In this last installment of our Embodied Advent series, we look at Mary, who so willingly received her Christ, becoming a tabernacle for the divine, a dwelling place, a shelter for the embryonic God to grow. She received the calling to carry, birth, and raise a child — to love and pour herself out for him — and then she released him and her heart to the will of the Father.
As we draw closer to the day of Christ’s birth, consider what you may be holding too tightly. What do you have a grip on, or what are you striving for that has a grip on you? How might you be trying to prove your worth instead of accepting what is already yours and trusting God even with what you see as weakness? How do you need to let go and surrender to the call of the Divine over your life?
