Do you know what it means to be a wise creative? Hey y'all, welcome back to the show. I'm your host, aaliyah Cheyenne, and today I want to talk about what it means to be a wise creative. This is a solo episode and an audio-only experience, and I'm so grateful that you're here Now. Let's get into it. And I'm so grateful that you're here Now, let's get into it. Being a wise creative is not just about being a productive creative not just a high-performing one, but a wise one, because wisdom real wisdom shows up when we learn to honor our rhythm, when we trust our timing, when we create from alignment, not anxiety. So I want to share six reflections that have helped me to show up more wisely in my own creative life. I'm going to use these reflections to also connect them to past episodes, in case you want to keep the conversation going and to dig in a little deeper. Let's kick it off with the first one, honoring your seasons. Just like nature, I've come to accept that I don't bloom year round, and neither does nature. There are times when I'm on fire with ideas and flow, writing, recording, sharing, connecting, and other times when I just need stillness, silence, rest. Being a wise creative means tuning into that cycle, asking myself am I in a planting season, a blooming one, or am I just lying low for a bit, letting something deeper grow underneath the surface? Rest Without Guilt, why Doing Nothing Might Be your Most Productive Choice, where I explore the power of letting ourselves be exactly where we are, without shame or rush. I even discuss honoring our seasons like nature, on episode 83, the Revolutionary Power of Floriculture, featuring Black Flower Market founder Himari Norman. Power of Floriculture featuring Black Flower Market founder Himari Norman. My second reflection honoring your energy cycle. Now, this one is so important. This is all about body wisdom, so let's talk about it Now.
Aliya Cheyanne:For those of us who experience a period cycle, our energy and creativity shifts throughout the month. For me personally, and I know for many of us, some weeks I'm bursting with social energy and just ready to take on the world, and other weeks I need the complete opposite. Sometimes my body demands privacy and space to go inward. I've learned to honor the ebbs and flow of my cycle and to create with my cycle, not against it, and honestly, this has saved me from burnout more times than I can count. I also love utilizing tools like human design and beyond to better understand and harness the power of my personal energy to do my best work. Check out episode 40, unlocking Potential with Personality Tests, and episode 48, achieving Spiritual Balance and Success, featuring Fabi Cordero, where I speak to the sacred rhythm between our bodies and our work.
Aliya Cheyanne:On to reflection three knowing when to pause and pivot. There's so much power in knowing when to stop, when to change your mind, when to let something go, not because it failed, but because it no longer fits who you're becoming, fits who you're becoming. I used to think pausing was unacceptable. Now I see it as an act of courage, as an act of honoring myself and my needs and my creativity. Wisdom is knowing that your purpose can evolve, and so can you. You'll feel this in episode 75. Your purpose isn't fixed. It's okay when your path changes. Or, episode 78, your old dreams no longer fit who you're becoming. Or maybe in episode 60, allowing your purpose to evolve, how to embrace change with Grace. And especially in episode 53, overcoming Adversity and Redefining Success the Power of Reinvention, featuring Shannara Pierce. If you've been questioning a path or even just craving something new, this is your permission slip to pivot.
Aliya Cheyanne:My fourth reflection is all about honoring your personal mission and aligning with opportunities. I used to say yes to everything every project, every opportunity, every ask, every outing, even if it pulled me away from my deeper mission. Fomo used to get me all the time and sis still be getting me but I'm doing better at saying no, because wisdom whispers. Not everything is for you. Being a wise creative means getting so rooted in your purpose that you start recognizing what's truly aligned and gently turning away from what's not. If this resonates, definitely revisit episode 79, cultivating Purpose Through Podcasting Reflections on Creativity, community and Connection. Or episode 58, the Power of an Anchoring Force the power of an anchoring force finding strength in unshakable conviction. And episode 63, how to recognize when you're out of alignment key signs and how to realign your life. Y'all, we're not here to do all the things, just the right ones.
Aliya Cheyanne:My fifth reflection on being a wise creative is all about learning your skills and talents and discovering your zone of genius. Wisdom means really knowing yourself. I mean really knowing yourself, what you're good at, what lights you up, what you could do in your sleep. That still somehow feels magical every time. That's your zone of genius and we all have one. You don't have to be good at everything. You don't need to monetize every hobby. I know we live in a time period where it's like every side thing, every hobby, every interest, we have to turn it into content. We have to find a way to monetize it. But I want you to sit in the feeling and in the knowing of honoring the gifts that come to you naturally and trusting that there's a place for them. In episode 40, unlocking Potential with Personality Tests and Self-Development. In episode 42, astrology and Business how to Use Astrology for Success. I talk about this dance between self-awareness, self-trust and innate power.
Aliya Cheyanne:Now, before we close this out, we absolutely have to get to reflection number six, which is probably my favorite one, which is embracing creativity as a spiritual practice. Whatever your beliefs are, when we are expressing our own creativity, that is the rawest form of our connection to and with the divine. Being a wise, creative means remembering that your creativity is sacred. It's not just a skill, it's a spiritual act. We are all born with inherent, boundless creative energy. Whether you call that God, spirit source or something else entirely, we are co-creators with the creator. Every time we write, we paint, we dance, we sing, we build or even dream, we are participating in that divine current.
Aliya Cheyanne:I talked about this in episode 52, timeless Wisdom for Modern Creatives, a conversation with Vanessa Aldrich, where we explored the ways creativity and spirituality intertwine, and also in episode 31, sensuality, spirituality and Creativity, featuring LaVon Briggs, where we honored the body as a sacred vessel for inspiration and divine connection. This reflection is a reminder that your creativity is not just for profit, or for productivity or performance. It's a way to commune with your higher self, a way to listen deeply, a way to commune with your higher self, a way to listen deeply, a way to heal and sometimes a way to pray. So whether you're lighting a candle before you journal, meditating before you write or simply letting inspiration hit you while you're washing the dishes, know that every moment of creation is sacred. You are aligned with something greater. You are a wise, powerful, spirit-led creative, and there's nothing more beautiful or more powerful than that. So if you're listening to this episode and you're still wondering what being a wise creative looks like for you, or what it feels like, maybe start by asking yourself some important questions. What season am I in right now? What is my body asking of me? What is no longer aligned? What is my body asking of me? What is no longer aligned? What is my creative mission. What are my natural gifts and am I honoring them? You don't have to have all of the answers today. You just have to be willing to listen to the wisdom within, and I trust you to do that for yourself. And on that note, I'm also honoring the season that I'm in.
Aliya Cheyanne:I don't have a huge podcast. This is an independent show and it's a small but growing show and community. Sometimes that can make securing guests tough and I'm working on my inspiration for more solo episodes. I'm so incredibly grateful for the amazing people with much bigger platforms than mine who have taken a chance to be in conversation with me on this show. I often center what I'd love to hear and what I think my audience would love to know from guests, and I do my best to make the show feel like a safe and sacred space to go deep, and I'm so grateful for everyone who's gone there with me as I keep working to have new guests on the show and coming up with solo episodes that I feel are valuable to you. I'm honoring the season that the show is in and I'm planning to take a brief pause in the very near future.
Aliya Cheyanne:All of the back-end things for the podcast are a lot to handle solo and I'm not in a position to outsource anything for the podcast at this stage, so I have to honor my energy when it comes to producing this show. This is a huge risk. Every time I do it, every time I take a break because listeners don't always come back, but I trust that the folks who find value in the show will continue to follow it and that you will join me again on the other side of the break. In the meantime and in between time, stay tuned for a few more brand new episodes dropping bi-weekly in the next couple of months, and be sure to keep up with me over on Substack at the Feminine Urge to Create and Prolific Readers.
