Haunt Draft: A topic haunt-related with a certain amount of rounds to draft of our lineup with whatever the categories is.

Today's category will be Monsters that never won M.O.T.Y. (Monster Of The Year) award

Five players. Five rounds. The five players: Lucio, Aaron, Vi, and Wyatt with guest judge Gary Spaz. 

Aaron Frame is a former scare actor and venue supervisor at Knotts Scary Farm that started in 2012. 

Wyatt Roman is a former haunt YouTuber known as KnottsScaryFarmRuler13 and a former scare actor at Knotts Scary Farm that started in 2015.

Landon "Vi" Lopez is former scare actor at Knotts Scary Farm that started in 2011. Landon is also a stuntmen and entertainment performer at Knotts Berry Farm which he's done seasonal performances at Knotts Berry Farm such as "The Hanging", "Merry Farm", and "GhostTown Alive"

Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to the LS3. And today we are doing a haunt draft. And today's hunt draft, we uh will be doing monsters that never won Monster of the Year. Uh so this draft is basically uh all street monsters, past or present, that haven't won a monster of the year award given at the banquet. Uh yes, this does not include, this does not include not scary far management has been giving out a few years ago. So uh for for our first street monsters are very familiar. Um we they management um at the end of the season, they give out this um their own version of uh monster of the year. It's pretty cool, it's really awesome. Um they just started this like I just really recent, but I want to say about two three years ago. I'm not uh not sure on top of my head, but that does not include at all for um as far as that. Uh this is simply by the ones who uh are given out at every scare zone banquet. So every scare zone banquet, um, they were given out, that's that is included. So for those that don't know what Monster of the Year Award is, um I'll give you uh I'll explain to you guys. Uh Monster of the Year Awards are simply monsters who have won a monster of the year award in a scare zone as voted on by other monsters in their zone. So um I'll just explain to you uh one. So if you're in Carnival and um you get to and if you're a street monster in Carnival, you are able to vote for your street zone for whatever monster that street zone is. So if I vote for me, I give if Paul Vergo me and Paul Vertigo were in there uh la this past season, I get to vote for um I I have the option to vote for Paul Vertigo um as Monster of the Year to vote for him. Does that mean he gets to win, but like that's you know, this is simply by voted by other monsters and you know they tally up the numbers and so on and so forth. Um so I hope that clarifies, just an example. So I hope that clarifies as you listen to this episode. So for those who don't know what the award is, you know, that's kind of just uh a rough like a a brief um definition of it. So this is a four-round draft with uh numerous, numerous of um honorable uh mentions. So our judge uh is going to be Gary Spaz Davis. Uh he is a longtime veteran at Scary Farm, he's a just a great dude. Um I will give that result at the end. We were um as you listen to the episode, we were trying to contact him, um and you will kind of get an idea how that went. And so I will give you the result at the end as far as who won. And um, I want to give a huge thank you to Aaron Frame, that's a guest on the show, for coroning this draft. Uh, we want to do more of this, so um please let us know. Yeah, the drafts were probably like the ones out of, I mean, obviously, all the episodes that I've gotten compliments for. Um, especially you guys. You guys gotten the most, you guys were probably the one. And obviously, why it was like they've been asking me for a bunch of.

But other than that, I've been getting most, it's a couple good handful of times was the the draft. There, I've got people telling me like when's the next draft? When are you guys gonna do that? Yeah, it's such a cool concept. Yeah.

Alright, so we're gonna do another draft. It's gonna be uh, we're gonna start with four rounds. We might do five. We'll see how we're feeling after that. But four teams, it's gonna be uh Wyatt, Lucio, Vi, and myself. The category is going to be best monsters to never win Monster of the Year. So we'll do our best uh to not pick anyone that's winning Monster of the Year. I think typically to do that, generally I would say anything after 2005, because we need to like the 80s and 70s or something. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. But we'll do our best if someone messes up. I'm sure someone in the comments will tell us, and that's fine. But generally, I think we have a pretty good idea of who won Monster of the Year and who wasn't. So the only rules are can't pick someone that's won Monster of the Year. And you can't pit that person that's one monster of the year in another zone. So, for example, if one monster wins monster of the year and gauntlet and hasn't won in Yoastown, you can't pick him in Yoostown. Yeah, that makes sense. You just gotta pick them, generally. Yeah. Right? Okay. Um, all right, you guys want to start odds evens? Uh one, two, three, put out one or two. Yeah. And then whoever goes out first gets the first pick. Or I'm sorry, the last pick all the way up to roast. Yeah, I like it. Cool? Yeah, it works for me. So row shambo. We'll do one, two, three, put out an odd or an even. So a one or a two. And I I loved running with him as a partner, especially in uh the those final years of uh our scaring career together. But I just think for for being a big man and being that tall and being that agile and just to be able to get in and out, he was he was a great partner, and uh, you know, I'm I I think he genuinely did deserve either I mean a monster or rookie of the year over in board bucking for his first first year. I mean also, you know, homegrown empty grave as well, too. I was like, he he was he was he was legit. He ran with me a lot, he was great. I wish I could have stared on Joe's town with Matt. No, that it was honestly so much fun.

I thought Morty was gonna win. Hide your socks and hide your kids. I honestly he w thought when he retired he was gonna win Monster of the Year. That's a good one. I think for sure he got fucked over. I think so too. I think he got fucked over for that. Definitely did. That that should have been his he I he could have taken anything. He took uh any award, really. But like he he should have just really taken Monster of the Year. Yeah, humble guy did. I don't think he cares about that. Funny fucking dude. Really great. Yeah, that guy I out of like I mean plenty of people broke uh had me broke in character, but like I'm so good at it. Yeah, he's so good. He he broke me in the world. One of the funniest monsters of all time, if not the like on stage hard worker, yeah.

I remember that one time when I went to audition, he was in the room with me um when we had multiple people to do the audition. Uh was in the group audition. Yeah, the group audition at HR. Um where we did that then he had a booklet, he had like a little uh booklet of just like a portfolio concepts of just his character, and he he described each and every one of what he was trying to do for his vampire role. Nice. I was like, whoa, I'd never seen anyone prepared like that. Yeah, yeah.

My one of my favorite things about Morty is he was in charge of the ghost town banquet, right? Yes, and he would come up every single night and get close to it, and he'd be like, We're gonna be able to have like these mini cheesecakes out there. He would tell me like what the dining options were, and I was like, dude, like you already sold me on this. You'd come up and he's like, Yeah, we're gonna be doing these like mini sandwiches, there's gonna be some pulled pork sliders and being passed around in the start before the actual banquet starts. But he'd be in character, so it would be like you you'd just be like rolling by yourself, all of a sudden just out of the shadows. He'd be like, Alright, we're gonna have little mini caramel cheesecakes.

We had a great that referee year was phenomenal. So fun, dude. And then uh that year that Spouse wasn't there in 2020, my last year, uh Cam really stepped up. Me and him were rolling. He's just a great monster.

I'm gonna go with a monster that I thought was one of the best. It was so short-lived. But I I thought he was really, really, really, really good on Carnival. Um I still think he was one of the better ones on Carnival. Uh just historically speaking. Uh he hasn't scared for a long time. I mentioned him in my uh in my trivia question. Oh, you're the son of a big warm. Yeah, you've got to be I have to. I Steve who? Steve Warmeer. Steve, yes. He he only he was a flash in the pan, dude. Only scared for a short amount of time, but he was like fucking insane. Dude, just like just no fear. No fear, no guy. No fear. He did slider stuff that you would never see people get. Yeah, he did not care. He put his body on the line, he was just out there being insane. I want to say in the early years, they even let him have a chainsaw back before Knots kind of banned it. It could be wrong. For some reason, I have that mental photo though.

So I mean, every as much as people don't want to admit it, I was like, every person that works haunt, they love the attention they get from it because you you in a way you are center stage, you are you're putting on performance for everybody, and so I think it's like it's an addicting feeling, and I think some people let you know uh awards carry them, and I think I'm like, oh I mean, one person's winning monster of the year, and some most of the years it's people that are deserving of it. Other years, you know, it could be that popularity vote, and exactly you're like, oh, hold on now. But I think at the end of the day, I think most people just go in as long as you have fun and do what you want to do. That's what haunt's all about.
