We'll I'm back! talking life over the last two and a half years. Also what I have planned for the podcast for 2026. Tune in!
Hey, what's going on, everybody? Long time no talk. It's me. I'm back. The B Sides with Kay Fonse. It has been a long hiatus. It's been about two and a half years. Um didn't mean for it to go this long, but it did. And I'm back. I'm better than never. Just have some things going on in life. And life is unscripted. So had to take a break for a minute, but we're back here. Um so let's just go back, tell the whole story. Um, my last episode was in September of 2023. Um in November, my wife got sick and uh had to take a little break. Um she's she's back now, everything is good if we're fast-forwarding to now. But she got really sick, so I had to uh be there for, you know, that part we say for better or for worse, sickness and health, that sickness came to us very early on in our marriage. But uh we're back, we're good. Um after that happened, if we go, if we fast forward a little bit into 2024, uh we weren't really uh liking where we were living um our apartment situation. So uh we went and we were really hustling trying to get a house. And um we finally uh closed on our house late 2024. Um 2024, I think was uh the end of November. Um we closed on our house. Um, but everything with underwriting and all that stuff because of the holidays, it took a little longer than we expected. So we did not move in here until February of 2025. So we've been in our new home a little over a year now. But um yeah, so we've been here for a little over a year and just trying to make this thing our home, our house a home. So um just dealing with that, on top of working, on top of taking care of our dog, on top of just life things. But we're back, we're here, and I'm very excited to get this podcast going on again. But I have been keeping up with everything. I have been watching the app over the years and seeing people still listening. Um so if you are a continued listener, thank you for running the num Thank you for running the numbers up. Um if you are new to the podcast, it's just something that you may have stumbled upon, thank you. I do appreciate the love. Um and that really meant something to me, just watching the numbers grow and people still engage, even though I have not been present for a little while, but that does mean a lot to me. I honestly just wanted to come in and check in. This will not be a very long episode because I'm just now getting my feet back wet with anything that you haven't done for two and a half years. You kind of gotta relearn it. Um so just wanted to come to you to say thank you if you are a continued supporter, if you are someone new, thank you for checking this out. Um, I do really appreciate it from the very bottom of my heart. I do appreciate that. Um, it looks like we're gonna have a great year musically, and it's only the end of March. Um in the next coming weeks, I do want to do episodes about some albums that came out just in this month. Um, Luke Combs dropped a new album called The Way I Am. Yebba has a new album called Gene. Looks like Wiz Khalifa has a new one called Girls Love Horses. I would like to see what that's about. Bruno Mars, to me, right now, it's a toss-up between him and Kanye. Bruno Mars dropped The Romantic late February, like the last day of February, I do believe. Willow has a new project called Petal Rock Black. That sounds interesting. It has an interesting cover. I kind of want to dive into that one. Ella May, I really like her style. I like her style of singing, her music. Her album is called Do You Still Love Me? So um, it might be like a breakup album, kind of sad. So, we're gonna dive into that one too. It's very good. I like sad songs, so hey. Um, we also have The Fall Off by J. Cole, and a family member of mine, E Fonse, um, has a spoken word on a track on his album. So I wanna run through that whole album and also talk about that track that she is featured on. And as of right now, it looks like that's it. Looks like Whiz Khalifa has another one. I think he dropped two in the same month. One might be a mixtape, one might be an album. But we are definitely going to talk about those things, and also I changed the format, and we're gonna have some friends on the B-sides with me. So I am getting all the ins and outs to that right now, so we can have some people on to talk about their favorite B-Side track on an album of their choice, so that should be fun. So I just really wanted to come on here to say, I'm back, I'm alive, I am still here, I am sharpening my sword, I'm getting back into my craft, getting better with this, not so much getting better with it, but remembering how to do it. Um, it's just like riding a bike. If you haven't rode a bike in a while, you probably forget how, but if you just take a little bit of time, it'll come back to you like it never left. So hopefully, this is like that, and we will definitely be talking a lot more frequently and a lot sooner. I am planning to have a new episode out every Sunday so I can have my guest on, and we can talk about what's going on in their lives, could because these are people I know personally, what's going on in their lives, what kind of music they like, if they are a musician, what made them like music, what made them fall in love with music in the first place, what albums that they are listening to, what is like an album that is near and dear near and dear to their heart, and a b-side track that no one might not know besides that person, or unless you personally like that artist. So I'm excited about that. Thank you guys for rocking with me all this time. I'm here, getting better with time, sharpening my sword, like I said, and just getting back to it. I hope you guys have a great Sunday, and I will talk to you next week.
