I speak about the needless war on Iran.

Hello, hello, hello, John Mason. How is everybody? Hope you're all well. The war in Iran drags on. I see it as a continuation of uh the post-Cold War hubris uh power that the United States had, you know, after the war. I mean, all the European countries were uh uh were impoverished and they couldn't afford to continue their empires. So they gradually faded them out. There was some some fight, some resistance, like Britain trying to hold on to Kenya, and France trying to hold on to Vietnam. But it was perhaps it was inevitable. I believe it was inevitable. But it took the fight of the people in those countries, the resistance to make it happen. And I remember the attitude that that we had after the war, that we were the most prosperous and powerful and virtuous country on the planet. And and we were spreading our prosperity and our virtue and our democracy of a sort to to other countries like Vietnam, which didn't work out, and and actually we our our power let's let's call it our empire. Our imperial status did not uh uh was not always used for good, to put mildly. Like with uh like with Iran in 1953, with the overthrow of the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Muzadik and the and reinstalling the Shah with the help of the CIA, and how the CIA uh in 1954 did a favor for United Fruit Company in Guatemala when the government tried to uh stage a land reform, you know, transfer uh old unused uh land farmland to poor farmers who needed them that that United Fruit owned and and didn't put to any use. And and Vietnam our fiasco in Vietnam trying to prop up a government that was supposed to be an alternative to the communist regime in uh Hanoi. CMD myself, and also trying to prop up the pathetic uh uh regime, so-called moderate regime in El Salvador, trying trying to um trying to tell us in the United States that that uh they're they're having elections, the uh the leftist rebels are being around, and they're having a nice moderate government that's that had which in reality had no had trouble trying to ring in to had trouble trying to ring in the uh the the rightist uh death squash uh running around uh the big cities, which was comprised of the same military and police and security forces uh we were trying to train. And apparently there's some nostalgia for that, which is uh which I believe is part of Trump's uh been hankering to acquire Canada. Remember that from last year, and Greenland, and Mexico, and now he's making eyes at Cuba. And let's not forget how how he how he used our special forces to unilaterally uh uh seize the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Don't get me wrong, I have troubles with with Maduro. His regime was corrupt and repressed, but Trump couldn't care less about that. He didn't mind a dictator in running uh Venezuela, just as long as it's he was the dictator. And kept the rest of the government in of Venezuela in place. Which just brings us to our 250th anniversary as an independent nation where a group of uh slave holding affluent white men uh uh hammered out this document, this wonderful, beautiful document that said all men are created equal. The die or bound by it, their creator with individual with inalienable rights, blah blah blah. You know the rest. And written down by Thomas Jefferson, who was having too much fun with a slave girl while well while writing these beautiful sentiments. And now the Americ we the American people have to make our stand. We're being occupied by Donald Trump and his goons. Donald Trump has been utilizing his uh his ice thugs to terrorize cities in this country. And there's been even talk and let's not forget the 17-page report uh memo that was given to him by uh Allied attorneys advising him to uh uh declare some sort of emergency and seize each state's uh voting systems. Be where be aware about that. Watch out for that and get ready to fight. So, Americans we have a working out for us. Be a res America must be must indeed be a responsible player in the in the world. We do have responsibilities in the world, given our power and might. But we cannot abuse it. We cannot succumb to the dark side of the force force. We we must reclaim our country. We must hit the streets and hit the ballot boxes and exercise our rights, a right to freely demonstrate, our right to express our opinions peacefully, our right to worship in a matter we believe in, and definitely the right to vote. Okay, that's it for now, and now advertisements. All this work I do on my on my media, this podcast, my my blog, my uh YouTube channel, my poetry, my fiction, all work. That's the fight we have on our hands. And let's not be weak about it. Along with our imperial uh history, we have a people's hi democratic history, where people uh stood up for the rights and the rights of others. The abol the early protesters against British rule, the abolitionists, the the women's suffragists, the labor leaders, the civil rights movement, the feminist movement, the gay movement, all of them. It's part of our heritage, our DNA. Let's never lose it. Thank you. Have a good weekend, shalom, bye.
