THOUGHT
Children that experienced life in the 1960’s were exposed to possibilities beyond their reality. Amid worldwide challenges, the election of the youngest President, John F. Kennedy, ignited a sense of possibility. The televised appeal of President Kennedy to “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” seemed to suddenly ignite the creative minds of the youth of America.
The world changed rapidly. Cotton and wool, long skirts, petticoats and penny loafers gave way to synthetic fibers, psychedelic stockings, go-go boots, and unisex fashions. Cartoons like “Dick Tracy” and “The Jetsons” depicted futuristic technology like wristwatch telephones, robotic maids, jetpacks, flying cars, and holograms. We were inspired by Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock to “boldly go where no man had gone before.”
Technological advances like the first weather satellite, bubble wrap, the moon landing, interconnected computers, push-button telephones, and Automatic Teller machines  (ATM) revolutionized communication, trade, and support. Our dreams led to inventions that could either benefit humanity or destroy the planet.
Humanity has spoken into existence many wonderful things, yet our future remains plagued with negativity, hopelessness, disease, death and destruction. Our achievements have taught us what we think, we can achieve. Yet suffering persists.
Solomon, in Ecclesiastes, spoke of everything being vanity, or meaningless. He reasoned that there is nothing new under the sun.  No one remembers the former generations, and even those yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them.”
God has given humanity the power to change our future.  We can choose love, hate, destruction, or joy.  God promises to give us the desires of our hearts if we honor and obey God’s commandments. The problem with humanity is that people insist on prioritizing their lust and desires over the will of God.   Choosing a life in sin hinders humans access to a future of beauty and peace.
I have learned that my choices impact my future. By choosing to trust God, I can find joy even in sorrow.  When I cast my cares on God, I avoid stress and anxiety.  Choosing to accept the will of God provides protection and hope. Consequently, I do not worry about the future, because I know that My Heavenly Father is in control.
Humanity has the power to create a better future. If people worldwide, united with hearts and minds dedicated to loving God, the future would change. We could steer humanity toward healing and fostering understanding, to create a future where we all live harmoniously in a technologically advanced world.
A future filled with joy and peace is possible—but it begins with making the right choices.Do you love God? Are you willing to help transform hearts and minds for a better future, or am I the only one dreaming of the possibility?
