Word of the Week: IDENTITY

From the time of our birth, many of us struggle with Identity…. We ask ourselves: Who am I? What do I believe? What shapes my choices, desires, values, and emotions? What influences the person I am becoming—God, family, culture, politics, or the world around me?
These questions matter, but they do not fully define identity. And the deeper question is this: Should they? Should or does your relationship with God impact your identity?  If God is your Creator, then identity cannot be separated from Him. The answer is… Yes.
Why? Because if you acknowledge and accept that God, your creator, created you in His image, you will understand that you were predestined to become who God created you to be—conformed to the image of Christ.
The breath that made you a living soul also connected you to the One who created you. Acknowledgement of God as your creator and Christ as your redeemer gives you access to a legacy of blessings that only the children of God will know, understand, live or hear.
For those who do not believe, this truth may seem impossible or inconceivable.
Scripture teaches that rejecting God separates a person from the promises reserved for God’s children. For those who believe in Christ, identity becomes clear.
For those who believe in Christ as your savior, you have received an identity that establishes you as one of God’s special people.  You become part of a chosen generation. You are a royal priesthood.  You were created in Christ Jesus for good works.
Identity is not discovered merely by looking within.  It is revealed through your relationship with God.  Your identity will reflect the divine purpose for which you were uniquely created.  Your life becomes a testimony of your relationship with God.  As a result: You love others with the love of Christ.  The nature of God will be reflected in your character.   You will know who you are, because you know whose you are.

The more you trust your relationship with God, the easier it becomes to hear the voice of God as he guides and orders your steps.
·        The more God guides you, the better you live according to the purpose for which you were created.
·        The more comfortable you become living your purpose, the more you fulfill your destiny and the better your identity becomes defined.
This is how you become a worker created by God for good works. This is the process of discovering your full identity.
If you have still have more questions than answers about WHO YOU ARE…Consider beginning at the place where identity truly begins: At Your Beginning -- with God!
