Together We Seek: Intuition, Energy Work & Ancient Practices for Spiritual Awakening
174. How to Be Intuitive with Dallisa Hocking
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Have you ever had a moment where you just knew something, and then talked yourself out of it? That quiet pull is not random, and this episode is going to help you understand why.
Dallisa Hocking is a fifth-generation psychic medium whose grandmother could see full body apparitions and whose great-great-grandmother would report which spirit had been out in the fields with her husband that day. That lineage gave Dallisa something most teachers in this space don't have: a lived-in, non-fearful relationship with inner knowing from the time she was small. In this conversation, we trace how her gifts arrived almost overnight in 2015, how she moved from dating coach to consciousness guide, and what she now teaches hundreds of students about building what she calls inner literacy as a repeatable, practical skill.
Quotes from the episode:
"I think it's a superpower that we are all born with. It's inside of us always."
"We get to be right. And so if the story is I'm not intuitive, the universe doesn't bring me information. They bring other people information, but not me. Whatever the story is, we get to be right."
"If you are feeling things like rage, deep sadness, grief, shame, those are all really, really low frequencies. I might say to you, I would love for you to work on yourself and your own healing. And when you feel yourself starting to lift up and out of that, then I would say absolutely."

What you will walk away with:
Your frequency determines what you attract. This is not mystical. It is practical, and Dallisa breaks down exactly what low and high frequency states look and feel like so you can locate yourself honestly.
The stories we tell about not being intuitive are the actual block. If you have decided the universe speaks to other people but not you, that decision is doing a lot of work.
There is a simple daily practice for developing psychic literacy. Ten to twenty minutes of meditation, a piece of paper, and a question to spirit is enough to start building your own psychic dictionary over time.
Fear is the biggest reason women stay closed. Dallisa addresses the common worries directly and offers a grounded framework for working with energy safely.
Women in a season of deep grief or low vibration are encouraged to do healing work first. This is a compassionate, honest distinction most teachers skip over.
Listen now if you are tired of asking everyone else what you should do with your life and ready to build that trust from the inside out.
Dallisa's work lives at spiritandspark.com, where you can access a free ten-minute reset audio, book a session, or join her seasonal channeling course, The Gathering Room, which covers channeling, remote viewing, and mediumship for $77.

Hello, everyone. It's JJ DiGeronimo with Together We Seek. And today, I am here with Dellisa Hocking. She is a psychic medium. She trains people how to tap into their intuition, and I could not be more excited to learn how these gifts found their way into her path.
So hi, Delisa. How are you? Hi, JJ. Oh my gosh. I'm looking forward to this conversation.
I know we're gonna get into some juicy stuff today. Oh, this is my favorite. Seriously, this podcast is the highlight of my week. I just love the journey. I love the journey.
So before we get into your journey, tell us a little bit about how you describe intuition. I think it's a superpower that we are all born with. It's inside of us always. Some of us have it more hardwired in their DNA. I'm a fifth generation psychic medium.
While other people may need to develop that muscle more, I kind of equate it to, you know, how sometimes we see on YouTube, there'll be a video of, like, a three year old that's playing, uh
, Mozart. You know? You're like, how does that happen? And you could say that the same piece of music is being played by a fifty year old. Right?
So our lived experiences are a little bit different. The the three year old, I would argue, is probably born with those abilities, perhaps even from a past life. And the person who's fifty years old can still play the same piece of music, but it might take them a little bit longer to develop that muscle and that skill. But we all have it within us. It's just about awakening it…
So it's interesting because you're fifth generation psychic. So your house is probably a little different than most listeners of how your family moved through life and how they sort of experienced this humanness. Can you talk a little bit about how that may have impacted you or how that allowed you to tap into your gifts? I think it's the secret sauce as to why I've had my company for over a decade and have students and clients all over the world is because I grew up in a family that supported it. I had a grandmother, Eloise, she could see full body apparitions with her physical eyes, and she could tell you who it was, what clothing they had on, what color the clothes were. And her grandmother uh, my great great grandmother Belle, uh, she could do the same things, and she would do it out on her farm. And her husband, as the story goes, would be out working in the fields.
And he'd come in for dinner, and she'd say, hey. Do you wanna know which spirit was with you today working in the field? So I come from this lineage that's so open. So when all of my gifts dropped in in August of twenty fifteen…
it's kind of ironic to say I was surprised, you know, a psychic medium being surprised of her own abilities, but it's really how they unfolded. And because I have the family that I have, I was set up for success. I didn't get my family rejecting me or telling me I was weird or, oh, that's not real. Uh, so I could jump in with both feet in twenty fifteen and hit the ground running with these abilities. But my grandmother, Eloise, was getting closer to the end of her life.
And so in hindsight, I actually feel like she was transferring over her gifts and abilities to me because I owned a very different company at the time. I was a dating coach and a matchmaker. I was working at a business school in Texas. Like, I thought I was on a trajectory of one sort, and then everything changed in twenty fifteen overnight, and I became a psychic medium…
Wow. Now that is a title right there. From dating coach to psychic medium. Not an everyday trajectory, for sure. And the funny thing is is I always talk to everyone about crossroads.
Like, your crossroads are often opportunities of doorways. Doorways to learn more about yourself, have curiosity of what piques your interest. So if you feel comfortable, what was the crossroads at that time for you…
I really felt like I I didn't belong in a way. I'd always kinda felt a little bit different than everybody else, and I was trying to find, like, what work would make me feel more fulfilled. I didn't love being a dating coach and a matchmaker Um, I just felt like it was too superficial. And if I were to do that kind of work again, I I would change my approach to it and be more spiritually…grounded with the work that I would be doing with singles. So I felt lost, uh, and that's actually around the same time I found astrology…because I just felt like I kept having these dark nights of the soul, and I couldn't find my way out of the tunnel.
And a friend of mine suggested that I revisit astrology and and work with somebody that could look at my chart and give me some guidance. And I remember having a session with a woman who's no longer with us, nor is the friend that suggested the astrology session. They've both crossed over. Um
, but I had the session, and and I remember Geraldine saying, oh, yeah. Well, it's Saturn, and this is what Saturn's doing, and this is how long it's gonna be there for. And I felt this real sense of relief, like, I'm not gonna be lost forever. And since then, I've just been greatly appreciative for astrology. I I love learning more and more about astrology.
I think it's one of those things that we can never learn all of it in one lifetime, and it keeps my mind curious. And so I think the spiritual tools, like tapping into our own intuition, letting it being a a guiding force for us, looking at different tools like astrology or human design. I think that we can really get to know ourselves even better. And when we strengthen that relationship to ourselves, we don't have to ask anyone else for permission. We don't have to, you know, seek external validation because everything we need is already inside of us…
That is music to my ears. I too turn to astrology and birth charts. I actually spent years learning them. And I agree. It was the can opener that allowed me to feel very comfortable in my own skin.
And I do that for many women now because I'm like, let's see where your north node is. Let's see what's the work you're supposed to be doing. So I'm curious if your south node is in the sixth house, which is all about, like, practicality and how you your routine and maybe your north node is in your twelfth house potentially. My north node is in Leo in the third house. Third house.
Your north node is in third house, which is communications and how you help people kinda move through information. Yes. So I I developed Interesting. Yeah. I do a lot of spiritual content.
Mhmm. And and I started a substack and yeah. So I love all of that. I have my degree in colleges and public relations, and I love storytelling and all of that, which has been interesting with South Node and the ninth house…
because that's, you know, Sagittarius and and Jupiter. And…I'm supposed to be kind of moving away from that, but I have my moon in the tenth house in Pisces, and it squares a lot of my planets. And I have Neptune conjunct the sun. And so channeling is, like, all over inside of my chart. Yes.
Okay. That makes sense. That makes sense. Your Pisces is in your tenth house because of where is that showing up? That's exciting.
So now you help other people tap into their intuition, which is so amazing because it's still working with people and kind of aligning them to love, but it's love for themselves…
Yeah. They have to believe they can do it. You know? I have…so many students now over this last decade that I've worked with with psychic development. And one of the biggest roadblocks I've seen is they don't think they can do it or they don't think they're worthy of receiving information from the universe, and we get to be right.
And so if the story is I'm not intuitive, uh, the universe doesn't bring me information. They bring other people information, but not me. You know, I didn't grow up in a family…Whatever the story is, we get to be right. And so if you can just overcome the roadblock…of believing in yourself and believing that, of course, you're worthy to get information about yourself, about your life, about the world at large, then you absolutely will open the doors and the windows and information will start coming to you. I think a lot of people also a roadblock is fear.
They think, uh, oh, if I open my gifts, is something bad gonna happen? Is my house gonna be haunted? Am I gonna let in all these spirits and everything? There there are safe ways to do it, but I actually think it's much more simple than that. I think that it's a resonance.
So whatever vibration you are vibrating at, that is going to be the current of energy that you are aligning with. And so the higher your own personal frequency and vibration, the more you are able to access higher dimensions, higher frequencies, channeling, intuition. But if you are in a lower frequency you could be bringing or working with energies that are also of a low frequency. And so people may be asking, well, how do I know which one I'm in? So I think of it as like a frequency scale.
Yes. So if you are feeling things like rage…
deep sadness…grief, shame, those are all really, really low frequencies. And we all go through them, so it's not a judgment. But if you find yourself that that's the season of life you're in right now, I don't know if I would tell you to, yeah, come on, embrace your intuition. I might say to you, like, I would love for you to work on yourself and your own healing, whether that's meditating, journaling, self care. And when you feel yourself starting to lift up and out of that and you're going into higher frequencies that could be happiness, feeling like you're aligned with your purpose, having moments of joy where you feel like you're really in alignment with the universe, then I would say absolutely.
Like, your your frequency is already higher. So then it's just pointing out some of the mechanics of how you can ask a question, how you can receive information back, and going from there…
That is fabulous. And something that I don't hear that many people talk about. I love the idea of frequency or radio stations. I call it, like, are you down at ninety seven point five? Are you at one zero two point seven?
Because you will attract, you know, the music, the vibe that you're at. But I think with intuition and tapping into yourself, like, you brought up such beautiful points about…believing and trusting and not associating fear because so much of society makes us fearful about going in…
They really do. They they make us feel like we can't do it or that we're gonna be, you know, stalked by a ghost or something like that, or we're gonna have some kind of entity or attachments. And I'll be honest.…if you are really attempting to keep your energy frequency higher and you're doing your own healing, I'd say it's it's kind of a nonissue with attracting lower frequencies into you. But I would even warn against things like drinking a bunch of alcohol and trying to connect to spirit, um, because alcohol can lower your frequency. And so if you're, let's say, you're drinking and you're you're at a house party and somebody busts out the Ouija board and says, let's see what we can contact. I would be very careful because if your frequency is lower while you're drinking and you open up a Ouija board, the Ouija board itself is neutral. Meaning, it can bring forward, um, very neutral energies.
It's gonna match your frequency. And so if you are sitting around with a group of people that have a lower frequency, it could open a portal in the location where you have the Ouija board.. But if you are with some of your friends and you're feeling, like, high vibration, you're not doing any, like, drugs or alcohol or anything like that, and you wanna use the Ouija board as a tool, you can use it as a tool, and it won't have the negative effects with it. So I would just be careful if you're gonna do anything in a group setting, um
, because it it's kind of based off of the lowest denominator of frequency in the group…
It's just super mindful is, like, kinda pay attention to the energy you flock with and make sure that you are, you know, part of the higher vibration. I always tell people, you know, it's easy to look outward and then, like, say, oh, well, she's this or he's that or whatever. But, like, look inside where you and usually attract what you are. And I think spending time in gratitude and raising your frequency, doing the inner work necessary. So many of the practitioners that join here do so much of the inner clearing, which many I've worked with, and it's so powerful.
I think anytime you can work on yourself, it's so powerful. And then, you know, tapping into your intuition, as you mentioned earlier on, is such a superpower. So talk a little bit about,, can we all tap into these abilities? You know, is it at a certain time in our life? Or, what are some of the best practices or things that you kind of identify when people are ready? Yeah. We can do it at any time. So you don't have to be a certain age or at a certain point in your life or have so many learned experiences because, frankly, Earth School, we're always learning and growing. It's never over.
So you might as well just jump in when you feel curious about it. So if you're feeling that curiosity, I would say absolutely learn how to do, you know, more of it. So for example, this summer, with my,
community called The Gathering Room, I'm teaching channeling, remote viewing, and mediumship. And…all three of those different areas of study, they have different exercises that you can do with each one. And with remote viewing, it's a target. You know? It's usually a set of random numbers and letters, and you are tuning into what is at that location.
You know? It could be the moon, for example, or Jupiter, or it could be, somebody's backyard in in Ohio. Right? Like, it could be a variety of different things. Mediumship is where you are the conduit.
You are the in between, uh, usually between a client and somebody or a pet and animal that they're trying to communicate with on the other side. And so I start with channeling because I think that's kind of the the foundation of where we can…kind of grow and explore these gifts that we already have. And I usually suggest to people that you can do it either through writing or you can do it through an audio channeling. And you can do it by yourself. Um
, but if you're gonna do the written channeling, I would go into meditation first, and you can find whatever meditation you like. Some people like ones that are, uh, grounded in breath work. Some people like ones that are more binaural beats, which are my personal favorite. Um, there's a company called Sacred Acoustics. I'm not uh, affiliated with them, but they have brilliant, uh, audio files for meditation to raise your frequency.
Sacred Acoustics is their name. Uh, there's guided meditations you can listen to on apps like Insight Timer or YouTube. But I would do a meditation, I would say somewhere between ten and twenty minutes. And before you go to that meditation, I would take a piece of paper and a pen at the top of the piece of paper. I like to use the question, spirit team, what do I need to know today?
Or universe, what do I need to know today? And then go into the meditation. And I personally like to go into the the relaxation, but when I start to see something, hear something, feel something, or a thought drops in out of nowhere, I'll I'll open my eyes and I'll write it down, and then I'll go back into the meditation and keep going. That's just the way I like it. Some people will just do the whole meditation first and then come out of it and write down anything that they came in.
But I would practice writing down any impressions that you get. So it could be in your mind's eye that you're seeing a symbol, a mini movie. Uh
, it could be that you're hearing a word or a phrase. There could be a physical sensation you feel in your body. And, again, there could be just a thought that kinda comes in out of nowhere. Those are all intuitive psychic messages, and I would write down everything even if you don't think it's important. And then I would keep those notes.
And if you're gonna practice this every day, you could really do it in twenty minutes or less. And you can, at the end of the week, let's say you sit down on Sundays, and you're like, let's look back at the notes from the past week. Look back and read what you wrote down, and ask yourself, how did these notes apply to what ended up happening this week? And you can start to connect the dots because spirit will often use the same information, the same symbols, the same words, the same feelings to communicate the same messages, so becomes your psychic dictionary. So that you know that when you see a set of keys in your mind's eye, and you sit down on Sundays, and you're like, oh, those set of keys, I know exactly what that means, and you reflect on that.
Then the next time spirit shows you a set of keys, you'll have a better understanding of what they're trying to communicate with you. It's like playing a game of Pictionary with spirit. It's a two way conversation that you have with the universe, with your angels, with your guides, And that would be kind of the easiest way to start as a daily practice or at least, you know, three times a week where you're sitting down and doing the meditation and the writing…
Um, an amazing tip. Like, this is amazing, Dalisa. I feel like couple years ago, I remember where I was standing. I was talking to someone, and I was like, I wanna meet channeling teachers. I wanna learn to channel.
And I only know you and this other one, not only our psychic where you can sign up and have sessions, ninety minutes, or ask a question, which I love is all on your website, but you also hold courses to help other people attune their gifts so that they can learn from themselves through their own…
mind's eye. So I love this. Tell us a little bit about how people work with you, where to find you. I just am so excited you joined us.
Yeah. The Gathering Room, the summer season, I only open it up, uh, seasonally. And that's if you wanna do the channeling. It's a two part class, two part remote viewing, and two part mediumship with the practice. And you can ask questions, and I can help guide you through that.
It's only seventy seven dollars for the whole summer. So it is, like, the deal of a lifetime, but that is over on my website. Um, I do have ask one question on there, and that's really, really popular. People will send in a question, and I will tune into their question and pull tarot cards, and then I do a whole report. The thing I love the most about that is the report actually is very um, helpful.
It's meant to be a document you work with for the thirty days and really sort through the question and the tarot cards and the energy. So that's been a lot of fun. But, yeah, there's sessions, and all my sub stack and socials are on my website. And there's also free ten minute reset audio that has a audio file you can download to your own device, and there's a one page worksheet you can do along with it. And that's free over on my website.
So everything's over at spirit and spark dot com. Spirit and spark dot com. Well, D'Lisa, I'm so excited that you're part of the Together We See community. I loved hearing about your journey. I think it's magical that you're
fifth generation psychic, and I'm so honored that you took the time to join us. Thank you so much. Thank you, JJ. I look forward to doing it again in the future sometime. That would be great.
And for all of you listening, please find Delisa's links below. Feel free to follow her or even schedule some time with her or be part of her course. I think all of this will help you raise your frequency and trust your innerness, your inner voice, and your intuition. Thank you so much for joining, and we'll see here again next time
