What's up, everyone? Welcome to another episode of Down Once More. I'm your host, Matt, and on this week's episode, I'm gonna take you through some of the things that I'm most excited about and I think you should know about that are coming to streaming services and theaters in February 2026. So before I get into that, I just want to give a shout out to Catherine O'Hara. Uh rest in peace. Uh, just some iconic roles from Kevin's mom, Mrs. McCallister in Home Alone to Moira Rose in Shits Creek. Uh, definitely lost a legend, an icon. And so go watch some of her just memorable performances. I swear not a week goes by without me using a Moira Rose gift from Shits Creek. So uh just a great talent and thoughts, prayers to all of her loved ones, friends, family uh that are now without her in their lives. So, now after that somber note, let's get into what's coming to streaming in theaters this month. If this is your first time checking out one of these, welcome. Go like, subscribe to the pod, all that fun stuff. I'm not going to touch base on every single thing that's coming to all the different streaming platforms, but I will give some of the most notable things, whether it's originals, whether it's top picks, things I enjoy, uh critically acclaimed things. So if you're looking for a comprehensive list, there's some absolutely great blogs out there that you can go check out, web pages that put it out. But let's start it off with Netflix, like I always do, already out now that released on February 1st. You have some already previously released movies. You got the fantastic rom com from Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Crazy Stupid Love. If you haven't checked it out, you need to. It's amazing. Uh Ex Machina, a super fun, kind of sci-fi thriller drama with fantastic performances across the board in it. Hello High Water, the Taylor Sheridan kind of modern Western movie with some absolutely amazing performances from Chris Pine and Ben Foster. Uh Independence Day, Mrs. Doubtfire with the late great Robin Williams, the entire Night at the Museum series, if you're looking for some family-friendly fun, and the original How to Train Your Dragon animated one and two movies. On February 3rd, you have the newer kind of mystery drama comedy, Honey Don't, making its transition to Netflix from Peacock. And on February 5th, you have the HBO Max original series search party. The entire series, there are five seasons. This is one, it has a tonal shift like halfway through the overall series, but a lot of fun, some great mystery elements, some great performances in it. Highly recommend it if you're looking for something a little bit different and new. And then season four of Netflix's hit series, The Lincoln Lawyer, comes out. So based on the novel, there's a movie with Matthew McConaughey, and it's been turned into a pretty successful Netflix series that I've heard nothing but good things about, but I haven't checked it out personally yet. Then on February 10th, the live action, How to Train Your Dragon, makes its move over to Netflix from Peacock. And then on February 11th, Love is Blind season 10 comes out. This one took place in Ohio, as there is with every Love is Blind season. They announced their cast, and there's already been some uh sexual assault allegations against one of the contestants, and so they cannot go a season without this show without there being some contestant in hot water and allegations as soon as they reveal the cast. So who knows what will come of that, but be forewarned, they could be scrambling with some last-minute late edits there. On February 12th, a new Netflix original series, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, comes out. This is a new series from the creator of Dairy Girls, uh, fantastic comedy series. This looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun as well. If you don't do well with heavy accents, it may be one that you want to throw the subtitles on so you don't miss any of the mile a minute jokes in it, at least just based on the trailer. Also on February 12th, the horror thriller The Blackphone comes out with Ethan Hawk giving a great performance in that. The Blackphone 2 just came out on digital not too long ago. And so if you want to watch the original, you can check that out on Netflix on the 12th. On February 18th, a new documentary, Being Gordon Ramsay, comes out. The celebrity chef behind Hell's Kitchen, next level chef, um, and more comes out. So check that out if you want to see a little bit more behind the curtain with Gordon Ramsay. Um, on February 19th, the Ironclaw comes out. This is based on a true story, uh, very kind of the professional wrestling world, very heartbreaking story, but some fantastic performances, uh, especially from Zach Efron, gives one of his best performances ever in this movie. You also have season three of the Netflix series The Night Agent on the 19th. And then on February 20th, you have a new adult animated series, Strip Law, season one comes out. Netflix is usually pretty solid with their adult animated series. Bojack Horseman is a personal favorite of mine, and so I'll be interested to see what this one is like. And then also on the 20th, the entire Expendable series. If you just want some turn your mind off over-the-top ridiculous action movies from some classic action stars, the expendable series is for you. On February 24th, Taylor Tomlinson's new net uh comedy special, Prodigal Daughter, comes up. I absolutely love Taylor Tomlinson. I think she is fantastic, very relatable. Um, her reels pop up in my feed, it's in my algorithm all the time. Every time it gets a laugh out of me. So I'm excited to check out this new special. And then on the 26th, part two of Bridgerton Season 4, uh, the Netflix original series based on the novels comes out. On February 27th, Trap House. This is a 2025 Dave Batista action movie where Dave Batista plays a DEA agent, uh, fellow DE agent dies, and then Dave Batista's son and this DEA agent's I believe it was the son as well, they start seeing like all this money just laying out on the table, nothing really to help them in the wake of their father's death, and so kind of band together to start ra robbing trap houses. It's from a producer creator of original Fast and Furious, looks like it will be some ridiculous action. Uh, I don't know much about the movie itself, but the trailer looks like it could be some fun. So if it's on Netflix, got some time to kill. Who doesn't love a great Dave Batista action movie? And then February 28th, the Jurassic World Rebirth makes its transition to Netflix from Peacock. Uh, see a noticeable trend there, Peacock to Netflix. That's the world way things work. Let's hop on over to Apple TV. Only a few things streaming on there this month, newer things. On February 13th, Eternity makes its streaming debut. Uh, this is a romantic comedy with Elizabeth Olson, Miles Teller, and Callum Turner. This was one I wanted to see. It looked like a lot of fun when I talked about it. Just came to theaters, I believe, in January, maybe December, uh, and I highlighted it on here as a pick that looked very kind of emotional and like a lot of fun and like some good comedy. I love Elizabeth Olson. Miles Teller's been doing some good work too, so decided to check that out over on Apple TV. On February 20th, season two of the Jennifer Garner starring series, The Last Thing He Told Me comes out based on the novel. And then February 27th, uh Monarch Legacy of Monsters, season two comes out. Monarch Legacy of Monsters is one that I was really excited for when season one dropped, and then I was in the middle of a few other series at the time, and it fell off my radar. I love the new kind of Monsterverse, Godzilla, King Kong, those new movies. I feel like they've been a lot of fun, this kind of realm that we're in. And so this one looked like it had some super fun performances and a way to expand that world. We're getting King Kong more in season two, it looks like from the preview. So excited to check that out finally. And I'll probably wait and I'll binge both seasons when it's out. That's it for new drops on Apple TV. Over on Prime Video, they had a big drop on February 1st with a lot of our eight previously released movies. We had La La Land, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, Hook, Sherlock Holmes, 1 and 2, CSU, The Big Lebowski, The Other Guys, Gamer, Into the Blue, Operation Fortune, P.S. I Love You, and The Usual Suspect. So a great mix of movies in there. On February 11th, the Prime Original series Cross, based on the Alex Cross novels, season two comes out. And then on February 18th, a new kind of erotic thriller for lack of a better word, with Dove Cameron, 56 Days, a new series premieres, and then on February 23rd, a documentary series, The CEO Club, releases. This is a behind the house beside wow behind the scenes of kind of powerhouse women CEOs. So like Serena Williams, Winnie Harlow, and kind of follows them and what it's like being a powerful woman CEO. And then February 25th, this is one of the things I'm most excited about is the bluff. It could be hot garbage, but I love a pirate movie. And this follows um Typhoid Mary, Typhoid Mary, Bloody Mary, uh Priyanka Chopper Jonas plays that role. It also has Carl Urban in it as a pirate, her former pirate captain that's kind of hunting her down. Looks like a ton of fun, some great sword play, a little over-the-top action, but who doesn't love that? Looks like it'll be a fun pirate action movie. And then on February 27th, uh documentary Paul McCartney, Man on the Run that follows Sir Paul McCartney's career after the Beatles. So if you're a Beatles fan, iconic, they just released images of the new film series with the different actors playing them. So Barry Kogan is Ringo Starr. I forget who's playing all the other roles, but they released first look images of those. It's gonna be a four movie series that will be coming out in the upcoming years. But um, if you want to find out a little bit more documentary style about Paul McCartney's life after the Beatles, check out Man on the Run on February 27th. Over on HBO Max, a couple noticeable movies that dropped on the first, the only ones that really stood out to me were The Notebook and Open Water. I love a good shark attack movie and I enjoy open water. It's not perfect, but hey, it's good stuff for me. On February 12th, a movie that I want to watch, even though I know it's not gonna be very good, is the Russell Crowe starring The Pope's Exorcist. I'm a sucker for an Exorcist movie every once in a while, so I'll be checking this out when it drops. And then on February 20th, uh Dead of Winter, the movie 2025 movie with Emma Thompson and Judy Greer makes its streaming debut. So you can check that out. Nothing much for HBO Originals. There's a new kind of re not reality, but kind of late night show that takes a look at neighbors called neighbors that's produced by one of the Safety brothers, who there's some controversy going on there with some alleged stuff that took place on the set of one of their movies. So I don't know. The kind of documentary stuff is hit or miss for me, so that one didn't interest me. Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is still running. I'm behind, I've only watched the first episode, very tonally different from the other series we've gotten in the Game of Thrones universe. This is a lot more like boots on the ground, small scale stuff, and I actually really liked it. I loved episode one. Um, and we'll have to see episodes two, and by the time this comes out, episode three will be out. So we'll see if I watch that. I believe it's only a six episode series, maybe eight episodes, and they're shorter episodes, they're about 40 minutes max each. So we'll see if that's able to kind of maintain its momentum. But so far, I heard great things about episode two, and I really enjoyed episode one, so I'm excited to see where the rest of the series goes. Let's hop on over to Hulu. They also had a big previous release drop on February 1st. So you got the classic comedy rom-com, and I'm using classic for movies that are like 10 years old. Uh, Date Night, Drumline, 500 Days of Summer. 500 Days of Summer, one of my personal favorites with Joseph Gordon Levitt. Um, Ghostbusters, the original Ghostbusters 1 and 2, Grandma's Boy, iRobot, La Bomba, if you need your musical biopic, um, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Pretty Woman, The Proposal, and Ten Things I Hate About You. I love 10 Things I Hate About You. If you haven't checked it out, it's being turned into a musical too, so it fits with the pod. On February 2nd, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes out. I love the Planet of the Apes movies. This new series is fantastic, and I really enjoyed Kingdom, even though it was very different from the previous ones that came before. On February 6th, Splitzville makes its Hulu debut. Uh, this one has Dakota Johnson in it. Looks like a ton of fun. I got on digital. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'm excited to check it out. February 9th, the complete series of the good place comes out. I absolutely love the series. Jamila Jamil, Kristen Bell, uh Manny Jacinto. Fantastic cast, a lot of fun to dance into. Check it out if you haven't already. February 10th, the Artful Dodger season two makes its Hulu and Disney Plus premiere. This is the Hulu original series. It's based on the character Jack Dawkins, also known as the Artful Dodger, in a Charles Dickens classic Oliver Twist. Uh, different take on that character in that story. So season one, great reviews, season two makes its debut on February 10th. February 16th, the horror movie Smile comes to Hulu. And then on February 23rd, the Hulu original Paradise has its season two, two-episode premiere. Uh February 26th, the Scrubs Revival series starts out on the 25th, so it'll be having its Hulu debut on the 26th. On February 27th, the musical adaptation, Kiss of the Spider Woman, which got awful reviews, but it makes its Hulu debut, so that's not one that I paid to watch. So I will watch it on Hulu for free with my subscription. And then the accountant. If you need a fun action movie, the accountant is for you. So you can check that out at the end of the month as well. Over on Disney Plus, only one notable thing coming on there, and that's the Muppet Show, is making its return on February 4th. Over on Peacock, they had a sizable drop on February 1st as well. Uh, you have About Time, Air, Along Came Polly, Anchorman, Challengers, which I love challengers, like I always describe as the erotic tennis movie, and I get looks from people, but that's the best way to describe it, and it's great. Uh, Coach Carter, the entire 50 Shades series, if that's your thing. Happy Gilmore, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, I Love You Man, a great Jason Siegel, Paul Rudd, Bro comedy. Um, Inside Man, Law Abiding Citizen, Man on Fire, Straight Out of Compton, which is one of my all-time favorite musical biopics. Uh Zombieland 1 and Zombieland Double Double Tap, Zoolander, and then the 1989 horror comedy The Burbs, um, which we'll touch on in a minute as well. Uh, the original with Tom Hanks comes out on February came out on February 1st. Yesterday, February 3rd, the Super Mario Brothers movie came out, an animated one. February 6th, Speaking No Evil uh makes this Peacock debut. This one was a great horror thriller, highly recommend. And then on February 8th, the new Peacock adaptation of The Burbs comes out. Series with Jack Whitehall, Kiki Palmer. It looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun, a little bit different in tone to the 1989 classic movie. So I'm excited to check this series out, even though I haven't seen the original. And I think I will keep it that way and I won't watch the original. And then the reality series House of Villains, season three, makes its debut on February 26th. Over on Paramount Plus, the last of the streamers will touch base on. On February 1st, they released uh had their previous drops. Uh, they had Almost Famous, the entire Bridget Jones series, Call Me by Your Name, Cloverfield, Face Off, which is just peak camp 90s action, horror, thriller, whatever you want to call it, comedy, with uh Nicolas Cage and John Travolta. It is a ridiculous movie, but it is campy. You need to watch it and then go listen to the How Did This Get Made episode on it. Um, Grease and Grease 2, uh How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, also on Paramount Plus, the entire Godfather series, and then Us, the fantastic horror movie from Jordan Peel. And then on February 12th, uh new comedy series, British comedy series, Can You Keep a Secret, comes out, which this is uh Paramount Plus original and looks like a lot of fun. So I'm excited to check that one out. Let's hop over to theaters. Not a ton this month, um, but February 6th, you have a new Dracula take. It has its limited release on February 6th. Uh, this one I I don't know. It has Christoph Waltz in it, which I absolutely love. I love the vibe of the trailer. It looks promising. We'll wait and see. Every almost anyone can make a movie look good in the trailer. So we'll see how it actually shakes out and how reviews look on it. And then new Kevin James, just heartwarming comedy romance, uh, solo Mio comes out on the 6th as well. Uh, and on February 13th, this is where the ones that I'm most excited about come out. Uh, Crime 101 with Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, uh Barry Kyogan, and uh Mark Ruffalo. Fantastic cast in this, looks like a fun crime action movie. Really excited about that. A new Gore Verbinski movie who did Pirates of the Caribbean, a number of other ones. Good luck, have fun, don't die. This trailer alone is a trip. It's a new Sam Rockwell stars in it. It is sci-fi. It I don't know how to describe you. Just go watch the trailer for this movie. Pause this episode, go watch that trailer. I'm intrigued. I want to check it out. It could be awful, but it looks like it will be a wild movie. Um, the Wuthering Heights adaptation with Margot Robbie and Jacob Balordi comes out on the 13th as well. This is one there's been some criticism of Jacob Lordi's casting based on how the character of Heathcliff is described in the book. It looks like it is going for the first trailer, it got kind of the 50 shades treatment with highlighting the sex and how sensual it was. The second full trailer, not as much, focusing a little bit more on the romance, but still those steamy scenes. Uh, it's from Emerald Fennel. We'll see how it is. People are excited about this one. If you're looking for a family-friendly animated movie, you got goat. It's about a goat talking animal movie where they're trying to play basically basketball, but it's called Murder Ball. The goat's the underdog because he's little, but it's a play because the goat is the greatest of all time. So see, get it, get it. If you have kids, maybe that's your vibe. Uh the 13th, the final thing that comes out that I'm kind of intrigued by is Cold Storage. It has Joe Curie, Liam Neeson. It is a sci-fi movie, kind of horror about a fungus taking over that they accidentally released it from Cold Storage. It looks like it'll be kind of campy, but could be a fun action film. I don't know. This isn't a theater watch for me. There's a watch at home when it hits streaming, but could be interesting. February 20th. Uh, one that intrigued me from the trailers is Psycho Killer. This looks like a very intense horror movie that I'm actually excited about. Horror movies aren't usually theater watches for me because sometimes I'm a little bit of a wuss. And so I'd rather just watch it at home. Watch it at home. Too much sketchy stuff happens in theaters sometimes. I'll just watch the horror movie at home in the comfort of my own house where I can have the door locked. Uh, and then new A24 movie with Glenn Powell, How to Make a Killing. This one I'm also really excited about, actually. It is Glenn Powell. He is far down the line to inherit a $28 billion fortune. There are seven people ahead of him. He starts skiing the idea from someone, start killing off the people ahead of him. It looks like a fun action comedy. So I'm excited to check this one out. You have the faith based film. I can only imagine two a sequel about uh Bart Millard from Mercy Me. Uh he's heavily involved in it. More drama and stuff on the road and uh finding his faith a little bit more, losing faith, finding faith. That's what these movies are are all about. Uh so you can check that out. And then Baz Lerman's epic, which is Elvis Presley in Concerts. It's taken with lost footage from uh Elvis's Vegas residency piece together. It's documentary, it's a concert film. Um, it has its limited release on the 20th and expands to more screens on the 27th. But this actually, the trailer made me excited. I'm not even the biggest Elvis fan, but it made it look like it is going to be something new, fresh. I've been very vocal about on here. I'm not the biggest Boz Lerman fan. I don't love his directorial style, but this looks like it could be a lot of fun. And then finally, on February 27th, the newest entry in the Scream series, Scream 7, comes out. Now, I'm really excited about this. Neve Campbell makes a return in it, but Scream 6 set up a whole new arc with Melissa Barrera, who I love from in the heights, and then because of some tweets she had with the Israel-Palestine stuff, then she got taken out off this movie, some rewrites, some backlash from that. I don't know that it rewrites, and uh you had the last two or three films kind of really setting up her character and this character arc further, and then to scrap her, I I don't know how I feel about that. So we'll see. They're bringing a lot of the originals from the original scream movies back in this, and still some of the characters from this newest kind of trilogy. Um, so I don't know. I have reservations, but the trailer looks like it'll be a lot of fun. We got Sydney um back, Neve Campbell, and her daughter are at kind of the the center of this. So we'll see how it is, but that kind of caps what's coming to theaters in February, and that caps what I have to actually talk to you about in this episode.
