Hey, ladies, welcome to the Single Moms United podcast, where we cannot spell United without the letter U and Y-O-U. If this is your first time visiting, welcome. If you are a repeat listener, thank you, thank you, thank you for your loyalty. Hey, ladies, I'm going to keep it brief and to the point. Again today, remember, I told you I dabble in poetry and I just enjoy it. It's a stress relief for me. And so I say I'm Maya Angelou, watered down and probably a whole lot of water, right? But anyway, show me some love. Show me some love because I'm trying, right, and that's what this is all about as I continue to try to encourage and motivate you.

Single mom, from my own experience as a single mom of two, of getting out there and hustling every day so the kids can have what they asked for, most of the time, right, and there were a lot of sacrifices made, but that's a part of parenting, right. But I'm not going to go down or get off that exit. I'm going to try to stay focused here. And so, as I mentioned before, I do dabble in poetry, and so today I wrote one around career versus job, so to speak, and hopefully this will encourage you. And if it does. All right, so here we go. So when it comes to work, it doesn't have to hurt. Many of us go to work to earn, but the reality is we should learn. You will never regret developing a new skill set. The number of opportunities for you to excel is more than anyone can ever tell. Go ahead, take a chance to better understand, be determined to develop a new skill and make it a part of your daily drill. Your independence relies on making it on your own. A paycheck here and there won't necessarily get you anywhere. We have gifts and talents that we don't even know about because they are covered with self-doubt Now. Jobs will come and go, but a career will help you mentally grow. Be steadfast, be strong. It's your children that you are bringing along. They are watching every step you take so they can reciprocate. So, mom, don't give up now. Just give it time and soon, yes, ma'am, they will ask you to take a bow.

It's time to develop your worth and conquer your fear and learn how to volunteer. Try to volunteer each week. You don't know who you might meet. The love you've been looking for might be right behind that volunteer door. Your passion may be cooking or cleaning, and that's fine as long as it doesn't feel demeaning. On the other hand, you may be technology savvy. This day and age, that's so classy. All in all, single mom, follow your gut to help you get out of that rut.

It's time to elevate your mind. Take action by pursuing your passion. So don't run or walk. It's time to enhance your talk. Promise is made, promises kept. It's the path of getting the right help. Choose you to renew If you change your mindset and your goals.

This is how success will unfold. Goals, this is how success will unfold. Pick one, two or three tasks, as long as there's no sighs or gasps. Yes, this may seem overwhelming, but in the end it will be telling. It's the pursuit of your dreams that you should look to redeem. It's the pursuit of your dreams that you should look to redeem. It's a skill you have to build. They say knowledge is power. So don't delay the hour. Go and get your degree if you think that will make you happy. Keep in mind not all success is defined by a piece of paper. Much of who we are has been defined by our creator. You may think it was mom and dad. Yes, they did play a role, but God was in control.

Take this time and pursue your career dreams. Everyone has to start somewhere in order to get there. Stay woke, life is no joke. Having a career path should be your ultimate task. Listen, ladies, it's not about how you acquired the single mom title. Just don't make it an excuse for you to be idle. Your personal situation will help you define your determination.
