I speak about the dangers of gentrification, and the need for working and low-income people to involve themselves in the political process; When violence is justifiable; the Senate confirmation hearings of Ketanji Brown Jackson; and the need for Medicare-For-All.
Hello, hello, hello, John Mason. How is everybody? In this fine first Saturday of Not in April. One problem that cities and neighborhoods face is gentrification. That's when a real estate developer, uh I could say Donald Trump, comes into a neighborhood and they develop and they build uh all kind of luxury apartment and condo buildings. And in the process they chase away the established neighbors and small businesses that have been there for generations and raise the property taxes so the so that the residents can't pay them and they're usually they're usually uh working class and low-income and minority communities. And that is not acceptable. It's proof positive that working and low-income people simply have to involve themselves in the political process. Cause these real estate developers go before city councils and they try to impress uh city council members about these magnificent plans for economic development that do nothing but uh make richer billionaires and chase away uh working class uh and low-income people, the people who really are the city. I will encourage it continue to encourage everybody to take part in a political process so that they can uh learn about and resist these uh problems. Do I really have to get into the Will Smith, Jana Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock issue, and the Oscars? When is violence necessary? Let's just say I'm I have no problem with violence for self-defense. Self-defense. I myself have been bullied and harassed and teased and bicked picked on and mocked for so long as a kid. And I was expected to put up with it. But then I realized that was a crock of horseshit. You have every right to defend yourself, physically or otherwise. You're worth defending. You're a person of value. Just like any year old grandmothers uh pick up AK-47s in Ukraine to defend their country against Russian invasion, so you have a right to defend yourself. Not necessarily pick up a an assault rifle, but do what you can to protect defend yourself. You're worth it. Speaking of worthwhile people is Katanji Brown Jackson. Judge Jackson is definitely, I believe, a shoe-in to uh to be elected, to be uh appointed to the United States Supreme Court. She has all the credentials. But but the uh but the committee hearings have a toll loony bin of uh rec conservative uh Republican wannabes, Republican presidential candidate wannabes wanting to uh trying to get expecting to um uh appease uh the Trump base, base in every sense of the word, by playing on uh homophobia, transphobia, and uh racial prejudice. Like Josh Hawley going off about uh whether or not Judge does Judge Jackson believe that uh sexual offenders are punished enough. That's that's a shadow to the um uh to the human non-conspiracy theorists. Uh that's what they're that's their big thing. The idea that Democrats and Hollywood elites are are part of this big pedophile ring. And Marsha Blackburn uh uh trying to get the the definition of the term woman, playing bond of transphobes, and Ted Cruz holding up a anti-racist uh kids book, trying to teach kids that racism is a no-no. Asking, he's daring to ask, are babies, do you think babies are born racist? Oh man. These are the people making laws in Washington, that people are actually voting for them. So let us vote for people who will do a way better job of representing us, the American people. We deserve it. And one thing we would deserve is, as a right, as a right, not a luxury, not a commodity, is medical care. So many people get sick and they go to the doctor, and they have to go to the hospital and get all kinds of surgeries and medicines and and uh therapies, and to get thousands and thousands of dollars in hospital bills. And of course, of course, they'll try Republicans will try to slough it off as uh bad lifestyle choices of well you should should exercise more, should cut back smoking and drinking, etc. That's not the point. Perfectly fine and decent people get sick or have injuries and and they need care. And we have to campaign constantly for Medicare for all. For all. Like fortunately, I'll be sixty-five in a few months, and I shall qualify for the Medicare program. And it would be great if uh anybody they could go from six on up, or from birth, from birth uh qualify for Medicare. Healthcare belongs to all of us, education belongs to all of us, our government belongs to all of us. Okay, that's my rant of the day. Don't worry more to come, Catsikins.
