Word of the Week:
FOOD
Hello My Dear Family,
I love researching the Word of the Week because I always learn so much. As I prepared this episode on food, I discovered something remarkable: the most essential element required for the existence of every living thing on earth is carbon.
Humans were created to consume the carbon‑based organic molecules that make up the carbohydrates, proteins, fats, phytonutrients, and vitamins we call food. Our digestive system breaks down those molecules to build new tissue, repair damage, produce energy, and support brain chemistry.
Without carbon, we would not exist.
Although every breath contains a small amount of carbon dioxide, most of the carbon in our bodies comes from the food we eat. As we produce energy, we return carbon to the atmosphere by exhaling carbon dioxide. Humans are not only made of carbon—we consume carbon‑containing molecules because that is what we are.
I am truly amazed at the creative and ingenious process of creation designed by Yahweh with extraordinary efficiency. Every living being survives by drawing energy and nutrients from other parts of creation. Humans, animals, plants, microbes, and fungi all survive based on their interconnectivity to other carbon‑based substances. Every living being contributes to sustaining another life.
As carbon‑based beings, we share the following: We were built to expire at a time determined by the Creator. We were built to procreate and replicate ourselves through offspring We were built to consume what we need from the air, water, plants, and animals of the earth. We were built to host millions of microorganisms that support our health and survival. We were built to return to the elements from which we were created.
The body is strengthened by the nutrients provided through our consumption of food.
Let’s consider something: If our physical bodies require food to live, could it be that the part of us that comes from Yahweh also requires nourishment?
Whether you acknowledge it or not, for each of us there is another aspect of our being that is God‑based. This part originates from Yahweh, is sustained by Yahweh, and can only be nourished by what comes from Yahweh. His Word teaches us that we are more than a body. Mark 12:30 instructs us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.”
Which leads to important questions: How do we provide sustenance to the God‑based parts of our being? Is there specific “food” for those parts? Is there a system that distributes God‑based nourishment the way the digestive system distributes carbon‑based nourishment.
Jeremiah gives us insight when he says, “Your words were found and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart.” This suggests that God’s Word is as essential for the God‑based existence as carbon is for the carbon‑based existence. Just as the digestive system processes physical food, the heart receives, breaks down, and distributes the “molecules” of the Word—building good thoughts (mind), repairing troubled souls (soul), producing a right spirit (spirit), and keeping us in perfect peace (strength/body).
Without God, we would not exist.
The God‑based food found in Yahweh’s Word should be consumed with the same desire and diligence as the food that sustains our physical bodies.
Food is essential to the human body and soul, but as we will discuss in our next episode…
BEWARE OF FOOD THAT HAS LITTLE TO NO NUTRITION!
