We follow the tension back to Genesis 3, reading the fall not as distant theology but as the script the enemy still runs—question, distort, entice, isolate—and the mercy God still offers: a covering and an open invitation to come out of hiding.

We share why the serpent’s strategy remains so effective, how pride often sounds like rational self-reliance, and why shame drives us toward fig leaves—quick fixes, curated selves, busy hearts. Then we pivot to the hope embedded in the text: God moves toward the hidden, replaces our brittle solutions with a costly covering, and teaches us to fight lies with truth. You’ll hear a simple but demanding practice for the week—be unashamed. Not reckless, but honest. Bring your whole story to God and choose His will in the next small step.

Listen, reflect, and share with someone who needs courage to come out of hiding today. If this resonates, follow the show, leave a review, and pass it on to a friend who’s ready to live unashamed.

PTSD Workshop Sparks Genesis Focus

SPEAKER_00

Yesterday I attended a workshop on PTSD, and it was such a good workshop, but it brought me right back to our chosen text. Talk about PTSD, honey. We all know the story, we all have uh lived the story. It still uh ricochets even today. So listen, our chosen text we've been diving into for the past couple of

The Fall As Our Shared Story

SPEAKER_00

weeks, is this Genesis chapter three. We've been couched on this fall of man for a little bit. Talk about PTSD, honey. This is some PTSD, okay? Because I know a little bit about falling. Do you know a little bit about falling? See, I can read about their falling, but I know about my own falling, okay? I don't have to just read theirs. I know about my own things that have separated me from God. When I look back on those things, oh, I have to be grateful for his grace. I have to be grateful for his mercy. I have to be grateful for his long suffering with me, okay? See, our grandparents may have kicked it off, but we all have followed suit.

The Playbook Metaphor Takes Shape

SPEAKER_00

But this morning, we're gonna be talking about the playbook, okay? Because there's a playbook on the field. There's a playbook in this scripture that we are focused on this morning, and we're gonna talk about that playbook. See, because the opposition has a playbook that we need to know about, but we also have a playbook that we need to know about. Are y'all getting my football references this morning? Okay, it's football season. That's what my head is. Hi, good morning. So listen, we're gonna talk about this playbook because the playbook is important. We have to know when we get on that field, what are we gonna do? When we're challenged with the opposition, what are we gonna do when we are stuck in the game and feeling stuck and can't move forward? How do we press on? Just like I'm pressing on this morning. How are we gonna press on? Listen, so let's go ahead and dive into the scripture this morning. I'm here for 14 more minutes. And listen, we're gonna get at it, get after it. So let's pray and go before the word of the Lord

Prayer And Framing The Stakes

SPEAKER_00

this morning. Father, we thank you. Father, we thank you. Father, we thank you. For you are worthy to be praised, you are worthy to be edified. And just with this simple breath that you have given me in my lungs, I shall declare your praises. And I hope that people are declaring your praises with me this morning. You left a playbook, but we gotta open it. We have to learn the place, we have to learn how to walk this out. Help us this morning to walk it out and walk it out well, Lord. We thank you and we give you praise. Teach us this morning as only you can in Jesus' name. Amen and amen. Come on, let's read this word of the Lord

Reading Genesis 3 Aloud

SPEAKER_00

this morning. As I mentioned, we're going from Genesis chapter 3. The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, Did God really say you must not eat of the fruit from any of the trees in the garden? Y'all remember this text. We've done read it a few times. Of course, we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, the woman replies. It's only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. That teaches us something right there, but I ain't gonna stop there. God says, You must not eat it or even touch it. If you do, you will die. You won't die, the serpent replied to the woman. You see this playbook coming to the surface, you won't die. It's a lie in the atmosphere, it's a lie in the building, okay? You won't die, the serpent replied to the woman. God knows that your eyes will be open as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil. The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it too. Now, listen, ooh, that's I'm getting excited even as I read it. Look, the word of the Lord will get you excited. That's why I could be excited at 6 a.m. this morning. I'm not thinking about my stomach, I'm thinking about this word of the Lord.

The Three P’s: Position, Power, Pride

SPEAKER_00

So we've been talking about the three P's that jumps out in this scripture. One, position. We talked about that a couple of weeks ago, two, power, we talked about that last week. But this week, this week, we're gonna be couching on pride, that third P that jumps out in this scripture, pride. And as we examine this brief text and we talk about pride, this morning, we're not starting with Eve. We're not even starting with Adam.

Pride’s Origin Story: The Enemy

SPEAKER_00

When we're talking about pride, we're gonna talk about somebody else this morning. We're talking about somebody else. See, we gave Eve audience, we even talked a little bit about Adam, but today we're gonna be talking about that other person that's in the text. We're talking about the enemy this morning. Oh, he has a playbook, y'all. And we got a notice playbook. See, the pride showed up way before Eve was in the garden. The devil he showed us just what it looked like. See, many scholars have really identified, and we can identify from the word of the tech in the text, there was something going on before they stepped foot in the earth. See, do y'all know that? That there's this earthly realm, but there's also this spiritual realm. There's something we don't see that's going on, there's something that we don't see that is happening around us. See, there's some spiritual worlds, spiritual realms that we can't take part of with our natural eye. But oh, when we get in the spirit, y'all. When we get in the spirit, honey, we can sometimes take part of that spiritual realm. See, if you spend a little time with the Lord, you start hearing him talk to you. No, we can't see him, but Lord God, we can hear him. See, there are some spiritual things that we can take part of when we get in the presence of the Lord, and there was something happening with this enemy that happened long ago. See, scholars say he was this angel in heaven, he was already there before we were here, okay? And he was gifted in many ways, even beautiful, even beautiful, but he got his mind set on something. He got his mind set on not being a created being, but being a being that creates. See, he got his mind not

Spiritual Realm And Hidden Warfare

SPEAKER_00

set on being a created being, he got his mind set on being the creator. He got his mind set on God's throne. Listen, you know what? Ain't nobody can sit on the throne except God Himself. There's only one God. Listen, that's an announcement for some of us. There is only one God. See, we don't live in a polytheistic world. There is only one God, one God and three persons. But I could go there, but I ain't this morning. Because listen, that's some good, good, good spiritual knowledge that we serve one God, the highest God, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. We serve Yahweh this morning, Abba Father, who loves us this morning, who looks down from heaven, from his throne, only one throne. And he looks down from that throne and loves on us in a way that he has drawn us to ourselves. But the playbook of the enemy is to draw, draw us away from him, to draw us away from his presence, to draw us away from the foot of his throne. The playbook of the enemy is to set our will against God's will. Because guess what? That's where his thought was. He wanted to set his will above God's will. He wanted his own will. You know the story? He got kicked out of heaven, and his homies got kicked out with him. And here we find him tempting Eve to boast her will against God's will. And he was successful, y'all. He got not only was he kicked out of heaven, he got her kicked out of the garden and her homie too. See, he had them right where they wanted him, he had them right where he wanted them, kicked out, removed

The Enemy’s Will Versus God’s Will

SPEAKER_00

from the presence of God, removed from the place of God that he has set them in. Do you know this is a truth for us? That sometimes when we lean into our own will, when we start listening to that enemy's playbook, it starts separating us from God. It starts separating us from his presence. And listen, sometimes we separate our own selves. See, this enemy was successful, y'all, and I can couch here all day long because so many times in my life I've wanted my will instead of the will of God. I wanted my will to supersede God's will. Even this morning, something I just wanted to stay in bed. My stomach was hurt. I said, Oh, I could just stay in bed and not become before God's people and tell them just what God wants them to know. My will wanted to be exalted upon more than God's will. And last Sunday I struggled with the same thing. What am I saying to you? Every day it could be a struggle, but every day we must die daily to our flesh. We must choose God's

Daily Struggle To Choose God’s Way

SPEAKER_00

will every single day, and that's not easy, saints. That's not easy. Do y'all ever struggle with your own will and God's will? Do y'all ever struggle with wanting some things He says you can't have? Wanting to do things that you know is against the word of the Lord that you shouldn't do. You know you want to do it, but it's not God's will or God's way for your life. Yet you really want to do it. Yet it looks beautiful, yet it looks tempting, it looks appetizing, it looks good. You want to lean in instead of run out. It seems good at first. Am I testifying this morning? Yes, I am. Because listen, many things have seemed good at first. No harm, no foul. But then when I partake, then when I do it, then when I walk it out, oof, I say to myself, I should have never done that. I say to myself, why did I get involved in that? I knew better. I'm testifying this morning. Anyone else can testify with me? But listen, that's the playbook. That's what the enemy does, saints. He starts off with a lie and he keeps on lying. That's the playbook. He starts off with a lie and keeps on lying. He starts telling us, whispering to us, this looks good. This looks fun. Ain't nobody gonna be hurt. You can do it if you want to. See, he starts off with a lie and keeps on line.

The Lie, The Lure, And Self-Deception

SPEAKER_00

He can't Williams that thing, okay? No shade to cat, but he can't Williams that thing. He starts off with a lie and he throws a little truth into it. So it has you questioning should I or shouldn't I? Could I and not get caught? We start lying to ourselves. See, he don't show up like the enemy, y'all. He don't show up like the enemy. See, even the text talks about a serpent, it doesn't name him the devil, but we know through study it's the devil. He shows up in different ways. He shows up in ways we can't recognize him. Do you hear me? Eve was talking to a serpent, but she was talking to the devil. He showed up as an enemy of disguise. But oh, when you know that playbook, y'all, you can see him coming. You can see, oh, you may look like this person on my job, but I know who you are. You may look like this or that, but I know who you are. See, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, y'all. That's what the scripture says. Oh, I could go on. I'm running on with time. But listen, his pump fake is smooth, okay? His pump fake is smooth, and we gotta know that. See, the devil got her thinking away in a way that her will was better than God's will, just like he did in heaven. Isaiah 14, verses 13 said, You said in your heart, I will ascend to the heavens. We're talking about the devil, y'all. I will raise my throne above the stars of God. I will sit enthroned on the mount of the assembly, on the utmost height of Mount Xafon. I will ascend above the top of the cloud. I will make myself like the most high. We don't want to make ourselves like the most high.

Disguises: Wrestling Beyond Flesh And Blood

SPEAKER_00

There's only one most high. Okay? So listen, saints, this is the pride of life, the desire to exalt your rule instead of God's rule, to put your pride on the throne and not God on the throne. And listen, she felt like her husband. But the thing that really sticks out to me in this text is that they saw themselves changed. They saw themselves changed. That's what the word of God says. And listen, as I read that, my heart hurt. Because sometimes saints, ooh Lord, when we get involved in something, when we start living a certain kind of life and living a certain way, we look in the mirror and see ourselves changed. We sit with our own selves and see how that thing has ravaged us. We see our own self-change. We don't see ourselves in the image of God anymore. We start seeing ourselves as a sinner. We start seeing ourselves as a as a person that's not worthy of God in relationship with him. We start seeing ourselves in a way that we not worthy of his grace and mercy, y'all.

Isaiah 14 And The Pride Of Life

SPEAKER_00

See, Adam and Eve saw themselves changed. Oh, but thanks be to God. He sees us as his child, he sees us as his creation. You know what? You got children, and sometimes they do things like I tell my kids, who raised you? I tell them all this, who raised you? You ain't my child acting like this. But I know in my heart that they still my child, I still look on them with the love that I looked on them when they was birthed out of me. Are you hearing me this morning? See, when you see yourselves different, you gotta press on to the version of you that God sees, the version of you that God loves, the version of you that He anointed, the version of you that He blessed, the version of you that He gives grace. His image in you. See, when you do something and get involved with something, as I'm rapping to the end, when you see your own self-change, you gotta press on. Because that breaks my heart. Sometimes when I talk to people and they say, Oh, I ain't good enough to go to church, or I'm gonna go to when I'm gonna accept the Lord when I get my life together. Listen, you'll never get your life together. He gets your life. Adam and Eve couldn't get themselves together. He got them together. Because the text further says that they covered themselves, but listen, and this is the good part. They covered themselves and they hear from God. But God said, Where are you? He called out to them. He knew what they had done,

Seeing Ourselves Changed—And God’s View

SPEAKER_00

but he still called out. And that's some good news this morning. That no matter what you've done, he still is calling out to you this morning. And you may try to cover yourself with some fig leaves, but he covers you just like he covered them. He removed those fig leaves and covered and made a sacrifice and covered them with animal skins. But listen, he also made a sacrifice in Jesus. See, he didn't cut, he covers them not only with his love, his grace, and his mercy, but he covers them in the blood of Jesus. Hallelujah. That he no longer sees them, he sees his own son who sacrificed, he covers them in the blood. Anybody covered in the blood this morning? So what's the Wednesday word of the day? Get to the point, sister. Okay, get to the point. Well, I'm gonna get to the point. And then we're gonna go on in our day and walk on in the Lord. See, before they changed, they were fully transparent with God. They didn't have nothing on them. They came just how they were, fully open, fully in relationship, unashamed. And after they sinned and covered themselves from God, they tried to cover themselves, but the Lord covered them. So what am I saying? Listen, we do the same thing. We hide from truth and we hide from relationship. We hide from the church, we hide from transparency because just like them, we get so ashamed. So my word of the week for you to hold on to is be unashamed. Get naked, okay?

Covered By Sacrifice, Not Fig Leaves

SPEAKER_00

That's the word. Get naked, not in the way you think it, okay? But what I am saying, get naked, go to him in transparency, show up to him flaws and all, honey. Let it all hang out because he knows anyway. Strip yourself of pride, strip yourself of shame, strip yourself of guilt. Go to him in nakedness, confess it and move on because he's faithful and just to forgive. May God bless you, may he keep you, and may he continue to whisper into your ear this week and this morning. Because he's calling to you. Don't miss how much he loves you. God bless you. Have a wonderful day. Bye bye.
