Welcome back to DMR!
As we break down the first official trailer for The Avengers: Doomsday!
The trailer explodes with multiversal energy, pulling listeners into a collision of three iconic worlds—Avengers, X‑Men, and the Fantastic Four. Doctor Doom stands at the center of the chaos, radiating a level of power that instantly reframes the stakes. His confrontation with Thor, stopping Stormbreaker mid‑strike, signals that this isn’t just another villain rising—it’s a seismic shift in the MCU’s hierarchy. The trailer leans heavily into tension, showcasing collapsing realities, returning legends, and the emotional weight of heroes facing a threat that eclipses anything they’ve known.
What makes the trailer truly electrifying is its sense of scale and inevitability. The incursions between universes feel catastrophic, pushing characters into alliances and conflicts that fans have dreamed about for years. Seeing Steve Rogers, Loki, Professor X, and Magneto woven into the same narrative hints at a story built on legacy, consequence, and impossible choices. As Doom warns of an “unthinkable decision,” the trailer positions Doomsday as a defining chapter—one that promises not just spectacle, but a reckoning across the multiverse.

SPEAKER_00Alright, alright, alright. So welcome back to DMR. Thank you for tuning back in as always. Much obliged. Hope you enjoyed my review for minions and monsters. Good little family pick. Go out and see that one now. So yesterday we've woken up to the first trailer for Avengers Doomsday. Avengers Doomsday. Now we've got a few little snippets here and there before this trailer actually dropped, but you're getting a two for one special this week, two episodes, and I haven't done a trailer deep dive in some time. Some time. So again, as I said on the last episode, we're going to be doing shorter audio only reviews for some of the lesser things that are coming out. Not to say that this is a small thing because Avengers, we haven't had a Avengers movie since 2019 with Endgame. So very interesting. What we're going to do, we're going to be breaking down what we see in the trailer, what characters we can see that are in there, what the storyline is. I've already watched the trailer, but I'm going to be breaking it down for what we can hear on the audio here. So a reminder that DMR is part of the Audible Creators program. So what does that mean for you, the listener at home? Well, you can jump on the link in my show, it will take you over to Audible, and you can start a 30-day free trial. That's right, 30 days for free. And if you jump on Audible, you can actually type in Stan Lee. It's an audio book. I haven't listened to it yet, but I found it this morning. Stan Lee, a life in comics. So obviously, Stan Lee was basically the godfather of Marvel and all the characters that he created. So I'm sure this book is going to be an absolute cracker if you go and give it a listen. Goes for about six hours. So a life in comics, Stan Lee, and you will be supporting DMR as well. If you stick around past the 30 days terms and conditions do apply. Alright, so let's go over this trailer and discuss what we can see in depth.
SPEAKER_01Something's coming. Something we may not be able to deter before this day is done. We should be faced with an unthinkable decision.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so basically, as I said, the largest MCU move that came out was Endgame before that you had Infinity War. It was basically building up for about 10 years from Iron Man with all the different MCU characters, all leading to this big climax. I've always said that Endgame was way, way, way too big. It was an incredible film, no doubt. Awesome, awesome movie. Haven't seen it in a little bit, but it was an incredible film to watch at the cinemas. So since then, Marvel have really struggled in terms of living up to the brand and what they can do with film and whatnot. And a lot of the Marvel movies, not all of them, but a lot of the Marvel movies have really fizzled out after Endgame. There've been a few good ones here and there, like for instance, Deadpool and Wolverine, absolute cracker of a movie. And I think that did so well because if we go back and look around the time when Endgame came out in 2019, if you have a little bit of a think about what came out at that time, it was a series very successful called The Boys. The Boys has just wrapped up with season five. So if you haven't seen The Boys, jump on Amazon Prime. It's one of the best shows ever made in terms of sups, and it's a very violent take on superheroes. That's why I think it did so well, and why everyone loved it, especially after Endgame and why Deadpool and Wolverine also did very well. But a lot of that whole superhero normal run of the middle stuff, I don't think people want to see it anymore. Anyway, so they're pulling out all the stops with Avengers Doomsday, and in the first 25 seconds, we can see Charles Xavier in the clips. He's basically at the Xavier School, which was where the X-Men were, and the sign is basically ripped down, it's in covered in dust, and it's all just gone pear-shaped for that particular school. So he's sitting in his wheelchair, and basically he's looking out the window. There's a very large flash that takes place, and then we get our first look at Doctor Doom, and apparently it's gonna be played by Robert Downey Jr. So, as we know, in Endgame, spoiler alert, Iron Man dies right at the end of the film because they tricked Thanos in terms of getting the gauntlet off him, snaps his fingers and basically wipes out Thanos at the end of that movie, but it also unfortunately kills Tony Stark, and that was one of the most heaviest movie moments in the MCU. So very, very heavy stuff. So that's what we're getting from the first 25 seconds of the trailer. So let's continue on, Sherry.
SPEAKER_01I've fought with many warriors in my time. And they dyed enemy. They died facing enemies. It's getting me far less than this one.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so next in the trailer, we've got Thor that's doing a bit of a voiceover. He's meeting with the remaining or surviving Avenger members. You've also got members of the Fantastic Four as well. You can see people like Ant-Man is also the Winter Soldier in the trailer. You can see Loki as well. So there's a few members that are coming back for this, and they're all basically listening to Thor. He's going through that. He fought with a hell of a lot of different warriors, a lot that were by his side, all of them were quite strong, and a lot of them died. So a lot of them died facing Thanos in the endgame film. And we've got a lot of good new faces that are in there as well. Got some Wakanda people, too. I can't remember the last name or the name of the chick that took over the Black Panthers role, but she's come back as well, and then we're starting to get a fair few more visuals on what's happening in this particular story. Thor with his big axe, I can't remember the exact name of it with the lightning around it, but it's all very doom and gloom. So you can tell that Thor is really quite scared in terms of what he's facing, or he's talking about Doom, Doctor Doom, that is, and the challenge that they're gonna have coming up. So they're not giving too much away in this particular trailer, which is good. That's what you want to see in a trailer. You don't want to see the whole goddamn world movie when you're you know preparing for this particular film when it's gonna be coming out, which is at the end of the year. So let's keep rolling on with it.
SPEAKER_01We're going to need America.
SPEAKER_00Alright, so as the trailer continues, we're getting a few more characters. It looks like we've got Florence Pugh that's playing Mystique. There is some more footage of the Fantastic Four in action. We've also got Gambit as well. You can see Gambit in the trailer, which is pretty cool. It's played by what's his name? I can't remember his name's off of my head. Channing Tatum. Channing Tatum's come back as Gambit, and we saw him in Deadpool and Wolverine. I'm glad they're actually exploring this particular character because Gambit is an absolute cracker of a Marvel character. Then he's basically saying that they're gonna be needing a miracle to fight this guy. Then we've got a scene where Thor is absolutely giving it his all, he's up in the air with his massive lightning hammer, comes down, and he's taking on Doctor Doom head to head, does a very similar move in terms of what he did with Thanos in Infinity War with the axe and driving it into his chest, and Doom basically just puts up two fingers, two fingers, and stops the attack from Thor. So pretty wild, pretty wild stuff. So this is why the whole trailer comes back to Thor and him saying that he's really is petrified about this new threat. So let's go over the final section of the trailer. And somebody says to him, Hey pal, and he basically comes back and says, No, it's it's not possible. The guy is talking, puts out his hand, and Thor puts out his hammer, and the guy's talking, is able to levitate the hammer over into his hand, and we see Chris Evans there as Captain America, Steve Rogers, who has come back to reprise his role as Captain America. So that's pretty cool considering that when we last saw Cap was at the end of Endgame, and I can't recall, I think he went back in time or lived out his life, and he's an old man, and he got to live out his life from I think the post-World War II. That's why he was old and and he dies, I think, in the end of that film. So it's gonna be interesting to see where they go with all this. This is obviously gonna be some type of multiverse take on what has happened at the end of Endgame and where we are now, especially with Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom. So I think look, I'm pretty excited for this film, no doubt, but Marvel are definitely pulling out all the stops with this particular film, and it isn't gonna roll into multiple films thereafter, because they've really been lagging in terms of their movies and whatnot, in terms of getting people back into the cinema with the cinematic universe, so they're they're not holding back, so it's gonna be a big, big budget on this one, I suppose, and it's actually coming out the same day as June 3. I think they're calling it June's Day, June Day, similar to Oppenheimer and Barbie. So for two massive films that are coming out at the same time, it's gonna be a massive December when this actually drops. So, have you seen the trailer for Avengers Doomsday? Jump on YouTube, you can look at it now. I've watched it a couple of times, it does look very interesting, and again, they haven't given too much away on this particular trailer, which is good. So, I don't fully know what the story is as of yet. So, thank you for tuning in to DMR's breakdown of Avengers Doomsday trailer. Again, you're getting a two for one deal this week, and I can punch out these audio shorter reviews a lot quicker. Again, we're gonna be sticking to the 4K deep dives video on bigger films and also the interviews as well. So, stay tuned. There's gonna be a lot more interviews coming up in the next couple of months. We're very busy on the back end, it's gonna be good. Looking forward to it, looking forward to it, as per usual, leaders on the menji.
