I speak about the screwed-up announcement over Twitter of Ron DeSantis' candidacy, the debt-ceiling debacle, and the cowardice of the corporate-owner class in the face of anti-LGBTQ hate.
Hello, hello, hello, John Mason. How is everybody? Well, it's official. Ron De She had uh DeSantis, the dic dictator of Florida, the free state of Florida, quote unquote, has officially announced his candidacy for president of the United States. And he did this over Zoom, you know, as a dig against the so-called legacy media. Plus he uh he doesn't get along with the news media, and let's say the feeling's mutual. And co-hosting the the rollout uh the announcement with him is Elon Musk, the person that owns Twitter and has been running it to the ground ever since. And during the first twenty minutes of the of the announcement, it was just one technical screw up after another. Dead air, fuzzy noises, inappropriately plays computerized music, dead air all c all kind of glitches. But finally, they got together. What does mush musk contribute uh to uh to uh Twitter and uh and Tesla? I mean he all he is is a rich kid who's living off his uh father's uh emerald mine in Zambia. And the old man made his fortune uh during the apartheid era in uh South Africa. And and what does he do exactly? Just hires people to uh uh to build build things together under his ownership, and he calls himself uh he can call himself a technical genius because he he owns the company. There's an old story. The uh the big corporate mogul get gets all the reviews, all the praise, all the media hype, it would be nothing without his thousands or millions of employees doing the actual work, turning out the actual product that makes the boss look good. Just as uh Carnegie and Rockefeller and Mellon and Vanderbilt were the and Astor were the uh uh corporate big shots of of the late nineteenth century, which were the target of uh a protest by millions of Americans, middle class folk, and definitely workers. So, as they were in their era, so are Musk, Jeff Bezos, in this era. So, so they like I Vanderbilt and Carnegie and Rockefeller, they didn't contribute a damn thing to the building of those corporations except provide money. That's all. The employees did the real work. The employees the employees are the company. Without them, the boss would be nothing. So I'm not in awe of our capitalist uh CEO class. Now I have to rant about the debt ceiling impasse. While we're in an impending crisis, while we're in danger of default of our of our debts and the possibility of economic catastrophe for the nation and the world, Congress goes home for for the Memorial Day weekend. It's as if the impending economic disaster won't happen to them, but they're well taken care of. Huge uh salaries, medical care, nice pensions. How many of them don't show up for uh on the floor to do the legislative stuff? This calls for President Biden, and I will repeat this over and over and over again. President Biden must absolutely invoke the Fourteenth Amendment, which says that the federal government must honor its debts and suspend the debt ceiling, or maybe cancel it altogether. It was implemented right towards the end of the First World War, and it has been raised under Democratic and Republican administrations and Democratic and Republican Congresses for uh constantly for dozens of times, but but the federal deficit only is a concern when the Democrats in the White House. The real target is the programs that the Republicans want to eliminate. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Benefits, SNAP, which is the successor program to meals to food stamps, meals on wheels programs, education, all that's gonna be cut off. And this is the same Congress that that voted for tax cuts for the billionaires. How's it look like if you if you uh raise up all kind of debts and then you quit your job and have no source of income? Stupid, right? Well, nobody can outstub the Republicans in the House. So President Biden, if you can hear me, fourteenth amendment, do it and another rant. The company the department store chain target and the Anheuser Busch Brewing Company, the the owners of the Bud, Budweiser and Miller brands, have been badgered time and again by far right maniacs over their decision to reach out to the transgender community and the gay community in general, constant complaints and harassment, and these big bad corporate moguls not realizing there's no more stigma anymore to being gay or trans or whatever, they j those companies just caved into them. Just collapsed. These all powerful corporations and their CEOs are just are they really wimps? Put pressure on them and they'll fold. It's another reason for us to challenge them. And also particularly and also challenge the far right gay hating, trans hating religious fanatics trying to impose a so-called Christian nationalist regime on this country. I say so-called, but there's nothing related to Jesus about this drive toward the dominating the country. Okay, I'm ranted out. And now advertisements.
