Welcome to Just Us: Before, Birth, and Beyond. We invite you to tune in for a podcast focused on perinatal and community health. In an effort to raise awareness and start a conversation about perinatal health, our hosts have joined forces with doulas, midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, physicians and more from across North Carolina to share best practices, lived experiences, and lessons learned. Just Us explores real topics and dives into what has happened, what is happening, and what can happen next in the sexual and reproductive health and wellness space. Season 3, Episode 6: NC Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
On this week’s episode, host Dr. Suzanne Dixon interviews Tina Sherman who is a leader in the space of maternal health and lactation. Tina is the director of Moms Rising and serves on various boards related to breastfeeding persons. In this episode they explore the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act as well as the PUMP Act which are both new legislation that prohibit discrimination for pregnant and breastfeeding people. Take a listen if you would like to know more about this legislation, its implementation, and tips on how to make employers and employees aware of their rights. We hope you enjoy this episode!
