Blessings, friends and family. Here is your We Family Radio National Weather Update. Good morning, Michelle. It's Saturday, December 13th, 2025, and there's a lot of active and dangerous weather to cover across the U.S. today. Let's start on the West Coast.

Good morning, Keith. That's right, let's jump in. Out in Washington State, the situation remains serious with ongoing major river flooding. Rivers are still running very high, and the ground is saturated, so the risk of further flooding and mudslides is still a major concern. It's critical for residents in affected areas to heed the advice of local officials and avoid all flooded roadways.

Absolutely. Now let's talk about the Arctic blast. This isn't just a cold snap. It's a massive dome of Arctic air plunging south. We're seeing record cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills all the way from the northern high plains down to the mid-south and stretching into the mid-Atlantic. When we say dangerous wind chills, we mean that the combination of cold air and wind can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 to 15 minutes. This is life-threatening cold that requires serious precautions.

And layered right on top of that cold is a band of snow moving from the Midwest into the central Appalachians. This will undoubtedly cause significant travel disruptions. We're talking slick roads, reduced visibility, and probable airline delays. If you're traveling through that corridor, it's essential to check road conditions before you leave and allow plenty of extra time.

And speaking of travel, the Northeast I-95 corridor is bracing for its first significant winter storm of the season. For many, this will be the first taste of slick roads and accumulating snow. After a relatively mild start to the season, this storm will be a real wake-up call, likely leading to major disruptions for travel and shipping.

With such widespread and severe weather, it's a good time to talk about some important winter safety precautions. It's not just about the forecast, it's about being prepared.

Absolutely. Community is so important at times like these. Please check on your neighbors, especially the elderly or those who live alone. A simple phone call can make a world of difference. And let's not forget our furry family members. Bring pets indoors. If it's too cold for you, it's too cold for them. Please stay safe and informed about your local conditions. Friends and family, with these severe weather conditions, like Keith said, it is especially important to remember to always pray for and check on the elderly and bring pets inside. And to add to that, those who have experienced any loss and the homeless. Please stay off the roads if at all possible. Moreover, if you must be on the roads, listen to your local authorities. Triple A offers the following driving tips. Avoid using cruise control in wintry conditions. Steer in the direction of a skid so when your wheels regain traction, you don't have to overcorrect to stay in your lane. Accelerate and decelerate slowly. Increase following distance to 8 to 10 seconds. If possible, don't stop when going uphill. If visibility is severely limited due to a whiteout, pull off the road to a safe place and do not drive until conditions improve. And avoid pulling off onto the shoulder unless it is an absolute emergency. Limited visibility means other vehicles can't see yours on the shoulder.
