Living The Way of Mastery with Jason Amoroso
Lesson 14: The Only Obstruction is Fear
Lesson 14: The Wise Use of Time
Section 3: An Exercise to Develop your Awareness
Paragraphs: 18-20
What if the key to spiritual awakening lies in how we perceive and utilize time? In this episode, we explore the transformative journey of prioritizing spiritual alignment over worldly distractions. By immersing ourselves in seeking God's presence and surrendering our earthly attachments, we unveil the path to true inner freedom. The conversation delves into the crucial elements of humility, commitment, and being open to life's miracles, demonstrating how intellectualization and judgment can obstruct the flow of divine love. We guide you through recognizing and dismantling these barriers to foster a profound connection with the divine.
Fear is the invisible chain that binds us away from divine union and true fulfillment. We tackle the pervasive influence of fear, from procrastination and people-pleasing to self-judgment, and reveal how overcoming these blocks can lead to a more authentic and spiritually enriched life. Drawing inspiration from "The Little Soul and the Sun" by Neale Donald Walsch, we discuss the soul-stirring concept that those who wrong us are, paradoxically, our spiritual teachers. By embracing forgiveness and our Christ-like nature, we challenge societal norms and distortions in religious teachings, ultimately reconnecting with our true selves and the boundless love intended by divine unity.

Hello and welcome back to Living the Way of Mastery. I'm Jason Amoroso, your guide, friend and fellow student, and today we are picking up lesson 14, the wise use of time, section three, an exercise to develop your awareness. And we're picking up in paragraph 18, where Jeshua is continuing after saying Father, I want all of you. That is all I want. He says. The way of transformation is the willingness to use time differently. There must come a point in the journey of each individual in which the head bows and the thought emerges. I want only God and I no longer care what it takes. Now.
Speaker 1:This is such a beautiful prayer and I encourage you to take out your phone, open up your voice notes and record yourself reading this and listen to it throughout the day. Listen to it before you go to bed, Listen to it when you wake up. It'll take you 10 seconds. Write it down once a day, write it down twice a day. The more you immerse yourself in this energy, in this frequency of intention versus what we do, which is a lot of just distraction and noise and illusion and things that we think are important but really aren't, the more we're going to wake up.
Speaker 1:The way of transformation is just a willingness to use time differently instead of what we use it for, which, again, is to get lost in the illusion, is to try and get things we think we need that aren't real Meaning. When you're dead, nothing in time is going to mean anything to you. You will still exist. You will never cease to be, but everything you're striving so hard from a place of lack. Now you can create and show up and engage in life and work and put in the time to create beautiful things, and you're not coming from lack, and that's a totally different energy than if we're trying to get, we're trying to survive, we're trying to fill holes and emptiness that we feel is inside of us. That's a totally different way of living than coming from wholeness and being fully engaged. I mean, even Jeshua says the more that you awaken and the more you surrender, actually the more busy you get, in a way, because life is wanting more of the power that's flowing through you, the willingness to use time differently.
Speaker 1:And there must come a point in the journey of every single individual where humility comes into play and you say to yourself all I want is God. God is my number one, above my family, above my relationship, above my kids above my work, above anything else, my physical health. All I want is you, god. I don't care what it's going to take. I don't care what I might lose, because I know whatever I lose of the world is temporary anyway. And the more that I'm detached and willing to lose things, it doesn't mean I desire to lose them. But the more I'm willing to, the more I realize I am okay, no matter what is happening in the external world. The freer I am, I'm free, so I no longer care what it takes, because all I want is God. I don't care how long it takes, I'm going to keep showing up and doing the work. That is my sacrifice, meaning making sacred. That is my commitment to show up and to be vigilant and to have my desire and focus my attention on my desire for only God.
Speaker 1:The keys to the kingdom. Lesson five, lesson five and I submit, I surrender to submit. When you're, when you're, I think of like wrestling, like, say, uncle, say submit. It's like giving yourself up, giving yourself over to I submit, I give myself over to the mysterious force that is life with a capital L, this existence. Do we ever stop to just be present and aware that you exist, I exist that there's this incredible thing called life. That's happening. We try and control it, we try and manage it, we try and use it, but it's just happening.
Speaker 1:And, honestly, we're along for the ride. We have the privilege and the honor of being awake and slowing down and paying attention to all these miracles that we just take for granted the grass growing, the sun shining, love between friends or family. The heart beats without you having to do anything, it just beats. You breathe without having to earn it. There's miracles everywhere. Food, food is in the natural world, everywhere, on trees, some animals, whatever your thing is, there's food, there's sustenance everywhere. It just grows. It's a miracle. Do we stop and slow down and participate in the miracle, or are we head down, phones up, survival mode, busyness, distraction?
Speaker 1:All I ask is to be transformed into the perfect awareness through which love flows without obstruction. And I'm waking up to the truth that if I'm not feeling love flowing through me, it's not God's withholding love, it's not love withholding itself, waiting for me to prove my worthiness or waiting for me to get the right dial and the combination to open it up and let the floodgates through. No, it's me. It's some part of my consciousness that is blocking the flow. My channel, the conduit that is me, is limited and it's because of judgment, as Jeshua says, in the Way of Mastery. This judgment, this wrong-making, this thinking, we know what things are. That's why this exercise in this lesson is so powerful. It unravels that I really don't know what anything is or is, for. If I'm really honest and I don't have to know intellectually, it's like when I'm in my heart, there's like a trust and a faith and a relaxation. I don't need to intellectually comprehend it, it just feels right. This is what's waiting for us.
Speaker 1:Jeshua continues. What you will discover in the end is that the only obstruction is fear and some expression of fear. Each time you begin to set aside fear and choose to bless the world from the perfect holiness of your union with God, each time you dare, in italics, each time you dare to be so arrogant in the eyes of the world as to be the presence of Christ, each time you relax the mind and the body and recognize of myself I do nothing, something is living me and it is to that which I surrender. Each time you do this, you will cultivate a way of being in the world that is not here, that is, it is not within the perceptual mode that makes up the world, which is other, which is separation, which is reacting to the external. This is such a powerful paragraph. There's so much in here if we just slow down and look. What you will discover when you say, all I want is God and I don't care what it takes. What you will discover when you make that level of commitment, which for some of us can take lifetimes or decades to finally see that everything we've ever gotten from the world has never fulfilled us. Nothing, it can't come from the world.
Speaker 1:We've all wanted more money at some point and we've gotten it, and we were happy for a moment or for a little bit, but eventually we're on to the next thing. We all wanted love from some person and at some point we got it in some form and it felt amazing. And then it disappears because we're getting what we think we lack, like we've all tried to get the job. We've all tried to get the job. We've all tried to get the car, the house, or we've tried to get the body. You know, you don't many people have every material thing in the world. They've got the money, they've got the fame, they've got the followers. They've got the six-pack, they've, they've lived to 90 years old or whatever it is, and they're not happy. They've done all the, all the quote, unquote, right things that the world has told them that if you do this then you're going to be happy or at peace or fulfilled or feel on purpose. And they're not. The world is littered with people like that, no-transcript. So this is our work to raise our awareness, to become aware of where we're in fear.
Speaker 1:And fear can be so subtle. It can show up in resistance. It can show up in procrastination. It can show up in traumatic responses. It can show up in getting triggered and judging someone. It can show up in any. It has no limit to the way and the form. It can show up, but the content is fear. It can show up in your boss. It could show up in your kid. It could show up in your spouse. It could show up in you looking in the mirror. It could show up in a newspaper headline. It could show up in the barista at Starbucks. It could show up in your accountant, it doesn't matter. Fear can show up anywhere. Fear can show up anywhere. That's the only obstruction to love flowing through you.
Speaker 1:So let us become aware of all the places that we're in fear, in judgment, in lack, not feeling worthy, feeling like an imposter trying to make other people happy, people pleasing that's another form of fear. And each time you begin to set aside fear, and each time you begin to set aside fear so it doesn't mean you deny it, it doesn't mean you resist it you acknowledge oh, there's something here, there's some fear in here, and you can get curious about it. Let me close my eyes, let me meditate, let me feel it. Where is it in my body? What is it? What is it revealing to me? Oh, and this?
Speaker 1:People pleasing and not saying I don't want to go to church on Christmas Eve, because church doesn't really do it for me anymore. On Christmas Eve and I don't go 363 days out of the year I don't go to church. And all of a sudden, it means something. If I go on Easter and Christmas, maybe it doesn't for you anymore. And so, instead of making my parents happy or making society happy or assuaging some old voice in my head that makes me feel guilty, I'm going to say no to go in a church on Christmas Eve, if that's my thing, you know. I'm just saying it's like that could be one example of people pleasing oh, I got to go to the family Thanksgiving because everybody goes, and if I don't, I'm going to deal with a whole bunch of grief from my parents and everybody's going to ask why I'm not there.
Speaker 1:I just don't like those people. I don't want to be around those people. All they do is they're negative and they bicker and they argue and they complain and they tear each other down. Again, I'm just making up examples. Fortunately, I love my family and love being around them. But if you don't or there's a time where you don't the people pleasing to not honor our truth is just out of fear. Maybe they'll withhold love from me. Maybe they'll expose that I'm really being high and mighty and pious, I'm the spiritual person. I'm not going to church. I don't need that. Just get curious about what's underneath that, procrastination, for example.
Speaker 1:Well, I'm afraid that if I put my project out, this thing that I'm like, feel so in my heart, alive about, but if I really put it out there, people won't. They'll either hate it, they'll reject it or maybe, even worse, they won't even care. It'll get crickets. No one cares about my offering, my next coaching program, so crap. I mean, I get inspired and excited, but I don't want to put it out there for the world to see, because what if no one likes it at all? Or what if they don't even pay attention to it? Then what does that mean about me? I'm afraid. I don't want to feel that Everything is fear. I'm afraid if Kamala Harris gets elected, or Donald Trump gets elected, or you know, I'm afraid of World War Three.
Speaker 1:I'm just living in fear and then the love can't flow through. Your pipes are clogged with fear, whatever version of it is. We all have our own, both kind of global and our own very local. I'm afraid of my own body. I'm afraid of health diagnosis. I'm afraid that I might have cancer. I'm afraid that something's wrong with me. I'm afraid that I'm going to die young, I that I might have cancer. I'm afraid that something's wrong with me. I'm afraid that I'm going to die young. I'm afraid that I'm going to die alone and love can't flow through in the way that it wants to through you.
Speaker 1:So it's just noticing with innocence, not self-judgment, but with because that just clogs up the pipes even more Noticing all of this fear, all of these judgments, all of these things that constrict and you can feel it in the body. You can feel the constriction if you slow down enough. Most people don't want to feel so they'll drink, they'll stay busy, they'll get lost in video games or shopping or gossip or porn or eating or whatever version of their thing is to distract themselves from not feeling. Each time you begin to set aside fear so you can acknowledge it's there and show up and do the thing anyway, and say the thing anyway and be bold and courageous. You know, courage is like a level above fearlessness, not meaning, like it's more of a surface. Courage implies cur means from the heart. So courage implies that we do have fear, but courage and bravery is doing the thing anyway in spite of our fear.
Speaker 1:And in some ways you could say fear is an amazing friend of ours because it becomes then a vehicle and a tool for us in which to expand and be courageous and be brave. If we don't have fear, you're not courageous. If you're not afraid of something, you do it anyway, that's not courageous, that's not brave. No, when you have seeming something to lose and you do it anyway, that's bravery. People that speak up and they have their careers ruined or that might be ruined, that's bravery, that's courage. Now, as we do this work, we we see through all the fear, and then we do become fearless, like jeshua. Fearless, fearless. There's nothing to fear. It's the first line in a course of miracles. Nothing real can be threatened. So what is there to be afraid of? And nothing unreal exists. Therein lies the peace of God. So how is there any room for fear there? But while we have fear, let us be brave, let us be courageous, let us be bold Each time you begin to set aside fear and choose to bless the world from the perfect holiness of your union with God.
Speaker 1:It is a choice to bless the world in spite of or despite what you see on the surface. Your brain might be saying the world is burning, the world's falling apart. Look what those people are doing. They're atrocities against other people. Look at all this abuse. Look at all this poverty. Look at all this. What's wrong with the world? Oh my God, aren't you paying attention? Not paying attention, you're not offended if you're not angry. You're not paying attention. How is this possible? Look at, I can't believe my, my mother did this. I can't believe my best friend did this to me. I can't believe my spouse is cheating on me. That's a very extreme examples, I know, but it's like I can't believe all this stuff is happening. Amidst all of that, I can't believe I'm doing this or not doing this thing. What's wrong with me? And we beat ourselves up.
Speaker 1:Amidst all of that, can we choose to bless the world and bless ourselves from the perfect holiness of our union with God, and so we can say to ourselves I know my brain is seeing one thing. I know it's screaming at me that life's not fair, but I'm so committed to my heart, I'm so committed to experiencing life another way, outside of this limited, loud voice of life is unfair. I'm so committed to living a different way and really seeing something different. I'm going to bless this situation, knowing that God is all there is, that life is just wanting to express and it's me that's not seeing rightly. It's not the situation that's wrong, it's some way that I'm perceiving it that's creating this feeling of limitation and fear inside of me. I'm going to recognize that, even if I don't know how to get rid of it, and I'm going to just, with my heart, bless the situation. I don't know that's humility, I don't know, but I'm blessing it. I'm blessing you, person who seems to be doing something bad in the world. I'm blessing you because I actually don't know what a single thing is or is for. I don't know if what you're doing right now is actually it seems very harmful to someone else, but how do? Maybe it's exactly what that other soul that you're doing the thing to needs for their own awakening. Who am I to judge? I do not know, but we are so quick to judge. We have no idea about soul contracts and karma and these other things that, like two people may have.
Speaker 1:Again, the Little Soul in the Sun by Neil Donald Walsh, this beautiful book about a little soul, this light, who wants to experience more of its light and wants to deepen and experience what forgiveness is and embody it. So of course it needs it comes into earth, earth school to experience forgiveness. But what do you need for forgiveness? You need something to forgive, someone to forgive. So another light is like I'll be that person for you, I'll play that role. For you to do something so bad that you feel like you need to forgive, I'll play that person for you. I'll play that role. For you to do something so bad that you feel like you need to forgive, I'll play that role for you. But I got to dim my light. I got to forget who I am, which is the light. I got to forget who I am to do that horrible thing to you Otherwise I wouldn't do it.
Speaker 1:But if it's going to help you learn that lesson even deeperer whoever that is, somebody who abused you, somebody who didn't care for you, somebody who backstabbed you, somebody who abandoned you, somebody who's bullied you whatever it is and our ego does not like this let's just acknowledge it. That person is your angel. That person is playing a role for you that you have asked them to play so that you may experience more love flowing through you. The ego hates it. Let's just acknowledge that and the heart is like amen. You're finally speaking truth. Can I love my brother that's been doing this bad thing to me quote unquote bad thing that I've wanted them to do so that I may learn and grow and deepen more of the light that I am and let more love flow through me.
Speaker 1:Do I want to be right in my ego or do I want to be at peace and happy and in gratitude, so blessing the world from perfect holiness of your union with God? You know you are one with God. God is, and each time you dare to be so arrogant in the eyes of the world to be the presence of Christ, dare it. Dare to be so arrogant. The world will call you arrogant. Who are you to think that you're holy? Who are you to call yourself the Christ? That's blasphemous. Even though the Jeshua said in the Bible which I'm not saying is the complete authority by any means but even though he said these things and more ye shall do, and that we are brothers and sisters in Christ, people will still say that's arrogant, that's blasphemous. For you to try and be like Jesus. No, he was the son of God and he's coming to save you. You need saving because you're a sinner, there's something wrong with you. So he came to save you. And I say baloney to that. That just never really made sense to me.
Speaker 1:And this teaching of the way of mastery from Jeshua and even if it's not from Jeshua, even if it's not oh my God, it's not Jesus, well, this is the most pure, holiest teaching that I've ever read. Not Jesus, this is the most pure, holiest teaching that I've ever read and it's consistent with the other pure, holy teachings that I've read, from A Course in Miracles, to some of the other traditions and scriptures and texts that are out there in the world and spiritual teachers. I haven't read them all, but this is as pure and as empowering as anything else I've ever seen or come across. So it doesn't matter who the messenger is. That's the whole point actually of Jesus. It doesn't matter what my. Don't worship me. I'm just showing you the way. Worship the way, worship God, worship yourself, the holiness in yourself, don't worship me.
Speaker 1:So the funny thing, the true thing, is that if Jeshua was actually in a body today, he'd be like you go for it, claim that you're the Christ. I want you to, because that's who you are. You're not claiming anything. That's not true. So, but his quote unquote followers now have been. So I don't know what the right word I want to say is. Like the teachings have been distorted and more of the teachings have been used to control people. Honestly, I mean, that's what. Keeping people in guilt and shame is just used to control, to manipulate. But if he were in a body today, on social media, he would say hey, be who you are, claim who you are, own who you are. That's what these teachings are saying.
Speaker 1:Don't worship the messenger, worship the message, so dare to be so arrogant in the eyes of the world as to be the presence of Christ. Each time you relax the mind and the body and recognize and this is how you dare to be the presence of Christ you recognize, but you slow down and you recognize of myself I can do nothing, truly. Everything I've tried to do doesn't work out. But when I surrender, when I open my heart, when I listen, when I stop efforting so hard and I open up to this flow, this presence, this love, this life force, things happen and that's the added fruit. Things happen and that's the added fruit because I'm in bliss either way, I'm at peace. Either way Of myself, I do nothing. Something is living me, something's living me, and it's to that presence, that love, that life force which I surrender, which I trust implicitly, which I'm so grateful and humbled grateful for, humbled by and you will cultivate a way of being in the world that is not here being in the world, but not of the world.
Speaker 1:The world is about external. The world is about responding to the external. The world is about lack and loss and limitation and separation and scarcity and not enoughness. It's about missing. Don't you see that If you're separate from God, you're always missing something that you need to get to be more whole. So being in the world, fully aware of who you are and your not just connection to the divine, but sustenance, sustainability, that the divine source is living your life. So why would the divine abandon or neglect itself? So you're going to be okay, you are okay. You can let go of the efforting and the striving and the trying to force to get what you think you lack, that is, it is not within the perceptual mode that makes up the world.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, Jeshua says you will be different. You will look the same, but you will not be the quote you that the world has known. You will speak as you have always spoken. You will look the same, but you will not be the quote you that the world has known. You will speak as you have always spoken. You will know your social security number. However, there will be a definite sense that you live, yet not you, but that one in capitals. That one is living you, I mean.
Speaker 1:I think we all want that. I want that. I think this is why we're studying the way of mastery. This is why this work sings in our heart. It's truth. It's freedom, it's waking up to reality. We've been just shoveling into our consciousness so much illusion. It is like the matrix. The matrix is fake. I don't want any more fakeness. I don't want any illusion. I want reality, I want truth. You will be different.
Speaker 1:This is why a lot of people, as they start on their spiritual, as they start to awaken spiritually, sometimes there's a rift between themselves and the people close to them Family members, spouses, unfortunately, longtime friends because you know you're waking up and you're seeing things they're not seeing and you're wanting things that they're not wanting and they may not be ready. Obviously, if they're not, if they're not open, then they're not ready and and it can be it could create that rift. So instead of judging them and then they judging you, and it becomes as oh well, you're unconscious and I'm more spiritual and all that, just having compassion for their journey and being patient. All the curriculum is required by everybody. It's a different path and people take it at different times, but it's a required curriculum, says A Course in Miracles, and I would say the same thing as the way of mastery. And if you're triggered by the people in your life that aren't interested in waking up spiritually, if you're triggered by that, there's something inside of you that's looking for healing. That's another lesson, another gift from spirit for you to resolve and bring healing to and acceptance to.
Speaker 1:So, but you will be different. That's risky and very scary to the ego. It triggers that fear of rejection. It triggers that fear of getting kicked out of the tribe. You know, thousands and thousands of years ago, if you got kicked out of the tribe, that was like a death sentence. So you wanted to do whatever you need to do to fit in, to belong, to stay in the safety of the tribe. And that's that's almost hardwired in us, in the body, in the physical body. But it's not, but it feels like it.
Speaker 1:So there's a, there's a, there's a desire to conform, and that's why it takes so much courage to do this work, because you will be different, but you'll look the same. You're not going to lose yourself. You'll look the same. You'll look the same. You're not going to lose yourself. You'll look the same. You'll be the same, you that everyone else will see you. And oh, there's Jason. He looks the way that he always has.
Speaker 1:Whatever it is like there, they're not going to be able to see, on the surface, any change in you, but you will be different and you'll show up differently in the words. You you'll still speak English or whatever language you speak, but the words, the quality of your words, will be different. What's important to you, what you speak about, will be different. Again, not holier than thou, you still be a human. Have the human experience. It's why you came to have the human experience. Have the adventure. You know participate fully in the human adventure, but you're awake while doing it. That that's the difference and you'll know, you'll have a sense, you'll just know that there's something really living. You and you're along for the ride and that's amazing. It takes all the pressure off and then you can just enjoy being alive instead of trying to be alive and survive. This is what we're being invited into. Love it, I love it and I love being on this journey with you. I got fired up today. Thanks for listening. Thanks for listening being a part of this community. Join our Facebook group.
