Hey Stories, this episode is perfect for you to listen to on your own or with a grown up. Enjoy! Hi, my name is Pearl. At Stardust Squad, we respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather, create, explore, and dream, the Gunnaikurnai people. We pay our respects to their elders past and present and recognize their ongoing connection to the land, the seas, and the skies. We acknowledge that this land has been a place of learning and storytelling for thousands of years and honor the wisdom and stories of Indigenous people. As we continue on our Stardust adventures, we commit to building a sense of belonging. Welcoming and respect for all cultures, identities and beliefs. May we walk gently upon this land, guided by the styles and spirits of those who came before us. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. Stardust squad we shine so bright, twinkling in the sky at night. Hand in hand we laugh and play, dreaming big every day. Sparkle high and sparkle low, together we let our magic grow. Girls of strength, girls of light, Stardust squad we take flight. Clap once, clap twice, then spin around. In Stardust squad we're safe and sound, shining strong we lift each other. Sisters of stars like none other. Welcome to the Stardust Squad pod, a space in the galaxies to empower, inspire and encourage you girls and your families. I'm Evie, creator of the Stardust Squad and I believe now more than ever we need to be empowering and supporting our girls to have bold voices and big hearts. This is a little but very important episode for you Starries. A little message for you all around friendships. I'm talking to so many girls at the moment who are finding friendships really hard, especially with the new school year going back. And so I wanted to give you an episode with 10 things to think about when it comes to friendships. Hopefully, something in this grabs your attention. Hopefully, it gives you something to think about. And hopefully, it's a bit of a conversation starter for someone that you'd like to share this with. So, let's dive into it. Number one. Let's make kindness our automatic response. You don't have to be friends with everyone, but you can be kind to everyone. Number two. You don't know what's going on for other people at home or outside of school. So remember that everyone has parts of their lives that you don't know about. You never know what hard things someone is going through. Number three. Your hurtful words might not seem like a big deal to you, but could be absolutely devastating for someone else. Something unkind that you might say might stay with them for a long time. Choose your words carefully. If it's not helpful or necessary, then just don't say it. Number four. If you see something happening to someone else that's making them upset, be brave and stand up for them. Or, if that feels far too scary, check in on that person afterwards to know that they have someone around who cares. Number five. Friendships need nurturing and you need to put in the work. You have to show up as a good friend if you want to keep the friendships that you have. Sometimes, this will be easier than others. Number six, you won't be friends with everyone, and that's okay. Number seven, pretending to be something you're not won't make you find your true friends faster. In fact, it will actually make it harder because they won't be able to see you for the wonderfully unique human that you are. Number eight, you're allowed to protect your own feelings. You can be strong and firm without hurting someone else's feelings. And you can remove yourself from any situation if you need to. Number nine. You'll find your true friends. The ones that laugh at the same jokes as you, and enjoy the same things as you. They're out there waiting for you to find them. And lastly, number ten. A random act of kindness can really make someone's day. Something as simple as a smile or offering someone the seat next to you can shine rainbows on their rainy day. You might just be the reason that someone had a better day. I hope that has been helpful, Starry. And I hope that you'll be thinking of those things as you're navigating friendships and the different people in your class and in your school in the next little while. Remember to be kind. Thank you so much for listening. Remember if you've got a celebration to share, or if you've got a topic that you'd love me to talk about, you can text.
