Living The Way of Mastery with Jason Amoroso
Each day I will read a passage from The Way of Mastery and share my commentary on it. The intention is to provide an opportunity to develop a consistent, simple spiritual study practice and grow together.
Living The Way of Mastery with Jason Amoroso
Lesson 17: Forget Your Embodied Existence
What if the part of you that never changes has been quietly watching all along—calm, loving, and fully awake—while life pulled you into errands, deadlines, and everyone else’s urgency? Today we open Lesson 17 from The Way of Mastery and trace a path from autopilot to awareness, from “I’m a product of my circumstances” to “I’m the witness who can choose.” We talk about the wave-and-ocean view of self, why stillness matters in a noisy world, and how five honest minutes of meditation can reset your day and your direction.
From there, we explore states of awareness beyond the body that you already touch in dreams, daydreams, deep focus, and breathwork. You’ll hear how practices like Revelation Breathwork make you vividly aware that you have a body but aren’t confined by it, easing fear around death and freeing authentic creativity. We also open a grounded conversation about “friends” on the inner path—guides, angels, and supportive presences—and how to invite respectful, loving communication without forcing belief. Simple intentions, recurring symbols, colors, and quiet nudges can become a real relationship when you start paying attention.
The boldest idea lands with a thud of recognition: you can’t imagine what you haven’t already experienced in some dimension of being. Imagination isn’t wishful thinking; it’s memory peeking through. That means your recurring vision—a stage, a book, a healing practice—isn’t random. It’s a breadcrumb from a wider self calling you forward. We unpack how to pursue that call without the ego’s hunger for validation, and why the inevitable tests are actually part of becoming who you already are. If everything already exists, your next brave step is the bridge.

Hello, and welcome back to Living the Way of Mastery. I'm Jason Amaroso, your guide and friend and fellow student. And today we continue with lesson 17, The Journey of the Soul, this opening section, paragraph 5, where Jeshua continues. In our last lesson, we begin to explore by way of analogy that which has transpired that brought you into the experience of being a spark of the divine, an aspect of the totality that brought you to the place of the soul. Then the soul condenses and falls into what you have called your physical world. And there you find yourself right here and right now, surely the product of the world around you, surely the product of your parents, surely the product of forces beyond your control. Yet the whole while you have remained exactly as you are the witness, the seer, pure consciousness, the capital S self. Beautiful. So Jeshua is referencing lesson 16. The analogy that he uses is the glass of milk, and when you pour the milk for just a brief instant, it seems like a tiny drop has separated from the rest of the milk, and it creates this whole identity, this whole story, but really it is all the milk. And so this is what he's letting us know we are. We are a seemingly individuated aspect of the one, that the one has individuated itself into there's no limit, right? As many aspects of itself, but it's all the same thing. That's why I think the best analogy is the is the wave. If there's the ocean, and the wave is an expression of the ocean, and it comes into formation and then it comes back into the ocean, but it's all one thing. This is what you are. And he says, and then you find yourself right here, right now, surely the product of the world around you, that the soul condenses and falls into what you call the 3D physical world. But of course, all of this is still happening within consciousness because consciousness is all there is. But it feels real that you are the product of the physical world, that you are the product of your parents, that's surely the product of forces beyond your control. That you, that you are in a way uh a victim in the sense that there's other things outside of you that you have no control over that are um impressing upon you and imposing their will upon you and making you react to them. And he says, yet the whole while, while all of this is happening, you have remained exactly as you are, exactly as you've always been. The witness, the seer, pure consciousness, the self. This is what you are pure loving consciousness with the ability to create. And this is why meditation. I was just in my five minutes of meditation as a Christ right before this, and I had this awareness that what are we doing here? Like, if we're not spending some time, at least five minutes a day, in stillness, in quiet. And maybe you do that in nature. I I live in the suburbs and we live in um Asheville, North Carolina. So there's a lot of nature around, even the suburbs, not like when I was living on Long Island, New York. You know, there's sidewalks and it's all, you know, it's it's a modern suburb. This is more of like kind of rural suburbs where there's no sidewalks, there's lots of nature and trees and paths and and places to go everywhere. But we got four kids. They're in school, we work, we work from home, we drive around, like the kids are in sports. Like it's nonstop. You wake up in the morning and it's so easy just to, okay, I got to go to work, I got to do the laundry, I gotta make sure the kitchen's clean, I got to take the kids. Oh, they forgot their water bottle. I got to drive back to the school, like all the things. It's just it's so easy. Oh, we got to make dinner. Oh, now the kids need to be picked up. Like, it's so easy just to get caught up in this unconscious behavior, unconscious way of living. And I would say more and I are pretty conscious, meaning pretty aware. Like our whole lives are centered around this work in a beautiful way. And so for people who maybe this isn't their priority, I can only imagine how easy it is to get caught up in, you can call it the rat race, or you could just call it in modern living, especially with so many distractions, the phones, the TVs, all the things. So that like when I was meditating for five minutes today, and sometimes I do longer for sure, but today was, I think today was a little bit longer, it's five to ten minutes. I had this awareness like, what are we doing if we're not connecting and we're not opening ourselves and we're not uh humbling ourselves to like what life is, to the stillness, to the this inner voice, this inner love, this magic, this mystery that really is holding it all together in and working in mysterious and beautiful and unpredictable and amazing ways. Like, what the hell are we doing? And I'm not saying, like, hey, raising a family or having a job or, you know, contributing to society or whatever, like living a life. I'm not saying that's that's bad, duh. But it's like at the end of the day, if we're honest with ourselves, we're all dying, quote unquote. Like we're all leaving the body. Nothing we create in the world ever lasts, ever, ever, ever. Uh, what we think is important is not important at all. Like, think about back, I don't know, 200 years ago. What is that, 17? Uh, I don't know, 200 years ago, Jesus. It's it's 2025. Oh my gosh. So that 200 years ago is 1825, right? Yeah, I think that's right. Like, who were the well-known people of the day? Like, no one gives a shit. No one cares. They're all dead. The wealthiest people in in 1825, they're all dead. Like, what are we doing? What are we doing with our lives? Are we just here to survive and get on with things and try and enjoy the fleeting moments? There's so much more available to us in this life that we don't ever even sniff if we don't slow down. But actually, I think it is built into the design by our capital S self to slow down. How is it built into the design? Let's call it like the midlife crisis. At some point, something happens to every person that has the opportunity and potential, whether or not they take it, to wake them up. It might be a health diagnosis, it could be cancer, it could be uh divorce, it could be a relationship that you know ends, it could be uh financial distress, it could be all these things, a death of a loved one. Um, or you wake up and you're like, what the hell am I doing with my life? If you've been working at a job because you worked at that job because it was safe and secure, because your parents told you and society told you that's what you should do. And you're like, I'm not happy at all. What the hell am I working so hard for? Right. I think it is built into the design of life to have these wake up moments, whether we take them or not. Uh, and I think more and more people are becoming aware of this and curious about it and hopefully using it to wake up, hopefully or not, at the end of the day, right? It does not matter. We are all going home at some point in time. We're all waking up. We all have our own curriculum. But it's like this like, what are we doing if we're not making time to go within? If we're not really consciously creating our day, we're living on autopilot. That's why so many people are unhappy. But we're getting laid. This is the foundation of what's of what's happening, Jeshua. I get off on my detours. Um, so Jeshua continues. So we are the witness. You're not in it as much as you are the witness of it. And if we don't have a practice like meditation, this is not an easy concept to get because in meditation, you're not so much in your brain, your intellect. You drop more into the body, you drop more into the heart, you drop out of the personal self-ego mind, and open up to and make yourself available to the higher mind. So if we don't ever do that, it's really challenging to access the witness consciousness. Now we absolutely have it, and every person has access to it. It's not off limits, it's not a secret. It's just not a priority in our modern in the modern life. And that's okay. That's whose responsibility is that? It's not society's responsibility to make it a priority. No, you gotta do your work. You take responsibility for you, and I will take responsibility. Each individual has to take responsibility for themselves. All right, back to the lesson. In this lesson, we are going to speak specifically about this one life that you are living now. Beloved friends, in the moment prior to your incarnation, you were in existence, abiding with perfectly clear awareness within a state or quality or dimension of consciousness. It is true that even that was the result of choices made in the past. But we wish to speak in this lesson of this one incarnation. So he's saying, you are pure consciousness. Before you came into this body, this personality, this life that you think is your life, you were, you existed, you were alive, you were in form, as we're going to hear in a second. You were in form. But we're not going to get into all the other incarnations that were the results of choices made in the past, but we're talking about this incarnation, this life you are living right now. He says, before we do that, take a few moments to pause and allow the body to relax with a few deep breaths. I'm going to do that right now. Let the things that need to be done sit on the shelf for a while. When you have done that, you are ready to continue. There's nowhere else you need to be. All the things that occupy your mental space while you're doing your studies of the way of mastery, just set them to the side. If you need to, you can pick them back up. But he's really inviting you to slow down, to get out of your head, come into the moment and be open. And he continues, beloved friend, imagine abiding without a physical body and yet having awareness. This should not be difficult, since you do it each night while you sleep. You do it when you, quote, daydream. It occurs occasionally while making love and while watching your television. In fact, each and every one of you experiences that quality of awareness several times during each and every day when you, quote, forget yourself. That is, you forget your embodied existence. The difference being that in your world, you, quote, come back to your senses. That is, you come back to embodied experience and existence. So he's inviting us to have this, I would call it a more expanded consciousness, a more expanded awareness that you are not limited to this physical form. And the brain is like, what do you mean? I am a body. How can I have that? Now, my guess is if you're drawn to the way of mastery and you're on lesson 17, you understand this. You probably have had or still have some meditation practice. You've had experiences of being in nature where you kind of feel like you're one with it all and it's all one with you. Uh, you've had these experiences. And I think he uses the dream analogy because it's every single person, uh, whether you've had these experiences or you can think of them or not, can understand the dream where you maybe have a body, but you don't relate to your body. There's absolutely dreams where, at least for me, it's a very, it feels like, seems like an embodied experience, but you're not separate. You're not in a body in a dream. You're in your head, so to speak, you're in your brain, so to speak, but it really is consciousness. When you daydream, you're not really aware of the body. And when I was a young kid, and I do it now, but when I was a young kid dreaming about being a major league baseball player, dreaming about playing in the NBA finals, like you're dreaming those things, but your body's not there. You're not so much aware of the body. When you get lost in thought, you're not so much aware of the body. When you're lost in nature, you're not aware of the body. When you're in the movie theater and you're watching a really good movie, you're in the movie. You're observing the movie. You're not really aware of the body. You forget yourself when you're making love. If you're not so much in your head, you are so present that your consciousness it's always beyond the body, but you're open to the experience of your consciousness, your awareness beyond just the form of the physical body. This is what we're being invited into. This is really more of what you are, which is limitless, not just expanded consciousness, limitless awareness. And then when you come back into the body, you're like, oh, yep, look, I'm a body. I mean, it happens in Revelation breath work. If you haven't done revelation breath work, come. Come to a class. We have a two-week free trial. You know, it doesn't cost you anything. We also have free breath work for beginners, which is a three-part series to really slowly introduce you to the practice. But it is such a practice of getting out of the head and body. It's like being out of the body and in the body at the same time. It's hard to explain. Um, but absolutely, when I when I practice revelation breath work, I'm aware that I have a body, but I'm also so aware that I'm not the body. It is the and it's liberation. And it also really decreases a lot of fear around death of the body, around dying. Because, oh, I know that this isn't me. It's just like a shell. It's just a temporary, you know, vehicle, communication device that I get around in, but I don't, I don't have to, I guess. And but I am having the experience. It's really cool. So Jeshua continues, imagine, though, a state in which there simply is no physical form and you are abiding as consciousness itself. Oh, yes, you have awareness. Oh, yes, you have form, but that form of energy is not condensed into the third dimension. You have friends. That is, you have other consciousnesses with which you are in perfect communication. The first image that came into my mind with this paragraph is at the end of uh is like Star Wars, when Obi-Wan Kenobi is like ghost Obi-Wan for Luke Skywalker. When Darth Vader strikes him down, although he doesn't really, because he doesn't cut him in half because Obi-Wan Kenobi kind of just like disappears. But then he's very much alive for Luke. He's talking to Luke, and then in the next movie he sees him. He's kind of like a ghost form. He's like a light form. That's what I think about when Jeshua says you have awareness and you have form, but that form of energy is not condensed into the third dimension. It's not hard and physical like we would think. When you have visitations from your loved ones who have passed in your dreams, for me, that's not just a dream. That is your loved one, like have communicating with you. They're still in form. And I know for my brother, my brother passed when he was 45, I think, 45 years old. And he was fit. I mean, before he got sick, he was healthy, he was strong, he had a six-pack, good biceps, he was bald. He was 40, he was a 45-year-old man in good shape. And sometimes in my dreams, he shows up and he looks like he did more in like his mid-20s. Like he's got this big black quaff of hair. Um, he's not as like jacked, muscular, but he's still, you know, he was always in good shape. But he has a big black quaffa hair, which he never, like in his early mid-20s, he lost all his hair. So um, but that's the form that he's choosing to take. And why couldn't we, why can't he change up the way that he appears in my dreams at different times? Sometimes he's the bald Lewis in the 40s. Sometimes he looks like, you know, he's in his 20s, but he's got a big quaffa hair. Like, why not? There's no limits. So you have form, but you're not in physical form. And you have friends and you have friends, other consciousnesses. So it's all God, and God expresses itself in different unique ways and expressions. So you are a unique expression. And while I'm saying you, it really is God. It's a wave, and there's other waves. You have you have guardian, we call them angels. Let's call them angels. You have angels, you have guides. We all do. We all have, because your life isn't limited to this physical life. You have had other incarnations, other, you've been, you've existed forever outside of time. So why wouldn't you have other friends that you've been on other adventures with and other incarnations with that they're not in a body and you are at this moment in time, but they're with you, hanging out, popping into your dream, so to speak, to say hi or to give you a little guidance. And maybe it comes in the form of a dream, maybe it comes in the form of a drug hallucination or trip, maybe it comes in the form of a coma and you have visions. I don't know. I'm not trying to put limits on it. But we all have guides and angels that we actually have really close relationships with, whether we realize it in this lifetime or not. And I would encourage you, if this idea intrigues you, to start having the intention to communicate with these, let's Jeshua calls them friends, with these friends. One of my friends is a massive lion like an Aslan in the lion Witch in the Wardrobe, an Aslan type figure for me, a massive lion. Of Lion, who said his name was Starcaster. Now that sounds so crazy, but I was in a very deep experience. Um, I was actually in an EFT session with a great practitioner. Her name is Jude Weber, W-E-B-E-R. Check her out. I work with Jude now for three years. And in one of the sessions, I go really deep. In one of the sessions, um, my guide and friend, Starcaster, a huge lion, showed up and showed me how I had, in a way, made a deal with the devil, and I was really judging myself and really feeling shameful and feeling trapped. And then Starcaster came and kind of lit me up and helped me see correctly. And uh, I made a different choice to leave that deal with the devil, so to speak, to harm other people, other beings. I don't know if they were humans, but like, right? Like it's all on the table. This sounds crazy to my brain, but it just feels true in my body. I don't know how else to say it. Um so I'm going with that, and I'm sharing that that your friends don't have to be looking like humans. Um, if you want to get a little bit out there, you can do. I would I would encourage you if you want to learn more about like Pleiadians, which are another life, another expression, uh, they look like humans, and actually humans, according to uh some of the sources that I've read, um, the the humans were upgraded in the image and likeness from a physical standpoint from Pleiadians. Uh you we might call them aliens, but they look like us, or really we look like them. But there's Syrians and Arcturians, there's other beings in this infinite galaxy of physical. So why not? I know this sounds crazy again to some people, but why not? And so if some of your friends don't look like you think they might in your dreams or your visions, that's great. Why would there be a limit on what life can look like and what consciousness, what form consciousness can take? There isn't. So anyway, long story short, if you're curious in exploring your specific guides, your specific angels, in meditation, start asking. Hey, reveal yourself to me. I would like to develop my relationship with you. Maybe at first it's just a voice, but then maybe they take an image for you. Practice it, see what happens. And as Jeshua kind of references in the last lesson, a part of you may really resist this and be like, this is bogus. A part of you may love it, a part of you may resist it both at the same time. And so we kind of get what we're open to. And as we slowly open more and more and more, and maybe you'll see an Instagram or a Facebook video or a YouTube video now that I'm bringing it up into your world, this idea of other consciousnesses and friends, and Jeshua's bringing it up in the way of mastery. Maybe you start to open a little bit more. Maybe it takes years, a couple of years. And you see some videos here and there, you listen to Bashar and you listen to some other channelers that resonate for you. Uh, and you're like, oh, okay, I'm open to this idea of beings visiting me, um, what either in my dreams or not. Why not? There is no limit. It's all God. So, anyways, that was big tangent. I love it. He says, Jeshua continues, many of you that are reading this lesson are sufficiently evolved to have come into this life of yours now from a state of consciousness that is quite peaceful, quite joyous. Communication with those which we would call, quote, friends, is unbroken. It is consistent, it is respectful, it is loving, it is free. So beautiful. So he uses this phrase, sufficiently evolved in your consciousness, that you um I like to think of it as just in in eternity, we uh become more and more aware of what we are. We expand. I like the word expansion versus evolving. Evolving for me has more of a connotation of like a less than to a greater than you're becoming, but I like expansion where the it's just it's just grows. It just keeps expanding. I think it means kind of the same thing that Jeshua's using, but your consciousness has expanded or evolved as you've come into this carnation, this life of yours now, with a state of consciousness that is quite peaceful, quite joyous. Think about it. Think of how many consciousnesses that are here on the planet are not peaceful and not joyous. And communication, Jeshua says, with those which we call friends that we've just talked about is unbroken. It's not like, oh, they visit me every once in a while. It is constant, it's unbroken. You can connect, you can communicate whenever you need, whenever you want. It's respectful, it's loving, it's free. I mean, it sounds like a true friendship. And then Jeshua invites us, as you relax and read this simple description, what color or colors begin to come to mind? Notice them, pay attention to them, what images seem to fleetingly flow through the mind, notice them, pay a moment's attention to them. I see in the margin I wrote at some point, I don't know when the date was, green olive tree, purple eggplant, orange almost burnt clay color, a red rose. That was coming to me at that time. Green has always been my favorite color since I was a little kid. Maybe it's the trees or the forest or something, like that color green. Um so maybe that's I don't know, encoded in my consciousness. But yeah, take some time and just see what pops in. And maybe nothing. Like sometimes when we're in our head and we're in our intellect, it's like, what does that mean? Colors or shapes or images. I'm not getting anything. And that's okay too. That's okay too. And maybe something comes in. All right, are we gonna do another one? Yeah, I think we'll do one more. Jeshua says, For remember an ancient truth we once gave you. You cannot imagine that which you have not experienced. For imagination is the picturing in the conscious mind. That picturing must come forth from something. Mind as you know it can only picture what is or has been. It can find ways at times to bring it back into the third-dimensional experience, but that does not mean that it is new. You know what this makes me think about? This makes me think about like movies and how so many movies people say are like, oh, this is predictive programming. Look, that happened in a movie 20 years ago, and now it's happening in quote unquote real life now. Like, oh my gosh, how did this author, how did this writer have this, how did this director have this vision that came in? Where did these ideas and thoughts come from? What Jeshua is saying to us is that nothing is new in a way, that if you can picture it, it exists. On some dimension, on some in some dimension, let's call it that, some dimension, some timeline, whatever, like it exists in consciousness. An ancient truth we once gave you, you cannot imagine that which you have not experienced. For imagination is the picturing in the conscious mind. Whoa, whoa, whoa, fucking whoa. What does that mean? You cannot, so if you can imagine something winning the Powerball, uh dying a fiery death, um, I don't know what I know I just gave like two dramatic examples. The Scorpio and me, very dramatic. But if you can imagine something, finding the love of your life, stubbing your toe and falling into a sinkhole out in the woods all by yourself and starving to death. I don't know. Like, if you can imagine it, if sometimes like I put my consciousness in other situations, meaning like I just had it right now. Like, oh, I can imagine being a deer and being hunted and having an arrow come into my body and like feeling my breath leaving my body and knowing that I'm dying, but no fear because I'm an animal in a way. Like, I can imagine that. I might watch a scene in a movie, or let's say it's LeBron James hitting the game-winning shot and like celebrating. Like, I can put my consciousness in a way into that experience and be like, oh, I've done that before. I've been that before, I've had that experience before. You know, it's like if you can dream it, it's possible, it's waiting for you. It exists somewhere in some timeline, infinite possibilities, infinite possibilities. But if you have a dream in your heart and you're like, oh man, I could see myself on stage talking in front of thousands of people. You, Jeshua's saying you could not have had that image in your consciousness if it has not already come forth from something. In a way, it's already happened. And I would another way of saying it's like it's all happening now. And your consciousness has access to and can create it all now. Now, the ego mind, this just popped in. The ego mind wants to be like, oh, well, I'm gonna use that to get what I want because I don't have like the ego is gonna always come from lack and try and use the things. So many people try and manifest, but they don't realize they're manifesting to fill a lack that they feel deeply. When what Jeshua is saying is if you can dream it or imagine it, it's already happened. You've already had the thing. You've already had all the money, all the lovers, you've already had the six-pack abs, you've already had all the validate, you know, all the validation acknowledgment, you've already done all the things. You can create what you want. You're infinite, you're deathless, you're you're lovable. Like you've already had all of it. So it's so funny for the ego to try and be like, well, I'm missing something. Let me go get it. It's silly, it's funny. It's the tiny mad idea from the soul perspective. It's a tiny mad idea that we take so seriously that we forgot was just a tiny mad idea. So, anyways, what Jeshua's saying here is huge. You cannot imagine that which you have not experienced. For imagination is the picture in the conscious mind. And that picturing must come forth from something. Mind as you know it can only picture what is or has been. It can find ways at times to bring it back into the third-dimensional experience, but that does not mean that it is new. It exists. All things in existence exist, they already exist all at once. How cool is this? This is like quantum physics from the mystics standpoint. And so again, let's, I know this is a longer podcast, but let's bring it back really quickly. I'm gonna bring this back really quickly to our 3D life now. If you have a dream, fucking go for it. Don't let fear stand in your way. Don't let logic get in the way. Don't let practicality get in the way. If you have a vision that ignites your heart, fucking go for it. And we all know it's not gonna be like, okay, yeah, I took the risk. I'm gonna start my the this healing business. Let's say my heart, you know, Jesus says if you feel like you are a healer, drop everything that you are doing and become a healer. And again, healer doesn't mean like, hey, I'm gonna fix you. You could be a healer as a police officer, you could be a healer as a chef, you could be a healer as an accountant, uh, because healing is just loving. So if you have a call to bring a part of you into expression, maybe it's a poet. Like, oh, you can't make a living as a poet. Fuck you can. David White is a poet. He makes a great living. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do. If you have a vision in your heart, fucking go for it. You owe it to yourself. And of course, in that journey, because it is so true and like sensitive and vulnerable, but strong at the same time, you're gonna be challenged. You're gonna be tested. The limiting beliefs are gonna come up. You are gonna face a ton of failure and roadblocks and people that don't believe in your dream, they don't see and feel what you see and feel. But fucking go for it. Do not quit. Keep going. That vision you have exists. Jesthu is telling us right here, it is real. And it's calling you to shed the limiting beliefs, the misunderstandings you have about yourself as not enough, and it life that life is unfair, life doesn't support you, whatever the misunderstandings that each of us have. That's what your dream is actually calling you to become who you really are. It's not so much about the goal of being the millionaire or being the famous person or making X amount of money or whatever. It's not about the goal that is inspires us. It's about who we are being in that version of ourselves, in that reality. We are fearless and courageous, and we know who we are.
