The Library of Alexandria and the Fragility of Human Knowledge

The loss of the Library of Alexandria was a huge blow to the intellectual community at the time . Caused by many incidents over the years . The one that truly stands out is when Julius Caesar set fire to Egyptian ships during his war against Pompey’s allies making the flames spread towards the city . Was this a mistake in Caesar’s part ? Many politicians, countrymen and organized religion have often sought to censor information of any kind from the masses . Is this yet another example of it ? Has this contributed to people not being as intellectual as people from their time ? He wasn’t the only one mind you ? Theophilus destroyed many of the remnants of Greco- Roman learning as he targeted pagan institutes that included the Library of Alexandria . How has censorship changed the world ?
