Gilbert gives his thoughts on the Superbowl Half Time Show performance and gives his thoughts on who should perform the following year.

Alright guys, and uh welcome to the podcast of today's episode. Anyway, um just a little update before uh before we continue. I'm doing a little bit more better now um than how I left off the last episode. Um I think it's just um it's just the new normal for me now. I mean it it's something that I faced multiple times, but without digging it in too much, but uh I'm doing better now. Um it's just the grief that was like that's hard to get through. Um but yeah, um, but I I I again I do appreciate you guys understanding why. I you know I took I took some of that time off. Um I just had to be with my family during that time, but um again, just thank God for the understanding. And uh, you know, my grandma's never heard of my podcast at all, but um maybe she's actually listening now. Um but anyway, um uh what was unfortunate that that's the same weekend of the big uh I think I can only say this once, but it's the big uh it was the weekend of Super Bowl Sunday, and that's what I'm talking about today. And at this recording, it's actually already gonna be a week since the halftime show first um appeared onto the scene. And it's also a week since the halftime show and people still talk about it. Um I I was debating whether it should I have talked about it or not. And it's tough because it's like if I talk about it now and then I release the episode, it's gonna be kind of less relevant. It'll still be like old news, but in the end, I kind of still want to talk about it because there's so much I want to bring up. And I feel like it's time to like get it from a perspective that um that isn't what's the word? Is it's not coming from anybody that's either right leaning or left or left leaning, it's just basically um someone that just sees uh the performance who reviews it as a performance, and not only that, um I saw I've also saw the the the all-american halftime show, which was airing at the exact same moment as the Apple halftime show. So I saw I was watching both of them at the at the exact same time. So just to make a lot of disclaimers on a lot of things, A, I don't follow uh TP USA, Turning Point USA, and uh B, I didn't know any of the per other than Kid Rock, I didn't know any of the performers that um were performing at the All-American Halftime Show. Um, I think I've heard of Bradley Brad Bradley Gilbert, but um everybody else I wasn't, and then Kid Rock, I only knew the one song which he performed Ball with the Ba. I think how you that's how you say it. Um, but I I wanted to see both at the exact same time, just so I could get different perspectives. So what uh what I'm gonna talk about the two separate halftime shows, and then I'm gonna talk about something different, well, similar, like a halftime show-esque, but different from this year's. So, first of all, let's get into it. I'm gonna talk about Bad Bunny's uh halftime show because there was so much happening, and um, I I want to stay away from the politics of it all, um, just because there's just so much crap that's going on. And if you guys are ever gonna ask me, Gubber, are you ever gonna speak about ice or immigration and stuff like that? The short answer is not or or no, not now. Um the long answer is I don't want to talk about it because it's it's grinding on my mind or it's grinding my gears. Um, the thing is that I might eventually talk about the current uh political situations going on in this country. It's just that I need to find the right words to speak about it and the right time. And this is this isn't it right now for me. So without without getting into the politics of it all, I just want to um talk about and review the bad bunny performance as a performance, not as you know, like pro-America, pro-Puerto Rico, Latin America, like any of that stuff, I'm not gonna really talk about because that's just not in my wheelhouse. My wheelhouse is music, movies, television, YouTube, cooking, all that stuff. That's my wheelhouse. And sometimes when you when you bring politics into that wheelhouse, it turns me off. So let's just get into the uh the half the halftime show. So just as a performance alone, just as a performance, uh it was pretty it was pretty good and pretty interesting. The thing is, I don't listen to bad bunny. Um, like at all, I don't listen to bad bunny. And I know some people are gonna be like, bro, you he told you since he hosted, I think I think he hosted SNL that you have four months to learn. Brother, I've had I've what's the word? I've been learning Spanish for like eight years and I still don't know the language. Most people have been learning Spanish their entire lifetime and they still don't know the language fluently. Four months is like pretty much somebody who uh has the biggest IQ in the history of mankind, and I don't think that exists anymore. So, and it doesn't it didn't bug me that it was in Spanish. I mean, I'm not uh in all honesty, I'm just not sub I'm just not surprised. What I'm surprised is is that like Bad Bunny was the first one because I was joking around with some friends from church back in Huntsville. This was like the 2022 halftime show, and I said, How much you want to bet that they're gonna have like K-pop? Because that's what I thought at first. They're gonna have like K-pop performers at the Super Bowl because K-pop was super big, it's still super big now, though I wouldn't be surprised if this happens next year or the year after. But my friend, he was like, Wow, there ain't gonna be no English coming out of that. And I was like, Yeah, pretty well. Well, I mean K-pop does have songs in English, but not entirely, but that's what I thought. But Bad Bunny, even though he he already performed what was it, a couple of years ago, um, at the 2020 halftime uh show, but that was with um J Lo and Shakira as the headliners. He was just one of those, you know, performers that's there for the one song. Um, but anyway, um, but as a performance, um, it was alright, it was pretty good. The the the issue with this guys is that like uh the other reason why I held back on talking about this shit is because like no matter what, no matter what, no matter what opinion you have, you're gonna get shat on by both sides of the political party. And that's something they have in common, is that if you have an opinion that's opposite from either or's you're just gonna get you're gonna get hell for it. And that's unfortunate. I feel like what's happen what happened to I can have an opinion and you can disagree with that opinion. I don't know what happened. So, but again, take the politics of it all. It was a fine performance. I I didn't know any Bad Bunny songs. I still don't know any Bad Bunny f uh songs. It also doesn't motivate me to listen to Bad Bunny. That doesn't mean I don't know any Spanish uh song or music. Like I like the old regaton with uh Daddy Yankee, uh Don Omar, Nikki Jam. I love those guys. Um, especially now that uh Daddy Yankee is a Christian now, so makes me love him even more. Um the other the other ones, like I I I knew of Ricky Martin. I don't think I've ever listened to him. Mana was is one I've listened to. Mana was my dad's favorite uh band. For those that don't know, Mana is a Mexican rock band. And I remember my dad playing labios compatidos a lot. And then Titubieras Ido, I think that's how you say the name. Uh please somebody correct me on that one, but I know that was a cover of another dude named uh Solis. I did not look this up when I started, but yeah, I've known some uh some Spanish songs. Dan Saca Duro. I remember that used to be super big when I was in high school. I don't know if the people listen to it anymore. Um I l I went to again, I went to uh Christian high school, and during like the Hispanic Heritage Months, we would get like some some church bands that would sing Spanish songs, and one of the biggest ones was uh it it's it's got two titles. I don't know what's the real title. One it's either La Montaña Zamora or um Tetoviera Fe. Um but yeah, it's one of those like songs that like once they start playing, the whole audience starts dancing to it because that's it that was it. And you know, I live in San Antonio, so it's like we hear Gombia all the time. Salina. I mean Salina's the big one. Um there's a there's a song called uh La Balar de Gorilla, which means the gorilla dance. That's a big song. Um that's actually a remix. Um there's there's an original song that came out in Spain many years ago. Um, but the cumbia remix of that song is more more popular here. I don't know about anywhere else, um, either outside of San Antonio or outside of Texas. Uh we would always play like suavemente, you know. So I grew up around it. That doesn't mean I listened to it 24-7. Also doesn't mean I know Spanish. I mean, if y'all know if y'all can tell just from Jesus, um he's either he's fluent in Spanish. Well he said he's not fluent, but sometimes I call BS on him. But um, yeah, I mean I've had um I don't know if my friend Josh knows it well. Um, but uh I man, I should actually get some more Spanish speakers on the show now that I think about it. But yeah, no, I grew up around it. Sometimes I learned some of it. Like you can give me like a mover mover, which means move. Um the Toviera César de Mostaza, um just like having the the face of a mustard seat, which is in the Bible. But yeah, um but Bad Bunny's music was something that I I just never got into, especially because like regaton, and if you've ever translated most of his songs, because the translation showed up. Um a lot of regaton is dirty, like dirty talk. Like N Nicky Jamis Gom what was it? Ah man, gomotuseyama yonof, yonose, sorry, which means what is your name? I don't know. Oh. Or and then when he translates, girls, you know that I'll do anything to know a little more than just your name. The only thing I know is you're too fine. So I would like to leave with you tonight. And yeah, it that's actually the English version. Uh I don't remember too much of the Asta Al Amarecer or With You Tonight from Nikki Jum. Um, like even Daddy Yankee's ears were dirty. Uh the yeah, so reggaeton was dirty. And I don't even I don't know if you would if I actually do consider um Bad Bunny's um like Bad Bunny's music as a reggaeton, but um, I don't know. Uh my family really loves Bad Bunny because like uh Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny sold out San Antonio, like not not the same show, two completely different shows sold out like thousands of seats is within I believe it was the Alamo Dome, which is the one of the biggest venues here in San Antonio, sold out. But yeah, that was um um yeah, so yeah, they they they sold out completely. Other let's let's just go back to the performance. Production value was really nice. The fact that they had like a sugarcane field on the um like on the field, or or like because like they turned the stage or they they turned the field into um performance stage. Um, but yeah, uh they had they had um like the sugarcane field, they had like what was it, migrant workers uh working on telephone wires, which I didn't even know was a thing, um, to be honest with y'all. There was a couple that got married, like let not not an act married, like actually married on the on the performance. And what I learned was that it was basically like fans that wanted Bad Bunny to perform at their wedding, and Bad Bunny was like, No, I could do one better. Y'all can bring your wedding to my performance, and that's how it went. Um, Bad Bunny giving his Grammy to that little boy. Um, I think he said it's supposed to be a reflection of who he was as a kid in Puerto Rico. Um, which so I know I want to go to Puerto Rico one of these days. Uh my youth pastor was from Puerto Rico, he's from San Juan. Um, yeah, that it would be a nice uh little trip to go to. Um, but other than that, production value is great. The uh some of the perform dancing performances, that's where it was that I I'm one of those folks that gotta turn off a bit. Because you do see like guys grinding on each other in, you know, half some no, I wouldn't even say half-naked girls, because I wouldn't I wouldn't consider them half-naked. But like that, that those those outfits that girls were wearing is pretty common. I've seen that pretty common in a lot of recent uh halftime show performances. I I can't say the act the word again, uh, because of copyright. I have to say big game. And if I am allowed to say it, I can I think I can only say it once. But my point being is that it's just a prof a fine performance. And like yes, the lyrics were raunching, there was some raunchiness happening. And then I I did know that there were some uh what's the word? There were some celebrities like Pedro Pascal and uh Jessica Alba that was in the like the the group that's dancing in the in the performance. Lady Gaga came on stage and she already performed back in 2017, I believe. And then Ricky Martin again. Uh that that one I guess kind of sold me a bit because um Ricky you you don't hear much about Ricky Martin, and again, I've never really listened to Ricky Martin. Um uh I I know he he did some acting. Uh he came out in uh the assassination of Gianni Versace, which I think he played the boyfriend of uh Gianni Versace or life partner is what they tend to call each other. Um but uh yeah, performance, it was a pretty fine it was it was a pretty fine performance, was a very impressive stage uh production. Um just the fact that you brought some culture into there. Um the and uh the way it ended off is actually pretty interesting. And I know there was there was a billboard, I forgot what the billboard said. A lot of people really cling on to that billboard. I want to believe what that billboard said, I and I truly do. But uh what I've learned growing in all of this is that the unfortunate thing is that hate's been around since the dawn of time. You can and sometimes our hearts are though are so deceitful. What we think is love is actually hate, and even more than that, sometimes what we think is hate, or actually all the time is what we think is hate is actually love. And I could get more into that in later episodes, just not for this one. But uh yeah, I again like let's let's for once I'll put into the political side of this, okay? Though I I say that and then it just gets a full-blown, you know. Um, here's the thing I am one of those folks that can't stand woke culture. I'm also one of those folks that disagrees with a lot of conservatives on what is or isn't woke. Like, I don't consider sinners woke, and I know I talk about this film so many times, and I am I'm overusing that, but I don't consider it woke, I consider it history or what you know stuff that actually happened back then. Yes, I mean yes, the white folks are the vampires and stuff like that, but I mean there's more layers to it. Or but the other thing is that like what I've learned or something that I I have learned and I I found this out from Cody Leach. Um, he's not into politics, thank god. Um, but what he says is basically like he says that a lot of people on the woke side create woke things and they're the ones that give the ammo to the conservatives who who talk so much about wokeness. So it's basically like one side earth eggs on the other side, and the other side eggs on people like us. To my point is that this is why we have so much hate. You don't realize what hate really is. Um so with Bad Bunny, it's not the fact that like you know, where his immigration and uh American stances are, it's the fact that like once he was announced as the halftime performer, I knew I was gonna I knew I was gonna hate what the outcome was gonna be just by the announcement alone, not by the performance. And even with the performance, I was gonna hate what was gonna be the outcome. So many videos and so many, so many stuff. And even that, I hated that that it was talked about so much the next day, I'll be honest with y'all. Um but other than that, the Green Day performance I liked. Um, I mean, I only like uh Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Um, I never understood uh American Idiot until like until I actually actually started like thinking about what is politics, but I mean I still like it, the music and stuff like that. Um, but yeah, again, pretty fine performance, just not not my not my cup of tea is what I've oh what I've been trying to say, I guess. And also like the stage uh production values was really nice as well. Um, but that's all I can give it for, to be honest with y'all. I mean uh they haven't had a performance that I had I I enjoyed in at all, really. Maybe the 2022 was Eminem and Dr. Dre and stuff like that. Like I like those those rappers, and rap isn't even my my kind of music either. But it at least it's like performers I'm familiar with. But um, yeah, so I'm gonna take a break right now and then we're gonna get into the TP USA halftime performance. Alright, and welcome back. Alright, so I am gonna talk about the TP USA or Turning Point USA All-American Halftime Show. So, like I said, I saw uh both at the exact same time. Um so as far as I can know, I can tell you, I saw this on their YouTube channel, and on their YouTube channel, it had six million views. But apparently I think it had like I think 10 to 20 million. I think based off different uh platforms. So if people weren't watching it on their uh YouTube, it could have been I think their Instagram, or I think it was probably on their Instagram. I don't I don't remember where else they're performing it, probably also on their um on their website. Uh I I don't subscribe to Turning Point USA. Um, I gotta be honest with myself, and hopefully I don't end up on Erica Kirk's sue list, because like again, I've given my thoughts on you know what happened with Charlie Kirk, which was tragic, and stuff like that. And even though I didn't agree with him on everything, I can understand his point of view on certain on a lot of other stuff too. And um and I I guess I can also relate because like my mom is also a widow. I mean I mean when my dad passed, uh I can we we all shared the group together. It's just that uh uh it's just that like um you know they're younger, you know, Charlie and Erica, and my parents were older, and my sisters and I are already older, so it's not entirely similar, but it's things we can relate to. But I again I don't subscribe to TP USA. I'm not saying that to save myself from um friendships and stuff like that. I'm just being honest. Like, I don't subscribe to it. And like I said, like I don't listen to Bad Bunny, I also don't listen to Nicki Minaj either, even though she wasn't part of the performance. That's just me being again blatantly honest. Um again, none of their music was my kind of music. Um, and even like the music that was performed at the All-American Halftime show was also my they it wasn't cut my kind of music either. I don't really listen to country, I listen to Southern Rock, like I love Leonard Skinner. And like I said, anybody listening out there, if you want to do a movie about Leonard Skinner, I am so up to doing that one because I love Leonard Skinner. Again, I know more than just Three Home Alabama and Freebird and Simple Man. That's their that's the um the well-known songs about or that Leonard Skinner has. Um, to my point, um, I saw them again, not a not a big country fan. Uh I like some. I like Luke Combs, um, a little bit of Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, but they're not like Johnny Cash. That was real country for me. I love Johnny Cash. Um, maybe one of these days I'll do a Johnny Cash uh episode because I really do like it. Um, but yeah, I'm not not a big country guy, not a big kid rock guy either. And sometimes I wonder what does Kid Rock do? Is he because he likes to do rap, he also likes to do country, he also likes to do rock, like ball with the ball, you ball with the ball. I think I think that's how you say it. That used to be played on uh 99.5 Kiss Rock here in the San Antonio, the rock station. I don't know if that's played on any other rock uh stations uh across the country, but it also like surprised me that like really like you're gonna have Kid Rock perform. I mean, it's because he's never um as far as I can concern, I've never heard him really say he's a pro-Republican or a pro-conservative. He I know he voted for Trump. That that's all I remember. The the thing is that like it was we people were wondering, is this uh is this a uh a Republican halftime show, a Christian halftime show, an American halftime show? It's it it it it fits on what we're which perspective we're going for. Christian definitely not. I mean ball with the ball. I'm I'm I mean I knew about the lyrics long long before um even heard about Charlie Kirk. So I've heard that song. Long before I've heard about Charlie Kirk or Turning Point USA or even what it means to be a conservative and a liberal. So I was surprised because like I mean, literally the opening lines were like something about the the midnight servers and the topless dancers, uh the homies in Cell Block Six. Um and then again, I don't know any of the other performers, but from what I heard is that even some of their lyrics are not Christian or even kid friendly, just American friendly. So from what I heard, it's like not pro-Christian, pro-Republican, or pro-America, yes, depending on what your term pro-America is. This was all political, uh, both sides. I'm just gonna say that out there. There were both sides were purely political, but in the end, taking the politics away from it all as I'm trying to say, it was also a pretty okay performance too. Again, being honest here. Um, the the only thing I can give it, but I mean, even the Bad Bunny performance had this. What I can give it is that at least I can guarantee, or or at least I can give it, is that these performers had um instruments in a way. Because I'm not a big fan of folks on a on a computer creating their own music through a system. Like not AI, but like their systems that help you like I've used this before in school a long time ago. Um, so I like when people are on stage with their with their guitars and their and their pianos and stuff like that and their voice. Um, and it's just a basic, you know, stage production, just a stage with their instruments, which I actually do like. Um, because Bad Bunny was just about Puerto Rican culture and as well as Latin culture and stuff like that. Again, it looked interesting. Um the stage lightings and stuff on the turning point USA um All American Half-Tight show was not that bad either. Um, but in the end, both, and I'm and I'm saying it honestly, guys, both are pretty meh for me, or meh, however you say it. They were alright. They're just like I if they want to brag about it, that's them. To me, it's nothing to Brad Coleman about, but apparently it was a success. Because I I mean I don't know how much viewership they needed it, and apparently they want to continue next year. For me to like want to go back next year and actually watch it, is if they get somebody I really despise for the halftime show. But in the end, I'll be honest with you, in the end, it's like if they get some folks on the TP USA halftime show or all American show, um Um, and it's some folks I also just don't care for. I don't even think I'm gonna actually watch any of the halftime shows. I've never cared about uh like the halftime show of the big game for a long time, to be honest with you. Like the commercials were is what I was looking for, or previews of new films as the other thing I was looking for. Commercials have gone downhill a lot lately, and I can tell you like some of the Doritos commercials were like the best. I mean, there was one where um and I'll get back to the TP USA halftime show, but I want to fill her for a bit. Um, the Doritos one that I I loved was basically like this guy's faking his funeral and he's filling it and he and he filled his coffin up with funerals, and or he filled his coffin up with Doritos and he's watching the Super Bowl on a small TV, and it brings me back to a George Lopez episode that I also go back to, but uh that I'll also talk about later. Or like uh sorry, uh I had to edit this part out. That uh but to my point, he's watching the big game. Um so rewind. It's a George Lopez episode. I remember um that his uncle passed and the funeral was on the day of the game. And then in this in this uh in this ad in this commercial, um, this guy's making his funeral and he's filled his coffin up with Doritos and he's watching the game. But it's a close casket, so obviously people aren't noticing, but like he's he's so into the game that he's shaking the coffin and that he spills over, and you just see all the Doritos and everybody just freaking out. And one of his best friends, who is um who I guess he was in on it, just just went up and just did a like an opera song, like an opera heav song to the heavens kind of tone, and says, It's a miracle. There's that, there's another one where like this guy's uh about to date this mom and like he's talking to his son, like the mom's son, and he wanted to get some Doritos. Well, the little boy slaps the dude and he says, Keep your hands off my mama and keep your hands off my Doritos. And then another one is um hold on, let's go back to the um to the George Lopez. There was a George Lopez episode I I've already mentioned, or like his his uncle dies. His funeral is on the um the big game day, and he felt like he was gonna miss it, especially because like not only that, he also had tickets to the stadium. I guess it was performing I guess or I guess it was at Los Angeles at the time or just something for the show. And he again he already had tickets because his uh his uncle would go every year and what would have tickets available. But um, but and it was more than that. It was like uh George having to deal with um death. You get what I mean? I'm I'm I'm I'm almost dirty this year, but I've been to a lot of funerals in my life, and again, a more recent one. And like this what was was my grandma. I mean, her her funeral happened um two days before. But even if it was on if it was on the the big game Sunday, um I I couldn't care less because I mean that's more important than my grandma's you know time with my family that we need to be to have that closure together would be was more important than a big game, even more important than the halftime show. Um, and then yeah, but other commercials I enjoyed were like um the Betty White commercial where she made a comeback with that Snickers commercial where she were like it's this guy saying like you're playing like Betty White out there and it's Betty White, and then the guy's like here, eat a Snickers, and then it's uh a football player again. That that commercial has has like gotten so many, like, what's the word I'm looking for? There's so many variations to that one. There's like Arisa Franklin, uh Liza Minnelli, Joe Pesci, R.I.P. Don Rickles, um, so much. Uh-huh. And then uh uh this year we had like the Xfinity with Jurassic Park, which lets you know that it I'm pretty sure if Xfinity was there, then the park would not have had that problem. Let's put it like that. But um back back to it. Um look it was interesting to see Kids Rock actually perform. I forgot all about Kid Rock until the um you know the the announcement was up. But it's like I don't know like who would you know perform at the TP USA All-American halftime show next year? Because this was just out of like people didn't really like Bad Bunny or the fact that what that it was gonna be like a Spanish uh Spanish only um halftime show. But I mean like what what happens if you if we got like a K-pop group? Um it's not like we were gonna get like Rammstein. And for those that don't know Ramstein or Ramstein, I don't know how you say its name the band's name is a German metal band, and their songs are predominantly performed in German. Like the only song I knew is Du Haus, you know, Du Du Haus, Du Hausmisch, Du Hausmisch, Duhaus Mischifall, and then America. But I mean, like, not a lot of people know about Rammstein or Ramstein. I don't know how you say either or. But um again, an alright performance. Um, but who would you get? Because people, the only complaint people got is that like it's American, not Christian. You get what I mean? Like people thought there was gonna be Forrest Frank and uh Brandon Lake and uh Chris Tomlin, like some of those that performed at Kirk's funeral, um, that's what they thought that we were gonna get. And I would have been all on all for it. You get what I mean? Um, but no, I mean, if if y'all wanna make if they want to say like we could do that, then I would be fine with it, even though I'm actually not a big fan of uh Forrest Frank or Brandon Lake or Chris Tomlin. I mean, I listened to some CCCM CCM music, uh not conservative Christian, contemporary Christian music, just not all the time. Um I've I mean I've grown more to hymns a lot more in my life um than CCM or even gospel. I've gotten into a lot of Christian rock and Christian metal uh performance. Now if Skillet was at the TP, it was say all-American halftime show. I definitely would have blown off the big game halftime show just for that. The Apple Music it's I could call it the Apple Music Halftime Show, can I? We'll see what happens. I would have blown off the Apple Music halftime show if Skillet was gonna be there. But again, I don't know. Everything just varies. I would have been okay with if they get more country folks like Jason Aldean. Again, I'm I'm fine with Jason Aldean. I don't know if they would get Jelly Row, but if Jelly Row performs next year at the big game uh Apple Music halftime show, I would've been off I would be off for that. But I don't know. You get what I mean? It just varies because every year I feel like the the performances get like less and less uhwhelming. Under like it's beginning more and more underwhelming for me. Because I'm not a because like Kendrick Lamar was never a huge fan of him. The weekend, not a huge fan of him. You get what I mean? And I'm about to talk a lot more um later on. This is probably the only time I'm ever gonna mention like talk about or have a full episode of the halftime show because I can I could squeeze a lot more into this one than even more episodes, but maybe we'll see what happens next year. I know again the reason why I didn't do it um the previous episode is because I wanted to do a Valentine's Day episode, so I figured blow this one off and then you know blow this episode off to this coming week that I'm gonna be releasing this and have the Valentine's Day episode that week. And obviously, I didn't have one the previous week because of family stuff that I've already brought up so many times. Um, but yeah, so I'm gonna take a break right now and I'm just gonna give some thoughts on, you know, who would I want to perform? And I I kind of already mentioned it in the previous episode, but I'll say it again. And then what did I thought about any of the past performers? So um we're gonna take another break. Um yeah, so I'm just gonna f and it finish this off with like some past uh Super Bowls that um that I saw and how like how I've how I review them. So there's gonna I think this part if if I'm getting this on YouTube with a full video, uh even though it's I'm already four seasons in, I'm almost and I'm almost gonna be finished in I think April. They've yet to make a video or multiple videos on the YouTube, and I might do it on Patreon. But anyway, um I just want to give like a list of like um from the past uh halftime performances I've seen from 2010, which is with the who until now. But I do want to say like I do want there to be an all-metal, all rock halftime show. It's something we've all been asking. So I just wish for once the NFL just listened to the real fans and wants to see that. Like, yes, I want to see Metallica at the no at the big game halftime show. I want to see um Pearl Jam. Even though, yes, they're they're probably in the same line of like Bad Bunny and Green Day, but they but still I would like to see them perform. Lincoln Park, if Chester was still alive, I would love to have seen them perform at the halftime show. Food Fighters, definitely. So, you know what? What y'all did was 2022 getting like all these rappers like Eminem, 50 Cent, uh Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary Mary J. Blanch, who isn't a rapper, and then um Kendrick, do that, do like a an all rock and metal show, like have Metallica per like start off with like Seek and Destroy or um Sabba True, and then Lincoln Park takes or you know what be funny, or because that like Metallica starts off with like Sabba true or seek and destroy, and then they transition to having a monitor that has Cliff Burton performing a solo. It could be like pulling teeth. Um for those that don't know, Cliff Burton was the original bass, or not the original original bassist, but when Metallica started uh their debut album, um, Cliff Burton was there. So yeah, but anyway, uh Cliff Burton was the original bassist before he tragically passed in 1986. It could be that or his intro um to um For Whom the Bells Toe, and then like him, and then like what's the set what's the minor? Rob and then um Jason, Jason, who was one of their fame former basses, they all come up and they do the soul at the bass solo at the exact same time, or not bass solo, the bass intro. And then Lincoln Parker come in, starts performing in the end. And then I don't like um I have nothing against the new singer, she's just not Chester, but she's aware of that, so and I you know what if people are still fans of the of the band in the fans of I for I forgot the singer's name, and it's not like I don't care, I just haven't had the time to look it up. If they are a fan of her, that's that's alright. That's with that's them. Um, but I can't, it's just hard for me when it's not Chester. But to my point, like they can start off in the end, but rather than finishing off, they can get a video monitor having Chester perform or having like a video of Chester singing, like uh I put my trust in you from Indian, and then they could do like Lost or Numb, you know, you get what I mean? And then Foo Fighters comes in, and then also paying a tribute to their drummer, and then I it was sad that I say that and I forgot the drummer's name, so I do apologize, guys. Um, you know what? I don't want to mess this up. I I don't want to mess this up. It's Hawkins, right? Oh man, I hope I'm right. So give me a second. Taylor Hawkins, I knew I knew it was Hawkins. Do something like in a tribute to Taylor Hawkins, and then you know, Pearl Jam performs Even Flow, and then uh Eddie Vetter goes to um Hunger Strike. Well, because remember Eddie Vetter and Chris Carnell, and they could do a tribute to Chris Carnell as well. Uh, they were in a group together before Chris Carnell did Soundgarden and before Eddie Vetter did um uh Pearl Jam. And then it ends with uh Metallica doing Inter Salmon. That's a halftime show I would want to watch, but y'all don't freaking give it to us. So please give us that. Give us an all-metal and all rock halftime show. Metallica, Pearl Dram, Lincoln Park, Foo Fighters. Give us that. Alright, guess what? That's actually to give you more views because people actually listen to them more than they listen to Bad Bunny, and that's facts, okay? I'm not saying that like Ben Shapiro, like look up look up the amount of arenas like sold-out arenas each band gives, and then look up Bad Bunny, and you'll see I'm not wrong, okay? Because you they don't know they're public anymore. I'm technically not their public, I just like music, and I like that kind of music. But you gotta give us that one. Alright, so first of all, I'm gonna get some water and then I'm gonna give y'all something real uh make a list ranky real quick. So hold on. Alright, give me a second, folks. Alright, yeah, give me a second, folks. I'm gonna get some water. Alright, guys, so I got uh a tier ranking here from S to D, superior to D. Uh just because I don't want to do uh what is it? An uh what do you call it? I don't want to do um like an F, but I should put it up anyway. So these are um what is it? These are like uh the performances that I've seen since I actually started getting into it. So um, so we got from 2010 the Who, that's where I started, all the way to now. So alright, so we're starting off with 2010 with the Who performance. I'm actually gonna put that in A tier. Um, I'm not a big who fan. I I love Bubba O'Reilly, Who Are You? And that's actually my introduction to the to the band. So um A tier for me. Now we have give me a second, here it is, the Black Eyed Ps. Um, I actually don't remember too much. I do remember Slash showing up, but you know it black IPs. Ooh. You know what? They're good. I'm putting them in B tier. I actually do think the black eyed peas are a really cool band. Oh, they were a really cool group. I don't think Fergie's in the band anymore, as far as I'm concerned. Alright, so now we go to 2013. Yeah, 20. Was it 20? No, this is 20. That was 2011. 2012. I believe that was the year of Madonna. Alright, Madonna. A lot of satanic symbolism I saw here. I never used to be like this, but whatever. Um shoot. I'll I'll put D tier. Okay, I think uh the Madonna performance was alright. I I wasn't a big fan of it. I'm not a big fan of Madonna. Um CeeLo Green was the only cool thing, but it's like they had there was so much that happened. There was uh LMFAO that showed up with their what was it? It was like that that um one-hit wonder uh potty rock anthem. There was MIA and Nicki Minaj. Um won't get into that argument. And then I think MIA flicked the camera off and they had to blur that off. Um, which by the way, speaking of blurred off, I I didn't see the performance with uh Justin Timberlake and uh Janet Jackson with the wardrobe map function, but uh anyway. Okay, yeah, but anyway, C tier. It's an out I wasn't a big fan of this one. Beyonce. Uh forgive me, Justice, but I'm also putting that in C tier. Um, the only good thing that came out of that was the Destiny Child's um, what was it, uh reunion. I remember during that performance, I the I saw a lot of people putting the Illuminati sign. I'm not gonna do it, but I remember a lot of triangles being shown, and that just threw me off. Alright, Bruno Mars. Where should I put Bruno Mars in? You know what? Bruno Mars would be in B tier because he brought out the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don't have a hate for Bruno Mars at all. Um, I'm just not a big fan of him. The issue being is that I mean, I love that he brought out the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I think it should have been the other way around. I think the Red Hot should the Red Hot Chili Peppers should have been the performers and Bruno Mars as the second act. But what drew what actually angers me is that like you can see from John and Flea's guitars that they're not plugged in, and that's lets people know that what you're watching is all pre-recorded stuff. Okay. Katy Perry, you're going in D tier. I hated this performance. Moving on. Coplay. Don't hate me, guys. They're S tier. I love Coplay. My dad loves Coplay. Um, and like like I'll be honest with you guys. Yes, the performance, I mean the stage production was cool, it wasn't all that bad, but it was very subtle, very interesting, and I I really love that one. So I it's an S tier, guys. Lady Gaga, you are going in C tier. Not a big gaga person, guys. Not a big gaga person. Uh Justin Timberlake, you're also going in C tier. I don't remember that performance at all. That's that's what I say. And it's just like putting it in D tier just because I don't remember it. Um, I don't think it does justice. Maroon 5, where should I put you in? Maroon 5. Where should I put you in? Screw it, I'm putting you in D tier. Only because like you So here's a history of this. Okay, Maroon 5 was doing this the big game halftime show. But anyway, when Maroon 5 was announced as the halftime performer, um, I think this was still Pepsi, the uh creator of Spongebob, one of the creators of Spongebob, passed away, and people were wanting for um Maroon 5 to sing uh Sweet Victory, I think that's what the the song was called, which is what was used for the episode Bang Geeks. And there was that clip of like Bang Geeks, but the that no, it was I think it was Sickle Mole, which was oh man, Soulja Boy. I don't remember the the rappers, okay? But that really ticked off a lot of people. I like Maroon 5, but this performance, that that alone and the letdown is why I'm putting him in D well, I'm putting them in D tier. I mean, I still love Dis Love and Moves Light Jagger, but I don't know. The weekend. I'm not gonna lie though. The weekend's perfor I'm not a big fan of the weekend either. I mean, regard, I'm not a big fan, other than maybe the Who and Coplay, I'm not a big fan of everybody everybody else in this list. And I might update the list pretty soon. Um, maybe if I give each uh a rewatch, I could probably change it up a bit. So maybe, who knows? Maybe if I do this again next year, Maroon 5 might actually bump up a mutt one and I might change the the names. I like what Cody Leach does. Anyway, um Maruve, I mean not Maroon 5. Um, the weekend. You know what? I'm putting I'm putting the weekend in B tier. I think the stage production was cool, especially uh during the uh pandemic time. Um when people when you have all these dancers that shouldn't like be that close to each other. Um but yeah, you know what? I'll do it. Even though I just realized that this was the 2021 year. Whatever. Okay, um, so we have um alright, so we actually skipped this one, but um here is the Shakira and the uh JLo performance, and you are going in D tier. Yo, so okay, so a lot of the times, um wait, was it even this year? I think it was this year. Okay, so a little side note, this was also the same weekend as or the same day as the British Academy Film Award. Um, I'm not gonna lie, guys, I tuned out, I tuned out the performance and went straight to the British Academy Film Awards, and that was a better show than what I got. So I wasn't a huge fan of this, especially because it's like it felt like awkward. I think Pebble was originally supposed to be the performer. I think he was supposed to be performer and then was backed out. Then they got Shakira and J Lo. I mean, I like Shakira, she's alright. I mean, some of her songs are pretty cool. I've never really got into J Lo, but oh well. Alright, so you got the year of um, you got the year of uh the big rappers, the 2022 year, the uh Dr. Dre, MM, Snoop Dogg. Um you know what? Screw it. They're S-tier for me. I actually I like listening to those guys. I don't listen to them as I used to, but I actually like it more. It was it the stage productions and all that was not too shabby. It was just them with their music. I may I mean maybe Kendra Lamar has had some like performances. Hell, you know what? 50 Cent wrapping upside down, though of course that probably was lip singing, which the the show usually is. Um, I still give him credit because like I don't know how long he had to like stay there until they're like, all right, 50, you're on cue, and then just having to hang down there with all that blood just rushing to your face. I mean, this dude's what already in his 50s, and he's still like jacked and can still do that. Rihanna. It's funny, I'm not a big Rihanna guy either. I I I like I know I keep beating the dead horse here, but you guys are gonna be surprised A tier. Like that production, that stage production, even though I I'm not a big fan, that was pretty cool. I'm not gonna lie, the the the dancers and stuff like that, that was cool, and she was pregnant the entire time. So that was like a big surprise to me. So she could do all that and pregnant aggressive. She was probably not singing because of you know it was uh lift singing, you know, all this stuff is pre-recorded. Okay, Usher. Man, I don't know. Funny thing is that was the Usher one, I was because like the Rihanna one and the Usher one was like was a church I was at a church party when we were watching the the the performance. Um you know what I should also do like Who's Sing the Good National Anthem? And if I did that, Christina Aguilera would definitely be in DRF tier because she really messed that one up. But I remember that people we liked the Chris Stableton national anthem performance and the performance itself. And we were all surprised on how like during the performance he just like took his shirt, uh Usher took his shirt off and stuff like that. And we were all just like, oh, you know, and no, don't get me wrong, the 2022 year we also it was also a church group, but it was mainly guys, but um, but to my point, I'm having a difficulty because my nostalgia wants to put it in A tier, but like, oh man, yeah, I'm putting him in B tier. I think it's just cause you know what? Fuck it. Sorry. Now yeah, fuck it. We're we're we're putting him in A tier. Uh it's just nostalgia can't beat it, but uh yeah. Kendrick, Kendrick Lamar. Where should I put you, bud? Where should I put you? You know what? Kendrick, not not a big fan of you, like everybody else here. But your stage presence alone gives you puts you in B tier. Lastly, Bad Bunny. Bad bunny, I would put you in B tier. I truly would, but no, you know what? I it's not it's not right of me to put to dock him because of politics and stuff like that. But I mean, shit. I don't know. I feel like no matter where I put Bad Bunny, I'm gonna get crapped on. I'm gonna put him in C tier, but I'm gonna put him high in C tier. That doesn't make a difference. Um, but he's uh high in C tier. So that's my list in general. It'll probably change uh next if I do it next year, do this again next year. Uh same performers. Um, I might add a little bit more, to be honest with you guys. I I think I I think this is actually really cool. So I might actually do more, maybe more before um the Who. I'm only doing this based off of which performance I seen, you know, from 2010 all the way to now. And maybe if I rewatch the performances again, I can maybe change it up a bit. Maybe some might I can guarantee you if I if I watch them again and then I come back next year and I do this list, I can guarantee you the the list isn't gonna be the same. I can guarantee you that. That's if I want to do it again. Um so maybe next year I might add on the past performances from Michael Jackson to All the Way Now. And maybe I might actually do rankings of who sing the national anthem the best. Um but that yeah, that's uh that's the ranking I have for this uh for this tier list. So anyway, um that's all I have for you guys. Uh I mean, like I said, I don't really want to do this one, but you know what? I think I just have to get it out there. Um, but I get to but after this, I might get to actually do some stuff that I really do want to talk about. Um and I might do something different this year. Um, but who knows? I'm still I'm still aiming on ending it in April, ending it around a good Friday. But um who knows? Because I have to look at how much time I have until now, until April. I think, yeah.
