I it if I keep on going I'm this is not gonna look good for me and I'm not gonna get anywhere though you want to move forward from life. So so I forget how did I meet you?
SPEAKER_06I think we met through uh I believe it was Jason, wasn't it? Jason? Yes, I think he was talking to you one day and I went up to him and I just I was passing by you guys and I just smacked him across the head or not away.
SPEAKER_02Oh yes, so But we just messed around like that, you know, just So I I kind of met you in some Wasn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I met you um in some weird way. Yeah, through Jason, I believe. Sorry, uh where you got cut out. Uh you said through yeah, through Jason, yes. But I have Funny. Like I told Chris and Jason this story when they were on this podcast. Um so I told them the one time I saw I met you, you were wearing this other dark costume with the white kind of like a skull face. Yeah, kinda kind of like a Oprah Winfield.
SPEAKER_02The whoopee. The whoopee costume. The whoopee costume, the whoopee culvert costume.
SPEAKER_03And but I I was at Carnival one time uh at that time, and I was going through scary and then all of a sudden I heard this whoop, like loud, just smack of a like like these plates. I'm like, what the fuck? And I thought it was just someone just landed wrong or something. And I turned around, I'm like, oh fucking whatever. And I walked through, and all of a sudden I hear this whoop like fucking loud. And it was you just going up to people and just smacking your glove, like fucking loud. My plates, yeah. Their plates loud. And I was like, what? And I I had to stop, I had to pull to the side and watch you and look like, what the fuck? This guy's plates are so loud. Like in the in my way, where like it wasn't annoying, it was like caught my interest. I was like, tell me more. I'm like, tell me more about this. Oh, yeah, man. I'm like, and then I I then I I must have came up to you and I told you, like, dude, you have some loud fucking plates.
SPEAKER_06They told me that at the taco place. Yeah, at the taco place with Rufio right there. Uh it was after a hot night, I think. Yeah, yeah. We got to eat some tacos right there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_06And that's what that's where you told me.
SPEAKER_03I think that's where we even met more, like, more like, hey, yeah, you know, yeah, we then we then we met then we met each other. I was like, yeah, then then um and then I thought at first, I thought you had long hair. No, because of the whoopee.
SPEAKER_06No, man.
SPEAKER_03I've always wanted a long hair.
SPEAKER_06I thought you wanted the long hair. I thought you did.
SPEAKER_03I was like, whoa, like I want to try something different.
SPEAKER_06I feel like there was no like, you know, um that style wasn't, you know, what year was that though?
SPEAKER_03What year was that when you said 2202? Well, yeah. Well, what were you just starting?
SPEAKER_06I was just starting 21.
SPEAKER_03Just starting 21.
SPEAKER_0621, that was just with the fuzzy hair, fuzzy hair right there. Okay. The next year, the following year, that's when I did the whole tearbox. Yeah, the whoopee cell.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or something different.
SPEAKER_06I mean, I feel like everybody would have like some hair, some type of hairstyle the same. So I was just like, let me change it up a little bit because I like to try to.
SPEAKER_03It looked cool, it looked like kind of like a Marvel Battlefield Earth type thing. I was like, this is this shit's cool, man. I was like, I never like I like kind of costumes like that are that stand out in Ghost Town, they look like kind of a unique style, like cost like a pres a presentation of themselves, like they have a new style, and it's out of it's not the uh you know the casual werewolf, witch, whatever, demon. Got it, and but it's like it just looks so different out of the others, and you kind of like we're outside of the box, and that's why I s when I saw that I um I try, bro.
SPEAKER_06I try. Yeah, I was trying something different, be a little different, of course.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, and that's good though. I think that's great. As long as you're kind of like as long as it's not you're not doing it for like in in a way for validation for like some weird, weird uh from some bad validation, like you know how like when people um when when people wear these kind of costumes, I think they do it sometimes, and that's just some that do it just to get like clicks sometimes. And I I I don't know. Maybe it's because of the lore, it's like there's like it's paramet lore. I'm like oh well, all right. But like I I don't I don't think see you do that. I mean that maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm just maybe people are doing that just because of the character, you know. But like I I I do like it. I do like that. That that look during the time was great, it was cool, it was awesome. Um, so when you when did you like how first of all, let's backtrack this. Like how did you even like get into like the world of like Halloween and haunt worlds?
SPEAKER_06Oh, I love Halloween, it's always been, you know, it's been my I I just love it, bro. I I've done um haunted houses since I was 18.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_06In my neighborhood. There was no haunted houses whatsoever. And so I was just like, man, there's a bunch of kids out here just trick-or-treating. I was like, I want to scare these little guys, you know. Some of them act all tough sometimes, and so at the time, of course. And so when I was 18, and me and my buddy Sean, Sean Young, and um were just like, hey, dude, let's build this build a haunted house. He's like, Where? And I'm like, well, my house, man, we'll do it, you know. My parents were like all in too. They were just like, yeah, let's do it. We'll help you guys out. We'll we went to go get some wood, tarp, did our thing, got to be.
SPEAKER_02What were you living at during the time of all this? San Anna.
SPEAKER_06San Anna. Yeah. Santa, yeah. And um, so yeah, we did our thing, and um every year after that, I did it for like a good, I think it was three, four, or five years. Oh, by yours, and just doing a at home haunt? Yeah, for free. Just you know, and people would just, you know, give donations like you know, five bucks. But I didn't ask, I was just cool. I was just doing it for the you know, for the love of haunt. Yeah, I love it. And I was dressing up as it, I was dressing up as Michael Myers, etc.
SPEAKER_03Well what got you like as like before that? Like, what got you into like kind of like Halloween? Like what mode what what was the thing that kind of like inspired you to like like Halloween?
SPEAKER_06Oh uh like and just oh I've always been into scary movies. Um, you know, just what was the first thing that you liked? Um Michael Myers really kill you know being a killer, um Jason, uh It the clown Chucky, especially especially Chucky, yeah yeah. So um, you know, just I don't know, growing up with that, especially Chucky, like I said.
SPEAKER_03Um You used to watch him when you're a kid?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, man. Damn, damn. My parents were just like, hey, what are you watching?
SPEAKER_03You know, I I was uh I was I watched uh Scream when I was little and I got scared of that. But like I was scared the most I got scared of was The Actresses. The Actresses was like that one terrified me the most. Exactly too. I I couldn't watch it when I was a kid, but decades later, I now it's one of my favorite movies. Yeah, no, it's it's aw it's oddly enough, like one of my favorite movies to watch. Like I I watch I like to watch it, like it's a kind of uh in some ways I like to try to watch it before like the haunt season starts, you know, just kind of like pump you up a little bit, you know. Like I just watch like kind of like hype you up a little bit, but like I like along with like split and all that because it's my carnival character, and then um so I I I would watch it, but um that one like it's so funny how I I will still watch this day and I would look at him like I I'm still terrified of it because it's creepy as fuck, it's like so scary because no movie can make it like that to this day. But you if I but if I keep on watching it, I'm like, dude, I used to be scared of this fucking thing. Now I laugh at it every mostly every time. Because it's like it's fucking it's it's something of it, it's like it's funny because it's it's creepy but funny in some ways. But yeah, Michael Myers and all that.
SPEAKER_06They're they're no, but it the clown is what what triggers me. That's that's what pumps me up. I I watched that before, huh?
SPEAKER_03Did you watch the new series?
SPEAKER_06I have not.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's so good. Really? It is the probably the best. Um uh one that I I grew I'm glad that they're making these kind of series that are like kind of prequel series for for it, because it's kind of part of the book, um, at least or part of the book, I should say. Um and they're they're just making these things just like about like one timeline to another and how it's all connected to like the actually the two movies, and it's it's so awesome. It's so good. It's so good. I'm I'm glad that they're kind of like making that, but um, I recommend it. It's really good. It's really good. Kind of it's uh if you if you're a big fan of it, you you will get it. If you watched, have you watched the two new ones, uh the newer ones?
SPEAKER_06No, I have not. No, I just stuck to I stuck to the original.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the uh the first one to Tim Curry one, yeah, exactly. Hey, I mean, hey, pick uh you you hey that's what if everyone wants to pick to the cat the older one, then I mean no one wants to go with it. I mean at the same I that can be the same thing with Batman, dude. Like everyone wants to stick with the Michael Keane one.
SPEAKER_06Exactly.
SPEAKER_03Ninja Turtles, Ninja Turtles.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, like stick with the original Ninja Turtles, you know, exactly, bro.
SPEAKER_03I mean that's just that's just my thing. Yeah, yeah, I like that. Uh tell me about it. Um yeah, no, I get it. Uh so when you were doing that when you were a kid, when you're sorry, when you were 18, what kind of move you to do uh other things? Like did you try other things like other haunts or just I did, I did.
SPEAKER_06I tried um I tried Knots. Oh really? I was like, because I was I was after the four years of doing it in my neighborhood, I was just like, man, I was going to school, so then I was just like, I got I want to make some time to scare, you know, I miss it. And so I went to um I was already late for auditions for Knots. And so they're like, oh, we have this um opening for uh an infected um with uh what was it called? Um Infected. No, but as a the character just just a just a zombie. Oh, yeah, just a zombie. Yeah, zombie. I was like, hey, I'll take it, man. Zombie scareboy. I was just like zombie scared. Yeah, so yeah. I took that and it was it was cool and I met some cool.
SPEAKER_03Did you did you uh like when you did it, like were did you ever visit the the theme park? Like of of scary. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06When was your first time? Um that's a great question. Um it was like high school days, but I never thought I would I would you know be a character. I was always one day maybe I'll do it, but I don't think I'll ever have the the guts to come and audition. And yeah, but what this was when I was like 16. What year was that? 2000 uh 2001.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, they're during the time. You're making me feel old, man. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_06How old are you? 41. Oh fuck. I just turned 41.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yes, that's right. Happy birthday. Oh, the guy chica chicken. Um the so when yeah, it was 2001, but that must have been where during that I only remember during that time. I I wish Aaron was besides me because he he knows a lot more haunt history.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03But um 2001 was the gauntlet during the time. Did you go through like any mazes that you kind of remember?
SPEAKER_06I do not. I just remember going to the s mainly streets, just like getting scared, you know, oh here left and right. You don't remember that either? That that I mean that must have been a long time ago. Oh, yeah, it was it was awesome though. But um, I remember seeing uh what's the name Otis.
SPEAKER_04Oh no way, gecko, gecko.
SPEAKER_06It was cool, you know, to see that. And I was just like, I always thought in my back of my head, I was like, man, one day, you know, I'll I'm gonna do this. This is fun, you know, like you know, scaring. And um, there was a few haunted houses that I went to before I did mine. Um and so with my at my cousin's neighborhood, and I forgot where I think it was an orange. Anyway, it was fun, it was good, and I was like, Well, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I wanna do that, you know. I wanna scare the kids in my neighborhood. There was a bunch of kids in our neighborhood, and so I was just like, There's but there was nothing going on at the time, at least. And that's what like motivated me, I think, just to, you know, just like scare like to go and try something to this different, like to broaden your horizon. Exactly. My friend Sean got on up on board, he's like, dude, I want to do that too. And I'm like, hey, let's just do it, you know. And so I asked my parents for permission, and that's when we did it in the front yard, and yeah, people saw like, what are these guys building? And yeah, it was so cool.
SPEAKER_03It was so But like when, but like when you uh when you were the thought of just going to s to audition for Scary Farm, was it just like a thought? Was it just a spite or just was there something that kind of like uh triggered you to like get after it?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I thought to myself, I was like, man, I I I was just with the routine of just going to school every day, and uh, I was just like, man, um, I need to do something else. I want to do something else. I I miss. I think I saw um what was it? I think I saw Michael Myers with with a couple of buddies and um um I saw it at uh no his his sisters were watching the movie and I don't know why I just got motivated. It was so weird at the at their house, and um and so I was just like, man, I kind of miss it. And then my friends were talking about knots, and I was like, Oh yeah, you know, knots is cool, but universals is better, and they were deep they were just going back and forth. I was like, you know, whatever, whatnot, whatever. And so wait till you tell them that now, yeah, exactly. And so then, yeah, man, I was just like, I gonna I'm gonna look into it. You know, I just I was like, I gotta look into it and then just for fun, yeah. Yeah, at first, but then I was like, I'll look into it and see. And so I went, and yeah, that's when they told me, hey, you know, we're actually we just we have these positions available, but auditions are over or whatnot.
SPEAKER_03Oh, there so there were um they were filled with streets, but they were it was uh open rehire. There you go. Open re uh open hire, sorry, open rehire, stupid. Uh open hire is the one that they they did. Yes. And so yeah. I remember that.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Yeah. So then I was just like, well, we got infected that you can go into and be a zombie, and I was like, sign me up. Yeah, you know, like let's do this. What year was that though? 2000 uh that's a great question. When it first came out, they said it was new. Oh 2014.
SPEAKER_0314, right? 14, yeah. I remember that year because I started in 2013, and then they they shut down Forevermore. That was like where Infected was at. Or for Infected was at CS. Okay. So Infected was around there. I think they had Forevermore for one more year, if I'm correct, till 2014. Yes, they did, because CS around there, because they shut down Necropolis. Okay. Um, and they built the the maze for infected. Yeah. And infected became huge. It was huge. Yeah, right. It was huge. Yeah, yeah, right. It's gotta be weird just like to like get freaking. You're a zombie, but like what do you do? Do you go up to him and scare him? Like, no, you get shot.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you freaking I'll try to go up to him, but then yeah, I would get shot. Yeah, boom.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. How was it? How was it like just like auditioning for that?
SPEAKER_06Oh, well, they didn't really uh make us audition. They just told him, Hey, you know, no, they just gave it to you. Yeah, yeah. Oh, you're in. We we yeah, I guess. Wow. So I got in on that, and then um after that, then like were you all like on an on-call or something?
SPEAKER_03No, just just like they came in, I applied, and then because it was pretty much it was like based not sure if they were it was just a need or yeah, well, probably it was a need, maybe because I wanted to fill up more they they if if that if that was getting to a point if you were like because you must have applied when like late fall, like late fall. It was like in August, right? August, exactly. Yeah, so if it was like that time, then they probably needed some people right away. Because it's it used to be like that, but now I mean obviously it's completely changed, totally changed. You know, totally changed from that. Yeah, but they I remember they they would just kind of like bring people in and they're like, Yeah, you're gonna be you're gonna be here. Um if they if you apply just the the basics of the interview, then the general interview just pass it and then you're just fine. You're you're literally you can just you can step into like any of the mazes and but they're like, Alright, you're you're cobwed number 14. Like whatever. But they uh yeah, I I get that though.
SPEAKER_06But I was I was just pumped up to go back, you know, like to get in. Yeah, it's and so I was just like, man, I'm a scaring period. I just miss it. And um yeah, and then so then um I did it for obviously that season, and next thing you know, um I had a couple buddies that reached out to me the following year, they're like, hey, oh no, it wasn't the following year, it was uh later on. They were like, hey, we're gonna do uh 17th door. Oh and I did seven yeah, 17th door was was around the corner and you did that, and I did 17th door for like two, three years.
SPEAKER_03What so wait, what like so you did so you did infected. You had you I bet you had a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I had fun, but then I then I stopped.
SPEAKER_01Did you meet anybody there?
SPEAKER_06I meant um You probably that's where the name uh when I was looking at the picture, I was like Royal T. I was like, I met uh Johnny S.
SPEAKER_03Because Johnny Espinito was during the time he was doing the whole videography thing. He was, yeah. Well, he really got him motivated from from that guy I was telling you about Wyatt Roman. He uh I think it was him and uh Art Dracula. Well, him both of them were like, I think that got him to like motivate.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he would always talk about them. I was like, what the fuck are you talking about?
SPEAKER_03I met him when he was there, and he was like the skinny dude, long hair, yeah, and just like came up to he came up to Aaron and uh Vi and shook shook their hands. I was like, Who the fuck is this scrawny ass kid? And I shook his hand, he's like, Yo man, I saw you dude, you're cool, and I was like, Oh, the slides are fucking amazing, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude, you're so awesome, man.
SPEAKER_03I was like, oh shit. I was like, Oh, it's don't see you one day that I did a few years later. He's in Ghost Town. I'm like, fuck! Yeah, he would show me he's like, Look, look what I got, look what I got, like I met him, he's such an awesome guy. He's cool, cool dude. He's a little wild, but he's awesome. He's a little awesome, dude. But um, yeah, that but your cast, I mean your cast, you I wonder who it was.
SPEAKER_06That's a great question. You don't remember? No, not. I wish I remember who he was. Oh, I think jack Jackie and who else was it? I think I saw Jackie in there. Um being one of the the the um the leads or not the leads, uh the ones that would take all the guests.
SPEAKER_01Oh, line control?
SPEAKER_06No, no. When you know when when you go on that maze, oh you have someone lead it. Oh, like a uh squad uh squad leader. Squad leader, Jackie. Jackie? I think it was Jackie, I think. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, Jackie was in there. I think I think Jackie and Bree were in there. Yeah, there you go. Jackie and Bree winners were in there. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah, she told me about that. I forgot.
SPEAKER_06Um but it was more I didn't know them, but I you know, I see them around, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um they wanted to get art in there one time, but like I was hearing that they they uh I heard one time they made him like cuss. They can make they can like they were to speak whatever.
SPEAKER_04They told them like, get your ass on the ground. I don't give a fuck who you are. Get up, Chubby, you fat fucking piece of shit. Get up, get up, you scrawny, skinny ass woman. Shut the fuck up, you scrawny, you coke head, get up!
SPEAKER_03Like say shit where I would, dude. If they made me do that, I would have gotten fired.
SPEAKER_05I would have gotten fired right away. I'm like, dude, 100%. I would have they would have not don't send me there.
SPEAKER_03But they I th I heard during the time uh from what when um Sinatra was in there, they told them that they can say whatever they want. They were at the because they were like kind of the elite levels of the characters, so they can they were and they they it's to be part it's for the character too, you know, because you know the schwah leaders.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I remember them yelling, but I don't remember cussing as much.
SPEAKER_03I heard something like that. They were there, must have been a rumor or something, but they're or they they were just saying that just because like they're like, Oh yeah, well I can cuss. I'm like I don't know. Um but it was fun though, man. It's cool, yeah. It that Infecta was the probably the best thing um out of besides well, Paranormal was top one. Um Infecta was the best one that John Cook made ever. John Cook, uh, you met John Cook?
SPEAKER_06I have not met him. I met him. Oh no. It was like a more like a high and by thing. That's it, nothing like conversation-wise.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he's an awesome dude. I met him when he was the basically it was his, I want to say it's his last year scaring. Oh, yeah. And he was a prisoner. Have you seen him as a prisoner? Yeah, he was a prisoner and he wore this like kind of this ghoulish um mask and had like uh metal around it, like a kind of like a bear claw. Okay, uh metal around his like head. Uh I would I want to say it that it was, but like it looked really cool. And uh he um I want to say he either was it was his last year or he was just guest scaring. Yeah, but it he was there when I was there, and but he's been there for a while. And he uh he uh was our manager for a few years after and he took over it. Then he he always sees me. He saw me. I saw him at Carniv when I was at Carnival, and he was like with a group of people.
SPEAKER_06I yeah, I see him every year at least once, you know, rubbing around with his friends.
SPEAKER_03I'm glad he gave me some great compliments, but like he was he was with like some other people too, and uh I think the year a year ago, and he saw me and he like started pointing. I was like, oh shit. Don't point me, John Cook. I'm like, don't do that, don't do that. I don't want to get criticized. I'm instant. But yeah, he's uh he's awesome. He's a great scared too. Yeah, he's just he's he's the I would say he's the king of haunt, he's the king of this haunt world.
SPEAKER_06He made it all those stories, yeah, man. That's cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he had a he has a great history. Yeah, he's one of the best, I should say. He's one of the best at doing it. Um, so when you got to uh like what move like you just wanted to get into 17th door because your friends were doing it?
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah. So so no, because I was thinking, I was like, I'm gonna go back to Knots and you know, audition. Yeah, and my friends were like, no, let's go to 17th door, it's better. And I'm like, it's new, and I was just like, mmm. And it was uh a bit closer to home. So I was just like, all right, let's let's try it. I'll go with I'll go with you guys. What was it at during the time before in Tuston? Test in marketplace. Mmm, yes, yes, it was.
SPEAKER_03They took over Party City, yes, they did. Yeah, I did. I remember the They did, they took over party city because I was I used to live close to there for a while, and then that party city was there. And I was like, huge, it was huge, it was so big.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, how is this party city still exist?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then it's so funny now how they all shut down. Done, done, bro. Done, they're so dying, they're gone. I'm like, out of I'm I'm like, look, it was funny. I when I heard about this, I won't say it's pretty recent, right? When they shut down about a year ago.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03When they shut down, I I was I was, you know, my buddies were in a group chat, yeah. From Haunt, Aaron Vi, and why we're all talking, and then um I told them about Party City, and then we're just like joking that like knots is knots as fucked because they they rent all their they rent all their fucking masks over there because we call them because all the masks that they have for mazes and all the from Ghost Town, Carnival, all the all the streets and uh mazes they have, they're so generic and so plastic and weird. And I'm like, we look and we call them um party city mask.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if you heard that term. We call we there was a whole that was a whole term we call it. I don't know if it was just a meet uh like a few people that call it, but like I called it I could I heard party city mask and I kept on calling that for a while. So when the party city calls, I was like, oh dude, Knots is fucked. But I'm pretty sure they're not, they're just they they probably but they do they have grabbed if you go to Party City and you go over to Knots, they their masks are very similar. It really is.
SPEAKER_06That's right, grabbed one of my machete machetes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there you go. Yeah, it works, but um so how did you audition for that?
SPEAKER_01How would that be?
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah. So then I went and my friend uh it was uh my buddy he flaked. Oh, Sean Young. Um, it was a different friend. Oh, of your friend. And so at the time, yeah, but he moved out of state, and um, so then I was just like, man, I'm already here.
SPEAKER_00I'm just gonna go audition.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was just me. And obviously, uh of course other people, but yeah. Auditions uh were ready to go, and I was up and uh yeah, I gave him my all. You just did it. I gave him my all and I did it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03They're out there how was it different from the going to Knott's? I mean, it's gotta be different from Nazis auditions from here because I know you've auditioned before, yeah, uh years on, but like is it different from from the Knott's and 17th door? Are they kind of different?
SPEAKER_06At the time, yeah. I think it was different. I mean it's gotta be different. I was by myself, solo. They're all they put me in a room, gave me something to, you know. Oh yeah, yeah, they're all act out like let's see. And I just did not I just went boom right away.
SPEAKER_03It's gotta be different because it has to be more uh it's not so generic as like Not's. It's like so because like the 17th door is like all immersive. Yeah, and it's all like you know, physical touch, and you got you're verbally saying cussing out people or saying shit. Exactly, man. Yeah, you gotta that's that shit's fucking crazy. I I never been before.
SPEAKER_06It's it's crazy and it's it's scary, it's crazy. It's like it gives you like more like dude, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, that's what I hear from everybody. The guy's creative, man. They're the whole team's creative, yeah. The team over there. I've heard a full a few um I I must have said they were in interviews or they were uh I just heard a few people talk about their process and how they make it. They're they're very uh they seem awesome. They seem like awesome people. They seem like they were cool with me, man. I'm still cool with them. I see, you know. Yeah, that's cool. They uh um the but the things that they they do they were trying, they were risking to do the the shit's fucking crazy. Like I never been, and I think the only I was tempted to go one time, yeah, and someone told me I don't know who it was, I know it was from some someone from Haunt, but someone told me that like A, so I went into one room and they have you lay down and they throw a bunch of triantulas at you. After I heard triantulas, I was like, No, I can't do it.
SPEAKER_05I'm done.
SPEAKER_03Done. That's fucking that you do not put fucking spiders around me.
SPEAKER_06That's yeah, the guy had a bucket and just throws oh well you sign the waiver, you know?
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, shocked too.
SPEAKER_03That's the thing too.
SPEAKER_04You like you sign the waiver for that. I don't mind getting shocked, that's okay. But like But like you're but the fact that you're getting thrown at like I don't mind cockroaches.
SPEAKER_03Like cockroaches and the the the worms and all that, that's that's fine. Yeah, and all that. Um other bugs, I'm cool with that. Um my like rats, I guess, like it's a little scary, but because you know you want to get fucking rabies on like uh but the spiders though, I'm I I I know for sure I'm a ragophobia for sure.
SPEAKER_06I always so scared too because they make us like once you audition and you're you get in, they they make us go through the whole or were you and I was a demon pig or a pig demon. Yeah, yeah. So it's all dressed in black with a with a pig head, yeah, and had like a little faux hawk mohawk look.
SPEAKER_03How real did it look, the pig head? Was it kind of real or was it? I think it was real. Yeah, that was cool. I loved it. It was a weird smell. Yeah, yeah, that's gotta be weird. So were you like were you doing the more physical, like more physical, yeah?
SPEAKER_06I was just going crazy, man. I mean, everything I try to do, I'm just trying to kill now.
SPEAKER_03Was it weird for you? Because like jumping off from like doing a maze, a generic zombie maze, and then going to now 17 door where it's like immersive and you're face-to-face in contact with a person and doing things because they signed a waiver, so you're physically doing things, verbally doing things to them. Was it weird at all?
SPEAKER_06It was weird at first, but then you just you know, you just it just kicks in. Yeah, I think it just automatically kicks in, and it was just like you were just feeling it, just like the others. And I wasn't touching uh guests though. Like I didn't really do it.
SPEAKER_03I was just yeah, verbally and just attacking and getting close up, but that's a that's yeah, you know how that's gotta be it's gotta be weird because it's like it's jumping from you know excuse me, from streets to like or to mazes to there, it's gotta be like it's different. It's gotta be different.
SPEAKER_06Well the thing too is I think what helped me is when I like I said, when I made my when I did mazes, I mean uh in my neigh neighborhood, uh my parents' house, um, I think that's what helped me because I was just because we were there doing uh a bit of sliding and some uh you know just doing my scare tactics that I can do, you know, front back, side to side. I was just going ham. Yeah. And so that's that's from there that's what that kind of gives you. It was weird when I went to Maze to Yeah, because you were in one spot basically. Yeah, and so then when I went back to 17th door, that's when I felt like, oh, I can open again, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, be open and just kind of have a free, kind of like more you're more open range. Exactly. Have a free you're more open as far as like doing more things because it's like not as like as a as a zombie, you can't really do much. You're just going up to them and you're just getting shot and went bang. Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but it was totally different. But it was fun, it was you know you just gotta adapt yourself to it once, once, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's kind of the thing you have to do if you're really into it. It's like kind of like learning and adapt to it, because I mean it's uh I I don't know how easily it you can get adapted to those kind of things. I know some people are just are very some people are sensitive by doing that because like it's you don't you don't want to fucking con do do physical contact or or do like verbal contact with anybody, you feel bad.
SPEAKER_06You do at first, you do, but it depends who you do it to as well. Yeah, you know, and so that's I just you know I would see who's coming in, so then boom, you know, it just kind of triggers okay. I'm gonna tell them this, I'm gonna I'm thinking of this, and then oh yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_03That's the same thing with me if I do jujitsu. So when I do jujitsu, like I feel bad for the other person because like the the per some person some people are like scrawny or skinny, yeah, but they're really they're strong. Yeah, and I'm like, I can't fucking get this 200 pound of me like kind of on top of them, like fucking strangling them. You know, like with with uh Zoe Reborns uh with Christina over at uh Fulleton, it's kind of interesting how she does it. It's like she because she's the same thing, it's like 17 doors that are like very con uh close, you know, face-to-face contact, and it's like very creepy, it's everything's like haunted, but like, and they have shock stuff too, and they drag people, put bags over their heads, so it's like the that like I'm I I just feel like I don't know how she does it, she does it, but she's very successful at it, you know. But like things like that, like I I give her I give credit to them because like I I don't know how if I will handle that, like in some ways, because like you have not only that, you gotta like with all that to the side, you gotta still scare. Yeah, and I don't know that's like that whole side of like the physic the the grabbing and the physical or like the basically the verbal yelling is basically just the scary, like the more the scary side of it. Um I don't know, maybe that uh that's something you should I loved it, man.
SPEAKER_06I would I mean like I said, I wouldn't grab them as much. Yeah, you know, I just here and there, like you know, on the ankle, sometimes I get on the floor, I get on you know when is the right time to do something like that?
SPEAKER_03Is it like just whenever you like whenever it's like the whatever you think it is the right time, it's like oh I'm I'm gonna go after that.
SPEAKER_06No, I feel I feel like I I calculate it, you know, with uh with them walking in, depending on how fast they're going or whatnot, and then the music that goes with it too. Because there's like you know, popping sound effects on certain uh songs that they put on. And so that's that's when I would attack, you know, if anything. But if I didn't hear something and I missed it, it happens, fuck, you know, but I still would you know get them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, whatever reinforces the brand, dude. Exactly.
SPEAKER_06And if and if I couldn't, you know, um scare them, I would just make some loud noises, you know, or just yell at them, you know, come here, come get over here, and um or do them a little snort. Yeah, that's you know stuff too. Oh it was right on their ear, too, like right next to them, you know. They're just like not expecting it.
SPEAKER_03And it's just uh it's a whole that's a whole generic thing I always hearing all my fucking ears as at not uh fucking haunt every time someone will fucking do that to me, and I'm like it became that snorting thing, no offense, but like I'm not saying like saying it's a bad thing, I think it's a great thing to s uh to scare people with because I did it before, yeah, done for for a while. Uh but there was a time like where I got really like annoyed by it. Okay. And I was like, this there's gotta be something else that you guys can do, you know. That's why everyone does different things now. I barely hear that now. I mean, at least uh from my perspective, I that's what I hear. I don't I that's what I don't hear anymore. But um I hear more like screeching and like yelling and you know, more um more verbal um usage, like people you say say things to that to guests and all that. But that's uh you know, that's a thing that everyone is trying to learn too and adapt in as well. So um it's awesome. So how long did you um with 17th order? You did how long for that?
SPEAKER_06I think it was like two, three years. Oh really? Yeah, it was fun. It was good times, yeah. And then I moved to LA. Oh, really? Uh yeah, I moved to LA and um I uh I did a hayride. Uh Haunted Hayride, yeah. I did the haunted hay ride. Oh just once it was it was cool though, but I had a I had to stop because I already got I had a um during midseason I got offered a job too, like you know um in my career that I have now. And so I couldn't lose the opportunity. So but it was a great run, you know. I I did it for a short time. Yeah, haunted hay ride. It was it was fun, it was cool. Um, it was different. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um what what what motivated you to do something like that though? Because you were doing that, you were doing 70 door, which is like a very oh well the drive, you know, it was just a mission.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. So I was just you were living in LA, yeah, at the time. So I was just like, well, you uh Universal, I was already, I think, too late at the time, and then Hayride was you know uh doing auditions, so I was just like, Yeah, hey, I'm gonna go try it. And I got in. So it was it was cool. What were you uh in Hayride? Um they had me switch with different um costumes, uh like uh like a scarecrow, um like some type of alien. Like on the on the hayride. I was on the hayride, the actual ride, yeah. So I was popping out scares in the front? Um like midway. Midway. Oh it was cool.
SPEAKER_03Like yeah, but I'd never been to Hayride, so I wouldn't know, but like that's uh but I heard great things about Hayride. Yeah, it was cool.
SPEAKER_06Um it's not you you hear good things and bad things, you know. Right, it is what it is, you know. Hey, everybody has their own.
SPEAKER_03I went to their um opinion, their panel um last last year. I went to yeah, their panel last year. Um that was when they they took Alvira. That's when they took Alvira. They were um I think it was Hayride they took Alvira with over there. Yeah. And I was like, who shit. Like fucking, I can see all the people that that work at the executives at Notts swaying the shit out of themselves. Yeah, yeah. Um, but they uh because Alvira was you know, Elvira has been a big uh huge icon at Scary Farm for a while. She's been there for so long, and um then now she just left and now we we got traded for two drag queens. So that's okay, and that's okay too, guys. That's okay. The where are they called? The the Boo Hole Brothers or the Brothers of Destruction, yeah. No, I don't know. I I thought their name was Brothel Brothers at first. I was like, what? And then I I didn't read it really correct.
SPEAKER_01I was like, what the fuck their name are?
SPEAKER_03But um they're um I was cool when they came out. Yeah, they're they're like big fans, like big, like everyone cheered them on. Like they were big, huge, apparently they're a huge thing. I never knew about them. Same here. Yeah, but they were kind of like how like Elvira does. She come they they do signs and take pictures. Um they they uh they do the Boole brothers, they do uh or wherever they are, the the drag queens, they do uh um what's it? They do a show. I know they did I think they did a show or they just were talking one point. They did or they host a lot of shows too, right? Yeah, they did host a lot of shows. Um I know they did for the like the MCs, or yeah, they did one thing for the announcement for the the reveal. They did that, which I was there, I saw that. Um because like Jeff Tucker came out and then like we then uh um then they then the two girls, the two ladies came out, which I'm I was like, oh okay. So they're I guess they're gonna be a big thing from now on. I I don't know. So they'll be back. They'll I'm I'm guessing because once they got uh once Hayride got Alvira, I was like, oh shit, we're we're fucked. We're fucked. I mean that she was she was a big she was a big sal out, she was a big thing. I I I thought and but yeah, we still have shirts of her, so I don't know about that. I don't really know about the whole thing about Elvira and Knots and Hayride. I mean, I'm hoping it's uh I'm hoping that she went over there just because she wanted to get a better opportunity, and I was like, go. I'm hoping. I'm I'm hoping that she is because she's uh she was like you know, I'm not a big fan of Elvira. I'm not like I don't watch her movies or shows wherever she does, but like I know she was a big part of like haunt history, yeah. You know, so not it's part of not history. I mean, she was in that book, she was in the the the not, you know, the history of not scary farm that Ted uh Doherty made. That she she was a big part of that for years and years, and um and so that became like a big thing for for Scary Farm for a while, yeah. And now it's like um like I don't know, I don't know what happened. It's like it you kind of wonder why like she went to somewhere else besides here, because like you know, I I I wish I knew. I wish I knew about that. I I I I never got into it, but maybe she does, maybe she'll come back in a few years, maybe she just maybe she won't. And we have to kind of learn to just accept it, accept it, to accept that these these are two drag queens are gonna take over this great haunt um Halloween event. Um but you went to so Hayride, so hung were you were an alien?
SPEAKER_06They had me with like I said, different costumes. Uh oh, you were jumping off in different costumes every night or everyone. I felt like it was every night. Yeah. Like a scarecrow, then the like I said, the the alien, I don't know what it was. That's gotta be cool. Or uh um what was the other one? Uh different different things, like different characters. Yeah, yeah. But that's gotta be cool though. Here you go. Here you go. Like a costume, here you go. I'm like, all right, thanks.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but like I said, that's gotta be cool though. Like it's gonna be awesome to kind of like get to get like different like opportunities to do different characters besides sticking to one. Yeah, to kind of get your like feel what you wanted to do. Yeah, um, did you kind of learn like learn anything off of that when you were at LA Hayride? Um learn uh not really.
SPEAKER_06I mean just like I just learned scared, you know. No, I mean I was just doing my thing, you know, scaring and um like I said, I had a I had to kind of like stop, you know, halfway through the season because you know, I wanted to approach and pursue my career still. So and um yeah, so then that stopped for a while. Then I moved back to Orange County and yeah, and Knots came around, I was on time and I wanted to go audition, you know.
SPEAKER_03So that when you moved to Orange uh to back to OC, you were just that kind of motivate that motivated you to go to try Knott's. Was that was Knott's is always in your mind to like even though you were in 17 Doors?
SPEAKER_06You know, where all the history begins, you know. Yeah, you know, I was just like that. Ever since I did the first year, I was just like, I'm gonna come back and do streets one day, you know. And uh it was just well, you know, everybody has a goal, and so that was one of my goals. And so then, like I said, when I came back to Orange County, I was like, Oh, this is my you know opportunity, you know, I have time, I'm gonna go audition, you know, and find out when that is, of course. Yeah, and then boom, I went in. I I went I went killer mode, bro, on auditions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so how so because that was in 2021, right?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um you um how did that how was that for you? Because I know that was during the time they made us do video auditions.
SPEAKER_06I didn't, I did I had to go, I did the whole rehired thing, but um, but like the I term I couldn't pass the tape and I was auditioning with five others next to me, and then really after that, yeah, then they did uh one by one.
SPEAKER_01Oh at least that's what I got. Oh, so you came in, you can't you came in in person. Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah. I thought I must have thought they were Don't pass the tape.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, don't pass the tape and I didn't pass the tape. Yeah, they were making people um do some people do uh video auditions.
SPEAKER_06Um oh I heard about something like that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, something like that during the time. But I I must I'm I mean I must be uh it must be for some people because um people came in later or came in whoever came in earlier, because it was during the COVID, so it was just must have been during the time when they didn't want us to um be in person. So it was still kind of it was not really the high it was kind of still the high of COVID, but like it was still going down. Right. So slowing down, so it must have gave us the give you guys the opportunity to go uh try out. Um was that open hire?
SPEAKER_06No, it was uh was it open hire?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it must have been open hire because you got because you came in uh Yeah, yeah, it was sorry. Because that was in early August, right? Like must have been early August. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06But I and then I got I got Ghost Town. Oh, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, man. What did they offer you?
SPEAKER_06Uh just a gruesome. Gruesome character. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I was just like, okay. They're all they're all do you remember who was in the audition room with you?
SPEAKER_06Uh I saw was it John?
SPEAKER_03Johns.
SPEAKER_01I mean it was a bunch of Janets.
SPEAKER_06And um the Janet.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Johnny um what's his last name?
SPEAKER_06I forgot.
SPEAKER_03I I only know Johnny to win, but he used to work, but I start with him way back. But uh John? John John the manager?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the manager?
unknownWait.
SPEAKER_03Oh, uh John, oh, um John Aspirin.
SPEAKER_06Yes, John Asprin. He was like one of the main ones, at least that I saw. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Do you remember who auditioning with you with you though?
SPEAKER_06Or was it just No, just random people that I didn't know. I don't I don't see them to the card.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, John, yeah, yeah. John Aspirin was there. Um, yeah, I forgot he was there, and I know like pasta must have been.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, pasta, but like I I didn't really focus on pasta. John was the main guy talking to me. At least I want you to do this, do that, and I just went, you know, I went ham and he's like, where do you want to go? Where's your you know? I was just like, uh it would be nice to be in Ghost Town, you know. Yeah, and then he's like, Okay, second option, carnival. And then really say, All right, well, we'd like And you know, Ghost Town and Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So you your your two options were Carnival and uh Ghost Town.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, my yeah, my options were, but mainly Ghost Town and um I wish I I didn't think I was gonna get, but it was cool. But uh I did go all like I said, I I went all out and I was just like, hey, that's this is this is it, you know?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you kind of just have to give all your your all and you know it's okay. No regrets. No regrets, it's okay to be stupid sometimes, dog. Um but you you kind of give it your all and then just like then they just give it to you, dude. They give it to you.
SPEAKER_06Um and then when I when I saw the paper, I was just like, Well, they didn't tell me anything, I just thought you can go to next door, and I'm like, okay. I saw the paper and it said GTS. And I'm like, no. I was like, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Was was Ghost Town what like was the Ghost Town whatever in your mind?
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh school. Um, so when you got in, uh did you had a character in mind that you wanted to do? To be honest, I did not.
SPEAKER_06Um, they just when they told me gruesome, I was like, okay, cool. I you know, just be creative. I and um I was just like, Well, what am I gonna come up with? And and they're all we have a costume for you, and so okay. And it was just like, you know, just you know, your a vest, a button-up, jeans. I was like, okay, and then uh I had a mask that I got done. What was a mask? Uh just uh just a gruesome um decayed mask, like um look in, and um I was like, I'm gonna wear a wig. Like I said, I was wanting a long hair, and so I was just like, I'm gonna get a wig, a fluffy wig. It looked like Otis's wig, you know? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So I was just like, I'm gonna get that and see how it looks. And right. I like that at the time. I was just like, okay, it's different, but um, you know, I was testing out the waters, right? See what it'll fit.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you got uh that's how I think anyone should should do anyway. So it's like give uh let knots give you whatever they have, and then right after kind of get an idea, like right, and play with it, you know, see what matches, what doesn't match.
SPEAKER_06And I was just like, okay, this this looks cool at the time. And I was like, Yeah, all right, I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna go with it. Yeah, it was cool, you know. That's that's how you learn, that's how you move on to Yeah, that's how you evolve.
SPEAKER_03That's how you evolve a lot. I mean you uh I mean I think the best thing for anyone that gets into streets then is to yeah, it's great that if you if you learn, if you have something in mind, I mean, yeah, I should sell it. I mean that I think that's uh what a lot of people what a lot of people that are like uh new to streets, they're just already have a character in mind and have already have a costume adapted. And the best thing is is that they already have the the the um experience or the specialty to do things like draw a thing or like you know um design a costume the if for themselves and they they have that kind of uh talent to do. So they if they have that kind of skill, they're I mean that's a it's a bonus. Yeah. You know, they don't have to go their way around for people like me or you to like go up to people and like ask to like create my mask or create my costume for myself and pay whatever amount, you know, and then but they have that kind of uh that skill to do and then um then eventually I mean some of them you know pass and some of them don't. Just like some of them have to wear the generic, but g wearing the generic costume in general, it's like the I think it's kind of cool. Like if you don't have no idea what you're doing, just wear it and then learn to just go with the flow with it, and then you learn to adapt and flow and to uh get an I get an idea what you want to do. Because I think the best thing you the best thing is to like step in is to like actually step into streets and like scare. Yeah. They want to do that, they wanna step they want to get into streets so bad. Yeah. And um, but I think but they if they have no idea what they want to do, I mean or they have no idea, I think just audition and then just grab the costume and then just go there. But um you you had when when you uh when you got into streets that first night, like how was that for you?
SPEAKER_06Oh it was at first it was like I was uh a bit like nervous, but then like excited at the same time. And you know, one doesn't know what to expect, you know, their first night. And so I was just like, you know, hey, just like auditions, I'm gonna go all ham, go crazy, calculate my scares. Um, you know, and um so yeah, it was just it was amazing feeling, you know, seeing the guests come in and then boom, just going right after them, you know.
SPEAKER_03Especially of the pandemic, you know, like we're coming back, and then just like you know, everyone wanted to build a big That's what I'm saying, you gotta calculate all that, you know, all that comes to mind, you know. It's just like right, especially if you've been around if uh you know in in knots for so long, like for for me especially. Like, I just like I was I mean, I went to Ghost Town and I in 21 and I just didn't know if I wanted to come back or not, and I did for one more year, and I went with my guys, you know, Aaron, Vi and Wyatt, and they won't uh because Aaron and Wyatt were gonna retire, they were gonna be gone already. Um that was their last year. And we got to I I was very I was so I was on the fence of not coming back, and then Aaron told me to it was a it's a kind of a for me personally it's a great story because I was hanging out with him one night. I was at a um we were at the parking lot at the Braya Mall. I mean sorry, the Bray Mall. The Buena Park Mall. Okay, across the street from Knott's.
SPEAKER_02Totally different malls.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, sorry, totally different big malls. Uh but like we we went uh we went in, we were hanging out. I was like with uh him and a couple other people that were um that we know mutually, and everyone was telling me, like, are you gonna come back? I was like, I was like, I don't know. I think I'm just gonna take a year off because I've just been through a lot. He goes, like, well, um come back with me. I'm I'm gonna do one more year because I I'm I'm gonna move to Tennessee. I was like, I was like, I don't know, dude. Like I feel like I'm like just not feeling it. And um, I don't know if I have anything left for for knots. Like I was at that point in my mind, and he told me that like you have a lot of unfinished business to do. And I was like, you bitch.
SPEAKER_04How dare you!
SPEAKER_03I was how dare you once again. I was like, I'll think about it. And I then he told then he he rallied up the troops. You got all four, all three of us, and he's like, dude, I'm it's my last year, and going, I'm moving back to Tennessee. I'm moving to Tennessee. Um I want all my guys from my last year. I want to do this like the right way. I was like, all right, I'll do it. Then became one of my favorite years. That's one of my favorite years. It's awesome. It's got but it's gotta be cool for you though, to step in for the first time, especially after the pandemic, too. Like do after and then doing, you know, having a resume of like doing you know immersive like mazes and doing just a maze and different haunts.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was it was fun, man, because and I that's where I met Jason too. Oh, that's cool. So I ran with him a little bit, you know.
SPEAKER_03And I think that's where I first met Jason too. Oh, okay, okay. Yeah. And I met I think I met him, yeah, yeah, man, that first night for that first night.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was awesome. I'm more of a like if you notice, I'm more of a quiet guy when I I'm just yeah, I'm just focused and I guess you go, you know, that's just everyone has their quiet moments.
SPEAKER_03I think everyone's uh I was trust me, I think it's I think it's okay to like have a quiet moment like that.
SPEAKER_06But when when when Haunt hits though, like when you're like it's on like fog alley, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's game mode.
SPEAKER_06It yeah, it's game mode.
SPEAKER_03It's game mode. It's like you you're I'm like, get out of my way. Totally, you know. I'm doing it. I'm I'm out there fucking working, dude. Exactly. Give me out and like get me out there, get the fuck out my way.
SPEAKER_06If you're drinking, whether it be not verbally or verbally, I'm not gonna be.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're working it. You're working it though. Yeah, yeah, but that's gotta be like, you know, it's gonna be cool because like you're just you're it takes it takes time. It takes time to learn that. I was gonna say something else too, but I forgot. Um yeah, but I met Jason. I met Jason um the the first my my um my first year too. Oh, okay. Uh he was just I think he just got into I think that was his first year on the streets. Cause he did five years in mazes. And then he did yeah, he did five years in mazes and he did you know why he did that? He did he got in he told me that he did five years in mazes because he heard the five year rule of mazes. You did you hear about that whole thing? Fuck his rule. Yeah. The the first um the first um so back then when I started and then like years be behind that was um they did this rule that was just a uh not by knots, but like it was a haunt thing, like a haunt rule thing that you have to do five years, the five-year rule of uh doing mazes and before you get on streets.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_03And then uh then that became that obviously like you know, panned out like that that's something that didn't work to work out over the years. Eventually everyone started to like get into streets on their first year. So um, so that that rule just fitted out. But he told me, I I I told him like, oh um is this your first year? He goes, Yeah, it's my first year. I was like, um like oh you how long you done? He's like, I'm six. He's like, Oh, you haven't tried out for uh streets at all? He's like, No, I didn't want to. I was like, why? He goes like because I wanted to do the five, I want to do five years here. I wanted to like and but like you gotta think, dog. Yeah, no, you won't smack that motherfucker. I'm like, but like you you um I'm like dog, I'm like, but you gotta think like he was he wanted to like work his skill as a monster and just like build it and build it more and uh gravitate towards like he's ready to like go scare. Yeah, and like that's a good thing. I think uh I think every uh people should uh do not five years, of course, not to do five years, but I think people should try at least to go into mazes for a year or two, right? Uh two uh two minimum. I'm glad I did. Cool, you know. I mean that's great. I wish I did it. I wish I did mazes uh for my first year to kind of get an idea what's going on. But like I was very fortunate to get into you know Scare Force. Scareforce is kind of like something it it I didn't really do streets uh till later on the season. Okay. I was doing a lot of marketing stuff, so like I would go to like um to like swap meets and like colleges and scare for knots, and so I they had their little tent area, so I was scare with them, and they had the hearse, so I I get to ride on the hearse, you know, the hearse, like the little old uh vehicle. Yeah, I get to I was riding on that. I didn't drive it, but I get to ride that. I get to ride on that, so it was cool. Oh yeah, and um, so but like I got to learn about that, but like uh with later on uh during the season, I got to like be on the streets and actually learn learned a lot about it. I was like, oh shit. Like I think we still learn nowadays, you know.
SPEAKER_06You never stop learning, it's it's it's true fact.
SPEAKER_03I don't stop learning. I never do. I I learned I learned a lot too. Um I learned a lot, especially last uh last two years. I've I've the last the year before that and then this last year I did was you know I learned to you know you you learn a lot of things of uh different ways of scaring and learning the things of what you think about the event. And um I I think what I did last year was like to learn to have fun to not to like to not to be too serious of myself. Sorry about the little things or yeah, the little things. I learned to have fun and not to worry about the little things.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes we forget that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think a lot of people have issues with that. Like uh some people some people do, and some people have egos, and they that I think egos get in the way, or gatekeeping, and um they they get too much into the lore of the character, and then that kind of distracts of them to scare them like that maybe you don't need to do that. Like like um that that would bring up uh um Adam and Baric, he was teaching someone to do that. This um I want to say the uh year before that. He was telling me, like, yeah, I had to learn this one guy, you know, he was struggling, he was too much of character, and he needed to learn how to scare.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I taught him I needed to I I taught him ways of like not too much to think too much about the the character to learn to just scare. And then he got a and he got a great result out of that. The guy said he had a lot more fun doing that, besides like uh you know, poundering so much on the character the lore of the character. Right. It's no offense of people that do do lore of doing lore characters and all. That's I guess that that's okay in some ways, but if you're too leany, you're leaning too much on that, then it just affects you as a monster. I'm like, then I'm like, that's just theater shit, dude. I totally agree. I'm like, it's just theater act, dude. Don't don't fucking go go out there. We're scaring. Go. I think people are there to get scared. I think then people don't want to go up there and be like, oh well, that's a demon dragon. I'm like, no.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, no, don't do that. And I'm like, that's a demon angel. I'm like, we don't care. Like they they just want to just fucking scare me. Just scare me or not.
SPEAKER_03Just pop out of nowhere. Yeah, pop out of nowhere. I don't give a fuck. Yeah. Um, yeah, I think a lot I think people were too uh worried about that, but yeah, you know, things happen. Yeah, I've seen that. But um when you got into the your first year, because you met Jason, did you how was how was the first year for you overall? Was that something like you kind of like did you did you kind of like get a better experience of?
SPEAKER_06Oh, definitely got got a better experience. I learned a lot, I think. I um like you said, evolved for sure. And um it may it made you um go into the next year like, oh man, I want to come up with this or you know, I want to bring in this idea or this mask or this style of mask or costume or whatnot. It make it helps you uh just you know get creative more than what you are already. Yeah, did you stick with the same that one character you had in 21 throughout the whole season? I did. The only thing I think switched around was the mask a little bit, and uh I put the dreadlocks. Oh, okay. The whoopee, the whoopee hair. The famous whoopee hair.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the famous whoopee hair.
SPEAKER_06Hey, but I and after that, I'm not gonna lie to you, I I've seen a couple other people do the dreadlocks style too. Like they were uh they're I've I mean I'm not saying I brought it in, but I'm just I was like, hey, I I think I think it's cool to bring out like something like that in it's a unique style.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's a unique style. It's different, yeah. Along as you're like you're out there and you look, you know, you know, look menacing and then like you're scaring people.
SPEAKER_06That's what I was trying to go for, man.
SPEAKER_03As long as you're scaring people, hell, I don't know. I don't care. I don't care if you wear a dress dog, just fucking just scare. Just scared, dude. Um, but like I think it's I think it's cool. Like you just you want to like do something outside the box. Uh is it not to make it more generic in some ways?
SPEAKER_06Because like I my first year, like I I at first when they told me gruesome, I didn't I honestly I was like, okay, they're gonna give me some type of character. They're you know, I don't have to I don't have to pitch a character. So so that's what I just thought. And so the only thing I'll probably do is maybe a mask, you know, and which I did. And then but then like I said, they just you know something very very very generic. It's a generic character. And so I didn't am I gonna make a big deal? No. I mean I know some people it's your first people, yeah, exactly. It's your first year. Yeah, some people have made a big deal, I've heard.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, you know, because I was like it's fucking wild when people like their first year and they're like, oh my god, I just don't like this map. Right, exactly.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, I want to I want to cut this up and like make it to myself. I'm like, dude, dog, shut the fuck up. I'm like, don't, don't like just learn, just learn how to use it first. Yeah, be glad that you're actually in streets, like I just said, be glad. Be grateful, motherfucker.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, be grateful. You know, like you're you're you're grateful that you got in and you got to you worked this hard to get on streets. Yeah, and the fact now you're complaining about a a costume that you don't you're not agreeing to. I didn't agree with my costume. My my costume was a fucking jeans overall, it was a denim overalls, a fucking big old duster coat, uh a big old hat, and a fucking big mask that I I I just was swaying the shit out of. It was drenching, it was so bad, and I just didn't like it. I didn't like the smell. And then yeah, eventually like I learned how to do it one year, and the eventually it just evolved uh more and more as I go. But like you gotta you gotta fucking just go with it sometimes, you know.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes you gotta especially like your first year, you can't just expect something like oh, I'm gonna get a badass costume. Right. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Your first year should be the one to get your foot in to get the idea, and then you kind of evolve from there. Exactly. I get it for some people that are very lucky that they already have a cost, they like I said, they have a costume in mind, they they they already have a character in mind, they make it. But yeah, that's the first you go with that character, but that's your first, like it's your foot in the door, yeah. But learn to go from there because like you never know how long that character is gonna be. Exactly. That character can change drastically in the next season, yeah. You know, like you if you don't feel like that character, you're like, well, I'm gonna change a different character, and that's great, you can do something else, and that that makes you that motivates you to do something more and more, and that that's where creativity comes from. Exactly. You know, I think that's uh that's awesome. But like you so the going the next season, because that was in 22, right? Yeah, yeah. What what was the idea with the because that's how I met you, but like with the with was it all dark? Explain the cost of the stuff.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was it was just a a black vest, uh black grayish button-up with scarecloth and uh ripped up jeans and what was the idea of that? Uh more like uh I was trying to create like a voodoo character, but at the same time, I because I first I was thinking more like the mask and the and then um just like what I'm gonna wear, like whether it be a wig or um a hat, uh, depending. But yeah, I was already too late with everything. So how did you get the wig?
SPEAKER_03Uh the the so how is actually this how was the how did you get the wig idea?
SPEAKER_06Oh the wig, I was just like, man, I I I I've seen um I saw like uh what was it? Uh um it was a commercial and so I was just like I don't know why the wig just stood out in in a um in a commercial of uh it was like a Halloween commercial but very like not like popular anyway. Um so then I was just like, oh, you know, like dreadlocks, you know, why not, you know, and then I was just like man, but at the same time, I was just like, okay, well, I'm not gonna wear that that yeah, the spongy uh wig that I wore the first year. Right. I was like, I just want to do something different anyway. And so um I was like, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do dreadlocks. I'm gonna do something different. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so anyway, so once I how did you make uh how'd you get did you get somebody to make that for you? Um no, I bought it. Oh, you bought it? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06How did you buy it? Yeah, I bought it. You bought it at like a random store? It was some lady that I guess she makes them or has some already just done. And so, yeah, I reached out and I was like, hey, I'm interested in this, you know. Was it was it someone involved with haunt or just someone just like designer? Yeah, just the designer. Oh and so I was just like, man, I'm gonna you know, mix it in. Mix it in.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and so was she worried?
SPEAKER_06No, she loved it. I showed her a picture after, she's like, Oh wow, that's cool. You know, it's did you I didn't expect that though.
SPEAKER_03Did you have like a like a draft, like a kind of like an idea, like an art uh concept? No, no, no, just in my head. Oh, just in my head. Just in my head, yeah. Yeah, it's best like I have had to do that a lot too. It's like a lot of things were in my head. Yeah, and I had to like explain to like some of the artists or some of the some of the people that like were making my master at the time like I want this. I'm trying to make it like this, and then or the costuming too, like I want to I want to make it like this, like the a lot of things, like a lot of things like that. That's why I like I feel like people that are that can draw or can make costumes are so lucky. They're like they are able to like do the things like that. They're they have that bonus skill. Yes, and then they're able to make it. Um, you know, mad credit to them, credit to them a lot. Yeah, I think I think I think it's great. But um that that so how were you nervous of like or was was that something that you were hesitant to like show to the management?
SPEAKER_06Um yes and no. Um, but they just approved it anyway. I feel like it was just I they didn't ask me what am what am I? I just said I'm gruesome at the time because I didn't have I didn't know if I was gonna be the voodoo after all, because I didn't have certain things that I wanted done at the time.
SPEAKER_03I was just like where did so eventually you you as when did the voodoo idea come through? Was it like during haunt or like beginning?
SPEAKER_06Uh right, yeah, right during haunt, pretty much. But um I was just like going back and forth, like what am I gonna be? What am I gonna do? And I was just like, man, just you know, go with the flow and you know, see what you come up with. And um I felt like I was just like it was just one of those uh times where you're just struggling. I think I think everybody comes to a year or or whatever it is, um, where you know you just it's this maybe not your year. I don't know. Yeah. I felt like I f I felt I don't know, I just felt like I wasn't I was being creative to a certain point, but then it just it all fell apart. It just all fell apart. I was like, I want to go for this. Why do you think it fell apart? Um either because I wasn't um prepared, I guess you could say. Um that As I wanted to be, as I thought I would be. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And so did you think of the character like a year before, or was it something that you thought of like kind of last minute?
SPEAKER_06Last minute. And um, but at the same time, I had like the idea of going with it and not going with it, because I wasn't sure if it was gonna fit in or not.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So then that's why I was just like, okay, well, if I go all black, you know, with the vest, button up, jeans, and um, and then maybe like some I was gonna get some scarfs and some more layers on me. And then obviously I got the mask and then the dreadlocks. I was like, maybe I'll make it, you know. Yeah, then it just kind of just went through, just yeah, and so but yeah, that wasn't the case, you know, and I was just like, man, I you know, I thought this would be a little easier than oh, as you got into to to scare?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. What was so what was the ish like was it just like understanding the character, or was it just like the scaring part of like was it just uncomfortable because you were just I felt like I'm uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_06I felt uncomfortable, definitely. Um, because I felt like I was like, what am I doing? You know, I'm trying to I'm over here trying to create a character, but it's not coming up, it's not it's just not clicking, you know. And so at least just for me, it it I wasn't feeling it, so I was just like, what the hell am I doing? Why am I worrying about like this fucking voodoo character? I was like, fuck this. I was like, I'm gonna go out there and just scare. I already have my mask, I have my my dreadlocks, I have my fucking have a costume, period. Fuck it, you know, over this shit. Yeah, fucking just went out, didn't you know, did my thing. Um but yeah, it was just yeah, it was yeah. People would ask me, Well, you know, backstage, what are you? I was just I said like a voodoo character, and so I was just like that's the hardest part, you know, like when people ask me, you know, and so I was just like, oh fucking voodoo character, you know.
SPEAKER_03Well people are going like people the mo I think the most challenging part is people when people go up to you and ask you, yeah, because they're you're gonna get different answers from people. Because like people are gonna like even when I was the when I was uh at Carnival, they people were telling me like, where are you? I'm like, I'm just a multiple, I'm a split personality character, and they're like, Oh, okay. Like and then people then I told them the same thing, and they're like, Oh yeah, from like split. I'm like, sure. Yeah, because it was like, I mean, yeah, it was basically from the movie, of course, but like I I wanted to be something like way different from like the movie, of course. I would just was that's why I wore the the tuxedo and the pants, and I I did not know what I was doing. I just kind of like went out there, but I wanted to be the my goal was to go in there was to be like the like their uh the Dustbull era of like how Carnival used to be back in 20 like 2014 below, like year like when they were just like dirty hobo looking and like I I I did, I wanted to be able to look dirty and just look raggedy, and that that's what I I wanted to come up uh come up with and show. Which I did, it was it was pretty awesome. And but like, yeah, I get it though. It was just something that you when you do something like that, it just you kind of just had to drop everything and just like go out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because if it doesn't click, then it doesn't click, you know, and you just fucking go all out and you know, just scare as as you you know that's what you signed up for, right? Yeah, so it's just like some people take it to the to the to the extreme, like, oh this is gonna be my character, and you know it's like hey dude, you gotta realize that sometimes, yeah, you may have the idea or the painting, the drawing or whatnot, but it's not always gonna come.
SPEAKER_03It's it when things don't fault and don't click and don't c uh connect really well, they just don't you you just kind of have to like drop everything and just go. That's how I felt. Yeah, that's how that's because I because when in doubt, just scare. I think that's the that's that's the thing. It's when in doubt, just go up there and scare because you exactly if you have no idea what's what you're doing, just go out there and do it and then hope for the best. Right. Because you don't know if you're gonna have the same character back next year or you're you're gonna be in somewhere else. You you you don't know because the managers are gonna give you give you different answers, yeah. You know, especially in in that game. So like I I for me it was it was very much like then 2024. Oh yeah, dude. It was it was oh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06I remember you were like, and I would see you, I was like, man, what the fuck is wrong with this car? Like, I'm not I mean, I um yeah, usually he fucking you know is out there working, but this guy is struggling. I I could just sense it, you know, and I just like yeah, hey, maybe it's I don't know, maybe it's not his year. I don't know, like no, it wasn't my no dog, dude.
SPEAKER_03It was not my year.
SPEAKER_06Who the hell has a perfect perfect years you know back to that comment?
SPEAKER_03I don't think so. I think it's more of like you're in it's more evolving years where you're you're developing something and it's it's growing. Yeah, I don't think it's like six. I don't know about success, like perfect. I don't think no one's perfect, dog. No, no one's perfect, dude. I don't think at all, because like if people are thinking that way, then you're you're in the wrong fucking area. Get out of here, get out of here for that shit. And that's just like that, that's that's involved with ego. It's it's egotism for it for that fact, because they think that they're perfect here and they have the perfect character and they're getting well recognized and all that, and yeah um, and it's like but you if you're you're all of a sudden like not connecting well with a character and you're not scaring well, then fuck, what are you doing? Yeah, what the fuck you're doing? Just go out there and scare. Have fun. I mean, that's the only thing. That's what only I think I did. It's just like I dropped everything I said, you know what, I'm just gonna go out there and fucking scare, and that's all I'm gonna do. And um, you know, that's it's uh that that's that's how I that's how I did it, and I had to do the best of it, make the best of it, you know that um, you know, but like yeah, it was it was bad.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and I'm admitting to it, you know. It's it was struggling, you know. Like I'm with those characters. That that's the that's the best thing, you know, especially don't admit to it, man. That's right.
SPEAKER_05Right. And I fucking don't like those people around me. Man, those people are just like I could smell bullshit from them from across. I'm like, I can smell them from far away from fog alley. You smell like shit. I had this you know planned for years, and then yeah, it's just fine. You're like, oh, it's been playing for years and I'm doing good. I'm like I don't figure it. I don't see you backstage a lot, dog.
SPEAKER_03Fucking weed one fucking all around there complain. But like I I I get it. I I uh it's just like you have to admit to your s mistakes, and I I think a lot of I think some people are not doing that these days. And it's like it makes it it makes it harder for them for their career and over the years, because if they don't admit to your mistakes and you admit that you're like, yo man, I fucked up. I I uh I thought I had this character that was gonna work out and it didn't.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh all of a sudden I um you know, like I've I went out there to ex, you know, I accept it and I um learn to do better, learn and uh to adapt to become a you know, just um learn in what? Learn in uh um you know, you learn to get better. I I was thinking of a word, I don't know why I was struggling on that. But like you know what I mean. But like it's just like things like that just happens and it's you know, I I wish people some some people can all to admit to their mistakes. Yeah. But it's hard. It's uh and it's hard. I get that. I it's hard, it's hard to admit for anything that you you fucked up on and or you you just um you struggle you're struggling on, but like because I think the thing is is like people they they want to uh to re they have this obligation to reach to a certain potential that they have to get better in order for them for them to people to like like them, to like to to evaluate this uh good validation about them. And I I I'm like, but if you're struggling then I I just I'd rather you just submit it. I'd rather you just submit it, dude. Just don't do that. Um so when did you learn how to slide?
SPEAKER_06Um after that, um I went to uh honestly I went on a random day and um to that Chapman Sports Park. Sports Park and I I bought all my gear and stuff and um I I kid you know, I went by myself, man. I was like, I want to learn. You know, um I kind of did it um when I did the Haunted Amazes at my house. But I didn't do it like that. Yeah, you don't have like no, you don't have the uh top gear like as you do now. Right. And so anyway, so then going back to that, um I met uh what's his name Carnival guy, uh the referee. Oh, Paul Vertigo. Yeah, Mr. Vertigo. There you go. Yes, yes, yes. Paul Vertigo is awesome, yeah, man. Um great dude. Yeah, that guy, uh I guess he's he's there certain days to you know, yeah, he's there a lot.
SPEAKER_03Well he's doing he's doing there, uh he's been there quite a bit because he he works with uh Queen Mary. That's right. Oh, he's there a lot now because he does the boot camps and all. So he's there quite a bit. Good guy, man. And uh great dude, great dude. I I I've I'm very fortunate I got to tag team with him last year. Yeah, and he's just he's so fun. He's just so fun to work with.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and so I I followed him on Instagram and I was just like, I saw that you know he was gonna be there, but I didn't I didn't expect, I was like, they're probably not gonna be there, you know. So I was just like, and I messaged him saying, Hey, you know what, uh it'd be great to you know get some pointers, you know. Yeah, but I never heard back, so I was just like, fuck it, you know. I was just like, I'll go, and I'm sure this guy's busy or whatnot. And so I went and yeah, man, he was there with a couple buddies, and I put on my gear. He's like, he's like, hey dude, good thing you came out. And I was like, nice to meet you and for, you know. Uh you know, and so yeah, he he gave me some pointers, man. He's like, just go with the flow, don't think about it too much. And I'm not gonna lie, he was he was he was there and he taught you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have to admit, he taught me, and I and I told him, Hey, dude, I'm gonna be th thankful every you know, he's a great, he's a great dude to like learn about sliding, especially when he does all uh especially we he does the shows for Queen Mary. Yeah, he does a s he did the Slier Night show. He's really good at it, but like he's you know, he has he has some thick slides. He goes, he goes in. I see him slide and he does some like he drops like huge. Because I I mean he's a big boy, yeah. But like he goes in and jumps and fucking slams on the fucking floor because he has these waltts, he has walt gloves, yeah, exactly. He has the welder gloves, and he's they're huge. Yeah, the guy's good, and so he's great.
SPEAKER_06He gave me some pointers, man, and taught me too, yeah, at the same time. So I told him, yeah, I'm grateful for was it kind of hard for you at first? At first, uh yeah, it was because I wasn't calculating right, you know, when you slide and so but little by little I kept doing it, I kept going over. And yeah.
SPEAKER_04I wish I learned who taught me, I wish I knew who taught me. I think it was I I think it was I gotta say Aaron or Vi that taught me.
SPEAKER_03Um but I want to give them too much credit because I I think I I kind of learned I kind of like fed off of them what they were doing. Yeah, I saw like I saw and applied, or learned and applied from what they did.
SPEAKER_06Exactly. You kind of get the idea, but then at the same time, uh when it when you do it, you're just like, oh shit. Right.
SPEAKER_03Okay, then then you can but I I remember one year, um, I don't remember what year. I guess I don't remember what year it was. I was still young in the uh I was still new to it, but like I remember one year I went to Chapman Sports Park. I remember I'm meeting up with Greg Daniels. Um he was involved with haunt for so many years, and he was part of the Decay Brigade, of course, too. Got it. And uh he he taught me a few ways to slide too, the better like more ways to like proper way to slide. And um, as I had a hard time, like the way I was doing it was just looked so uncomfortable. Okay, so like he taught me ways to just put your hands forward or when you do it uh jump when you jump, like leap over it type thing, or control and all that dancing go just like that, you know. Yeah, yeah, because I saw uh because I was just learning more of the the the basics of sliding. Okay, and uh it was fun. It was fun like learning that, but like I wish I knew who really taught me. I was like, fuck, I remember, but like I kind of I I kind of like was feeding off a lot of people. I just like learned saw what people did and I applied it myself. Exactly. It's kind of like what you do in all things, just like you see that you see people what they do, and you're like, Oh, that's cool, maybe I'll try that, you know. But um, so you learned off for a go, but like, yeah, um, did you have feeling you were gonna come back from Ghost Town or was it because you had to audition the second year, right? Yeah, and I went all ham again, and yeah, and I got in. It was cool, and uh did you had a so when you came back, did you have um that because it was uh your third year? Yeah, um, did you had that same voodoo character in mind or just no, no, so that's when uh El Gallo Negro.
SPEAKER_06So I I was I was talking to prior year, I was talking to Jeff, big Jeff that's in um yeah, Jeffrey. And so because he he was El Vaquero, yeah, and uh he's like dude, we should be compadres, we should be guy, you know, and I was like, Yeah, we should do it together, you know. But we're just speaking out loud, you know. Yeah, it wasn't like a serious idea, and but I and then he's like, But I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm leaving the Gorin. And I was like, What?
SPEAKER_01He was in oh yeah, he was in Gordon, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and so I was like, Oh, okay, well then I'll just I'll do it by myself then. And he's like, hey, do it, but if I stay, I will we'll do it, you know, we'll do that but we were just messing around. We didn't take it. We were I was like, Well, is this guy serious or not? You know, and so yeah, and then that's when um I was like, okay, well, he's not coming back. I'm doing I'm doing this, you know, and I got the poncho, and you know, I was just like, well, what are the theme colors of you know ghost town? And I was just like, well, I've always seen the purple and the black and the white, and people tell me no, it's orange, and I'm like, Oh, okay, well, I wasn't here during that time. So what I see is purple, and you know, I'm gonna fucking do that. And so, yeah, and um, I also got reached out by this guy, um Roman. Uh, he's at the Hunted Car Wash, he's a slider, good kid. Uh he's like, hey man, um just he's like, I s I I've seen you like you know out there. He's like you know, he's you scared me, and I was like, Oh, you know, thanks. He's I was like, Well, I'm not gonna be that character, you know, no more, which is the voodoo. And he's like, Well, I I do costumes too, and I I like make them for you know for my friends and stuff. And he's like, if you ever need a costume, let me know. And I was like, hmm, you know, well, I'm like, well, I want to, you know, if you can help me out with this, you know, my poncho. He did my poncho. You know, I put the scare cloth. I had all the scarecloth and I gave it to him and he did it for me.
SPEAKER_03You bought all the stuff and then you gave it to him. Yeah, exactly. And he made it. Did you have better? Did you have an idea what the character you like? When did that character ever like come to your mind like at first?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I was like, Well, there's no I feel like Latino quote. Yeah, Latino character, you know, representing. So I was just like, hey, you know, I'm gonna be the first. And so I was like, not the first, um, because it was Jeff, I guess, or even before that time, I'm sure. I'm so sure. I'm so sure. Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03There was any like teenagers.
SPEAKER_06I think Ed, I think Ed was dressed up as he does that like in others.
SPEAKER_03He does that one night. He'll come up, he'll come up with this fucking poncho.
SPEAKER_06He'll come up with the sombrero hat, he'll rattle his snake, and he'll just start doing you know, so that's why I was just like, man, I gotta I wanna bring something back, yeah. Like something like that. Um but anyway, and then I want to talk in Spanish too, not just in English and scary, you know, in both. And so um, yeah, so then um I was like, oh yeah, I gotta get my sombrero going. Um and then I reached out to Blue Body.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_06Blue Body did my mask. I was like, I want it different this time. I want it, you know, I want it more decayed. I want to I'm going for this type of look. I kind of did like a little sketch. Um, I kind of drew it, but it was very not like the pros nowadays, of course.
SPEAKER_03That that um that mask, right? Oh, that mask with the the ghost town, the tan one right there, the 10-year or the five-year award. Yeah. Yeah, that one. That one's the one that Luke bought except for the scarecloth I added. Okay. But the mask in general, he he made that for me. He made that that was my old masks when I started when I got that in 2015 or 16. Okay, okay. Yeah, he made he it had teeth on there, and I just kind of I I didn't like the teeth, so I just cut it up because I wanted to be vocal. Yeah, yeah. So I put that and I just put like uh Ben Eye around my my face and then all that so around my my yeah, look around my face. And then um yeah, but it's cool though. Yeah, Lu Bai makes some great masks, but he he makes some interesting masks, but he has a very scary house.
SPEAKER_06Oh dude, I went yeah, I went to his house and uh his wife and and him agreed me and yeah, I mean we went to work, but at the same time, yeah, I was kind of like I think I'm at the right house. A little hesitant. I was like, where do you live?
SPEAKER_03I I told this story so many times on the show, but like there was a time when we like when when I went to his house and he was about to do the the scalp or the wherever the um you do the first draft of your face, yes, um the clay or whatever that's on your face, can't even breathe. Yeah, so I went to I I thought, like I said, I like you, I would thought I was at the right house because it was just dead dirt, uh dead grass and dirt around there in the front of the house, and I was like, what the fuck? And then then he's like, Oh yeah, come in the back, and I was like, All right, and went to the backyard and there was like fucking shit everywhere, and I was like, Oh my god. And then right when I got into the gro the garage, it was fucking boiling hot. There was mask everywhere, and there was a there was a chair right in the middle. I was like, fuck, I'm dead. I'm fucking dead, dude. I'm fucked. Then um, then I was like, fuck, I'm so scared. Then uh, but he was so cool.
SPEAKER_06Cool guy, he grew me through the front door, and I w and he I did it, I he did it to me in in the kitchen. And yeah, with my wife right there.
SPEAKER_03He's an Imagineer at uh Disney. Oh wow yeah, I think he's an Imagineer engineer. Okay, and but he does he does uh the art department over there at Disney. He's done it for a long time. I don't know if he still does it now, but he's still is uh but I remember he was still there during that time.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, he's done all my masks so far.
SPEAKER_03So it's uh complaining. Did you kind of when you were asking him for doing the masks, like did you had an idea what you wanted to look like?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. And I kind of like I said, I kind of sketched it out, but like I I in other words drew it. Um and so he had the idea, he's like, Oh, okay, I I kind of get what you what you want, and I'll make it more decayed too. And then I was like, I want the mustache too, you know, and a little cheat right here. Yeah, and then he's like, Okay, I got I got it. Yeah, he's like, You're gonna wear a poncho, right? You're gonna have sombrero, and I'm like, Yeah, I'm gonna be like a you know, like an outlaw bounty hunter, um, but at the same time, I'm still developing my story. Yeah, and so yeah, he's like, Oh, okay, cool. He sounds good. And he's like, he's like, I'll I'll let you know what I come up with, and boom, and fell in love with what he came up with. Yeah. Yeah, he does great.
SPEAKER_03He does great. Oh my god. He does awesome with it. Um what was some inspirations though when you for this character for this LD Core?
SPEAKER_06Um I think uh well Jeff just seeing Jeff out there, it was just it was just funny to me. Like uh as El Vaquero is just hilarious. But uh, he was more funny, and I felt like I was like, I want to tag team with him. Hopefully, we know if he accepts or whatnot. And then I was just like, if not, then I'll just go alone, but I'll be like with a more serious one, the more you know. Yeah, because you want to be an outlaw, yeah. Outlaws are more serious, yeah. Yeah, and so I was just like, you know, I want to be you know different from him. He'll be the funny one, I'll be the fucking anyway. And so yeah, that just developed little by little, and I was just like, okay, cool. And I got the purple color, I got purple and black going. And then later on, obviously, the story developed with you know, um, the whole story with uh with the gallo negro. I'll just mess around with the guys back stage. We we just talk ish on each other, and so when I came with uh with my whole costume, they're like, Oh, you have a different costume this year, and I was like, Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I was I was excited, you know, for it. And um once I put it on, and they were still getting ready, and I put my poncho and I had feathers on it. I don't know if you remember, but I had some feathers on it, and I fucking just I don't know, just like kind of like practicing, and um, get those what the fuck, all these feathers going everywhere, and I was like, and they're all fucking rooster, yeah. So I was like rooster, and I was just like rooster, rooster, and I don't know why it just clicked and I was like, oh gallo, you know, gallo, you know, because el gallo negro is just uh it's a killer name, it's just someone that kills pretty much, you know. El Gallo Negro, like if you know you go to those rooster fights, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, El Gallo Negro was part of one of those.
SPEAKER_06It's yeah, yeah. And so um I was just like, oh gallo. And anyway, just and then they're all and then Chris, I I think it was Chris or uh Alex, they were just like they were just kept going, Fucking rooster, you fucking feathers everywhere, you know? And then um, and then um yeah, I was like, Oh, you know, it just stuck to me at first. I was like, the rooster, rooster, you know, I was like the black rooster, and I don't know why I just clicked for some reason, and I came home and my dad's like, hey, my dad and my mom were like, Hey, uh, how was you know Knotts, you know? And uh they're all you you were telling us that you're gonna pitch a new character or something like that, and can we see it? And I'm like, yeah, and I showed him pictures, and my dad's like, oh, he's like a fucking like uh like with all these feathers, like yeah, and I was like, Yeah, you know, I was like, oh okay, like what do you have? Like fucking roosters? And I'm like another person that says roosters, and I'm like, I don't know why I just and so I I told my wife too, and I was like, perfect. purple and I was like yeah you know it's like the theme colors of you know Ghost Town and and uh she was just like oh it looks cool looks looks awesome and then she's like what's up with the feathers and I was like well I'm you know fucking and that's when I said well I'm el gallo negro and she's like she's like what uh that sounds that sounds kind of cool like the name you know I was like I was like no I'm just I'm not gonna say I'm el gallo negro yeah man and so um so then that's that's when uh the guys would you know from the DLC would be like hey dude so what's you know what's your name and uh I'm like oh I don't have a name and and they're all like yeah you're gonna be the rooster bro like I think it was Chris or Alex that said in there you're gonna be fucking the rooster and I was like the black rooster fuck you know those fuckers are evil and I was like that's just a nickname bro and so then um yeah I just came up with the storyline with you know um I'm gonna be El Gallo Negro uh going through um Ghost Town with you know my whole I'm not I'm not sure if you if I told you the story no you haven't told me the story at all okay okay it's um it's pretty much um uh uh like I said uh pretty much law banded that just you know just goes out crazy went into ghost town one day and was holding his uh his chicken and roosters because I held uh rooster fights and so I brought it into ghost town and um with all those you know fights going on with between roosters I would you know hold uh hold off competitions here and there and so next thing you know uh all these feathers go everywhere because of all the all the fighting that goes on between them you know and um so then that's what I would hold down and obviously the the witch does the curse does the curse on me and goes oh you know you're the aircraft and so so from there on it just you know it just stuck stuff stuck with me you know I was just like man I gotta you know I wanna I really want to develop this and it just it just kind of clicked for me you know and out of all your characters you don't yeah uh yeah and so I just I was like yeah I'm I'm sticking to this you know I I really love it I like I'm feeling it and um you know it was funny because uh I don't know how they heard maybe they've they heard uh one of the guys call me that but um in the when I went out to scare I I heard a couple guests like they they said uh oh that's it gallo and I was like he is not is he talking to me but I think because of like Alex or Chris called me that you know just to because we're going on oh hey we're going on break but they would call me but hey gallo we're going on break and so I was just like all right you know and people like I I don't know if they caught on to that and I kept hearing it I was like is it a gallo and some people would ask me and I was like and I would just tell them yeah so you're gallo negro you know yeah that's so and then I had my machete going the first year and then did you had that idea already in your head uh the machete um yes I did uh the machete um but then I I tied it with the story I I would just you know I had a phobia and I went crazy you know with all my chicken and roosters and just chopped them off and then anybody that got in my way I chopped them off too so if you notice um when I'm out there I I don't just attack the guests I attack our our own our own colleagues that's that we scare with so sometimes when I'm like passing by you know whether it be Alex or Chris I I act like I'm gonna attack them too you know it just you know just depends just to throw them off too you know I I feel like if you're gonna attack you know the guests you might as well just attack your own yeah attack your own but that was just part of my storyline too that's I kill everybody that gets in my way or I see that's cool though that's awesome that's gotta be that's gonna be cool because like I mean that that that's just a that's a good way to develop a story and then also to scare it like that too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah I mean it it shows it shows a lot what you are out there like it shows like it's great because like I I love the costume I love the machetes that you have the face I know I call I first I saw you and I told you you look like Tom Selleck. Yeah yeah Tom Selleck aka I was like I saw you I was like cold blood man cold blood fucking Tom Selleck dog my dog I was like then I couldn't even think about I'm like oh fuck he likes it when he calls El Naga you know that's what I'm saying well because I was just like well no one really has a Spanish name you know everybody's like like an English name you know yeah like it's and I was like fuck it I'm just gonna do it in Spanish it works it works though because it's like it's it's stands out because we had various of different um ethnicity characters I think we had we had a gypsy before okay we had um we had a gypsy before we had like I don't know like plenty of other uh ethnicity characters you know that come by I'm pretty sure but like the only one I remember is the the gypsy character then we had this you know the Latinos that come by you know Jeff did yeah did that character and then you come by I think yours was like it just it it the why it just stands out because you're you're just a ethnic this ethnicity scary character and it's your presence shows like your demeanor I mean your um whole by shows like that because you walk in and you look just like you look tough you look tough especially with the machetes like the machetes look like they look real for real. Yeah I kept getting that too are those real and I'm like the front party city what the fuck party city bro what do you see dog and then you hit them up hit them up you tap in it's like it flips they know it's like a fucking rubber and like god damn it shit I have to get new ones. Yeah yeah so I was thinking it's like man I wonder if Pasta's gonna approve you know but yeah so she's like have nothing to say you're in you're in yeah you're in it was it was cool to get that compliment you know yeah yeah I think that's great that those are those kind of ideas kind of are accepted yeah for like street zones like I said if as long as you're you you're you're good at scaring you you work with the character I mean it it you you do good you you're good you're golden out there it's great but I have to give credit to like like I said uh Roman that helped me with my costume and then like Jeff also you know kind of brought the idea once you know with the whole mustache too you know and uh um I didn't at first but then I was just like man that would you just saw Jeff I gotta be different and then Jeff too like and I'll have the little chivo right here coming down you know so I was just like and he has he has a cigar so I didn't I was like I'm not gonna have a cigar I'm gonna have a machete and then he had a yeah so it was just you know yeah he ran out you yeah you ran with that yeah um did you um I don't know if I saw you run with anyone did you run did you add anyone that you want like you felt like we go all sometimes with like um my last year I I here and there I would go with Alex one you know here and there with Jason too it was just but mainly I'm solo yeah mainly I'm solo Alex's character is scary looking yeah yeah he's terrible he looks because he does that little like screech it's a weird like crack like weird raspy screech that he has I don't know how he does he does he have like a little uh whistle or no it's all natural it's all natural damn that yeah so yeah he's all natural so then and he has a what is that the the is it like a I don't know what that's not spear it's like a little hook spear yeah those fucking I forgot what they're I forgot what they're called they're they use them for cornfields he has like three or four of them on guys I saw them I was like dude talk guys is killing guy's killing up there and he's dressing all fucking full black goes out there and fucking just slant scaring people yeah it's good dude uh and um but you you ran with Alex a lot um my last year I I did you know for certain parts uh especially towards the end but um yeah I mainly run solo though I'm I'm mainly in fog alley uh like that area it's just yeah I see a fog I see a lot in fog alley because you just I don't know the character looks like it fits in that yeah for some reason that you just especially when rope drop comes I mean you know when when it when it's uh rope drop time me and Alex instead of going up we usually go back yeah we just yeah we're just both just standing right there waiting for people to come towards us like right there on fog alley so it's awesome and once we do that good round there then we head on yeah front too and that's where we see uh it's cool that we have people like that that stay in fog alley to like you know it's I feel like no one holds it down back there like I mean I I get it all the attention goes to the front it's cool like but I we gotta surround like yeah certain areas too man yeah I I think uh it's very it's various people that have various spots they of people that they like they like areas that they want to stick at yeah and I get that but like I feel like you just gotta like move around a lot to I get the I kind of get the flow of things but um but I I'm uh for me I'm a type of guy that does laps I'm like constantly just doing laps around like I don't really stick to a spot yeah but um I I have a hard I have a hard time staying at one spot like the only times I had done stayed at one spot was at Kmart Alley okay and that was when I had when my buddy Vi that worked with me Vi is ran the middle um the bottom the bottom yeah he's the one that um he's like a stunt guy right he's a stunk dude yeah yeah he uh I've seen him around yeah he he actually got scared with me when I was at Ghost Town he got scared with me for two hours that's cool yeah two hours ain't long enough dog that's all I gotta say two hours ain't long enough I heard five years that dog fucking monthly but like yeah but um we got to we we would go over there that was my first few years in haunt yeah we got go in that corner and we used to speak gibberish it we used to stand right by the Indian statue like the ones I've like the there was a so there was an Indian statue over there yeah I remember yeah yeah so it was I don't know if it's still there I I don't remember I don't know if it's anyway but like there was an Indian statue over there and we mean me and Vi would like start gibberish at people because it's so dark so when people pass me we'll start saying people like we were like what the fuck and then we will go across like from like the other side of of Kmara and we'll scare back and do that. Like I remember one time when I had um my so my generic mask from knots I asked them to staple a wig to like sew a wig on there. Okay. But the thing was the wig was I had to pull it back to order to fit so sometimes it will fall off but the front will stick on so so so like it would fall off. It looked like my scalp was falling. So like what one time it was me Vi and we had a friend named uh Wiggles and it was Jessica she was the the quilt um at as at uh ghost town she was really great but she uh they both told me one time it's like dude you should go there and go right front of the middle of a Kmart and just put your scalp put your put your head down and let the scalp fall and just like scare people and I started I went up there and went and I freaking just the hair will fall and then they're just starting scaring people so stupid I was like what the fuck it's fucking crazy. Yeah and uh um but like one time though when the in the Indian statue so like there was a fucking a couple that passed by and they were a white and then Mai goes right behind the Indian statue and he goes and as they pass by he goes get off my land you white devil oh shit I I told this story before it's so fucking funny God it's such one of the funniest fucking things ever oh my god yeah get off my land you white devil so funny yeah but like I I've uh but like other than that like I haven't staying around much areas like I just I have a hard time but like I I like with you though staying in fog alley it's great because like as far as coverage wise but like I haven't seen anyone do that since 2013. There was these two guys um rest in peace one of them was Jackal okay um his name is Jerry uh and uh there was another dude I forgot his name uh but he was the war pig um and he uh both were there they would stand at Fog Alley and they will grab trash cans so the barrel trash cans they will go over and scare people with it were always there from like the beginning of night to the end they were always there every night they were they were great tag teams every year they would stand there that's that's how I remember them and then um yeah but like I never really saw anyone since Morty was there a lot Morty was great and like because I mean he's a vampire and also fucking creepy and also funny as fuck dude was fucking just like he's so random right he's so random he's just the the the first of all most underrated character and ghost down most underrated character I feel like that dude deserves praise awards I don't give a fuck like that guy deserves every award that he can get his hands on and I just that guy does not get like enough credit he he's just so good out there and but also very fucking funny with other monsters because you'll go up I remember one time when I was in I think it was in 2021 and he uh we're in fog alley and I was right in front of him uh and um he was walking and then he sees me he sees me turns around he immediately bends over and I stop and I was right in front of his butt and I was like he goes like ah that hurt I was like he goes ah that hurt I was like ah shit fucking oh god I'm like freaking Morty does that type of shit he it's the things he does is just fucking yeah dangerous but like it's funny as fuck it's funny as hell but he's he's a great dude I haven't seen yeah I I he just completely retired or he completely retired yeah he was talking about coming back um uh fuck was two years ago he wanted to come back he he had some thought of it but I think he's like done done I think he's done now oh wow yeah he um but he had some thought about coming back but I don't think he I don't think he wants to come back. I I wish he I mean it'd be cool but I I think if you want to end whatever how you ended then end it dude. I mean he he had a great character and he had a great time and he had a must have had a great career too so yeah I wanna try again on I want to try actually talk to him about like how he does all that things yeah because uh he's fucking crazy. Um so when you were like because he ran with because uh how did by the way I I I feel like I I asked this before when all the most of the DLCs were here how did you get involved with this whole DLC thing? Oh well did you guys were you there when it was named and everything pretty much yeah yeah yeah exactly it was like Chris Jason myself Alex um bitch angel a few others and so yeah man fucking uh it was mainly Alex and Chris that came up with the name and yeah yeah because it was like fuck yeah we're just we're just pumping each other up with power raids man what was it download god what was it what does it mean download download conta or something like that dead legion court the Legion core was it called that's what it's called what Dead Legion core the Legion Court oh really I thought it was I thought it was called downloadable conta or something like that that's what I thought it was it was it had like three or four different names but you guys would go it was so funny because you because he he asked us but like you guys would do one time especially the one time with uh with my my when my brother came by yeah uh he guys were uh doing you guys squid up to him and you're like we're about to do the make a wish foundation my brother does not know he had no idea what he's like what the fuck what the fuck he just got married he's doing like a great life he has a great life and I was like what the fuck and I'm all like I'm laughing because like I know what you guys are doing you know we talk about but he's like what the fuck yo yeah because I mean you hear some of the people like especially like you know um they were just like dude they don't want to take a picture with me or you know you hear I was like and you kind of feel better like fuck that's fucked up yeah sort of like fuck we're making the mega wish foundation we're gonna make their dreams come true we're gonna take pictures and you're you're really good at that you're just you're go up to people and you're like you you're you're like you want a picture awesome like do it quick do it quick so it's just like it was cool and sometimes we'd meet up with them and so um yeah it would just it would make their their night you know fuck you know why you know it makes it makes everyone's night when but when you get a picture with a model like at least the feedback that we we we've gotten they're like oh my god thank you so much you know just like it makes a big difference it makes a it creates a memory for them that Disney magic it's a Disney magic it is it's a it's that knots magic yeah that knots magic of course but like also it's like a it's a memory it's a memory for people to to live off that I mean to to see yeah and um I I I that that's why I did not um agree much with this whole social media policy thing it was like very uh it was very concerning for us especially yeah and especially for an others because like I didn't I don't know what to expect like I mean we can't take pictures in front of anyone we can't interact with the camera like I I mean I don't know what you thought about that but I I think we're I was just kind of and me at first I was just not worried too much but I was like I'm not gonna go up I'm not gonna go face to face with a camera I'm not gonna interact I'm like I'm totally okay with that um but like once my sister came in uh with my niece because my niece is a she she loves scary farm and she's like she loves my my uh carnival character too yeah um and she when she when she was trying to record um I I had to tell her I'm like oh my I I can't do it I can't do it and she's like oh what the fuck why and then I had to explain to her and then uh she's like oh that sucks and then um because I usually every time I I try to inter interact with like she records me I interact with her with my sister and my niece and um so it was that that part that was when I was like fuck I feel I'm I'm concerned because like I I don't know I don't know how long this thing is gonna go go along for I don't know if this thing is gonna be much more we're gonna get more get regulated with a lot more things too.
SPEAKER_06I don't know if that's yeah I don't know if that's something that you're concerned about or is that something I'm not concerned about it.
SPEAKER_03You know it's just yeah shit if they want to yeah they want to create more rules I mean they do but like also like that that how much does that impact on the event itself because like that the event was all just like you you had photographers there that would come out and bring their own cameras that they paid for and then they will take pictures on their own time and then they'll correct those those are people that I give the most best shout out to oh absolutely and the people that draw and everything that those are those are like geographers those are great people a lot of credit to you guys. Yeah and I just feel like it it's it's tough to see that we're now like there that's being restricted and you can't we can't bring that like especially when they got into um the first week when people were recording the mazes and then they all said they're like oh yeah well we can we're done we're not gonna have people recording the mazes I'm like oh okay so now you guys are making up fucking rules now what the fuck like are you make are you gonna what's that what's that happens when the next down in the line the next season are you gonna create more rules are you create there's gonna be like the fucking the the three step rule was fucking weird like the five what the three of the five steps people are still gonna still do it with their with their with their glasses with their glasses that have this they're gonna still do it I'm like you guys I'm like more and more technology is gonna come out there and then what were we gonna do are you gonna still you're gonna still restrict rules you're gonna um make sure that the guests are a guests are not gonna record anything or you put like yonder bags and they're fucking uh and they're you're gonna put yonder bags and make sure they're not gonna come in or you're gonna not make them photographers or videographers not come in anymore right I mean you live by that you live by marketing you live by the market especially the last year when they were starting marketing a bunch of these uh social influencers these uh videographers these content creators they're starting coming in and start and then they started using their content to put in their page yeah reposting it I'm like guys it's like I I uh I don't understand like now you're just enforcing a rule that we generally guests can't record yeah that like yeah I mean they can't really record they they can record you but they can't they you can't we can't interact right like it it's yeah I just I don't understand that like that's it's so it's so um so bizarre so like it's um horrendous that we have to like fucking now like do that shit but like I I mean who knows who knows that what will happen because it as time s uh goes through I mean I I just want to I just I'm curious how they they're gonna what rules are they're gonna impact and um and how how is that gonna affect us because if you're gonna start enforcing a lot more rules we're the point where we're sure be interesting. It's gonna be interesting but also like how many people are gonna be are gonna be stand by that and how people are people gonna quit you're gonna lose a lot of talent you know are they gonna allow that? I don't think so you know yeah so yeah oh who knows. Let's see. How was it like how was it last year for you?
SPEAKER_06No it was uh it was probably one of um it was a it was a great year and I I loved it. I had fun. I had a good time. Uh Um I feel like I was, you know, doing my my job. Yeah, yeah. Um, yeah, I I I just I just get this adrenaline kick, you know, once I know haunting season's around the corner, and especially when I'm about to go clock in, it's just it just it just hits me, you know? Yeah. It's just the best feeling, I think. Yeah. You know, it takes everything away, you just forget about everything, you just go all out, like all the stress in the world, I guess you could say.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's an escape route. It's an escape it's an escape path to like, you know. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_06Like on certain things that pr people deal with, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, I get it. I I think I think people that are like that go there, they're they're kind of um away from other things that are just kind of like is not, you know, motivating to them and like their job or whatever, and then they they're looking for I mean, yeah, I mean how should I put it? You should be going there to for the love of the event. Oh, you should go there for the love of the event, you should go there because it's something that you you're free to do for six weeks. But um I think people uh put their jobs way to the side and then all of a sudden now it's like fuck. Like they they're they just do they they're doing more of their whatchamacallit, they're they don't care much of their job anymore than that.
SPEAKER_06Exactly, bro. So it just just it just it just pumps me up, man.
SPEAKER_03I just I I I I mean your life comes first, like no matter what. Oh absolutely, I think uh that's what I'm trying to uh imply is that like your job comes in first, yeah, no matter what. And basabills and everything, and I think people some people that are just fucking wild that don't work and they wait till Honk comes around because they don't want to do anything else and they're unemployed. Like it's a little concerning, yeah. A little concerning. I'm making and you're you're uh adult. Yeah, it's concerning. That's more concerning. Yeah, I get it if you're a college student. If you're going to college just for for all I mean for a few years to get your degree, that's great.
SPEAKER_06But that's why I I couldn't do huh like back to back back then, um, because it was you know school, you know. I had my priorities too, you know. Yeah, and now that I can have my family too, my wife is Synya and my son Benji, it's like Oh, you have a son? Yeah, yeah. No way three years old, yeah. What? Yeah, his name is Benji, and awesome. Yeah, I I I get ready for knots and I put my contacts on, and he's just he looks at me and just starts laughing. It's like little little giggles, you know.
SPEAKER_00And a gallop.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's cool because uh one of the guests too did a little bracelet for me, you know, a gallo. And then uh she did also uh it's a gallito, a little one too for him. So it was it was nice, it was really sweet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I'm just like man. That's awesome. I like that. I didn't expect that, you know. I did not know you had a son.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, yeah. How long have you been married? Uh about it's gonna be eight years. Oh my god. Yeah, it's gonna be eight years this year. That's crazy. And she she's like totally okay.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, she she's awesome. She supports me, and I support her, which because she does more musicals. Oh, okay. So she's in yeah, musicals mainly. And um, so I support her with that, and she supports me with my nuts. Oh, yeah, that's awesome. So it's cool, you know, it's like a little a little supporter system you guys got on. Because I I know she needs to do her thing. I and I I feel like when she lets me do my thing, it's just it's on, you know, it's game on. Yeah, so it's cool, and I think that's what you need sometimes in in life that support system. If not, then it's just like uh I feel I feel like it becomes uh stress or something.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's especially when you you have like especially like when you have uh a husband or wife or a girlfriend, a boyfriend. It's um in they don't support you that it's like it's hard. It's hard when you when you're not they're not able to support you and then you're like stuck and you go, well shit, do I pick uh scary farm or my wife?
SPEAKER_07And I'm like I don't know.
SPEAKER_03But um I get it if it's like if you're if if it's like something if you're at a point of your relationship where it's not working out well, then I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Everybody works it out differently, of course. Yeah, I'm just glad uh I'm very thankful it works out what it does for us, you know. So it's yeah, it's great. But at this but sorry, it's good. No, no, but at the same time, I'm just like, man, you know, like I think I'm gonna give it one more year and you know, or two at most. That's your that's your end game. I think so, yeah, because I really want to. I mean, I'm obviously I'm focusing on my family and my my son, but at the same time, it just um yeah, my son's just you know he's too for sure. He's yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01You want to see him more.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, that's that's really that's I I fully support that.
SPEAKER_03I'm all for that, dude.
SPEAKER_06And I'm so grateful I work remotely, so I see him, you know, yeah 24-7 pretty much, if anything. So it's it's awesome though. It's I love the guy. Great, yeah, that's awesome.
SPEAKER_03I especially when you're you know, I I I feel like anyone in this I I've said this a bunch of times, but like I feel like anyone should have in in the haunt world that work at haunt should have an end game, especially if they're going through like they're they're having a kid or they have a they're getting married, you know, like they wanna they they better choose you know an idea when they want to end yeah their haunt career. And um I get it if it's like if it's like the spouse or like if you have if you work with a kid and you've able to go on for for a decade or more, that's that's that's totally acceptable. Yeah. But I I um I feel like when you're uh I think it's just it's hard when you just you're starting to uh get these opportunities like getting married, have a kid, and then that then haunt gets in the way um because uh and you can't do it, you know, you want to s focus more on your family. Yeah, yeah. Um I just think it's just it's bad to make it's worse. It's it's bad if you make it worse too, like to where to the point you're just choosing over haunt over your kids. I I've I think I I've seen one person do that, and that's fucking horrible.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um and it's um not it doesn't look good on you. And uh I I I I I full I fully support by that. I think um especially when you're on a uh path where you're you're in shape, you're feeling better, you're not like you're not having broken bones, or you're not in you're not injured, you're you're not mentally like strained out, or you're just you're you're not old and you know you're you're on a good path. Like the best person I I I thought that retired really well was uh Paul Vachette. Oh uh Paul Vichette was one of my inspirations as far as like creating characters. I like would have not created the the asylum character if it was if it was him, because he was one of like the people that I saw in 2013 and 14. And um and he yeah, and he retired the best way. He got he got married, he during the time he was already married, he had his kid, and he wanted to end it in 2014, and he did, yeah, and in the best way possible. And he was still in shape. He was still in shape. It was like you know, I I think people just should have a end game to themselves to to that. I I don't know. I think it's uh some people sometimes I I don't get why I don't agree when people say like, well, I'm gonna do it till the wheels fall off. I'm like, I'm like, when is when the when the fuck is that, dude? When the wheels fall off. Well when the full wheels fall off my ass, dude. Like what? To you fucking uh injure your knee? Do you freaking you have fucking plates on your fucking back? I don't I don't know, dude. Like what what the fuck does that mean? And I'm like, I don't get it. Like, and I get it you're young and you you think that way. And I'm sure years as years come, yeah, go by that you're gonna think something different. Because when you're gonna start gaining these different opportunities, a job, yeah, a uh a wife or husband, kids, it doesn't it's life, man. I always say is that like you know, haunt haunt is forever, but your life isn't. Right, exactly. Haunt's always gonna be there and be there for now or what. And I think the same I I mean I I've I've had moments like that where like I think it's okay when you need to take a break. Right. I think it's totally okay. It's like I feel like people don't don't do that and they want to keep on going, that makes it worse for them. And it just it mentally just drains them. Yeah, and you're then you're now you're with what you're you're juggling both um jobs and you're not having fun. Yeah, it's funny and you you gotta make it fun. It's fun when you make it fun. If you're not having fun, then why the fuck are you doing here? Exactly. Yeah, you gotta do it for the love of the event, dude. Yeah, man. And not for anything else. So um anything else I want to talk about? I don't know. What else do we talk about?
SPEAKER_04Um families. Families, don't just damn, dude.
SPEAKER_03I did not know you had a fucking son. That's crazy. That's wild to me, dude. I did not know that. Yeah, do you ever want do you ever uh think about like him going to haunt over years to come? Oh, yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_06You're supposed to definitely gonna yeah, definitely gonna show him gonna try to show him the ropes if you know if he likes it, by all means, you know. That's cool. Go for it. Yeah, you know. I want to ask about your tattoo. Um is that a tribal tattoo? Yeah, Polynesian tribal with a little bit of Bolivian fusion to are you are you uh what's your initial?
SPEAKER_03So I'm Bolivian.
SPEAKER_06Bolivian and uh the Bolivia, South America, South America, yeah. And so when we were young, yeah, I we grew up with uh a lot of Polynesians in my neighborhood. And um, you know, my parents would be working 12-hour shifts, and so um, yeah, my sister and I were we'd be like across the street at our neighbor's house, they would be taking care of us while our parents were to work, you know, and so it was just like we pretty much grew up with them, and um, yeah, and some of them played for USC football, UCLA, big old linemen. And um, so then um yeah, I I saw one of them getting a tattoo, and I was just like, Oh wow, you know, it looks it looks painful. Yeah. And uh later on they were just like, no, man, you're you're you're part of this family, you're gonna you're you're fucking gonna get one too.
SPEAKER_03Was it not like the generic tattoos that anyone gets? It's like the the It was a tapping. The tapping one, yeah. So um they're like that has to that in order for you to get the tribal tattoo, you have to do the tapping, right?
SPEAKER_06Um, you know, I mean to certain yeah, to some to some, yeah. Yeah, and not everything, of course, yeah. Right. And so then I was just like, oh well, I'm not and I don't think I can do that. And they're like, no, you're gonna get one, you know. You you're practically you know, we're pretty much raised by us, man. Like, you know, your parents, like we respect them all, of course, but yeah, you were here all the time too. And so I'm just like, yeah, we'll we'll see, we'll see. And so later on, yeah, I just um I was just like, man, I I definitely want one now. And so um they're like, yeah, you you deserve one, you're you know, you're part of this culture. Is it a full sleeve? It's a full sleeve of my chest and then my upper back.
SPEAKER_03That's cool.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, man.
SPEAKER_03I feel like that's a tribal for like um like Samoan tribals. Like, I don't know how different what between that with with yours and the Samoans. I I is it is it's kind of different or is it?
SPEAKER_06Is it pretty much this uh similar and same? Oh okay. Yeah, for the most part. But yeah, it's just you know, different meanings, of course, obviously. And uh everybody has their you know their their meaning and their story, and so it's just like something I'm grateful for, of course. And um, you know, I I did ask, you know, with permission too, you don't just get something done just like that, just to get it, just to be, you know, quote, cool, cool, um, or try to look cool. Um, but it's something that's really meaningful and at the same time very grateful for the family that has you know helped us. Well, it's you know, back when I was me and me and my sister were you know kids, you know. Yeah, trying to make it out, you know. Did you grow up in San Ana for your whole uh yeah, San Ana borderline orange? Yeah, yeah. So mainly San Ana. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So that's cool though. I I feel like uh I know it's you're talking about like cool tattoos because I feel like uh I was I never was interested in getting that because I feel like that just doesn't sit with me because I I'm I I never understand it. Yeah, um, because plus then I'm like thinking like I don't want to offend people because I have fucking cool tattoos. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why I have all these patches on my I but it's fucking cool too. Yeah, yeah, I appreciate it. It's uh I'm trying to get the one uh might fill up the top of my shoulder. Uh I just need to do that to get the sleeve and then have the other ones done, but I'm trying to think of other ideas. Yeah. But those are the only tattoos you're you're only getting.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, for the most yeah, that's it. Pretty much. I'm pretty much done, I think. And um, but yeah, some people you know have their own thoughts, and you know, some people talk shit. Yeah, people talk shit about it. All the time, you know. Yeah, they're you can't you can't impress anybody, you can't, you know, not everybody's gonna agree with you, you know.
SPEAKER_05I like how people get tattoos, they're like, I'm gonna get a tattoo because my friend has one. Right, exactly.
SPEAKER_03You know, and um at haunting. Someone got a tattoo because they got a tattoo. Because all their friends got tattoos. I'm like, yeah.
SPEAKER_06But you know, that's them, you know. They want to be cool, quote on. That's fucking that's them, right?
SPEAKER_03You know, I want to ask you, uh, your did you ever have a haunt name?
SPEAKER_06Um, I uh you know, Ed gave me one. But uh the my first year, uh he called me Bender. What what is this? What Bender, some character on I forgot what it was, but he showed me a he compared a picture of mine, and uh I don't have I don't have it with me, but uh yeah he uh it's I guess it's a character. Bender, if you look it up, it's uh it's like uh Bender. I forgot. I want to find out Bender, and so I was just like, Bender, thanks. He's like, Yeah, you have the smile just like him, and then uh he put it on the on the home page and everybody just like liked it.
SPEAKER_04Oh, Bender for Futurama.
SPEAKER_02Oh, that dude. Wow, he was like, thanks, man. But you know that's sick.
SPEAKER_03Hey, that's a better fucking name than fucking idiot or dumb, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and so yeah, he was just like, uh I don't know. Oh yeah, you had the fucking hair.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Oh and so, yeah, you know it. Yeah, that's that's gotta be fucking that's funny though, because I I feel like some hot names are just like are very um fucked up in some ways, but some of them I'm like, okay, that's cool.
SPEAKER_05I was like, thanks, I thanks, thanks.
SPEAKER_03Thank God, dude. They were I was almost gonna get called tumor caps or get called TC, TC, which is tumor caps. So I I told so right after I got my name Hostel, um, by so there was a group of fans that it was Gabriel, uh Robert, they called him Noodle, and then um Angie, she was a nun, and uh there's a few other people, yeah. But oh and um and Temo. He played the priest when I was around there, but like I got my hot name uh which was approved by Gary Spaz. Okay, and uh a few other uh people in uh right after that I told him the story that like one time I was at my cousin's house and they uh they told me that I had huge calves and then there were tumor calves, and then they were like tumors. Yeah, they're tumor calves over here. I was like, and I I kind of felt hurt by that at first, and then they told me, but once they once I told my uh the the guys that my friends they were just saying um they're like, oh my god, that'd be been so funny. We would have called you TC. We were like, yo man, what up TC? Yeah, because we used to call like freaking our our our uh talent or uh cast leads uh on the other ones like that that are below them uh TCs. Oh yeah, they're like what up TC so stupid. Yeah, but like shit like that.
SPEAKER_06I'm like I wonder how other people get like their names, like yeah, mine wasn't hunt given, like obviously the gallo negro, you know. It wasn't like with the with the guys, with the DLC guys, you know, just it was Do you prefer Bender or like or or Elder? I don't care, I don't take it seriously, you know. I'm just like, but they're just like no, you know, the Gallo looks looks good. And so I think it does. I think it really does look good. I'm like I get a lot of compliments on the streets. They they tell me, Oh, you're a guy, can I get a picture? Or you know, just like oh my god, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Do it quick, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I uh I get um I I don't really get called by my my haunt name a lot. I just get called by my first name. Oh okay.
SPEAKER_06I I get called just Gaio, you know, when they they tell me, you know, but that's at most, don't they don't say the full name, just go Guy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's go.
SPEAKER_06I go out there and fuck it.
SPEAKER_03And I I I I don't know. I feel like people when you meet people, they it's it sets with them. Like I I just call like I like Spaz. Like I call like like when people called Gary Spaz. That guy's cool. Yeah, he's great. Um, like we're calling him Spaz a lot because he was just styled with his haunt name. Yeah, and we just call him Gary Spaz. Gary Spaz Spaz. And then um there's some some other people that set that sets with their haunt name, and then you just kind of call them like that. Other than that, like I just I call people by their fucking yeah, I get Gary and Gary, yeah, you know, I was yes. Yeah, Gary and all that. I know like I get I just call him by my first name, yeah. Lucio, and then some people do call me by my haunt name when he especially when I'm at Carnival.
SPEAKER_01Oh shit. Yeah, when they call me at Carnival, they're like, oh hey, hostile, hostile, come here.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, what the fuck? God damn it, fucking shit. What? What do you want? Like, fucking what do you want? Damn it.
SPEAKER_03Because uh hostel was like really the name for my asylum character, I called it, but I I didn't want it.
SPEAKER_06Well, it's gonna stick with them, you know, because they're just fan, you know, fans out there, which is awesome, and I get it, you know.
SPEAKER_03Well, they they don't want they don't know what your other name is, and then they they feel like they won't call you by your real name because it offends you so much.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, stop. Hey, hey, let them call you by your first name and shut the fuck up. Just you have a fucking real government name, call them by that, and they're like, I don't want them calling by my government name. I'm like, fucking stop, they're gonna find out anyways.
SPEAKER_03God, if you if you're fucking uh a fucking different name, then shit.
SPEAKER_06I can call Machete too. Machete call me Machete, that would be badass. I mean, I don't mind. I was like, hey, by all means I'll come with that. Yeah, I heard different ones, you know. Tom Selig, give me all, give it to me all. I'll take it in.
SPEAKER_03I won't take it serious. Um people do though, like yeah.
SPEAKER_02You better call me this name.
SPEAKER_03Yo, you better call me this name.
SPEAKER_02Shut up.
SPEAKER_03I don't fucking get it.
SPEAKER_02I'm like Jason, too. I mean we oh Jason, yeah, like a Lord Farquad.
SPEAKER_03That's the famous Lord Farquad.
SPEAKER_02Lord Farquad, man.
SPEAKER_03He's like, bro, stop. Yeah, I call him by his last name Woods. Oh Woods. I'm like, yo, Woods. I'm like, yo, Woods, Jason, what's up? What's up, Woods?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we like I said, we all mess around with DLC. We always talk shit on each other.
SPEAKER_03It's just that's just how we click, you know. So yeah, I I don't call what Chris by I don't call Chris by his like well, yeah. No, I call him Chris. Fuck boy. Yeah, fuck boy. I'm like, yo, fuck boy. And then I call him Patriot or something like that. I'm like, yo, I'm like, yo, civil patriot. What a duh. I don't even call Marcos like a even a bitch, too. I call it a bit. Oh yeah, I feel bad calling him that. And I just sometimes I get uh Marcos. Yeah, I every time I see him, I'm like, I'm like, father.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes he doesn't listen.
SPEAKER_03That's why you call him a bitch. Oh really? Like, what?
SPEAKER_06Oh, what's up?
SPEAKER_03He's like, Oh, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He doesn't do it much, dude. Oh well. Oh well. Um, dude, thank you for coming on. I appreciate you coming on. Um thanks for having me, man. I appreciate it. Of course. Um, it's great. Uh tell people as far as your character account where they can follow you.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they can uh follow me on my um Is it my uh G T S underscore E L dot G-A-L-L-O dot N-E-G-R-O L Gaio Negro. If they want to follow me on social media, social media, Instagram.
SPEAKER_03He posts there on pretty kind of like if you get pictures, you kind of post it on.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you know, I like to give credit, you know, to you know whoever the uh sometimes they share with me and they're oh I'm like you know, I'm very grateful, thankful, you know, whether it be a video clip, uh pictures.
SPEAKER_03So do you uh one one more thing? Well with the mask and everything, now that you've been masked, um do you if if makeup opportunity was coming up too, would you do it?
SPEAKER_06Um honestly I think so. I would be open to it. I would be open to it, but I feel like with my mask, it's just it's just different. Like yeah, because it won't it won't it won't be I won't feel the same, but at the same time, I'm open to it, but I just I feel like I'm not gonna be the same.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know I get it. Yeah, yeah. It's it's something it's if people are more subtle with uh with a mask and they feel more like the character with as that, then they're gonna do it. But like if they feel like they need more a a different opportunity to like try things like as like more as like expressions and um or vocal, yeah. They they want to do that.
SPEAKER_06I think it's sometimes I'm thinking about that. I'm just like, man, maybe a prosthetic or makeup would would be I think a prosthetic would look great on you.
SPEAKER_03I think that would be a great idea because they can kind of fit with like what how you have it.
SPEAKER_06Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03And they can um and with the care with the mask and then they can work with that, then I think it'll be good.
SPEAKER_06That'd that'd be awesome. I I just don't know if the the sombrero would probably like affect it, you know, attach it and maybe make it fall off.
SPEAKER_03I don't slip off the yeah, those are things uh to to you know to think about, but also I mean to learn and yeah, exactly. You know, but like also I mean, but be a be a good idea to try. You know, you never know. You never know this year, dude.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you never know. If the opportunity comes then It does. Yeah, man. I I would put anything open to it and see what you know.
SPEAKER_03Try it.
SPEAKER_06See how it goes. Yeah. Uh El Nagayo and Negro.
SPEAKER_03Uh thank you so much for coming on, dude. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_06Of course, man. No, thank you. And you know, congrats on this podcast. It's awesome, dude. Thank you, dude. Keep doing your thing, man. I'll try to anybody.
SPEAKER_03I try to make it as authentic as possible. So this is like I I tell people this is like us talking backstage. Um if you're just being yourself, being you know, that's it. If you want if you want to know how we are backstage or how we are outside of costume, I think this is just the way I feel. Like I want to make it as organic as possible.
SPEAKER_06So yeah, because you find you find something new about me, vice versa. And it's cool, you know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's awesome. I I I get different, I get different, I learn different things as other people come on. So it's awesome. That's cool, dude. Yeah. All right, guys. Uh have fun, be safe. Uh, don't do anything stupid.
