Welcome back to the HEAR HER podcast!

In this episode, Heather is joined by Liz Childs Kelly for a soulful, embodied conversation about the sacred feminine, surrender, and remembering the wisdom that lives within us.

Together, we explore vulnerability and authenticity as spiritual practice, reconnecting with the Earth as a source of grounding and power, and how ancient feminine wisdom offers a radically different way of understanding power in these uncertain times. This conversation is an invitation to slow down, soften, and come home—to yourself, to the Earth, and to what truly matters.

In This Episode, We Explore:

  • Vulnerability and authenticity as pathways to connection and resilience
  • The sacred feminine as lived, embodied wisdom
  • Sitting in darkness and stillness as a return to inner knowing
  • Earth-based practices for grounding during fear and overwhelm
  • Surrender as strength—not weakness—and how it opens new possibilities
  • Motherhood, letting go, and trusting a larger unfolding
  • Community as essential medicine on the healing journey

The first time I saw today's guest's name, it was in an email from a dear friend of mine that read. This woman has a book all about the sacred feminine, and I thought of you, I can't go tonight, but maybe you can bluebird, a local store was hosting a book signing and unfortunately, I was not able to attend. But this email led me to her book, which led me to this beautiful conversation I'm about to share with you, which led me to Chai lattes at a local coffee shop. And most recently I attended her Unbound retreat right here in our Be Beautiful Little Town of Crozet. The retreat centered around six aspects of feminine power. It was an incredible day, and I am truly feeling more aligned with my own power. Liz lives with her family in central Virginia, in the shadow of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains You are in for such a treat today. My lovely listeners. I am so excited to share this intuitive conversation with you. Okay, my lovelies. Here you go.

Heather

Liz, thank you so much for joining me today on the Hear Her Podcast. It's so wonderful to be here with you.

Liz

Thank you for having me. It's an honor to be here with you,

Heather

so I always love to do a little bit of grounding right before we jump into our conversation to help both of us come to the present moment. And of course, the lovely listeners can also come present with us. I invite you to close your eyes and just notice where your breath is in this moment, letting go of anything that was happening before you landed here with us, inviting you to feel your feet on the ground if you're able to soften your belly and allow your breath to deepen and slow in whatever way feels good for you. Allowing that breath to bring you into your body a little bit deeper into this moment with Liz and I, and I'm seeing this beautiful illumination in the heart space. So if it feels good for you, you can place your hands or both of your hands on your heart. Breathe. I'm recording this episode on Earth Day, feeling a strong presence of Mother Earth in all of her glory in this moment. Feeling a connection from my own heart to hers, inviting you to breathe and feel into that connection for yourself.

Beautiful.

Heather

And this typically doesn't happen, but there's some inner inquiry being invited. There's a little invitation. So the invitation here is as you connect to this mother energy, this earth, mother energy within you, around you, seems there's a message. A message for you, for each of us individually. And so I'm gonna give us just a moment to be quiet and to feel into that connection with Great Mother, mother Earth, mama Gaia, and be open to receiving whatever message she has for you today. Remembering to breathe. It's coming up that maybe someone in the audience, some of the listeners may feel. What does that look like to receive a message? Whatever comes up for you is how you receive the message. It could be something that you just know in your heart. It could be a feeling in your body. It could be something you're seeing in your inner eye or hearing in your inner ear, and so just taking a moment to remind us all that we receive so differently. And that is such a beautiful thing, and whatever way you're receiving is valid. Taking one more deep breath together. And if your eyes have been closed, inviting you to open them and land here in this present moment with us. Thank you. Thank you for being here. Liz. Thank you for being here, listeners. I am so excited for this conversation with this beautiful human. Who has written this incredible book home to her and has a podcast. I love the book, I love the podcast and have had my own journey with the sacred feminine, and I'm just really looking forward to, to speaking with you today, Liz.

Liz

Thank you so much, Heather, and thank you for that grounding. I love a good midday pause. I aspire to them on a regular basis. The word aspire,

Heather

that one resonated deeply for me because. I do this work because I need this work, and I definitely don't have the time to pause in the middle of the day every day. So thank you. It was really beautiful for me as well. Uh, listeners, you know how we start the podcast if you've been listening for a, a while now, and Liz, that is with the question, how do you spread your magic in the world?

Liz

Oh gosh. Wow. What a question to start with. How do I spread my magic in the world? Um, I think how I wanna answer that today. The word that's arising. Two words is vulnerability and authenticity. And, um, I, I think these are my combined North Star and sometimes the hardest thing for, for me to not just, to, not necessarily access, but to share. Um. If I can get to that place then, and I'm feeling it as I'm saying it to you, like in the heart space where there's something so raw and so tender and so pure, and it needs to be put out for reasons that I don't know. I can't really say why, but it needs to be put out. I have found time and time again if I am willing to do that. Beautiful things happen and people seem to respond to it. And when I first started writing, my love of the sacred feminine felt so, and I'm getting a little emotional talking about it. My love for her felt so personal, um, and so deeply vulnerable because I was coming from. Business world. It was coming from a deeply rational, logical place. And so this was so different than anything I'd grown up with. It was so different than the values that had been instilled in me. And so to speak about it and to speak about a love and a longing that deep felt so intensely vulnerable that the first few things that I published online, I, I'd feel sick, I'd feel nauseous, that I had put myself out there in that way, and. Every time I did, I would get something back. From the universe in the form of a connection to someone that meant so much to me, or a friend that I didn't know would respond this way. A friend that I thought maybe would reject it, would say, oh my God, Liz, I, this, I needed this. You had no idea how much I needed it. And so it started teaching me that that place of vulnerability and authenticity and that willingness to mind the depths, not just for myself but to, to, to bear myself in that way. It was magic and was needed. And it's gotten easier in some ways because I've got the history now of understanding what happens when I do that. And in some ways it's still really hard because, you know, to stand up and be seen for what we care so deeply about. I mean, it's, it's a vulnerable place to be. Scary.

Heather

Absolutely. Yeah. That's a beautiful way to spread magic. And it's, it's not easy and it can be scary and I feel, especially as women, um, we've gone through so much of, I. Not wanting to be seen and not wanting to be heard, and our vulnerability and our sensitivity being seen as weakness. Uh, and I just think it's so beautiful that that's how you answered the question, because when we open ourselves in that way, it gives permission, and creates like a safer space. I feel safer for others to do the same.

Yeah.

Heather

Thank you for the light you're shining. That's so beautiful. So

thank you. And I, I think it builds resilience in us too, and a, and a trust in ourselves. Like when we do that and we find out, oh, we, I'm okay. I am actually okay being, not only am I okay being seen, but people need this and want this, and this is how I develop deeply authentic relationships. It's a, there's like a building up and a, you know, of self and trusting. Trusting that we actually how we are is just fine,

Heather

truly. Mm-hmm. And trusting ourselves is not easy listeners. Not at all. It is a if, for me anyway, a continuous practice for sure. And in this moment, I wonder intuitively, what's coming up for you, for anyone out there who may be listening that is struggling to trust themselves, to trust what's coming up, to trust, what they, what they feel they wanna share and be vulnerable about.

You know, I, I think what I, what comes up as you ask that question is, um, I think that we need to decouple any expectation of. Ease in doing that. Like even as I said, you know, I, I get this feedback back that yes, I'm on the right path. You can also get feedback back that's like, whoa, what are you doing? Who are you, you're not what I thought, or, um, now that I'm, I'm pulling out this authenticity, oh, I might have to realign my life to, to match it. And that is really. That can be really scary. And the scary doesn't mean it's wrong, you know, like it's, the scary is maybe it points you in the right direction, you know? If it, if it weren't scary, why would you wanna do it in the first, you know? Yes. Um, so I, I think that there's a, um, and I feel like I'm speaking very much in the abstract, but yeah, there's a, a, a need to. To be able to be courage enough to take those steps anyways, even if it does feel really scary.

Heather

Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm. Yeah. Oh, that's so beautiful. That resonates very deeply for me, and as I close my eyes, I'm seeing sacred feminine coming across, and I think that's coming

up

Heather

because it's. You know, maybe there are listeners out there who have not experienced anything to do with the sacred feminine, and so I would love for you to share what that means to you. What, what is the sacred feminine for you?

Yeah. Oh gosh. And you know, that's a, it's funny, I write in my book that. Trying to define the divine is like trying to pour the ocean into a square box. Yes. So cute, isn't it? Like think we can explain this. Yeah. Um, and, and so in a way that I wrote my whole book to kind of explain who the sacred feminine is and was to me, and every chapter lays that out. But when I step back and what I usually say, people are like, I have no idea what you're talking about. I usually start with. Three specific pieces. And the first is that she is a historical fact. And the reason that I start there is not because that is the most important aspect. It's just acknowledging the reality that we live in a world that really prioriti prioritizes logic and data and facts and proof and evidence. And. Is so much historical evidence, like I'm not an expert on every culture of the world and in every time period of the world, but I can tell you everywhere I've looked going back. Thousands of thousands of years. There is an understanding of the divine in feminine form until fairly recently, fairly recently, being the last however couple thousand years, and knowing that information is our collective birthright. What you do with it, I have never cared. Like if it's like a topic at a cocktail party for you, great. If it transforms your life like it did mine even that's wonderful too. I want people to know this. So I start there usually this historical fact. Um, the second thing that I usually say is that especially for those of us that have been raised, uh, with pa more patriarchal thought structures and male monotheistic. Religious figures and Gods, she represents a really powerful set of alternative spiritual ideas that I think reclaiming them can be incredibly, incredibly healing for those of us that didn't have it. And then the third thing I usually say, and I, while I save it, third, I think it's the most important it is. She is the lived experience of our own sacredness, embodied, encoded in our bones, understanding that she's within us, that you are every bit of sacred and divine as. Any other living being and really even as her, and that's a complex topic that we could break down if we needed to, but Yeah. But yes, that, that sacredness is deeply expressed in you. So your desires are sacred, your dreams are sacred. Your life, however, ordinary and extraordinary it may be, or you may understand it to be, is sacred.

Heather

Hmm. Yeah. So beautiful and number three resonates really. I mean, all of them are so beautiful, but right now res resonating so deeply is is the last one that you shared and you know, hear her. For me came from a place of, yes, growing up with, you know, the Daddy God, and, and it not resonating and feeling like, wow, I guess I just don't belong here to learning more about the sacred feminine. And you know, the name of my business is divinely sensitive because I do feel that we all have this connection and this. Divine spark and so hear her for me. You know, you don't have to hear, you don't have to be, you know, it was just more of this idea of, wow, this is this connection for me to this beautiful space within me that helps me to connect. And so finding your book home to her and, and just feeling how connected it was to. Hear her and then finding out you were a local author. I was like, this is amazing. I love that. Amazing. I know. This is amazing. And so in the beginning of the book, you talk about sitting in darkness and how that was not easy especially for people who don't maybe have, um, this connection, I feel everyone has this connection, but maybe people who haven't practiced and it's not super strong for, I do feel like stillness and sitting in darkness is the beginning, right. The void. It's where, where it all begins. And so if you could share just a little bit about your experience with going from maybe someone who didn't feel comfortable in the dark. To being able to sit in the dark and what that has changed in your life for you.

Yes. I love that. Thank you for asking about that. And um, what I'm wanting to say too is that while the literal and the metaphorical might seem like they're different things, I actually think that when we work in the literal physical space. We also influence the metaphorical, right? So darkness being like literal darkness, literal sitting outside in the dark, is a way to turn towards shadow material in ourselves that we might understand from more of a mental construct or psychological construct. They actually can really work together. And I started that process without knowing what I was doing. So even before. I had any understanding of the sacred feminine. One of the first things that I was drawn to was a meditation practice. And I, I, that was a whole thing where it came online for me. It's something that I knew that I needed to do. I knew that I needed to, shortly after I became a mother, I knew that my set of operating instructions, I had become a different person through becoming a mother. And it was no longer going to work for me. And I started meditating and, um. I started having this urge to be outside when I meditated and. At the time, my daughter was very little and she woke up at, oh my god, like five o'clock in the morning. It's just some, some insane time and um, and I really, any new mother and maybe even just long-term mother will know that you are so attuned to your child's noises. I was like, I can't, as a new meditator, I'm like, I can't do this when there's sounds around. Even if she's laying in her crib, happily battling to herself. So my only place to really find quiet in my house was. To go outside. Hmm. It was dark outside and that scared me because I didn't know what was outside in the dark waiting for me. I mean that literally, I'm like, there's creatures out there. Like, I don't know. I don't spend time outside of the dark. And so it was a very gradual process where, you know, I started by, I was like, well, I'm gonna open the door and you know, like just kind of like sit here. But then I started freaking out and thinking about lizards and bugs running in the house while I'm sitting there with the door open. And so then I kind of crept outside and I had lights hung up on a little patio outside to kind of give me some light and just gradually as I did it. There was just this desire, like a hunger for the darkness, like started, instead of a fear, it became like, I need this. I really, really need this. So I started turning off the lights and sitting outside in the total darkness, and it became one of the most soothing practices I had. And it was incredible because, you know, your eyes adjust. So first of all, darkness is relative, right? Like you give yourself time and space to be there and it's actually that dark, you know, you can see, you can see in the dark. And um, the stillness in the wraparound, the removal of the light was just so, it brought like a grounding and a peacefulness and a soothing to my soul that I so needed. And then. I started noticing that I had companions in the dark and they didn't scare me. They were, there was this little, there was this mouse that would sit up in this pergola over my head. It was kinda like, you know, move around in the, in the vines, but wouldn't bother me. Just hang out for one week. There was a lizard that sat beside me every morning when I went out. There was a lizard, just like, you know, those little pile of leaves beside me. I would see skunks. Or on the other side of the fence, but you know, running by, I sit still, they don't bother me and I'm hearing coyotes in the distance and owls at night and this was in California and um, so it was easy to be outside in the dark at pretty much all times of year, and it was just such a special and beautiful. Sacred thing. And I think even before I understood any idea of the sacred feminine I write in my book, I think that's really when I begin to understand her voice. You know, just in that sweet space of silence. And if we wanna bring that back into the physical form, we all start in that place. Every single one of us originates in the dark. And so it's not a scary place. It's a homecoming. Yes, homecoming. And it's where we go, I believe, when we die. So giving ourselves the time and space to sit in that can actually be really, really soothing.

Heather

Yeah. I loved reading that part of your book, and I think our society directs us to, or conditions us to be afraid of the dark. And scared of being in the dark. And I love that you brought it around too, like this is where we begin. This is where we begin our life. We begin our lives in darkness, and especially the times that we're living in now, right? It's this modern world. It's so chaotic. There's so much uncertainty right now. There's so much fear-based information being thrown at us constantly. And so. It's easy to get pulled away from her. Right? And so I wonder what is here in this moment that you could share with someone out there who is just like stuck in the scroll, in, the fear, in the panic, and needing to come home to her and maybe just doesn't even know where to start.

Hmm. Yeah. My place to start from there is usually to go outside. Mm-hmm. And if it's weather appropriate, barefoot, um, I, it, it, it puts down the phone and just get outside and. Putting bare feet on the ground is so simple, but it changes things. It, you know, you were talking about that connection to the mother. We're talking on Earth Day. And it brings it back into this is where the literal and the metaphorical meet, right? You wanna understand the mother, go put your feet on her. She is literally always underneath us. She's not going anywhere. You are always, always held and supported and. Giving yourself a chance to feel that when things feel really chaotic, is so important. And I, I like to lay, you know, I know risk of ticks and bugs or whatever, but I like to lay directly on the ground when things feel really chaotic for me. And I notice every time there's just this slowing down of my heart rate and a realization that all is well. And one of my first teachers would say to me. I'm not saying it's all good. There's a difference between all good and all is well. Mm. Right? We're not saying that what is happening now is good or right, or as it should be in any way, and yet all is well. We are held. There is a larger story that is unfolding. You need to surrender to the fact that we cannot see it. We are not meant to see it. It is too big. This complex, interweaving of 8 billion people on this planet and countless other beings that live, it's all interwoven. We can't see it all, we're not meant to. Hmm. So pulling back, recognizing that all is well, I think then gives us an opportunity to say, how do I wanna show up in this moment? Leasing. Any need to control or know how this is gonna turn out. We can't, what do I wanna do? What is my contribution to make? And whatever that is, however large or small in this moment or in this day, it's enough. It's enough. Hmm.

Heather

That's beautiful. I love going outside. Yeah, I love putting my feet on the ground and I absolutely, I mean, there are times in my life where I have been felt the force of being pulled to the earth, like I just, I have to lay on the earth and it does, like you said, it slows everything down. And if you allow yourself to surrender, I wrote, I just wrote the word surrender down. I would love to hear what comes up for you around the word surrender.

And I wanna say one more thing about the Earth, if you don't mind, because it came up. Absolutely. I see this, I see this really cool book behind you that says witches, which I love. Um, and I think what I wanna say to that is in, in my own work and exploration and practicing with some of the sacred feminine concepts that I write about in my book, I have come to understand that so much of, um. The work of connecting with the sacred feminine and with the sacred in general is location based. It is earth based. Our ancestors were not. Look, I love my crystals as much as the next person, but I can promise you your ancestors were not sending off to get like the special stone from Peru or wherever like they were working. They, they were deeply in tune with where they were. Yes. And there's historical evidence of that, you know, with the, with magical workings done with just sticks from the local trees that were there, or. Animal talents or feathers or bone, it came from right here.

Heather

Mm. And

so deepening that relationship with the earth, there's also an empowerment aspect to that too, and an ability to tap into forces that are beyond you, which also makes it easier to surrender because you're not actually doing anything alone. Like it isn't all up to you. There's all this around you, and you don't really have to go anywhere except. More deeply into your current location to access

Heather

it. Hmm. Oof. That is so beautiful. I'm so glad that you came back to that and shared that. I often think of ancient times and you know, you're talking about the witches, and I am so drawn to candles. I love candles. I love honoring everything with candles. I don't know if it's from my. Jewish background or, or what it comes from. And I often think about ancient times or, you know, when candles first came to be, those were like, they, they could only light them for certain moments in time, right? Because they couldn't just go out and buy a candle. Like you're saying. You can't just, you know, back then you couldn't just say like, oh, I want this amazing crystal from Peru that's gonna bring me this awesome energy. Right? You have to use what you have. They had to make. Their own candles. And I love this idea of being with the land and being of the earth and and with the earth and what you have available to you in the moment. And that idea and knowing, like you just said, that there's so much more around you, right. We're, we're all woven into this sacred web and so it does take the pressure off and it does make it a little bit easier to surrender.

Yes. Yes, and I think surrender is one of those concepts that is so deeply misunderstood and some kind of weakness when in fact, it's one of the most powerful moves you can make is to say, I accept that I am not fully in control of this situation. I accept that there are forces beyond my understanding. Are at play here. I, I accept that I am not alone in moving through the world. And when we do that, all of a sudden all this magic can come online and we start to, we are in a place of co-creation at that point and working with what is, instead of what we think should be. And now all of a sudden there's possibilities available that perhaps we never could have seen before. And I don't know about you, but as a mom, I think I really learned the concept of surrender and childbirth. Yes. Because it, it, you know, I, I had one child medicated with the epidural and I had one child unmedicated, and of course those were two very different experiences and two beautiful children. And those births turned out exactly as they should be. The un uh, the unmedicated birth taught me so much about the surrender and how much, you know, I wanted to do it a particular way or like, you know, I, I think I need to hold on in some way. And you can't, you just, at some point you gotta get out of the way. Yes. So this thing can happen and it's so scary and it can be so painful too. And yet, as soon as I was able to just be like this, this is a force that is gonna have to take me and break me. Then is that's when the magic happens. That's when everything incredible happens and you start to realize that there's this force that is so much bigger than us

Heather

mm-hmm.

That is so beautiful and intelligent and powerful and full of love. And if we get outta the way, we can experience it and access it. And I, that, that is how I think of surrender. It has nothing to do with giving up or weakness or anything like that.

Heather

Mm. Yeah. I love that you brought it back to the mother. Yeah. That's so beautiful. And I, I, what was coming up from me when you were talking about that experience because, well, two things. One, you know, a lot of us will go in with our birth plan, you know, and like, this is what I want to happen. And I remember my first, my first son, my son, when my son was born, I went in with this paper and the nurses were like, okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay. We'll just humor you, you know, and of course nothing goes to the plan that you think is gonna happen with my daughter. I was able to surrender much more than I did with my son. And what else was coming up for me when you were talking, and I'd love to hear how you feel about this is. Surrender as a mother continues, right? We can't control what happens to our children. We can't control what's going on in the world around them and again and again, right? We have to surrender to what is for them. And I, I'm curious what's coming up for you around that?

Yeah. Well, as you were saying that, I was remembering some words that my own mom said to me that I value so much. Um. I had a, I had a corporate career when my daughter was born, and I loved that job. And, um, and I loved her, you know, so that was the first time I experienced that conflict of like, oh wait, I really enjoy the work I do in the world, and I, and I wanna be at home, snuggling my baby. And it was my company. I owned the company. I needed to go back and manage the company. And I remember calling my mom as I'm going into work. I'm in tears and I'm like, mom, I love the baby at home with the nanny and she's great. But I just, uh, and my mom was like, honey, your whole job as a mother is to learn how to let go. Little by little by little you let go. So if you just did something and I'm feeling emotional as I'm searing this, she's like, you just did something really important. You let go and you are allowing her to trust another human being to care for her. Hmm. That's so important for her to learn as a human, that she can trust in other people besides you and her dad, and you're gonna have to continue to do this over and over again to let your children go so that they can have. Their own experiences and move through the world as they're meant to. And it's excruciatingly painful at times. You never wanna see your children suffer and we wanna micromanage it and just, you know, keep them in a bubble. Or if we have, you know, your divinely sensitive work. If we have sensitive children, we wanna protect them, right? Because the world is not kind to sensitive children. Yeah, with souls, we wanna jump in front of them and be like, yes, I dunno. And you know, there's that concept of surrender too, is also knowing like, if we're not doing this by ourselves, if there is this greater force at work in my life, then there's a greater workforce at work in their lives too.

Heather

Mm-hmm. Yes. Yeah.

And it's not easy.

Heather

It is not easy. It's not easy at all. Just trusting that I, I remember taking, um, a mothering course. My, my children were probably in like elementary and middle school with Sil Reynolds, and she said something that has stuck with me through all of it. And she said, you know, you're, as a mother, you're continuously having to let go of and grieve versions of your child. Of your child, right? Because as they grow, they become different people and they have different things going on in their life. And, uh. It is not easy. It is not easy, but a beautiful practice to know as a mother, right. That we are not alone. That there is something greater.

Yeah.

Heather

Holding our children.

Yes. And that if we can see a story arc and a purpose in our lives, you know, like a reason. And I hope that, I don't know that everybody can, but I, and I would imagine, Heather, maybe this has been part of your journey, is that like even the challenges and struggles that we've had. We get to a certain point and we can look at them, we can say, ah, I understand. This has shaped me in ways that at this point in my life, I really wouldn't trade that. We have to allow that for our children too. That those struggles or hardships or whatever it is part of their story.

Heather

Yes. It's part of their journey. So much so, yeah. Oh, I could talk to you forever, but I know we don't have forever. So I, I wanna hear just a little bit about, you know, how do you help people in the community come home to her? You've got your podcast, you've got your book. I'm curious if there are other ways that. You hold space for that within the community?

Yeah, and I, and I think, so what I shared in the beginning that that authenticity and vulnerability, like that, that's one thing that's been shown to me is a way that my own willingness to do that and um, is a way that I can serve and I simply. Saying Here, let me get naked. Lemme just show you, lemme just show you the, the mess back here. Um, is one way that I, I do that kind of at a larger scale, but, um, yeah, I wrote the book and that work of the sacred feminine has been an evolution. And, um, I've become more and more curious about. How can this be offered to people who perhaps that language of the sacred feminine would never resonate with them? Hmm. And um, so it's gotten me much deeper into understanding why I really think this matters. And for me, I see it as. There's many reasons, but for this particular moment in time, I think tapping into the her story and the mythology and these, these concepts gives us a radically different way to understand power.

Heather

Hmm.

And I think as women we need that. Yeah. We need it really, really badly because we are, and we can't help it. We are all swimming in a patriarchal stew. And so. Whether we know it or not, I think a number of us are employing our own personal power and our resources in reinforcing that patriarchal stew, and sometimes I think we don't realize that we might have other options because nothing's being shown to us in culture. That tells us there are different ways to show up and be and operate. There have been. Different ways to show up and be and operate. And so that's one of the reasons why I'm kind of attached to the history and the mythology of the sacred feminine, because these stories tell us, in fact, it hasn't always been this way. And we're certainly not going backwards. You know, we live in a very complex time now. We're not gonna, you know, go back to some glory Gloria's past. We can use those stories and examples to tell us how to show up in the world differently and how to use our own personal power in ways that are gonna better serve ourselves and our communities and the planet. And I think that is radically, radically and urgently needed right now in this moment in time. So my work these days is focused yes, on the podcast and then continuing to talk about the book, but also helping women and men if they're interested, dig into these concepts and different paradigms of power and employ them in their own lives. And so, um, I do that through one-on-one coaching, and I'm starting a small group program in the fall where we're really gonna dig into. These different aspects of female power. Mm. Beyond them and how we can use these to shift our own paradigms and our own ways of thinking and showing up in the world. Mm. I teach online courses around this too.

Heather

Beautiful. So beautiful. I love archetypal healing. I've gotten so, uh, from, from the beginning of sitting in silence and, and communing with her and having different goddesses come to me, channeling things, and then going back and learning like, wow. I wanna know more about this goddess and, and how, how she's showing up for me and, and what is her story sharing that I can take from. Right. Like I, I love that you're doing this work so, so beautiful. So, I know we don't have a, a lot of time left, but I would love to, before we close a couple things. What has community in this healing journey meant for you? Like having community.

It has been everything. I mean, and it wasn't something that I, again, 'cause we, we live in a culture that's very focused on the individual. So yeah, we understand power from an individual perspective. And actually that's one aspect of power that, um, that I explore in my work now is the power. Power with, as opposed to power over. So what does collaborative power look like? Um. But community has been everything, everything to me in this journey from, um, and it's interesting, I, I think, I don't know if this would be true for you, but when I awoke to the sacred feminine, there was a period of loneliness because I, my community did not match where my heart was. Then slowly, slowly, slowly, my life started to, you know, it was like a little beam or something kind of calling in the community that would be in alignment. And now I am surrounded by souls that are in alignment with me. And it is, it is so incredibly healing and supportive and, um, it's such a space of transformation. Mm. I did a year long priestess initiation program with, um. 12 other sisters and a brother and it was just absolutely, I learned in that space. It was a very experiential thing and I learned in that space what it looks like to have a group of people together with hearts aligned towards a common purpose. It is. You wanna talk power? Yeah. It's next level. Like it's really hard to put into words what that's like. Um. And I, I rely very much on sacred feminine community, whether that's through dance or I have a rosary prayer circle with some friends. Sometimes we open it up to the public, but for special, you know, seasonal rituals and things like that. But a lot of times it's just us coming together to pray on each new moon, so, so supportive to me.

Heather

That's so beautiful. Yeah. I love that you spoke about like maybe. There might be someone out there listening who, who feels like they're opening up to all of these new things and that their community doesn't quite support that. And so if listeners if, if that's you, what a beautiful inspiration, Liz and, and myself too, because the same thing happened for me. It's okay that your community shifts, and I also feel like we have community for different things in our lives. Right. Like we've got community around our children and their school and, and then, you know, the sacred feminine community that you have. And, and so this like sitting on my heart very intensely right now to just for the listeners to know that you're not alone and that there is community out there for you. And you know, if you feel a strong soul connection to Liz, you we're gonna have all of her information. In the show notes and you can connect with her and just know that there are so many people out there doing this beautiful work. And so, uh, if you're not feeling soul connection here, that hopefully it inspires you to go find your community, uh, and, and what is feeling good and safe for you.

Yes. And I I wanted to add there too, you know, I, I've said this a couple times now about the literal and the metaphorical sort of influencing each other, and I talked about the literal sitting in the dark. And so, you know, that, how that influences our ability to be with whatever we consider darkness in ourselves. The opposite is true too. So one of the things that I encourage students, I have encouraged students in my class to do is I, I have a grounding practice of just like you kind of started as they're just connecting to the earth energy every day and, and. Plugging my, my own grounding cord into the core of the earth. And what I always encourage my students to do is to see, sense, feel, imagine other people's cords plugging in there, mine and people that you don't know. 'cause I can promise you they're there. Mm-hmm. And if you start to draw your attention there metaphorically, you know you're not alone. And then. You start to pull it into your physical and literal existence. And it absolutely does work. It really does. It's not even that mystical. It might sound mystical, but once you start doing it, you're like, huh. This is actually pretty practical and not that hard. Yes. Um, and so it's such a good way to start to just, you're so not alone, so not alone.

Heather

Simple, yet potent. That's what I always say I love, right? Yes, yes. Some of these practices feel like, oh, that's so simple, but it's so potent.

Exactly. It's like going outside and with bare feet, you're like, whatever. Like it's that easy. I don't have to buy anything. I don't have to sign up a course. I don't have to.

Heather

No, you don't. Don't need a mentor. You can just walk outside with your bare feet and energy shifts. I mean, if you really allow yourself to feel it, you feel the energy shift, even when you just walk out. Into, into the natural world from being in a house or a building. So, so beautiful. It has been such a pleasure to talk with you, Liz. I feel like there is so much more that we could talk about and, uh, you know, maybe, maybe it'll be on another episode of the podcast or somewhere in the community together. But I just want to thank you so much for spending this time with us and sharing your magic.

Well, thank you. This time flew by. Wow. Um, my heart feels so full. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful.
