Episode 73!
Meet Mike Kaeding. Mike joined his family's real estate business with the intention to not stay for long. Those plans changed quickly when the owner of the business, Mike's father, passed away suddenly, leaving Mike to step up and lead the family business. A business he knew very little about! Mike struggled, learned and grew. Those struggles led the business to face one challenge after another and Mike continued to take one more step and solve the next problem.
His determination ultimately resulted in the business surviving and then, the fun started as Mike began applying best practices and lessons learned in other industries to set his company apart. Specifically, he focused on building a strong company culture and in-sourcing as much of the work as possible rather than use here today, gone tomorrow subcontractors. That strategy has paid dividends as engaged, valued and heard employees began improving the business one project at a time. Now, Mike is focused on transforming how housing is built to make it more affordable for all.
