The Talk
The Talk Podcast is a space for open, honest conversations—where everyone’s welcome. From our home base on St. Eustatius, we share real stories from the island, the Dutch Caribbean, and the diaspora. We talk about community, culture, health, identity, family life, migration, and the challenges and beauty of everyday living. Our goal is to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and connected—a growing community built on empathy and understanding.

In this episode of The Talk Podcast, Ingra Bennett shares her experience with MS during a time when many would have crumbled. Instead, she leaned into prayer, faith, and even quiet songs in her head to stay grounded. She remembers thinking, “It’s just MS,”a mindset that reflects her ability to stay grateful, even in the face of uncertainty.
Ingra also gives us insight into the different stages of MS and the importance of truly listening to your body. Her journey led her to discover a powerful MS community of Black women in Curaçao that is now recognized as part of the Dutch MS network, where she found both representation and support.
Beyond the diagnosis, this episode is a glimpse into Ingra’s heart. From her love of singing with Vocé Dynamico, to her reflections on working at Disney, to answering her lifelong call to become a primary school teacher. Every chapter of her story is filled with purpose.
This is a story of resilience, perspective, and purpose. One that reminds us to stay grateful, keep listening to ourselves, and never stop moving forward.
