Word of the Week:CALLING

Hello, family!

During our Transition Series, we learned that since transition cannot be stopped, it is far better to transition with God than to transition apart from Him.
As we walked through that “Transition” word journey, we sought after Courage, tried to break the yoke of Depression, confronted Stinking Thinking, and discovered how essential it is to renew our minds so that Transformation can take place. Through study and reflection, we came to understand that transition is shaped by how willing we are to align our lives with God’s purpose for our creation.
Because we were created in the image and likeness of God, we have access to the WHY behind our existence. But that access begins with one foundational truth: we must first believe that God is. Our connection to the divine nature of God gives us the ability to accept or reject Him. Yes — we can choose to accept God, reject God, choose other gods, or deny God altogether.
Yet none of those choices change this truth: God, our Creator, designed each of us intentionally and placed His divine purpose within us. We were created to fulfill something meaningful. That purpose unfolds as part of the transition process. Scripture calls this unfolding the Calling of God on our lives. And the choices we make — to accept, ignore, or reject God — shape the direction of our transition and either clarify or blind us to our divine calling.
So yes, you guessed it: “Calling” will be the next word in our Word of the Week Series.
As children, we all remember the calling of our names by the ones who loved us, taught us, and sometimes threatened us. Most of us knew by the tone of our parent or guardian’s voice whether we were being called home for dinner, sent on an errand, or if we were in deep trouble. It was expected that if we heard them calling, we would respond — or face the consequences.
Isn’t it amazing that God and His Son, Jesus, operate similarly?
Our connection to God helps us become familiar with His voice. Reading God’s Word helps us become familiar with His will. So when God calls:We know how to respond. We become aligned with the will of God.We fulfill the purpose for which we were created.
As part of this series, we will explore the following words:DISCERNMENTRESPONSEIDENTITYASSIGNMENT andFAITHFULNESS.
Everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their calling. But like anything else, it requires wisdom, knowledge, and willingness in order to reap the benefits of that calling.
And in the words of the familiar hymn, remember:
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling —Calling for you and for me.Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching—Watching for you and for me.
