Word of the Week:
ASSIGNMENT

Good morning, Family! For those who have followed me over the last few years, you know that The Word of the Week rarely takes a break. My recent hospitalization forced my assignment to be put on hold. I am recovering well, and after defining identity in the last episode, it is now time to get back to business.
ASSIGNMENT
Your reading of The Word of the Week is not merely a weekly task. It is MY assignment.
That assignment was given to me during a time of personal spiritual and emotional turmoil after leaving my church.
The church I had been attending faced a serious financial dilemma. After much prayer and discussion, the leadership chose a solution that I believed could place an unreasonable burden on our rapidly aging congregation. In my spirit, I believed there was a more God-centered, discipleship-building alternative that we had failed to explore.
Choosing to leave was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I felt spiritually depleted, emotionally exhausted, and as though I was wandering in the wilderness with no direction, no church home, and no purpose. Although a few people asked why I left, I shared my thoughts only with trusted advisors. I did not believe it was right to publicly criticize the leadership. Besides, what if I was the one who was wrong?
It was in the middle of that wilderness that I prayed, "Dear God, what do I do now?"
Late one night, God answered by calling me to deepen my personal study of His Word and to share what I was learning with my family and friends. That was the beginning of The Word of the Week.
What began as text messages became emails, six months later and, at my daughter's urging, podcasts the following year. Today, I send more than 100 personal emails each week, and by God's grace, the podcast has been downloaded more than 4,500 times without advertising.
The answer to my question became my assignment.
Every assignment has certain characteristics. An assignment...Is given by an authority. (Matthew 28:18-19)Has a clear purpose. (Habakkuk 2:2)Has a defined scope and outcome. (Matthew 10:5-6)Has a timeframe. (John 9:4)Gives the assignee responsibility for completing it. (Ezekiel 3:17)

Please read the referenced Scriptures for a deeper understanding of their relevance to this discussion.
Has God called you to an assignment?
If The Word of the Week has been a blessing to you, would you prayerfully consider helping expand this ministry? How? Perhaps you could forward it to others, invite someone to join our email list, offer suggestions, or even help support future outreach. (Please pray first, then let me know what God places on your heart.)
Or perhaps God has given you an assignment of your own. If so, that is also an answer to my prayer. Whether your assignment is to strengthen this ministry or begin another, both are part of God's Divine Plan.
God is calling His children, regardless of culture, color, sex, or nationality, to build His Kingdom here on earth. This is our assignment.
NOW...WHAT IS YOUR ASSIGNMENT IN GOD'S DIVINE PLAN?
God has called us not only to believe, but to also participate.
GOD BLESS YOU!
