Meet Shomica Griffith - Ms Mature Sint Eustatius 2023 : She lives a reality most people can’t imagine, dialysis three times a week, navigating life with chronic kidney disease, and holding it all together as a mother, social worker on a small island.
In this deeply personal episode, Shomica opens up about her diagnosis, the challenges of living with a lifelong condition, surviving a near death experience and the emotional weight of losing loved ones at key moments. With honesty and strength, she shares how those experiences led her to question her faith, her future, and her sense of self.
Originally from Guyana, Shomica moved to St. Eustatius at a young age. It was here, with the unwavering support of her mother, that she learned to live and to push forward even when her body was tired and her heart was heavy.
This episode is about resilience in real life the kind that comes from facing pain and still choosing to show up!
