ENCORE! ENCORE! Just when we think it’s over, He is risen! He is risen indeed! In the wake of Jesus’ resurrection, the people who loved Him, walked with Him, and were discipled by Him respond in conflicting ways to this revelation. They reacted with doubt, despair, grief, hopelessness, confusion, and wavering. Though their reactions are different and unexpected, Jesus reveals himself to them in the ways each one needed so that they could believe. With all the evidence Jesus provided that He had risen, at some point, they had to simply choose to trust Him.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Mary Magdalene teaches us that what matters most, is that we walk in obedience no matter how the world receives the message. Have you ever chosen to not obey what God told you to say or do because you were afraid of how it would be received? Why were you afraid and what is the worst thing that could have happened if you did walk in obedience and were rejected?
2. God brings revelation in His perfect timing. Tell about a time when God revealed something to you about yourself and it was in His perfect timing. Meaning, were you ready to deal with and address it?
3. Jesus is showing us that it is only His truth that can kill a lie. In what ways has God used His truth to debunk misconceptions, ideas, and traditions that you have held onto that are not in alignment with His Word?
