Lesson 14: The Wise Use of Time
Section 3: An Exercise to Develop your Awareness
Paragraphs: 21-22

What if recognizing your divine essence could completely transform your reality? Journey with us as we explore the profound teachings of Jeshua, delving into the nature of self-awareness and consciousness. We'll reflect on how embracing our true essence as pure consciousness and divine love enables us to choose where we place our focus and reframe our subconscious beliefs. Through practical methods like meditation, learn to cultivate self-awareness and appreciate your daily life as a sacred space, enriching your experience regardless of external circumstances.

Discover how intentional mental and emotional habits can shape your reality by being selective about the information you consume. We discuss the power of reprogramming your mind, releasing fears and judgments, and living with the understanding of your eternal nature. This episode also dives into the paradox of living fully within the context of our finite and infinite existence.

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back to the Living the Way of Mastery podcast. I'm Jason Amoroso, your guide and friend and fellow student. And today we continue with Lesson 14, the Wise Use of Time, section 3, an Exercise to Develop your Self-Awareness. And we're coming down the home stretch here and we'll pick up where we left off in Paragraph 21, where Jeshua says In paragraph 21, where Jeshua says it is sacred, you will know that it is beautiful. You will know that right now, wherever you are in this moment, you, in italics you are the embodiment and the expression of mystery, love forever extending itself. You are the very joy of God. Maybe that'll be the title for our this episode. You are the very joy of God. I mean, imagine if you woke up every day and looked in the mirror and said and felt, and believed and went about your day I am the very joy of God. It doesn't always feel like that. Actually, most of the times, right, doesn't feel like that at all that I am the joy of God. It doesn't always feel like that. Actually, most of the times, it probably doesn't feel like that at all that I am the joy of God. Why doesn't it feel that way? Well, that's because we're listening to the wrong voice. We're listening to a different voice. We're pretending to be who we're not. We've bought into and believing all of these lies about ourselves and believing all of these lies about ourselves.

Speaker 1:

But anyway, let's go back to the beginning of this paragraph. Somehow, inextricably, unexplainably, you are being allowed to be the field of awareness that gets to witness life living as you. Life is living you. You think you're living life. No, life is living as you, and I love this. I had to actually look up the word inextricably and it means in a way that is impossible to disentangle or separate. You can't separate yourself from life. It is your very essence. The mere fact, the simple fact that you can have an awareness that I am, that I exist, is the fact that you are worthy, is the fact that you are life, that you are God, life, the universe source, expressing itself in this unique wave that you call yourself. But it's a part of the whole thing. The wave might say look, I'm a wave, but it's still a part of the ocean, and when you take away the labels, it's all one thing expressing itself and it's unexplainably. Yeshua says don't even try to explain it, don't bother trying to understand it intellectually. Your brain can't comprehend it. The ego, by definition, can't comprehend more than it is. It can't comprehend something that's outside of its capacity to understand. And this is such a curious phrasing.

Speaker 1:

You are being allowed, it's like you're almost being given permission. You're being granted this gift from source. You're being allowed to be the field of awareness that gets to witness life, living as you. Not a personality, you're not your thinking, you are pure consciousness, the awareness. That's what you are the power to choose where you focus your awareness. And then you experience that You're being allowed to be the field of awareness. You are a field of awareness. This is why meditation is so powerful. It reconnects us, it reminds us that we are this field of awareness. We think we're the doer, we think we're the things that we're thinking of or that are happening to us. You are the awareness of these things. You are a field of awareness. You are the witness of all of these things, of life living you, of life living you.

Speaker 1:

And do we spend time cultivating the garden of our awareness or do we get lost in the busy, lost in the phones, lost in the to-do list? Right, and the phones are just an extension of a distracted consciousness. They're not the cause, they're the effect. They're not the cause, they're the effect. Everything is effect of our consciousness, where we choose to reside, the perspective we choose to hold, the voice we choose to listen to. You are never a victim to anything in your life. You are literally the creator of all that you experience by your choice. Now, most of this is subconscious, it's below our consciousness. That's why we bring the light of awareness to it. See the effect. It is having the experience we're having and innocently, not self-judgmentally innocently asking ourselves do I want to continue this experience? And then we get to choose consciously, not from conditioning and programming, and we're never at the mercy of any force or factor, not karma, not anything.

Speaker 1:

You will know as you reside in this state more and more and again, you've got to practice it. You've got to make the time and really you make time for things you think are important. So creating the importance of this instead of just doing it when you feel like it, or it will happen at some point, but do you want it to happen in a long time or do you want to be in the heaven and in the kingdom right now? You'll know that it is sacred. You don't have to think. You don't have to wonder. You'll know that it is pure, that it is true, that you are pure and true. You'll know that it is beautiful. You'll know that right now, wherever you are in this moment in your life, your daily life is your ashram. Wherever you are in this moment, you are the embodiment and the expression of mystery, love forever extending itself.

Speaker 1:

Now our ego brain thinks of our circumstance. Well, I'm broke, I'm in debt, I'm in the process of getting a divorce. I'm working and practicing for my next marathon, I'm trying to stay healthy and fit. I'm trying to raise good kids. I'm trying to make more money. I'm worried about the state of the world. We look at our circumstances. My hot water heater is broken. I got to get that fixed and I got this big laundry list of to-dos to get done and it never gets done. It never, ever gets done. You just add more things to the to-do list.

Speaker 1:

But in this moment, all events are neutral. While all these things are happening, you are still and always will be the embodiment and the expression of mystery, of mystery not old band, sky Daddy, santa Claus that most of us have been raised to think about. God, if I'm good, I get rewarded. If I'm bad, I get punished. That's across many religions, right? It's so much bigger than that. That's creating God in our image, in the ego's image, not us coming to the divine humble saying I don't know what anything is or is, for I really don't. This is how we develop our awareness that right now, wherever I am in this moment with that, whatever I'm going through, whatever challenge, whatever hardship whatever, when I'm experiencing whatever's happening, all things in time are temporary. But you, I, the I am, are the embodiment, the wave and the expression of mystery. Can we just celebrate that Love forever extending itself as in and through what you call you? But it's just love.

Speaker 1:

When you say my finger, you don't kind of look at it as this separate thing, but it's just a name, a label we've given to finger, but we still consider it a part of us. It's not separate from us, but we give it a name, finger, but it's still part of us, same as the wave in the ocean and same as you and God. It's still all God, it's still all of the divine substance. It's still one thing. Can you start to see that in your life, the way that the brain tries to compartmentalize and separate things in our life. But if we're really honest, I do not know what a single thing is or is for.

Speaker 1:

And the exercise we're being given in this lesson to look at something and say I don't know what this thing is, I don't know where did the atoms and the molecules come from? What minds and thoughts had to come together to bring this into form? We have no idea. We're being invited into mystery. It's just all life expressing and a part of us thinks we need to label it and know it and name it to be safe. That is a misunderstanding. You exist, you're safe to this form, this one expression, this physical body.

Speaker 1:

I need to survive as long as I can because if this body dies, I don't know what's going on. I don't know what's going to happen to me. I'm going to go into a nothingness. The screen's blank, that's it Game over. Or I'm going to hell. It's either nothingness or it's bad, but it's unknown and I don't know and I don't want to risk it. Right, that's where so many of us are living. We don't even realize it.

Speaker 1:

At the very least, you might as well fantasize and dream and say I'm going to heaven. It's going to be amazing when I die. So I'm not afraid of dying. It's just the next thing, at the very least you might. You know it's like in our waking dream. You know. So many of us are just focusing on the negative, what could go wrong? We don't want it to go wrong, we're just harping. That's why we're all anxious and afraid.

Speaker 1:

And, as my teacher at the University of Santa Monica, ron Hunlick, would say, you might as well win in your own fantasy. If you're going to make up a story about things, you might as well say I'm going to win in my fantasy. What happens if all these things go right and this and this feels amazing and all the things that I want come true? Instead, we just focus on all the things that we don't want. You might as well win in your own fantasy if you're going to play that game. And then, beyond that game, there's just an isness, there's just a presence, there's a stillness, there's a listening, there's a humility, there's a.

Speaker 1:

You know we all say we want to go. You know, go with the flow, go with the flow. We want to just be in the flow. But but we want that. A part of us wants that, because we're tired of trying to manage the mystery. We're tired of trying to control everything. It takes so much energy physically, mentally, emotionally to be the puppet master of our life and try and get all of our needs met, and then I gotta control other people which I know I can't really and which I know I can't really, and circumstances which I know I can't really, and I have a hard time even controlling myself. We've spent so much energy but I want to go with the flow, but I don't want to give up control. It's like you want your cake and eat it too.

Speaker 1:

You want to go with the flow and control everything at the same time, but we don't see it. We don't see how we're doing this to ourselves, because we're so in it. We're so in our brain, our thinking, our ego, our fear. That's why these practices are the pathway to freedom. They are the way of mastery. You are the very joy of God. Wake up every day, look in your mirror, put on your favorite song, dance around and say I am the very joy of God. I am God expressing itself as me.

Speaker 1:

It doesn't matter if anybody else gets me. It doesn't matter if anybody else understands me. It doesn't matter if anybody else approves of me. I have to be what I am. Otherwise I suffer.

Speaker 1:

When we are not authentic and we spend so much energy and effort putting on a mask, trying to conform or fit in or not stand out, we suffer, and other people everyone's trying to do that for themselves. We don't realize how little anyone's really actually thinking of us. We're all in our own head. We're all obsessed and consumed with ourself. What's wrong with me? How do I be better? How can I be more accepted? We're all so self-absorbed but yet at the same time we're afraid everybody else is thinking about us when they're in their own head. We're being given away out of the cage we've put ourself in.

Speaker 1:

Jeshua continues and you will continue to be so throughout all of existence, and you will continue to be so throughout all of existence. There will never be a time when you will cease to be. But by choosing to surrender defense of the perceptions you have come to identify as you, by choosing to release the grip on the fears you believe are justified and the judgments that you believe are true, as you surrender your grip on the world you have made, creation will flow through you, and then he has a prayer Of myself. I do nothing, I merely witness the flow of love through me. I use time wisely to cultivate perfect remembrance of the real world. Time and space do not imprison me. This body is not me. I use it as a tool to fashion and shape that which, in this world, can extend love into any moment. A beautiful prayer, again.

Speaker 1:

With any of these prayers, record yourself. If you really feel extra inspired by one of these prayers, write it down once a day for a week. Record yourself reading it and listen to it often in the car, in the morning, when you're making breakfast, when you're brushing your teeth, at night, getting ready for bed. Listen to it. How long does it take you to read that 20 seconds? How long does it take you to read that 20 seconds?

Speaker 1:

We need to start brainwashing ourselves. We need to start reprogramming our mind with this kind of stuff and not the mindless, opinionated crap on social media and the news, just absorbing all these. I'm not even going to say like low vibration, but just all these different vibrations. We need to be very intentional about what we allow in what we're consuming into our consciousness. We don't need to be, but if you want what gesture was offering, then that's what is required, right? You can't eat a bunch of junk food and expect to be in good health. You can't consume a bunch of junk food, entertainment and opinions and crap in the world and expect to be of good consciousness, of good self-awareness.

Speaker 1:

So Jeshua is saying you are love, forever extending itself, but you will be aware that you are and you're the very joy of God. Hallelujah. Celebrate your life and you will continue to be so throughout all existence. You never cease to be this, even if you don't feel like it, even if you can't see it right now. That's hallelujah for that, because if we could only experience what we could see in this thinking mind, we're screwed. So, thank God, jeshua can see us and know us for who we really are, even when we can't. Hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

Come back to that truth all the time when you're feeling, you know, depressed or sad or hopeless or angry or whatever. You know you're feeling like a victim to the world or your past or your station in life or whatever be like. Even though I can't see it, thank god jeshua knows who I am and loves me unconditionally, doesn't care if I'm rich or poor. He doesn't care if I'm in shape or I'm not in shape. He doesn't care if I'm a good person or a bad person. He just loves me regardless. God loves regardless. We're the ones, by the way, judging good or bad. So there will never be a time where you will cease to be.

Speaker 1:

So let's get on with living. Yes, you could live like YOLO. Right that phrase, yolo. You only live once. You could live like that and that can be very inspiring to people. You only live once. So what are you going to make of this life? Don't live in fear. Take the risk. Say I love you, do the thing, follow your dreams. You only live once. That is definitely a way to live. But what if the inverse was true? Also, you are always alive, no matter what. So why delay? You can delay as long as you want you have, but why delay If you're going to live forever? Let's explore, let's experiment, let's be alive. Who cares if you make mistakes? You're going to live forever. You're going to make a billion mistakes, doesn't matter. You're living forever. You're loved forever. So they both work to inspire us back into and remind us back into who we really are and want to be.

Speaker 1:

And Jesher says but by choosing to surrender defense of the perceptions you have come to identify as you. So you're not surrendering the perceptions of yourself that you identify with a separate body, lack not enough unworthiness. You're not surrendering the perceptions, You're surrendering your defense of that, our insistence that we're so right that this is who we are. And he says, by choosing to release the grip on the fears you believe are justified. Ask yourself that question what fears I'm afraid of things? What do I feel like? Are they're justifiable? Well, it's justified that I'm afraid of the economy. I need money to survive. It's justified that I'm afraid of, you know, world war iii breaking out. We want to perpetuate the race and not want to nucleate, nuke ourselves. I'm justified in, you know, my fear that my partner doesn't really love me or that you know my parents are getting old, they're going to die. I'm a. I'm justified in my fear of my own death.

Speaker 1:

Right, we're choosing to release the grip On the fears that you believe. It's the grip that we're, that that is our, our turning point of freedom the grip on them. Can we loosen that grip just a little bit? Can I have a little humility and like I don't really know if this is a bad thing? I think it is, but what if it's not so bad as I think it is?

Speaker 1:

The judgments that you believe are true. Write them down. What are the judgments that you believe to be true? I'm right, I know this is wrong. Can I release the grip on that? And that's that can be so threatening to the ego. Well, if there's no right and wrong, then you know how you know. No one's going to do the right thing. It's going to be chaos, is it? What if it wasn't so? It's the work of Byron Katie. What if that's not true? What if what you believe and invest in so much isn't the only truth, the only perspective? And you could start to see that you could really create an infinite number of perspectives, and you will experience the quality of the perspective as you surrender your grip on the world you have made, again taking ownership. I've made not the world, like, oh, I've made the world. I've made all the chairs, I've made all the cars. I've made the political systems. I've made the banks. I've made the education. I've made all the systems. I've made the banks. I've made, you know, the education. I've made all the systems. I've made all the things.

Speaker 1:

No, the world that you have made, that you live in, we're like a fish in water. I was listening to a podcast and they were telling the story of an old fish and he swims by two younger fish and he says, hey, buddies, hey, dudes has the water. Swims by two younger fish and he says, hey, buddies, hey, dudes has the water. And they look at them like as the old fish swims by and the two younger fish look at each other and say, water, what's water? That's how. That's how we are in our life. We don't even realize that we're the fish in water. We don't realize that we are swimming immersed in our own creation. We think it's just happening. It's things happening, we're just dealing with them and we get to make some choices along the way that influence our experience. But life is just happening and I got to deal with it and adjust and cope.

Speaker 1:

You, the world that you experience, is the world that you have created. When you start to shift your perspective, when you start to see that you've created it, own that you've created it, be humble enough to be open at least to the idea that you've created, be willing to be open to the idea that you have created your world, and then, innocently, with a self self-love, ask do what if there was a different way? And you start to see new perspectives that you could choose, and then your world start the way you see. The world starts to change. The world starts to change for you because the world is just a projection, like a movie. It's a, it's the movie screen of what's in the projector and you are the projector. You will experience what you've chosen to see.

Speaker 1:

Now again, that choice so often is subconscious, it's below our consciousness. That's why we bring it to light. And as we bring our consciousness to light and make intentional choices, conscious choices of what we want to see, then the screen, the movie screen, changes. And all of a sudden we leave old people behind in our life and we have new people come into our world. Or all of a sudden we see people who we've judged so harshly as innocent and we experience them in a different way. Meanwhile they're the same person. They've been always the whole time. So the world seems to change, but it's only because our perspective has changed.

Speaker 1:

And as you do these things, as you choose to surrender the defense of the perceptions that you've come to identify as you, when you choose to release the defense of the perceptions that you've come to identify as you, when you choose to release the grip on the fears you believe are justified and the judgments that you are so right are true. As you surrender your grip on the world that you've made, creation will flow through you. That's when you go with the flow. It will flow through you. You will be a channel, a conduit for life, with a capital L to flow through you. And it doesn't matter if anybody else accepts, finds that acceptable or worthy or lovable or good or bad. You are just being life, expressed through, in and as you. That's what we all want anyway, because it's real. We just want what's real, we just want what's true.

Speaker 1:

And we'll end with the prayer again, of myself I do nothing. It's the ultimate statement of humility Of myself. I do nothing, I merely witness the flow of love through me. Oh, look at this. Here I want to do a random act of kindness for this person. Oh, look what's happening. Look what's coming through my mind right now. It says I should go left instead of right. Look how life is living through me. Oh look, I want to give a random person a compliment, not a person a random compliment. Oh look, that's how life wants to flow through me. Right, we become the witness of it.

Speaker 1:

I use time wisely to cultivate perfect remembrance of the real world. Time and space do not imprison me. Nothing imprisons me except my own making. My own beliefs imprison me. I experience the effects of my beliefs, but time and space do not imprison me. I am waking up. I am limitless.

Speaker 1:

This body is not me. Yes, I am experiencing what it feels like to seem to be in a body, but a part of me knows that I am not the body. It is not who and what I am. I exist beyond the. I use it as a tool to fashion. I use this body. It's a vehicle, it's a communication device. I use it as a tool and shape to fashion and shape that which, in this world, can extend love into any moment. Because that is my purpose to extend love in any moment.

Speaker 1:

And here's the key Not to judge what that looks like. If my intention is pure and my intention is to express and extend love in any moment, then I'm not going to judge and try and think. If this is what love looks like, I'm just going to allow it to flow through, and then you're the vehicle, then you're the conduit, then you're the channel, then you're being what you were made to be, then you are fulfilled. This is what we're being invited into. Will you accept the invitation? Will you put in the time and make the time to do these exercises, to start to open, to experience these things? Do you want that right now? Is that your priority? And if it is, then you'll make the time. And if it's not, don't judge yourself. And if it is, then you'll make the time. And if't get it, I don't know if this works, but but I'm gonna keep showing up anyway. So that's all we have for today love.

Speaker 1:

You guys just want to acknowledge you right where you are on your journey. Whatever you're moving through, as hard as it might be for you, there is a gift in it for you. Your brain doesn't think it's a gift at all. Let's just acknowledge that. But if you can open to this idea that it is a gift in it for you, your brain doesn't think it's a gift at all. Let's just acknowledge that. But if you can open to this idea that it is a gift, it is calling you into deeper levels of love and compassion and forgiveness and empowerment and freedom. If you're just open to that idea, I can't see how this is a gift. But I'm open to it. The gifts will be revealed to you. Love yourself, and love yourself through the experience. I'm sending you love right now, wherever you are.
