WORD OF THE WEEK - DECISION - 8/3/2025

Definition: Decision - a choice that you make about something after thinking about several possibilities: a formal judgment.

THOUGHT
This journey of sharing the Word of the Week has truly been a walk of faith. There are times when I receive the word well in advance, allowing adequate time for contemplation and reflection.  At other times, a life experience directly inspires the Word, often right before it is time to share.  That means the Word may not come until it is time to produce the message for the week.  That was the case for the word for this week. 
While celebrating my birthday, I was presented with a financial opportunity. I was having an enjoyable time, and the presenters gave me every reason to believe that the investment was a fantastic opportunity for me.   I accepted the offer.  Within an hour, I had a revelatory moment that made me question my decision.  It was then that it hit me!   I had not prayed before making my decision. 
From the time we are born we make decisions.  Babies—and even animals—respond instinctively based on sensory input. But as we grow, our choices become more complex. We form opinions and make decisions through a mix of reason, emotion, memory, bias, and tradition. We weigh costs and benefits, guided by knowledge and past experience, and we try to predict the future.
In the past, this was the process that guided my decisions.  However, I still struggled with making good financial decisions.  No matter how much money I made, I was always behind, never had enough to save and had a credit score that I was embarrassed to share.  It was not until I invited God to intervene in my life’s decisions that things began to change. 
By deciding to make this investment, I had ignored this most critical step.  When I prayed, it became crystal clear that the decision I had made may have been appropriate for a younger version of me but was unacceptable for the person and circumstances of my life today.  The injection of God’s wisdom led me to rescind my decision.
You see, when allowed to operate, The Holy Spirit will not only guide your decisions, but your thoughts, and actions to help you manifest positive results in all areas of your life.
When I surrendered my decisions to the Holy Spirit, I found freedom.  My relationships became stronger and better defined, my financial hardships dissipated, my health improved, the Word of the Week was born and I no longer had to justify my decisions.I pray that this Word will inspire you to make a “decision” to put Proverbs 3:5–6 into action in your life.   Learn to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
