Living The Way of Mastery with Jason Amoroso
Lesson 16: Separation Is Birthed
Lesson 16: The Birth of Egoic Consciousness
Section 3: Separation Is Birthed
Paragraphs: 1-16
What if the ego was just a playful aspect of divine creativity rather than a source of separation? Join us as we unravel this intriguing concept with insights from Jeshua in Lesson 16, where we explore the birth of egoic consciousness. Discover how the soul's descent into individuated awareness creates the illusion of separation from the divine, yet remains a unique expression of God's limitless potential. We journey through the notion of pure potentiality, reflecting on how even the mere thought of separation sparks a joyful exploration of existence. This profound narrative challenges us to reconsider the playful, unrestricted nature of divine consciousness and the origins of the ego.
Fear often feels real, yet what if it's just an illusion born from a perceived distance from the creator? Together, we delve into this captivating idea, illustrating fear as false evidence appearing real—a playful twist in the divine's exploration of limitation. Drawing parallels between spiritual insights and scientific phenomena like the Big Bang and quantum physics, our conversation examines how perception shapes reality, much like the wave-particle duality. Ultimately, we emphasize the unity of all things as facets of the one creator, contemplating the divine nature of everything, even what we perceive as darkness. Tune in for a thought-provoking journey that challenges conventional paradigms and invites a deeper understanding of our spiritual essence.

Hello and welcome back to Living the Way of Mastery. I'm Jason Amoroso, your guide and friend and fellow student. And today we continue with Lesson 16, the Birth of Egoic Consciousness, where Jeshua is basically giving us the story of creation, the creation of life, the creation of the ego, of the ego, the creation of the idea of separation, and we're going to look at section four, which is called separation is birth, and I just got to say I'm reading, rereading this, I've studied this. This is not an easy passage to kind of give a lot of commentary on, because it is Jeshua giving us a story. There's not a lot of principles and teachings here that we can apply in our own life, other than having a deeper context of just the origin of things, the beginning of things, the creation of things. So it's been a little bit more challenging in this lesson to do what I usually do in the podcast, but let's see what happens and have some fun with it. So separation is birthed. Jeshua begins this section as soul continues the extension of light of pure creativity, it condenses, it descends to the next level. Again, since we are using language from your side of the fence, there are not many other ways to speak of this, the soul descends or condenses and begins to create a deeper awareness of itself as an individuated thing. Now its awareness of itself as spirit is taking on a new coloration, a new vibration. It is becoming very close to what many of you have experienced in your own meditations and prayer, or the time you heard a child cry, or you walked through the forest at dawn when your egoic mind was temporarily transcended and you had a sense of your oneness with God and yet still felt other than God, creature and creator, son and father, united, yet somehow different and I think that's very relatable where we all have had this experience of feeling beyond ourself that there's something more, that there's a presence, that there's an energy, that there's a love, that there's a consciousness that holds us and yet feels separate from us, that there's God, that there's even life and there's us. So, even in reality, with a capital R, there is only one energy, one consciousness extending itself. There is this first, very subtle idea of separation of God, and this thing I call me. This is the awareness that Jeshua is talking about here, and so he says here in italics here in this awareness is where the separation can be said to have occurred, for it is here, in the first level of pure potentiality of this unique thought, that that which intelligence with a capital I intelligence is that which love with a capital L is that which light with a capital L is I have referred to this in A Course in Miracles as capital M Mind, which is not merely the prattling that goes on in the human brain that you refer to as quote.
Speaker 1:Thinking Mind is much vaster than that exclamation point. So this is the first awareness of mind, of consciousness as a seemingly individuated aspect of life. This is it right. Here he says. It is here in the first level of subtle perception of the capital S self as an individuated matrix of awareness that has awareness of itself. And yet that self or God is somehow something different than what the soul perceives itself to be.
Speaker 1:Here is where the first unique thought of separation is birthed, at this very subtle and italic subtle point. Long before the planets of your universe arose, long before the multidimensionality of creation came into being, here you are, here there is but one soul, a unique expression of the one spirit itself, the unique expression of the one who eternally is internally is Self-evident, beautiful, maybe confusing in some ways. Let's just be honest this is. It feels like this is above my pay grade in terms of, like, trying to intellectualize it and explain it. I think it's self-evident in what it's saying that here, in this experience that Jeshua is teaching us, showing us, he's showing us, telling us a story this was the start of this tiny mad idea of separation.
Speaker 1:He says awareness of itself is separate from the body of milk and for a moment, just for a moment, there is pure joy because it is still the One doing it, capital O One doing it out of entertainment, out of pure play, out of the sheer exuberance of extending itself in its infinite power, ceaselessly and without limitation. So here, creativity gives power, gives rise to the power of thought. The one now has created this through the idea of a separate self. This is the joy of creation, as Jeshua says, through infinite power and without limitation. So, god, god, this consciousness, this power, this life force will never limit itself. So even the idea of a separate self, which is impossible, is still game. Everything is fair game because God does not limit itself. So the drop of milk feels an awareness of itself and for a moment it's pure joy because it knows that it's creating a new experience of itself as seemingly separate.
Speaker 1:And then we get into fear. He says for you see, if God, who becomes you, held the thought quote I certainly can't separate myself from myself, end quote that would be a limitation. So the one creates a drop of itself along with the perception that it perceives itself as separate from something that is now, for the first time, other. Here is the germination, the seed planted for egoic consciousness. But that is still a little further along in the story. So here is the beginning of this idea that there can actually be an other, that there can be an other. And to say for God, to say I can't separate myself from myself, that's a limitation. God can do whatever God wants. The all, that is, the one power, can do whatever it wants, and I would say it joyfully explores that. So let's just embrace that for ourselves as well, that we are made of the same image and likeness of God. We're made in the image and likeness of God, of the same substance, that there is no limitation to us truly, maybe in the human world and in our brain and what we think is possible in this personality, but in reality we are unlimited, and Jeshua has been saying that from the beginning. So this is the very first instant where there's even the idea that this perception that there is other. So it's a seed, it's been planted for egoic consciousness. So let's keep going.
Speaker 1:Jeshua says, as that first thought of separation is dreamt, a new energy is born. That which has been pure joy, that which has been pure freedom, pure safety, now changes form slightly. You could say a drop of milk within the drop of milk seems to separate and take on its own energy, and that we have called fear. Here is born not extension but contraction or the experience of contraction as fear emerges in awareness. So once there's this first idea of separation, then game on. Then you can separate a billion times, an infinite, no, a trillion times. Once it's happened once or seems to happen once, then boom, multiplication infinitely. So once that first drop of milk seems to happen once, then boom, multiplication infinitely. So once that first drop of milk seems to be separate, then a drop of milk within the drop of milk also seems to be separate and take on its own energy. It just seems to, but it doesn't. It's impossible for it to take on its own energy. It's all one thing, but this is what we have called fear.
Speaker 1:Jeshua says it's not born of extension but of contraction or the experience of contraction. It's the experience, not reality, as fear emerges in awareness. This is the beginning, the origin of fear, and I guess a part of this. As we're reading, it's like oh, that's where fear came from. It's not even real. It's like it, oh, that's where fear came from. It's not even real. It's like it's an illusion, it's a false evidence appearing real, because in reality it's all one thing creating this experience. So maybe we don't take it as seriously or we just see it for what it is. So he continues.
Speaker 1:Now the river begins to cascade very, very quickly out of fear, out of the first inception of the thought, quote I am alone, I am separate from my creator. End quote. Yet in reality, it is the creator perceiving the creator and creating the perception that God is separate from God. The whole thing is kind of a game. It's a thing that God, creator, source, is doing, creating a sense of limitation, creating a sense of fear, when in reality God is only pure joy, pure love, pure wholeness. I don't even want to say pure safety, because there's nothing to be threatened. So it's God creating a new perception, a new way of experiencing itself. It's the creator, perceiving the creator and creating the perception that God is separate from God. It's the creator, perceiving the creator and creating the perception that God is separate from God. It's just a perception, it's not reality. Again, this is what we are doing. That's why this is important to have this context but also understand this is what we do.
Speaker 1:He continues with that thought, the thought that I am alone, I am separate from my creator. It's just a thought, it's not reality, but it creates an experience. With that thought, an explosion occurs, very like what your scientists have called the Big Bang. They do not know how close they are. They merely need to make the shift to seeing that the Big Bang occurred in consciousness itself, not out of pure matter. So the scientists look at the physical, but he's saying, jesher's saying, this happened in consciousness. Boom, explosion of multidimensionality, explosion of individuation, but still all encompassed. It's all happening within the one, within the one, within God. There can't be anything outside of one. So he says, in the big bang of consciousness, suddenly imagine that drop of milk exploding in space. Which into being, which comes into being with the thought of separation. So the thought of separation. I'm separate, boom, like I just said infinitude, of other separate, seemingly separate individuations and becoming an infinite, an infinite array or number of points. Little droplets of milk, little droplets of consciousness. Little sparks of points. Little droplets of milk, little droplets of consciousness, little sparks of divinity, little particles of light.
Speaker 1:To use yet another analogy from your realm of science, the wave of light has now become particles of light. When and why? Who can say? Only that capital O one, only that one can say who is doing the birthing of itself knows, and you are that one, oh man. So, to use yet another analogy from your realm of science and quantum physics, the research has shown, the studies have shown. I don't remember which scientist or physicist invented this, it wasn't Schrodinger's cat, that's a different experiment. So my bad. But where they they? They have.
Speaker 1:The wave of light, when it is observed, becomes particles of light. They shot waves of light and they had slits in, I guess a piece of metal or something. And when, once the wave of light went through the slit, if it was observed it turned into particles of light and if it wasn't observed, it stayed as a wave of light, something like that. Yeah, so so I love this because jeshua says when and why did this happen. Who can say he so he's even acknowledging like I don't even know, jeshua's, like I don't even know and Jeshua's like I don't even know and it doesn't even matter, you don't need to know everything.
Speaker 1:Intellectually, he says only that one who's doing the birthing itself knows. And then he throws us a curveball again. He says and you are that one implying that a part of us does know? Because of course, we are not really an individuated aspect. It just seems like we're an individuated aspect of the one. We are the one. It's like God playing a game of hide and seek with itself. For the joy of it.
Speaker 1:Let's continue, of course, because there's one substance. In fact. He says you could not find any difference between the points of light whatsoever, none. If you were to measure them, they would be the same size, although they have no size. If you measured their frequency or vibration, they would all be the same identical points of light that seem to have now taken existence in different points of space. Because, again, it's all one thing. Think about this next time you want to say something is quote evil or demons or darkness or the devil, or something's better or worse. When you start comparing things in in existence just understand and our brain doesn't like this it's all God. It literally is all God.
Speaker 1:Jeshua continues. That is, there is the sense that, while they are identical in quality and substance that's why Jeshua says there's no difference between where I am and you are there is a slight difference in the space that each one occupies, as though you took two identical pencils and put one on the left on the table and one on the right, still made of the same substance. But now, in the vast continuum of space, that which is identical is occupying two points of space, each with the perfect freedom, mirroring the perfect freedom of the one God, the perfect freedom of the one God, infinite rays of light now mirroring and reflecting the perfection of the freedom of pure potentiality, which is the light itself, the pure potentiality to create. And each one has within it the thought, the recognition, the perception of separation. So, on some level, everything that we see and experience, every seemingly individuation of the one, on some very subtle level, has within it the thought, the recognition, the perception of separation. Every person you meet, every thing in existence that seems to be separate, all the angels or the demons, or the people or the souls or the ETs or the aliens or whatever, on some level, has within it the thought, the recognition, the knowing, the perception of separation.
Speaker 1:And he says fear has been birthed. Because that is what fear is the perception of separation. Fear has been birthed and with it the thoughts, quote I am alone. I am not that point of light over there, I am just myself. End quote. There, I am just myself. End quote.
Speaker 1:As the energy of fear continues, the contraction, the condensation, the dissension continues. Now, what has burst forth instantaneously and then in parentheses this is not yet requiring time end parentheses is the multitude that word's in italics. What has burst forth instantaneously is the multitude that words in italics. What is burst forth instantaneously is the multitude, the infinite multi-dimensionality, which is creation, except that the physical universe has not yet been birthed. The physical universe requires the concept of time, for only in time does the physical dimension exist. For only in time does the physical dimension exist. There is dimensions of timelessness, but we are experiencing this 3d dimension of time and space. That is only where physical dimension can exist in time. And it's all coming out of this thought that I am alone. I am not the point of light over there, I am not that thing, I am separate, I am just myself.
Speaker 1:And the cool thing is we've all experienced timelessness. And the cool thing is we've all experienced timelessness, right, we all have entered a level of consciousness where time doesn't exist, where time seems to stop. So we're not trapped, so to speak, in this physical dimension. We're not trapped here. One, we chose to be here and we continue to choose to be here, otherwise we wouldn't be here. So, just understanding that, that we're not trapped here and that we can experience ourselves outside of time and he continues in this last paragraph here is where you find what has been called, in your language, the hierarchy of angelic beings, of angelic worlds. They are points of light, just like you, but not in the experience of time, nor in the condensation that you would call physical bodies, not even the lower astral bodies, bodies.
Speaker 1:Still, this multi-dimensionality of creativity is a radiant dance with just a tinge of a sense of separation, or quote. Otherness, quote or fear. So Jeshua is saying anything that seems to have an awareness of itself, of separate, anything that seems to be an individuation of the one, has a tinge, a very subtle awareness of separation or fear. Now, it doesn't mean, from what I'm understanding, it doesn't mean it runs its life like it can run our life. Fear can run our life but it's just a very, very subtle, probably out of awareness, but still felt, sense of fear. He's talking about even the angels felt sense of fear. He's talking about even the angels, the hierarchy of angelic beings of the angel world. Even they, on some level, because they identify as a separate being oh, I am this. I am me and I'm an extension of the light on some level is a radiant dance with just a tinge of sense of separation. So give yourself a freaking break. If the angels and archangels have just a tinge of a sense of separation or fear, give yourself a break, let yourself off the hook. Give yourself a little more compassion and love and kindness and understanding and grace, and that's the end of this section.
Speaker 1:There's a pretty dense, intense section for the way of mastery. You know, I would say the A Course in Miracles is a very dense teaching. Oh man, you could read like one or two lines of that and they can knock you out. The way of mastery, I think, is a more digestible, easier to read teaching. But this section is dense, man. It really taxes. I feel like it taxes the brain and I almost feel like trying to understand it intellectually gets in the way. It's like when you try and look at something very closely, try and really analyze it, sometimes it's harder to grasp. Maybe it's like those you know, they were very popular in the 90s. Dave Matthews had one of his album.
Speaker 1:Arts were one of those like images that looks like just a bunch of weird like patterns, but if you soften your gaze then the image kind of comes forward. If you soften your gaze, then the image kind of comes forward. I was. I still have never really been able to do that. It's like an optical illusion. If you just look at it it looks like a bunch of patterns or waves or whatever, but if you soften your gaze the image comes through. That's what this section feels like. You kind of need to read it and absorb and like just be open to it, the information just like coming to you versus like let me understand it with my brain. That's at least my experience. You might be different and that's great. That's why I am absolutely a student on this path with you, just sharing my journey and my experience and that's the end of the section.
