DEFINITION -Denial:  a statement that something is not true or does not exist; a defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence.
Scriptures:Proverbs 30:9 - “Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal and so dishonor the name of my God.”
2 Timothy 3:1-5 - “There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

THOUGHT
We listen to only those news channels that reinforce our interpretation of the truth, rather than listen to the journalistic reporting that responsibly reports the facts.  We eat to the point of obesity and turn to  prescription drugs for weight loss while overlooking the harm of our choices.  We complain about the shortcomings of younger generations but continue to feed them endless hours of technology that distracts rather than teaches. Instead of offering them wisdom on ethics, responsibility, and the value of successfully completing a task, we allow them to become exposed to a constant state of denial as they become absorbed in a mental diet of TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram.
Human reality is in a constant state of change; however, it is becoming acceptable to change a truth that does not align with the agenda of the powerful. To aide in the deception, humanity has created tools that can change the pitch of a singer’s voice, erase years off an aging politician and give the illusion of living in a romantic state of splendor with just a few clicks of the keyboard. This digital age allows us to live in a perpetual state of denial, holding truth hostage.
The only way to break free from ignorance and manipulation is to embrace the truth.  John 8:32 reminds us, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
Denial of the truth is only one of many denial mechanisms that hold humanity in bondage. Our discussion will deal with two of those denials.    1.  Denial of the existence of God: As humanity becomes more assured of their scientific accomplishments and perceived ability to control the environment, they are attempting to deny the existence of God.  This is causing a world-wide disconnection from truth resulting in a global condition of fear, because of the lack of love, empathy, compassion and care for one another.  Humanity’s acceptance of the Divinity and importance of God allows for redemption, transformation, and individual growth to become possible.  Romans 8:28 affirms that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
2. Denial of purpose of the individual: No matter the biological or physical characteristics inherited from their parents; God created each human being and endowed them with the HOLY SPIRIT.  When we teach children the truth about their divine creation, they are empowered to embrace their identity as they experience the complexities of change as they grow.  The Holy Spirit will guide, comfort and teach the child as they become the unique individual they were created and purposed BY GOD to be.  Denial of their divine creation causes a spiritual disconnection from God resulting in confusion, sufferingabsence of love, fulfillment and inner peace.  The truth will validate Psalms 139:13-14 which states: “For God created my inmost being you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well!  This will allow them to grow with the confidence that their unique qualities are God-made, purposeful and significant.
To live in the freedom of truth we must examine what we accept as truth.
Pray and ask “Am I being influenced by someone’s illusion or distortion of the truth? “If your answer is yes, follow the instructions in 2 Timothy 3:5 “Have nothing to do with those people.”
