Hello, hello, hello. How is everybody? This is John Mason. Tomorrow is Mother's Day. And that is a time we pay our respects to all the women in our lives, our mothers and our wives, and our girlfriends, and our sisters, and every other woman that we come across. Happy Mother's Day, ladies. And if we want the best for the women in our lives, we must protect the reproductive rights. There are all these states going around that places the most onerous restrictions on abortions. Like you only have an abortion after so many weeks before you even know the woman even knows that there's a fetus inside of her. And you remembered uh Katie Brett, the senator from Arkansas, who had this very ham bad case of ham acting after Biden's uh State of the Union address. Is that the best Republicans can do? Well, anyway, she has this bright idea of a database. She's proposing this bill that would establish a database for all women who are pregnant. Hello, hello, hello, John Mason. How is everybody? Hope you're all well. I saw the clips of when uh Trump was at the National Cathedral with his demon brood, and there was and I heard a the sermon by the rector the uh pastor of the National Cathedral rector, whatever, the right reverend Marianne Edgar Booty. I hope I hope I pronounced that name right. Archbishop Booty uh spoke spoke to Trump directly about compassion for the the unfortunate among us, particularly immigrants and homeless people, people who are down and out, talking just like Jesus spoke. And what does and later on in the week the US Conference of Catholic Bishops put out a statement urging Trump to show compassion for the poor and downtrodden and immigrants? I wouldn't count on it. Compassion for people on the bottom, that is that is not a Trump trait. They don't deserve any respect to him, as far as he's concerned. And after Bishop uh Booty's uh sermon, the whole right wing uh media apparatus freaks out, calls her a lunatic, a maniac, a radical, and all she did was say what Jesus would have said. Is that what's happened to evangelical Christianity in this country? By by saying that the things that, like I said, Jesus would have said on the Sermon of the Mount, showing compassion for uh the homeless and the helpless and the powerless. American Christians are screaming against that. It's all degeneration. It's like every like they have this idea that even Jesus is too soft for them. And they call themselves Christians. That's uh that's a sample of what they're up against. But I am pleased that there are Christians who talk like Christians, who act like Christians, and they are genuinely uh compassionate towards the helpless and downtrodden as like food with food banks and uh and working in homeless shelters, that kind of stuff. Knowing the value of it of all human beings, including and in particular uh immigrants who gotta look over their shoulders constantly so that ice doesn't for watching out for ice, uh homeless people, junkies, better down people, including LGBTQ people who are constantly getting attacked. We need to let's we need to make sure that those voices are heard. And now I gotta talk about the ice raids are on. The immigration agents are going through uh certain cities like Newark and Philadelphia capturing people as as they're at their uh work sites, doing their work, arresting them. It's not just uh undocumented workers that are copping the swoop. They there's also full fully fledged citizens, for permanently documented citizens, including people who have been in military service. But the ICE agents don't care. They they have those people too. Which is something to think about for all of us who think, well, it's not gonna happen to me. Uh I I have my papers, I serve my country, I'm uh I keep my mouth shut about politics. They're gonna get you anyway. That's it. That's what that's one of the uh uh the problems with the old tradition of so-called rugged individualism. I mean they might get the cu family next door, but they're not gonna get me. Oh yes, they will. And the way to fight back is to show solidarity with each other. Take part in the local affairs of our of our neighborhoods, take part in our institutions, and we'll and don't be afraid to stand up and speak up about what Trump and his minions and his mini-mies are are doing. Stand up, stand up and fight back. Let our voices be heard against this nonsense. Okay, that's all for now and now advertisements. All this media work I do, which is like this podcast and my YouTube channel and my blog and my poetry, is work. I get paid to I need to get paid to do this. This is no time to be looking out for number one or hiding in the bunker or something. We need to band together. In our institutions, in our houses of worship, in our unions, in our political clubs, wherever. We must unite and stand up to Trump and all his minions and everything he stands for. That's how we'll get through this. Okay. So I wish you all well on this weekend. Keep warm. Okay. Okay. Have a good weekend. Uh shalom. Bye.
