For this Christmas special Gilbert invites his friends Jesus and Joshua to play an Only Connect inspired game.
Uh hey guys, um we recorded this the day before the unfortunate death of Rob Reiner. And um I'm not gonna get into the political spiel of what's been happening, but uh all I just wanna say is I want to give just a small tribute to uh Rob Reiner. Um Misery was I think my favorite film from his. I know a lot of people say the uh the Princess Bride or Diss the Spinal Tap, but uh for me it was Misery. Um but what what happened to him and his wife was awful, and um I just pray for his his kids, his two other kids, and it's like it's hard to say this, but I pray God has mercy on his son, the one who's probably the one who uh stabbed him or is the one who stabbed him, but um yeah, just uh I just have uh a lot of um emotions about this. But um, yeah, uh Rob Reiner, you were a great guy. Um, and uh we will miss you. All right, we're recording. All right, guys, uh welcome to Gilbert's Is All About the Media Podcast and uh Merry Christmas, guys. This is our Christmas episode. Um, it's also I would think my very first Christmas episode ever because I can never like I mean, given in the past, if you've been following me since the beginning, like in the past, um I've never been consistent with the episodes up until last season. Um, just because when I started this, I was busy with school and work. And since um I'm unemployed and don't go to school anymore because I graduated, um, I wouldn't say I'm a fully unemployed, but to my point, I have downtime to actually record uh podcasts and then to actually make downtime for myself. Um, but anyway, uh we have a as always going back and um back from since last season, it's my good friend Mr. Joshua Gonzalez. Hi Josh, how you doing?
SPEAKER_02Get helping yourself, Gilbert. I see you just there in your room, and I think the background is a little warm and toasty with the fireplace.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if you guys aren't are just like uh listening, I have a background effect, which is um it why am I looking back to it's it's the background effect of like a Christmas theme house.
SPEAKER_02Um it looks it looks really cozy. I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_00I know I wish I wish this was my house. Uh but yeah, um, so hopefully things get better. Last time we all uh we did this. Um just as Seuss and I we we were doing the room, and I do apologize for the audio of that. Um I tried fixing the audio. I don't know what was what was happening with the audio from our recording. I tried fixing it, and I think it just made things worse, so there was no time to uh re-edit um it. So hopefully the audio sounds better here. But last time Josh was here, we we were doing some horror episodes, and uh now he's here for a Christmas episode. Um, before I start, uh I want to I want to ask you guys, do y'all have like a favorite Christmas movie or any Christmas tradition before we even get started to what we're about to do today?
SPEAKER_02Um I'll go I'll go second. What about you? What about you, Jesus?
SPEAKER_01Uh so um I think we we've been my brother and I have been doing this for about three or four years now. Uh I think it's gonna be our fourth year. And um usually around 10 o'clock, 10:30, we uh we like to put in uh an adaptation of a Christmas Carol just because we feel like we're in sync, you know, like just to get into the feel. And when it's by the time we like we'll put the movie on pretty late so that by the time it's one in the morning, we feel like we're with Scrooge in his journey because it's like one or two in the morning as the three spirits are just you know taking him across through his lifetime. Um it's fun, it's actually really really it really is fun when you get to sit down and watch the film and you feel it's really like you look at the watch and like wow, it's already 1 a.m. Um, but it's just it's cool because then the next morning you're like it's Christmas time. And uh you you it you know, if you feel, at least in my opinion, I feel like, hey, I feel like Scrooge, like you know, you're reminded of what's the the meaning of Christmas.
SPEAKER_00All right, uh Josh, you what's yours?
SPEAKER_02Um it's kind of different from my family because my my parents, my mom's side of the family, they're all from Honduras. And some live here in the States, but they're all spursed out. So what we do each year is we do we do Christmas lunch and dinner at my dad's side of the family. Um some of the traditions we do, uh I was um at Gateway Fell at Gateway Fellowship Church Northwest Campus on Bandeira Road in 1604. Every year we have a Christmas volunteer party, and it's basically a Christmas party that's honored all those who work and serve at my church. Uh this year I also served with um with another church, uh the Church of Jesus Christ, the Latter-day Saints at the Hellois Ward tonight. We just came back from Christmas Caroling, so it's my first time doing that. Um, the other thing I would like to say is one of the traditions that I still do, I still read um the gospel story of like the first like seven chapters of Matthew in the Bible, because I was like I always like reading the negativity story. So it's it's it's really heartwarming because to know that my the traditions that I do is also center around my faith as a Christian.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that sounds great. Um, for me it's always uh I mean I'm basic. It's always tamales with uh if you're Hispanic, come on, you're gonna be eating tamales around this time, um, or making them. It's one of those two. And then it's for it's the Males, hot chocolate hot cocoa out of my Star Wars mug that I have right here, and the 24 hours of a Christmas story. So that's pretty much where I'm at. All right, so um today we're we're gonna do something that I was inspired by. I have to say this um in the beginning just because I I mean I wasn't like notarized or anything about about what to say, so I'm saying this now. We're gonna play a game called Only Connect. Um, Only Connect is a British uh uh game show, and I mean British, British, like I mean, not the fact that you can't understand a word they're saying, they give you like clues and hints, and um yeah, it's uh it's pretty difficult to figure them out. I mean, I showed them to the guys, and their response was not so great. Uh, I'm not surprised. But how I discovered um Only Connect was from the Dead Me podcast. This is where I really have to start making some credits here because I can't take all the credit on this one, or I can't steal credit. If you don't know what the Dead Me Podcast or Dead Me, it's the horror YouTube channel that just does horror stuff. They did uh oh, they did two episodes, and both of them I believe were um last-minute ideas, but they were two episodes about um well, horror movies. Uh and it's basically it's difficult to like like so well, pretty much that's where I got it from. Like, you when you watch them, James A. J. First of all, James A. Janice and Chelsea Rebecca. If y'all are listening to this, full respect to you all. And if y'all are not, if anybody's out there that listens to them and knows them, please tell them about this because they inspire me to do this one. Um, and to the creator of Only Connect, right now I hate you because you made a show so difficult, but you also inspire me too. So you guys gave me you guys give me some fun ideas for this one. Um, please don't take it down because I really because I think this is gonna be a really fun uh episode today. But um, I'm gonna do Christmas movies because it's a lot fun. Um, and most people like to play games around Christmas time. So, but how it is is like you're given four clues. You get the first clue for five points, the second clue for three points. I don't know why they skipped the fourth point, but you get four clues, five points, uh three points, two points, and one point. And you have to figure it out based on the clues. So, and it's not that easy, it's not like I'm gonna say, like, um tip for five points, uh, David Harbour for three points, if you can figure it out. Uh Tim Allen for one point. I'm trying to think basically, like those are actors who play Santa is what I'm saying. It's not that easy, or it's not like I'm gonna say uh for five points, Black Christmas for three points, terrifier three for uh for two points, Saturday Night Daily Night, or one point for Gremlins. That's too easy. We know that's Christmas horror movies, those are words that people believe should not even exist in the first place, but no, yeah. Um, it's gonna be challenging. And if y'all want to guess, it's actually a lot funner. I did it with them. So, like some examples they did were um I'll go, I'll go off the fur, the very, very first one that they did on Dead Meet, which is um for five points Evil Dead. Okay, and that's broad, that's anything with Evil Dead, uh Sam Raimi, which I hope to meet one of these days. Uh and then um what is it for three points American Cycle for two points carry for one point Beetlejuice? And you're trying to figure out how they all connected. And I'm and I'm just there, like, what's going on? What is this game? And then like cinematography. No, so the answer actually to that was uh horror movies that were eventually turned into Broadway plays. So I was like, Yeah, I was like, wait, there's a Broadway musical of Evil Dead. I know about Carrie um from Riverdale. I've never seen Riverdale, but my sister told me about this episode. Um, but I know about Carrie, I didn't about Evil Dead and I didn't know about American Cycle. Um, but yeah, so without further ado, first of all, let me get my share screen ready. Can y'all see it?
SPEAKER_02All right, yeah, it's on Google Slides.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, this was how I was able to make it. Um, all right, so I gotta been a while since I dabbled with um since I dabbled with Google Slides because this was the best way for me to actually do this view slideshow. Here you go. All right, y'all see that? Yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02I I don't know what I don't know why, but for some reason, since you and I went to Northwest Vista, it feels like we're doing like one of those class presentations.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, dude, don't remind me. Because Josh, okay, just a side note before we start, Josh and I met at an acting class at Northwest Vista College. Um, yeah, I'm I was trying to remember that play that we had to learn. Oh man, it was a really messed up play, too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was messed up. I mean, you were playing like some I I I for I was playing because here's the messed up part. I was playing uh a boyfriend that was basically being like verbally abused by his girlfriend.
SPEAKER_00And I was playing and I was playing the jerky uh best friend of the boyfriend, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And wasn't it wasn't it your friend being like like pretending to be some kind of like baseball player?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, it's where like it's it's hard. I forgot what it's called. I think it's called like sitting pretty or something like that.
SPEAKER_02I yeah, yeah, I it was some of I don't I don't recall the name, but but you're bringing back memories.
SPEAKER_00Okay, somehow, if uh Miss Tefoy, if somehow you're listening to this and you know this exists, please reach out so you can remind us what it is. But and for the record, uh Miss Alicia Tefoya was our drama teacher. So thank y'all for so thank you for putting me and Josh together in a class. Well, technically Josh and I signed up for the class, but anyway, all right, let's get started. Only Connect Christmas edition. Um, all right, so y'all are good now? Yeah, yeah, thank you. Okay, all right. So y'all ready?
SPEAKER_02Yes. All right, may the best men win.
SPEAKER_00All right, hold on. Do y'all want to do it? Do y'all want to do this as a team or do y'all want to do it individually?
SPEAKER_01I mean, uh, how many teams would there be if it was just three of us?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I mean, I know the answer, first of all. I'm the one who made them.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I think we'd be best if we do it individually because we could just give our own store.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I gotta figure out how to keep score now. So, all right, y'all ready? Yeah. All right, for for five points. Uh give me a second.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wait a minute. Just to also start it real quick, just to be for it to be fair, you know how um I guess in the show, you know how you have one of do you do you are you gonna tell us that one of us we have the floor, and then if we get it wrong, then the next person has it, or uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I would say y'all both get like one guess.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Okay, all right, here you go. All right, for five points, a Christmas carol. Y'all both have this Josh.
SPEAKER_02Wait, hold on a second. Before we do start, like, do we have to like name a Christmas movie or a specific person?
SPEAKER_00No, you have to figure out what they all have in common.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why I was gonna skip it because I was like, I don't know. I don't know yet.
SPEAKER_02Okay, for five points, what do they all have in common?
SPEAKER_00Um you want to skip this one? Because I'm letting the audience know right now the five points uh clue, hardly anybody can get that. Like, hardly anybody gets that. You it it'll you have to pull a Hail Mary to figure it out in just the first clue. All right, you wanna move on, Josh?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, move on.
SPEAKER_00Okay, for three points, elf.
SPEAKER_01Um yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna pass.
SPEAKER_00All right. Uh okay, Josh, are you gonna pass?
SPEAKER_02Well you have I have the answer has to be something that's that they're all it's wait. So the answer to the question is it has to be something that they all relate to?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, let me see. Elf. Um okay, I'm I I'm I don't know if I get this right or wrong because I this is this game is making me all right, it is true. This hard this game is getting kind of hard, even for the first time. Um, okay, let's see what they all have in common. Um it all takes it all takes place in New York.
SPEAKER_00No, but that wouldn't be a bad guess if um if I did Scrooged instead of uh Christmas Carol, because if y'all don't know, Scrooged is a is a American adaptation of a Christmas Carol with Bill Murray, but and I think it does take place in New York, but you that is actually not a bad guess, but um not the answer.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, like can you like just give us the answer just to know like what we're expecting?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so how about this? Like, let's play through the first one, let's do this, let's not count this so if we get it, like so we can see how this works. Like, you know how like a practice kind of practice, a practice round?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Alright. All right, ready for the next one? Yeah, all right. Well, the next answer is not gonna be that uh hard as this one is. All right, for two points, a Christmas story. Do you want me to proceed for the next one?
SPEAKER_02Might as well.
SPEAKER_00Alright. All right, for one point, Dr. Seuss's how the Grinch Snow Christmas.
SPEAKER_01This is wild.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. All right, y'all want me to do that?
SPEAKER_01Wait a minute. Is it is it that they're all based on stories?
SPEAKER_00Uh no, but good guess. Oh, I got one.
SPEAKER_02Is it all is it based all because they're based on cartoons?
SPEAKER_00No, but that's also not a bad guess either. All right, y'all ready for the for the next one? Yeah. All right, the answer is Christmas movies and stories that were turned into musicals.
SPEAKER_01Okay, like I wouldn't have gotten that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so there's so Elf the musical came out not too long ago. The Grinch, I believe, came out in the early 2010s. There was a um a musical with uh Kelsey Grammar. For those of that know that he played uh Dr. Frasier and Frasier and um uh Fox Fox Live, not Fox News, Fox Live did um the Christmas story live and it was a musical. But all right. This next okay, this next round this next round should not be as difficult. All right, y'all y'all ready? Yes, yeah, all right. For five points, a blowtorch.
SPEAKER_02We both said it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but it's very specific.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that was gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna have to pass it.
SPEAKER_00Alright. For two points, I mean for three points, a plaster bag. Alright. Y'all give up? Yeah, I don't know that one. Alright. Alright. For two points, paint cans.
SPEAKER_01The second one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But what is it they all have in common?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I got it. They're all they're all tools. They're all tools or stuff used that uh that Kevin used to to catch Harry and Marl.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll give it to you. So yeah, for one point it was bricks, but the the answer was items that were used as traps in Home Alone. So Josh gets two points.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, because I was like, I would I don't I don't know if I used uh incorrect word. I I I used tools, but what I meant to say was traps.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but you were close, but you know what, you were close enough to that that I'll get to give you the answer. So alright, I'm actually gonna put this in my notes. So Okay. I was gonna put J and J, but I'll forget which J.
SPEAKER_02Uh this uh put down uh let's put Josh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Josh has two points, Chewy Vasquez has zero. Alright, as Suze, none. Alright, okay, all right, next one. All right. Oh man, okay. This we're going back to harder. For five points, Mickey Mouse. Yeah. I'm not gonna lie, this is gonna I think I might figure it out as soon as I get to the last one. But um the all pass. Yeah. Okay. For three points, the Flintstones.
SPEAKER_01Okay, is this just like um Christmas specials made by the cart by these cartoons?
SPEAKER_00No, but close enough. Or no but close. Like they all have something in common other than being Christmas specials. Y'all ready for the next one? Yes. Alright. For two points, Looney Tunes. Alright. Y'all ready for the last one?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright, for one point, epic rap battles of history. Come on, as soon as you know the epic rap battles.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I don't I don't know how that has anything to do with all three.
SPEAKER_00Alright, y'all give up?
SPEAKER_01They're all they're all uh Do they have a Christmas carol in them?
SPEAKER_00Yes, that's the answer.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. Oh, you got it, you got it.
SPEAKER_00These are different adaptations of a Christmas carol in other mediums because Mickey Mouse did um the Christmas Carol with Scrooge McDuck as Scrooge, because obviously, um Flintstones, it's weird, like they did a production of um a Christmas Carol, and I think like Charles Dickens is called Charles Brickens or something like that in the yeah in the Flintstones. Um Lunatunes did Bahumbug or Baham Duck with Daffy as the Scrooge character, and then Epic Rap Battles of History was Donald Trump back when people liked him versus uh Ebenezer Scrooge. And that was the only time that uh Nice Peter ever played Trump because from the next uh if y'all know Epic Rap Battles of History after that, the next few episodes that had Trump were played by Epic Lloyd, his uh career partner. All right, so Jesus has one point. Don't worry, guys. I'm not gonna make y'all do this for like more episodes, it's just like probably a one-time thing. All right, ready? Yeah, all right. For five points, Kelsey Grammar. Starting off with an actor y'all have never heard of. I just thought about that right now.
SPEAKER_01Hold on a minute. Wasn't Kelsey wasn't he in um didn't he play the kid? No, I'm probably I'm probably messing messing him up. Um, he's not the guy who was like always in those frosty snowman in the endings when he's just talking to the audience.
SPEAKER_00No, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was confused. Yeah, I thought so.
SPEAKER_02That name does sound familiar, Kelsey Grammar. Is it well the thing is, Kelsey, is that a girl or a guy?
SPEAKER_00It's a guy. Um most recently, other than Frasier, the the new seasons. Um, he also came out in uh the Jesus Revolution, which I haven't seen, but I I know about the movie.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I saw that movie. It's it's it's really nice.
SPEAKER_00All right, let's go to the next one then. All right, for three points, Jim Carrey.
SPEAKER_01Okay, these are all actors who played Scrooge.
SPEAKER_00Yes, but there's a specific to it. So think about the actors and think about Scrooge. Well, like pretty much like think of like these actors and think about um the setting of um the Christmas Carol. It's very specific. Like I said, this it's not gonna be like you know, hundreds. Uh no?
SPEAKER_02Um are they all portraying somebody who's Christian?
SPEAKER_00No, but I should have thought about that too. All right, y'all ready for the next one? All right, well, it's gonna be another actor who plays Scrooge, but George C. Scott. Think about it. Think about where these actors are and think about the time or think about the place. Don't think about the time of a Christmas Christmas carol. Think about the place of a Christmas carol, and think about where these actors are from. I know that's a whole lot of words I just had to put up to y'all. Are y'all ready for one pointer? Alright. Bill Murray.
SPEAKER_01They were all born in the United States.
SPEAKER_00I'll give it to you.
SPEAKER_01Yay, Jesus.
SPEAKER_00So these are American actors that play Scrooge or Scrooge-like character. Yeah, so yeah, well, yeah, even though technically Jim Carrey is from Canada, he holds American citizenship. It counts, okay? Ice that counts.
SPEAKER_01We'll be alright.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, all right. So now Jesus has uh two points. Y'all are y'all are both tied. All right, ready for the next one? Yep. All right, for five points, planes, trains, and automobiles, which I just saw a little bit earlier. It'll actually look pretty good.
SPEAKER_01Hey, they all started Jim Belushi.
SPEAKER_00No, what were we gonna say?
SPEAKER_01Uh uh about planes, trains, and automobiles.
SPEAKER_02I right now, as we're speaking in this podcast episode, I just came back from attending the Holotus uh Christmas town parade. Oh, really? Yeah, it was it was really nice. Sorry if I got sidetracked you there, but when I heard the phrase planes, trains, and automobiles, I just thought about it right now because I saw a lot of um the fire department was there, uh the police department, all the color guard, all the the military. They're they're all like in these little floats, and for some reason I just thought about it right now, so I might as well share it. That's cool.
SPEAKER_00I might I might think about that for next year. Um ready for your next clue? Yeah. Beetlejuice. Yeah, I should have started because I forgot like how these artists, so n none of these clues are Christi are Christian, well, not Christian movies, but none of these clues are Christmas movies, but they have something Christmassy in common.
SPEAKER_02Are you playing strains, automobiles, beetle juice? All right, go on to the next point. Alright, Goodfellas. Okay, this may sound kind of sinful, but I have never watched I've seen clips of it, but I have never watched a full film of a Bronx Tale or Goodfellas.
SPEAKER_00Well, you don't really need to like see these movies, you just need to know like who's in these movies.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I was gonna tell you, like, I've only seen Goodfellas one time. Um, but if anybody is rememberable in that film, and I'm assuming any of these films have them. Um, it's a wild guess, because I mean I'm I'm sure I'm wrong. What is it? Uh Joe Pesci.
SPEAKER_00I mean Joe Pesci, there is an involvement with Joe Pesci, but not for the other clues. Okay. Just for the goodfellas part. So think about planes, trains, and automobiles, who's in it? Beetlejuice, who's in it? Goodfellas, who's in it? All right. Y'all ready for the for the last one? Yeah. The good sun. That one's also a guess. I was hoping I would figure this out for beforehand.
SPEAKER_02Do they all do they all have Macaulay Culkin in it?
SPEAKER_00Well, just the good sun.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because like because Macaulay Culkin's not in Good Fellas, and he he's not in Beetlejuice. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Y'all, y'all ready for the answer then?
SPEAKER_01Wait, wait, wait. Do they all have a Christmas tree in them?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Josh?
SPEAKER_02I'll pass.
SPEAKER_00I'm I'm clueless. Okay. These movies that have a cast member from Home Along. Oh. Wow. Think about it. Uh John Candy was in Plain Streets and Automobiles. Um, Catherine O'Hara was in Beetlejuice. And then Joe Pesci, obviously in Goffet is what you want his Oscar for. And and Kevin and Macaulay Poken and Nikon. Yeah. You know, a little sidetrack. I thought of like a home alone movie idea, too. Um, just real quick, if y'all want to hear it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So my like an idea was, and I hope they hear it so that um they can do it, even if I'm not involved.
SPEAKER_03Copyright, copyright.
SPEAKER_00But my idea was what if this time it's a girl that's setting up all the traps? And in this universe, uh Kevin is like the new version of the old man Marley and um the bird lady. Like, like now he's the older generation that has to be taught by the younger generation. And in this world, um, because the actor who played uh his dad passed away not too long ago, actually. Um, I think John Hurdit was his name.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he passed away a few years back.
SPEAKER_00So, like part of like Kevin's backstory in this one is that like he's he's grilling in with that, and he's like set in like he's separated from his family because he doesn't want to deal with it, and it's basically like this girl who's also like understand like her parents are separated and they both are like not with their family members and stuff like that. The only part is how do I fit you know house burglars into all of this? But um, that was like a simple idea because it would be interesting to see how how a girl would set up all these traps too. Yeah, and you know, back when I was talking about um when we were talking about like the traps that were used for home alone, you know what I should have caught it? Things Harry and Mars should not have survived from because nobody can get hit with four bricks in the head falling from a hundred feet in the air and still walk out alive.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I could have questioned the logic behind that too, because like a man I there was like a video. I don't know if you saw it, it's on YouTube where there's an actual medical practitioner or an ER that one. Yeah, he would say that if somebody actually sustained these injuries, they would not be conscious.
SPEAKER_00No, no, they would pretty much be dead. And I don't know how I mean there's there's already a theory out. There was a theory out there that Kevin is um jigsaw, John Kramer from the Saw uh movies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, oh yeah, me too. I heard about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, all right, ready for the next one? Yep, I'm ready. All right, I again I don't even remember what I put on these, so let's just see. Okay, now oh yeah, this one's also gonna be a little difficult. All right, for five points, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Y'all might have to rely if you've only seen one of these clues. Y'all have to rely if y'all have only seen if y'all haven't seen this one, I can help y'all a little bit.
SPEAKER_02No, I I've seen this movie.
SPEAKER_00Okay, which is what which is look, I'm wearing my National Lampoon shirt, actually. Um, which I hope to me, cousin Ed or yeah, Cousin Eddie, um, this coming next uh big Texas Comic Con. Um, but anyway, y'all ready for the next flu? Yeah, all right. Home Alone back to Home Alone again. All right. I was like, you would have to have seen these movies, actually. The next two movies, I couldn't guarantee you y'all probably have not seen them. But if y'all need some uh some help, I can help you out with this one a little bit more. So think about like Home Alone and National Lampoons. Like normally in National Lampoons Chris vacation movies, they take place you know on vacation, they're going to somewhere else, but this time they're having a Christmas staycation. Think about the staycation part and think about Kevin. Think about the Griswolds having a staycation at home and think about Kevin being left alone. I know that kind of sounds broad, but just process it real quick. All right, y'all ready for the next one? Yeah, all right. Probably movie y'all never seen Christmas with the cranks. Oh, I've seen this one before. Okay, all right. Think about like where are these people? Where are they all staying? Do y'all need the last one? Yeah, yes, yeah. Okay, okay, sorry. Fred Claus. That one I another one I couldn't guarantee y'all saw.
SPEAKER_02They're all staying in the in the United States, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But specifically, which where were in the United States?
SPEAKER_02Like, well, let me see this. Uh I I would think like the like the Midwest.
SPEAKER_00Yes, there's a city that they all stay in. Is it uh no, it's not Chicago, is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's Chicago.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so Josh gets the one point. So yeah, Chris Ms movies that are set in Chicago. All right, Josh is up by one. Oh, hold on. Sorry, y'all didn't see that one. Josh now has three. All right, ready? Yeah, all right. Hopefully this this can jog y'all's memory. All right, home alone and home alone two for five points. Now you we have two sets of movies for each clue. Like, like don't don't think about three to whatever it is. Plane rides. What? Plane rides. Um, nope. All right. Josh, you want to pass? Yeah, I want to pass. Alright. For three points, black Christmas and a Christmas story.
SPEAKER_01That is very, very that's very contradictory of themselves. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but they have something, but they have something in common.
SPEAKER_01They have guns.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01They have a bad guy.
SPEAKER_00No, but close. I mean, pretty much a lot of movies have bad guys. Are y'all ready for the next clue?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00Hopefully, this next one should it should really help y'all. The Polar Express and a Christmas Carol, specifically 2009.
SPEAKER_02Oh, wait a minute. I got I think I got it. They all feature someone who's homeless.
SPEAKER_00No, but not a bad guess. Like, there's a reason why I chose that two movies was in the same cat was in the same clue.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because like a Christmas story is is wait, okay. Okay, yeah, because Christmas story is the one with the kid with the who's wanting the BB gun. Yeah. And Black Christmas is the one where the guy tries to murder people on Christmas.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so Black Christmas, um, um specifically on the original 1974. I've only seen parts of it, but uh what I found out about what these two have in common was actually pretty crazy.
SPEAKER_01Like, like there's a lot of whim here. Um, do they all involve some sort of plastic bag?
SPEAKER_00No, okay. Okay, damn. I was hoping I didn't have to go to this last one. Okay.
SPEAKER_02What? Wait, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for interrupting. Go ahead, Gilbert.
SPEAKER_00No, you're good. I said I was hoping I don't have to uh I didn't have to go to this last one, but all right, y'all want the last one?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right. This one, yeah, I think y'all wouldn't get it with the last one, but it's a jingle all the way in a Christmas story too. Not to get that confused with the Christmas story Christmas that came out not too long ago. A Christmas story too, which is a made for television movie that nobody saw but me. Um, but when I found this out, I was like, oh, okay, so this became a category that I could actually do. Like, I thought about doing this category when I saw specifically the first three clues. Y'all ready for the y'all just want the answer?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I'm yeah, I'm I don't even know because I even I don't even know they made a a Christmas story too.
SPEAKER_00Why do you think I said because nobody's and nobody saw it? All right, these are Christmas movies that were directed by the same person. So Chris Columbus did Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Bob Clark, who directed a Christmas story, also directed Black Christmas. Robert Zemekis did a Polar Express and a and a Christmas Carol. And then I found out the same guy who directed Jingo All the Way and uh Jingo All the Way directed the Mayford Television Christmas story. Yeah, but I was hoping maybe the Polar Express and a Christmas Carol 2009. I hope I was hoping maybe that one was a kicker.
SPEAKER_01You know why I see a plastic bag, right?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so um just uh put on a sample point. So you know how in Home Alone 1, uh at least one and two, uh Marv or Harry had to like get a plastic over them when it was one of those traps. Um I guess it was covering their face. Um Black Christmas. I mean, you have the infamous scene that's shown in all the marketing and whatever of the lady that gets showed with a bag of some sort. I don't even know if it was a bag. It just must have been something. Um, and then I thought about I don't know, something else from a Christmas story that's gonna do with plastic. That's why that's why I said plastic, because I just I don't know. I kept I was like, I didn't expect that answer to be the one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was hoping like the at least even Home Alone, Home Alone 2, it could have been this one because Chris Columbus directed the first two, and then they continue on without same thing with Harry Potter, by the way. He directed the first two Harry Potters, and then they wanted to move on without him. But uh all right, so we're gonna take a little bit of a break right here. I think we have three more, but uh um, I got something to do real quick. So we're gonna take a quick break right now, and uh we'll be back.
SPEAKER_02All right, ready? Yeah, let's get this party started.
SPEAKER_00All right, and okay guys, we are back. Um right now the Josh is up by is our Josh's score is three, his SUSE score is two. I think we have like two or three more, and then we got another section. So um, alright, y'all ready? Yeah. All right, okay. For five points, the Santa Claus.
SPEAKER_01They all occur in the North Pole.
SPEAKER_00No, but not a bad guess. All right, Josh. Um, keep going. Okay, all right, okay. For three points, home alone.
SPEAKER_02They all feature Santa.
SPEAKER_00No, but I should have thought of that one. All right, like is it like specifically I'm I'm I'm going off just not not the other movies from their from I'm not going off sequels, I'm just going off like these movies. All right, hold on. For two points, die hard. Specifically, I'm saying like the Santa Claus 1994, Home Alone 1990, Die Hard.
SPEAKER_01They all say ho ho ho.
SPEAKER_00No, but uh that also should have been an idea. All right, y'all ready for the last one? Yes, uh Black Christmas 1974. Y'all actually don't need to actually have seen these movies, but you know like these these exist. There's like something specific. Like, there's a reason why I'm only focusing on these and not the others.
SPEAKER_01No, because that wouldn't make sense because Black Christmas was the first one out of all of these to come out. I was gonna say they came out between the 80s and 90s, but I mean no, but not a bad guess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because like okay, let's see. Black Christmas, Die Hard, Home Alone Santa Claus.
SPEAKER_00Um like understand why I'm not saying Die Hard 2, why I'm not saying Home Alone Lost in New York, why I'm not saying another film from the Santa Claus, and why I'm only staying on the origin the Black Christmas 1974.
SPEAKER_02Isn't that all of them occur in the month of December?
SPEAKER_00No, I mean it's a Christmas movie, they all occur in the month of December. All right, y'all want the answer?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I'm playing with 20.
SPEAKER_00Okay, these are Christmas movies that are the original in their series. Oh why do you think I'm saying like why I'm not speaking on the other films in their franchises? Why I'm specifically saying Home Alone 1990, I think 1990. All right, I think this might be the last one. Oh no, I think we have uh two more. All right, for five points. It's a wonderful life. We've never gotten to that movie until now. They were black and white. No, but that actually came there. That was an idea I thought of. I just couldn't think of a lot of them.
SPEAKER_02They all feature angels.
SPEAKER_00No, but that's also not a bad guess. Because I always felt like I mean, going, I mean, going off topic, I always felt like the ghost and the Christmas story are angels. That's specifically the ghost of Christmas past. Uh anyway, let's get to the next one. For three points, the Grinch.
SPEAKER_01They all feature somebody who was just like upset at life or upset at people for ruining their lives when they all come at change of heart at the end.
SPEAKER_00No, but I should have thought of that one too. Uh, for the record, guys, I've been making these like late at night throughout the week, so I'm just like coming up with ideas and just jutting them down and then having to go back and redo them. All right. Josh, you want to skip to the next one? Are y'all y'all ready for the next one?
SPEAKER_02Oh, hold on. Sorry, my my my uh my microphone was wasn't working. Um isn't that all of them are okay? I don't want to sound morbid, but isn't that all the main protagonists in the stories are depressed?
SPEAKER_00No, that that's kind of like the shorter version of what his said, too. All right, all right, y'all ready for the next one? All right, I'll just give y'all the next one. Jack Frost. All right, y'all have any ideas?
SPEAKER_02Jack Frost.
SPEAKER_00So, I mean, think about Jack Frost specifically, like let's put it this way a snowman Jack Frost for the record. Can y'all hear like loud thumping on my end?
SPEAKER_01No, okay, because probably from my end, because um there's a party going on next door.
SPEAKER_00Well, whatever that party is, it's probably making its way over here because I can hear some loud thumping outside my window.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, then no, it's not okay.
SPEAKER_00Think about Jack Frost. That's not the like if y'all want to know specifically. Um, the what was it, the Michael Keaton version? But that's not the only Jack Frost movie that's out there that's called Jack Frost. Is it the horror movie? Yes, and you're going on the right track.
SPEAKER_02Oh, wait, you're waiting. I I get it. All these original movies have been turned to horror movies.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Um the last one, so Josh gets two points. The last one is Home Alone, even though there isn't really a um a home alone horror. I'll get to it, but Christmas movies that have a horror counterpart. So here's the actual thing: the Jack Frost horror film actually came out a year before the Michael Keaton uh Jack Frost.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're hearing about that.
SPEAKER_00So I found this out. People would um uh what is it? So um black back then when Blockbuster and Hollywood was a thing, um, when you could go and rent movies out, um, people would get the Michael Keaton Jack Frost and the horror version Jack Frost, and they would switch them out just as a complete joke. So, yeah, so as for if y'all are curious about Josh got two points, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so Josh has five now. So, like I said, there isn't a this is kind of a cheat with the Home Alone one, but uh some people can say this is kind of like a psychological horror version of Home Alone. So there's this movie that came out called Um Better Watch Out, and it's like the it's like a home invasion horror film, which I didn't even think that was a thing, but it takes the twist of um some of the traps in a whole twisted way because you know how like nobody would survive these traps. Well, some of the famous traps actually are in here, or one of the famous traps is in this movie. I'm not gonna say which one, and yeah, the person dies from it. But the director said that the movie was inspired by Home Alone, so that's why I say this kind of counts a bit. But the re I can't give you the the full like cloud of the movie just because we're I don't want to like press off time and stuff like that. But uh, if y'all ever want to go check out Better Watch Out, I don't know where y'all can watch it, but um, yeah, it's a very twisted version of uh Home Alone. But anyway, you're already for the this might be the last one, I think. Yeah, all right, yeah, back to it. Five points. It's a wonderful life. Y'all give up? Yeah, next one. Yeah, all right, all right. Hold on. Before I go back, if you guys were wondering, I'm as I mentioned, yes, back in my Grinch episode, yes, there is a horror version of the Grinch, but because he's not um um in public domain, they had they couldn't call him the Grinch. And he's played by Art the Clown himself, um, David Howard Thornton. So put that into your head right now if you have if you haven't not heard of the mean one, which is what the uh the horror Grinch movie is called. And if y'all are wondering, It's a wonderful life. If there's a movie that came out not too long ago called It's a Wonderful Knife, and uh this movie is very gay. Oh hopefully, I'm not getting canceled for saying it like that, but that's what the writers and directors said, okay, that they said it's very gay. Um, so it's called It's a Wonderful Knife. I believe it's on Hulu. Uh Justin Long, who's always in a lot of horror movies, is in this movie. Um, and he he based his character off of Joel Olstein. So there's a fun fact there. All right, all right. Next movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. All right, I'm gonna I'm not gonna lie, y'all are probably gonna figure it out as soon as I get to the last point. All right, y'all y'all want to go to the next one? All right, Batman Returns. All right, I want the final clue now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right, die hard for one point.
SPEAKER_01They all take place at night.
SPEAKER_00No, think about it, like think about it. Um, uh I don't I it's I'm trying not to say give you a hint that doesn't involve saying a word that involves like what's the answer, but go to like think about Christmas movies. You get what I mean? Try trying to see. I know that's a very broad one. Specifically, like when you get to the like the bottom three. Think about what? Like specifically, think about the bottom three as well mainly.
SPEAKER_02Oh, hey, uh, let me think. Are they all directed by um Tim Burden?
SPEAKER_00No. Well, it is weird because most people don't notice that Tim Burton did not direct The Nightmare Before Christmas. He actually produced and wrote it, but he didn't direct it. No, no, I don't I think Alan Rickman was already born when It's a Wonderful Life came out. Oh y'all want the y'all want it the answer?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Movies that are debated if they are Christmas movies.
SPEAKER_02Oh, oh yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which Die Hard for the record is a Christmas movie. Yeah, and uh people were saying it's not because Bruce Willis said it in a clip. If y'all understand what the clip is from, you would understand that this was a joke. It came from a comedy central special called The Roast of Bruce Willis, and he ends it with saying, Die Hard is not a Christmas movie, it's a Bruce Willis movie. I see no difference. Um, and if you guys are wondering how is in the It's a Wonderful Life debated as a Christmas movie, so backstory here when um when the Die Hard, if it's when the Die Hard debate came out, along with um Batman Returns, because it's a superhero movie, no one's gonna put that together. Um, the Christmas stuff in It's a Wonderful Life if you've never seen it, only takes place about like legit only 40 minutes of uh the last 40 minutes of the movie. Everything else before that is just flashbacks that don't even take place around the holiday time. So that's why it was put into the argument. They're like saying, like, oh, so you're saying Die Heart's not a Christmas movie. Well, if you watch It's a Wonderful Life, the majority of the movie doesn't even take place on Christmas, but um, yeah, but yeah, uh, final score, Josh wins by five, and his size wins by two, I believe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he won.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know. I'm I like I said, these are uh this was a very tough game.
SPEAKER_02It was like I actually like because you you sent me that clip about the connect uh game, that British that British game show, and I saw it and it was very hard, like just trying to keep up with what they were doing. And even the first few rounds, uh like the ones that we did, it was very confusing, but as but as I began to fit the the pieces back into the puzzle and actually find like a rubbing pattern to the topic that they're asking, it became kind of clear if you ask me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, maybe I should have sent you all the um the dead meat ones because that would have been a little bit more easier. Yeah, but don't worry, I don't think we're gonna do this again. This is the only time I probably can do this unless I come up with a different like unless we come up with this again next year, but I have to come up with more ideas. Reason why I can't do anything else, like I can't do Halloween, because then I would be fully ripping off dead meat because people watch horror movies around Halloween, so and I don't want to do that. I love and respect those guys, not their opinions on the stranger things, uh, not to give some shade. I love stranger things, but they have some opinions about that. Um, anyway, so yeah, I was gonna take a break right now, but let's just actually continue to who said these lines. There's only six of them, y'all ready? Yeah, all right. Okay, so who's who says this line? Christmas movies only connect inspire, but was lines because Gilbert couldn't figure out the other part of Only Connect, which is true. Like the other half of Only Connect, I couldn't figure out because you had to say some other weird stuff, and then they had to say some stuff that relates to what you're saying. It just got confusing for me. So, all right, y'all ready? All right, who said this. Line. I'm speaking in rhymes. Y'all want the next one?
SPEAKER_01When you say who, you mean like a character, or do you mean like you want to put on a channel?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, a character.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Do y'all want the next the next clue? Yes. Alright. And this time I'll keep it off.
SPEAKER_01And uh I g I gotta say these are all Christmas films.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're all Christmas movies.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Alright, y'all want the next clue? Yeah. Alright. For two points, the avarice never ends.
SPEAKER_02Okay, that one sounds very familiar for me. Is is it uh is it a Christmas carol?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02The avarice never ends. That that that that line sounds familiar.
SPEAKER_00Alright, have a guess.
SPEAKER_01Um the nightmare workers?
SPEAKER_00Nope. Alright, here's the one-pointer. Solve world hunger, tell no one.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's the how the Grinch sold Christmas.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but which character, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02The Grinch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it's the Grinch. All right, Josh gets an extra one point. All right. So now let's just go this by round. So so dang it. This thing does not know how to type. Josh by one, Jesus by zero. All right, ready? All right, here's the next one. For five points, preparing to go to school was like getting ready to extend for extended deep sea diving. You know what? I'm just gonna I'm gonna skip this one because it's very specific. I'm very curious. Let's let's try it out. Yeah, all right, all right, for three points. Santa, yeah, I'll ask Santa. Y'all want the next one?
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00All right. Hey dad, I bet you'll never guess what I got you for Christmas. Oh, yeah, that could have been anybody now that I think about it.
SPEAKER_01Is it from the Santa Claus?
SPEAKER_00No, but we're we're gonna get some Santa Claus later on. All right, y'all want the last one? For one point? C plus. Oh no, it can't be.
SPEAKER_02Is it um wait, who's the who's the who's the kid uh from the st the story that the Christmas story, the main character?
SPEAKER_00Can you tell him that? I'm gonna lie, I know. Alright, but but do you think that's that's the answer, uh Josh?
SPEAKER_02I don't know because like didn't he like well didn't he like write a paper about how he wanted a baby gun for Christmas and the and the and the teacher gave him a C?
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah. So do you think 100% that's the answer?
SPEAKER_02You know what? Wait, no, I could be wrong, because maybe it was like a B. No, I I okay, I I'm getting confused. It wasn't him because if I'm I'm beginning to self-doubt myself, but I'll I'll I'll pass it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well you're you're really gonna be mad at yourself because it is him.
SPEAKER_02I knew oh Ralphie, oh Ralphie.
SPEAKER_00See, I couldn't tell you the name because then I would tell you the answer. But if you had said yes, then I would have like I would have allowed it to say yeah, that's the answer, even if you didn't know the character. But yeah, it's Ralphie. All right, all right, next one. Everybody loves Denny's, it's an American institution. Y'all pa y'all pass?
SPEAKER_01I mean it's from it's from uh Christmas vacation, right?
SPEAKER_00Nope. Joshua pass. All right for three points. I got it. The Molinator. All right, y'all want you want the next one?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, all right.
SPEAKER_00Now who said that? Rudolph? Rudolph's mama?
SPEAKER_01Ah, dude, you're really kidding me on this one.
SPEAKER_00All right, y'all want the last one?
SPEAKER_01Is that from diehard?
SPEAKER_00Nope. Y'all ready for the last one? Okay. A little white. Does this look like a little white to you?
SPEAKER_01Santa Claus.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll give it to you. Scott Calvin specifically is his name. But yeah, so now his cease has one point. So y'all are y'all are tied with one point in this round.
SPEAKER_02Oh, come on, Jesus. You can beat me.
SPEAKER_00All right, all right, ready? Okay, here's the next one. You sit around and you're and you're spin and sp and you spin. What why is it hard to speak, but it's easier to type? It's a very long one. You spin or you sit around and you spin your little webs, and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Do you ever just like read something you wrote, and then while you're reading it, you wonder why you put that in there in the first place? Because that's where I am right now.
SPEAKER_01Uh is it the uh Christmas Carol?
SPEAKER_00Uh no. You already forgot?
SPEAKER_01No, it's a diehard.
SPEAKER_00Nope, not diehard either.
SPEAKER_02You sit around here, you spin your little webs, and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Yeah, because I was about the Christmas Carol too, but nah, it's it's not it.
SPEAKER_00All right, y'all y'all ready for the next one? Yes. Alright. What do you want? Do you want the moon? There this was a lot longer. I just didn't feel like running all of it because I mean I ended like having to extend and fix the thought bubbles in this in in this one, but wait a minute, is it is it uh Groove from Despicable Me?
SPEAKER_02Because you're you're there's a quote that says we're gonna take the moon.
SPEAKER_00No. Um yeah, no, we're still on the Christmas movies one. All right. Y'all ready for the next one?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Two points. If it wasn't me walking, I'd say you were the most prettiest girl in town. I know y'all are drawing a blink. All right, y'all want the last one?
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_00Alright. God, God, dear father in heaven. I'm not a praying man. You sound like you had something.
SPEAKER_01The only other movie that that we've talked about in this whole thing that would have any ounce of that I know mentioning God would be a wonderful life.
SPEAKER_00And who's it who's the character in It's a Wonderful Life?
SPEAKER_01That's where I'm that's where you got me.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but do you think it's the main character?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Josh, you don't have any other answer?
SPEAKER_02Um, I haven't really seen a wonderful life that much.
SPEAKER_00Okay. All right. So Jesus says his submission, he thinks it's him, and it is George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I was thinking like the last line was the last line that I got that I was thinking of, because no other film had that. Or at least I don't remember any film mentioning God.
SPEAKER_00All right, all right, Jesus, I give it to you since you had a closer at the closer answer. So now Jesus is leading with two and Josh was one. All right, there's two more, so let's see if Josh can make comeback. All right, we are in some serious jelly. All right, next one. Yes, all right. Come on, come on. I got a schedule to keep.
SPEAKER_01It's uh the Polar Express. Yes, which character the conductor because he's got a schedule to keep.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow, just saw the schedule, and I was like, okay, it had to be him.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so if if we had not got it, some of the other ones were here. We only got one rule, never ever let it cool. Oh, from the hot chocolate scene, yes, and then the last one is seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real thing uh in the are the real things we can't see. All right, so Sis got five points. Wow, because at least you get you gotta be good.
SPEAKER_01Look, if you didn't put the schedule or like you didn't mention anything about schedule, I would not have like clicked it, would not have played.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I think no matter what, because he's got a lot of really like, yeah, he's he's got a lot of famous quotes. So I don't think no matter what, y'all would have figured it out. All right, you ready? Yeah, okay. Put me down in 20 for 20. I'm good for it.
SPEAKER_02Keep going.
SPEAKER_00All right, who's driving this car? Stevie Wonder?
SPEAKER_01Is it diehard? Yes, uh McLean.
SPEAKER_00Yep, John McClane. So Jesus wins with eight and Josh was one. So Jesus wins this round. Yay, Jesus. And since Jesus technically has more points with eight than Josh had earlier with five, he technically wins the game. But yeah, some of the other points, some of the other points were does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza? I was not gonna put the other part of that line, if you know what I mean. Yeah, no freaking shoot, lady. Does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza? And then the last one was obviously welcome to the party, pal. Again, diehard is a Christmas movie.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, no, I was gonna say sorry. Yeah, couldn't hear you.
SPEAKER_00Wait, what?
SPEAKER_01No, I'm sorry, I was gonna tell you I couldn't hear you.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, yeah. No, you had you had everything right, but um anyway, uh Merry Christmas from Tough Love Pictures, and it's all about the media. Uh, see you in the new year. Yeah, see you you guys next year for the latter half of the season. Um, like I said, since the beginning, um, this year was hasn't been the best, starting with you know, wildfires and um plane crashes and famous like uh celebrities like Ozzy. And we've lost two Superman actors this year, uh Gene Hackman and Terrence Howard.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and also this I think it was this week we lost the voice actors uh from the guy who plays Sheen Estevez, the guy who voiced Doug Dimodome from the Dims Doug Dimmodome, and also to today we lost the dad of Selena Quintanila. Yeah, yeah. I mean, yeah, I I was really sad when Ozzy died. He was my favorite.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Hulk Hogan. We had um I was gonna say hold on. We also had like the the controversy that happened with Michael Tate, which I love News Boys, and I love um I forgot what the other band was, the DC Talk. So this that really hurt me for a guy who loved those groups.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this this was really hard. I mean, it it was hard on like so many aspects of it.
SPEAKER_00And then what was it? The you go the girl from Ukraine that was attacked on the bus or train. Yeah, and then Charlie Kirk, he got yeah, that one that one really pissed me off when I I didn't want to start off my podcast that way when I started the season, but the media made me because sometimes, like when you're full of rage, sometimes you all you gotta do is talk. But and like I said, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, you go ahead, my bad.
SPEAKER_00No, you can continue.
SPEAKER_01No, I was gonna say there was there was a whole dissonance, probably not the right word, but uh there was like um see because I'm I'm I was currently in in I was currently at school at the time, and so when that was happening, it was like you you had you could hear two sides every time you're walking from class to class. People were just saying, Wow, this, blah, blah, blah, and the other ones were saying, Well, that's very unfortunate, and all that. So it was it was it was pretty, it was it was crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and not only that, um, in the summer there was uh Camp Mystic flooding. And um Josh and I can relate because we worked at camps before, but like when the parents, when you're in charge of you know these people's kids, you know, you you make a guarantee to the parents that you're gonna see your kids at the end of the week. And that's a tough that was tough. I know that was tough for the people of Camp Mystic. Um, because as someone who's worked at camp, and Josh, I know you have yeah, like the responsibility is pretty much what I'm trying to say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, this year actually what was really depressing was um it happened after the day of 4th of July, and we actually had like this little mini firework spectacle at the camp because the camp I go to that I volunteer each year for the last two years, it's called Camp Blessing. It's a Christian summer camp that's designed to teach the gospel to children and adults with disabilities. And so I was an activity leader doing arts and crafts and also just leading groups. Um, and it was really unfortunate because we found out that we were actually brought aside. So after our last day, which is Saturday, so after all the kids get get out and go with their parents, we're kind of going like this uh a big group with all the staff. And so the weird thing was instead of meeting the auditorium, we all met at the lunchroom, and our boss told us that we would we were confirming that that a giant flood hit south of Texas and it hit near Kerrville, here near Bernie. And the worst part was my boss knew one of the girls who served both at Camp Mystic and at Camp Blessing, and it so happened that the the week after we had girls who survived Camp Mystic who were now being transferred to spend the the next two weeks of their summer volunteering at Camp Blessing as a way of coping. We were told that as part of the guidelines, we will uh never force them to go near a body of water like a river or a swimming pool, or do any activities relating to water because it might trigger them. Yeah, that's how serious it was.
SPEAKER_00Dang, but I mean that's also an inspiration of like helping one camp out, you know, when they really needed it. So but yeah, uh like I've like I said, uh something that uh Pastor Ed Newton told me, or not me specifically, but the church. He said, you know, like after what happened that week, um, with uh Charlie Kirk and Irina, the Ukrainian girl, um, was that like you can't expect things to get better, things are gonna get worse, not specifically here, not like not specifically 2025, but I mean like in life. All you gotta do is like keep the positive attitude, uh keep the face. Another thing I'm gonna say this for those that don't know, this year uh my car unfortunately got stolen while I was at a job interview. Um it it affected me, um, especially like my financials and stuff. Um, but luckily, uh pretty soon we're actually gonna start finding a we're gonna get a used car, hopefully, within the next next week or two. Um, but yeah, to the person that stole my 2009 Dodge Caliber on October 20th at 4241 Woodcock Drive at around 11 o'clock. Hope gets what's coming to you. But hopeful, hopefully you made your peace with God. Um I'm here, I really mean that, hopefully. Because I've had to find my peace with God on that one. Um, it's it's one of those challenges we all face, but uh, I don't want to end this on too much of a sad note. I do want to keep it on a positive note. Um, Merry Christmas, you guys. Um, I mean, I I would sing uh God rest thee, merry gentleman. God rest thee, merry gentleman. I don't have a good singing voice, but y'all have any last messages before we leave?
SPEAKER_02Um, I would say that for me this year has also been rough for me. Uh, I don't I I don't think I ever I told this to you when we're we're meeting up for lunch about uh last month. So one of the biggest challenges that happened to me this year was I was dismissed from my graduate school of counseling because I'm going for a counseling degree in LTC and also a master's in in in school counseling. But now it's being transitioned to marriage and family therapy counseling. And the we're the worst part was uh this year during the spring semester, I was dismissed because I had two complaints from two students in my class who are in the same program as me who are identify it as LGBTQIA plus, and because I didn't really say anything like derogatory, like this my interactions with them resulted in me getting two complaints in my performance and my evaluation to the point where I was dismissed academically, and although I had all the good grades, they're saying that I I lacked all of these competencies, and so what uh ended up happening was I was dismissed, and I actually had 27 credits to my name only to be found out that I had to go somewhere that's a different university, and I found that that not all my credits can be transferred, and they said the most credits you can transfer is 12 because in grad school it's not the same as undergrad. But the good news is this year I found a school, so this year I'm transferring in the spring and in January from UTSA to Tamoosa, which is Texas and Texas AM San Antonio, with a master's program in marriage and family therapy. And I thank God because when I went to Camp Blessing, I found the calling out where I want to go because I want to start counseling to those with special needs and disabilities. So my last thing I want to say is that when life comes down to you, you need to find support, but the only one that you need to trust the most is Jesus, because he's somebody that will never leave you and he will make things right. And there's a verse I I quote, which is my theme verse for this series in Romans 8.28 says, and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and are called for them and are called according to their purpose. And so things did end up going great for me in the end because I'm now going to a different environment that's for me, and also I now which I now know which program I'm going to in comparison to the last university I intended. So so don't lose hope. Just trust God and keep moving forward. That's all I have to say.
SPEAKER_01All right, any other m last messages, Jesus? Um, I mean, I know a lot of people, uh much as you guys have mentioned, uh, a lot of people haven't can't really say that this year was the best year for them. Um, you know, I have my own fair share with family and stuff like that. So uh as far as I can say, I mean, I honestly can't say any better than what Josh uh put it. Um, you know, just keep your keep the faith, keep uh believing in Jesus and understanding that your time, if your time isn't here, it's it's it's gonna happen soon. So we can't just not force the time to come at any time we want. We always we always leave it up to him because he knows when it's right. So um even if the year for any of anybody out here who's listening to this isn't their year, the next year is uh, you know, like it's never promised to us. So live every year, live every day. I mean, as um a day that you give give your life to to God and um you know understand what uh He has for has planned for you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, amen to all of that. Um I mean uh I guess it's like I'm just gonna end this off. Um how I I've never really ended off like this before, but I'm going to because I feel like God's telling me to. I'm actually gonna end off in a prayer. And I know like some maybe I have listeners that don't believe in God that I have a hard time, and I know that's stuff that's a tough thing, but um I this is just a meeting, it's also my podcast, and I can do I can do whatever what I want, say it without say what I want within reason, obviously. But I'm gonna say a prayer just to end this off. But um, if you're driving, don't bow your heads or close your eyes because you're driving. You can pull over. Um, but if like you're cooking, maybe just like stop for a second, turn off the stove. That can make it easier and stuff, but um, enough stalling. So here, here, here, here come. Dear Jesus. Um, we know that 2025 hasn't been the best year, and it's been the tough year for everybody. Um, from losses of family to political divide to um just like things that just ruin us, God. We know that there's an enemy that does enemy things. God, please be with those that are still in the the cross paths of the enemy. Please don't be with those that aren't feeling like they're falling away from you. Um, God, please be with us during 2026, for better or for worse. We know that you you never meant to hurt us, but to show us, Lord. Um, Lord, we love you and we give you all the praise. Amen. Amen. Amen. All right. Uh, you guys have a great night, day, morning. Uh, whenever y'all are listening to this, signing off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, signing off, guys. Merry Christmas. May God bless you all. Have a great, happy new year. Same thing. And we are all right.
SPEAKER_00Bye y'all.
SPEAKER_02Bye.
