Lesson 16: The Birth of Egoic Consciousness
Section 6: Fear Has Taken Its Final Form
Paragraphs: 12-14

We dive into Lesson 16 of The Way of Mastery, exploring the paradox that we use the very power of pure consciousness to create the illusion of separation. Jeshua teaches that awakening from egoic consciousness happens when our true Self decides it's time, not when our ego demands it.

• The power to think we're separate comes from the One consciousness we truly are
• We are not our brain or thoughts but the awareness that generates them
• Like wearing VR goggles, we're having an experience but remain what we truly are
• Our souls intentionally choose physical form for learning and growth
• If we want to learn courage, our soul may create experiences of fear
• Ram Dass suggests dying is "the most important moment in any incarnation"
• Conscious dying is like "taking off a tight shoe" - a release from limitation

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back to Living the Way of Mastery. I'm your guide and friend and fellow student, jason Amoroso. And today we are diving back into Lesson 16, the Birth of Egoic Consciousness, paragraph 12. And Jeshua is a couple paragraphs before talking about this power that we have, that from the very mind that says, the egoic mind that says I'm separate, I'm alone, I cannot think with the mind of God, I cannot experience unity, consciousness, I cannot be as Jeshua is not me. I'm too small, too weak, I just don't have it together yet. Small, too weak, I just don't have it together yet, but maybe someday. From that very mind he says all the while, you are that one. And so let's pick up in paragraph 12. He says the whole while.

Speaker 1:

That very thought must use the power of the one, for that power is life, for that power is life, that power is pure being, that power is the real world, that power is the only thing that exists. Period by the power of that one. And the T in that and the O in one are capitalized by the power of that one. You have dreamt the thought of the separate self, dreamt the thought of the separate self by the power of that one in italics. When you decide to, you will awaken from the thought of egoic consciousness. So just hammering this point home, that, and we go back to lesson one. I mean you just read lesson one, especially as you progress through the rest of the way of mastery, the rest of the lessons. It pretty much says everything you need to know in Lesson 1. That you are pure, loving consciousness. Awareness. That is what life is, that is what God is Pure, loving consciousness with the power to create. And that's what we do. We create this tiny mad idea of separation and then we experience the tiny mad idea of separation, but that doesn't change what we truly are. We're just having an experience Like you put on VR goggles. You think you're at the top of a skyscraper. You know that could fall down and die. Your brain doesn't. You know your brain's freaking out. I've done that. It's crazy, it feels so weird, but you're not. You're still there, just with a headset on. It's kind of the same thing that you are the witness consciousness and you can create whatever experience that you have, but the power is not the thought. The power is the consciousness that can generate the thought. So we're just being reminded. We are not our brain, we're, not our thoughts, the one who thinks I'm not worthy. The power to even have that thought is that one is the power of God and this great line by the power of that one.

Speaker 1:

When you decide to you, you will awaken from the thought of egoic consciousness. So the first obvious interpretation of this is that you are choosing this experience, you decide when you will awaken. A lot of people and there's a lot of, I guess, anecdotal evidence and spiritual teachings that say you decide when you incarnate, you decide when you leave the earth. So what's the point in worrying if it's already in a way predetermined when you're checking out of this human bodily experience, if you decide at all? Now, the important word there is the you which you is Jeshua referring to, not the ego. You Not the small, personal, insecure feeling, lack, feeling less than separate self. You Not the ego mind. You the higher, the true self, the capital S self. You decide when you will awaken from the thought of egoic consciousness. So the victim-y ego self will be like well, why am I deciding? Not for that? That's what I want. I want to be at peace, I want to have God consciousness. I don't like this suffering, I don't like feeling separate. So what the heck? Why am I? What am I doing wrong? Right, that's what the ego does. It always blames us. What am I doing wrong? Why haven't I awakened yet? If this is what I want, it's like chill out a little bit, relax a little bit and just keep going, just keep showing up in practice.

Speaker 1:

Jeshua continues. Now, why is all this important? Beloved friends, the way of transformation requires that there be that which exists in form. You exist in form. You are sitting in a chair, you know the space and volume of a human body, you know the particular thoughts that you identify as your own. Now it seems like Jeshua is kind of speaking to our ego self, the part of us that believes we're a separate body, we're in this, we're on planet earth, we're having this human experience, right, and that's what he says. You exist in form, you're sitting in a chair, you know the space and volume of a body. And then he continues you have a history to that body-mind that emerged from sexual desire between two beings called parents, who got together and a little thing wiggled its way up to touch another thing, and there was a burst of light and a pure spark of pure soul made a decision in italics, decision from in italics intentionality to become fixated or identified with and as a physical form. So your parents got together, had sex and, boom, your pure soul decided.

Speaker 1:

I decided, with intention, to come into physical form. Why? Maybe for the play of it? Maybe for the fun of it? Maybe for the joy of it? Maybe to deepen in lessons? Hey, I want to learn more about love. Let me go into this 3D matrix world and learn lessons on love.

Speaker 1:

And when I have an intention to learn lessons or grow in a certain area, what do I usually experience and what does the soul bring to me? The opposite of that. If I want to experience courage, you need fear. So let me create experiences that make me afraid, come into parents and a culture and a belief system of fear, so that I can choose courage and know what courage and a deep embodied level not embodied like in a body, but in a deep consciousness level feels like more and more and more. Let me expand into courage If I want to experience abundance, if I'm a soul and say, hey, I want to go to earth, school and experience and you're not actually going from point A to point B, but that's another thing. If I want to go to earth school and experience more abundance. Then what do I create? What does my soul create? My ego doesn't like this. What does my soul create? Experiences of lack, so that I can see through the illusions of lack and choose abundance over and over again and then be abundant. In my opinion, in my awareness, this is how it works.

Speaker 1:

So Jesher says so having a good time on a Saturday night is the source of your being as a bodily being. This is the source of your being. Your parents together had sex. Boom. Your soul said, hey, let's go down. And you're not really going down, but let's just say it like that let's go down into a body, have this human experience. Let's go down, and you're not really going down, but let's just say it like that let's go down into a body, have this human experience, let's go.

Speaker 1:

And for whatever reason, reading that line as a bodily being, it kind of implies the temporary nature of the body. Right, you're. You're the source of your, the source, and this is small s, not to be confused with capital S source, god, life, the all that is the creative power and source of all. This is the source, the small s source of your small b being your human self as a bodily being. So when he says, as a bodily being, it's temporary. You're having this temporary human experience because all things in time are temporary, all things in form are temporary. And it made me think about just yesterday in Breath Church we focused on Ram Dass Be here Now and we played a song called Be here Now and it's really beautiful, like kind of meditation music, and then it's got Ram Dass's voice over it. You know it must have been some audio clips from Talks he Gave or whatever Ram Dass's voice over it. You know it must have been some audio clips from talks he gave or whatever.

Speaker 1:

And he says dying is the most important moment that exists in any incarnation. I thought that was such a cool thing. I'd never heard before that dying is the most important moment. Usually we think, oh, birth is the most important moment, because you're incarnating or something that happens along the journey of incarnation is the most important moment. When you wake up, he says no, dying is the most important moment that exists in any incarnation. Wow. And he talks about I wish you a conscious death experience, that you die, that your dying experience is conscious, that you're aware of it the whole time, that you don't go to sleep, that you don't deny it, that you don't wish it was different, that you're not afraid of it, but that it is a conscious, aware experience for you. I think he's one of the people who said you know, dying is like taking off a tight shoe that's a couple sizes too small, and kind of breathe, that breath of relief like oh man, I'm not limited to this physical form anymore. He has an amazing. He has, but there's an amazing documentary on Netflix about the dying process of Ram Dass, called Going Home. It is really beautiful and heartwarming. Check it out.

Speaker 1:
