After our conversation with our guest speaker last week who is a practicing Therapist- Emily Davies on EP-04 "How to have Healthy Conversation?" She emphasized on how Self-Care can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact.
The World Health Organization for example has produced three much-cited definitions (in 1983, 1998 and 2009). The WHO 1998 definition is: "Self-Care is what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health, and to prevent and deal with illness. It is a broad concept encompassing hygiene (general and personal), nutrition (type and quality of food eaten), lifestyle (sporting activities, leisure etc.), environmental factors (living conditions, social habits, etc.) socio-economic factors (income level, cultural beliefs, etc.) and self-medication."
In this episode we are focusing on "What is Self-Care?"
Our goal for this episode is to assess which areas of your life need some more attention and self-care. And reassess your life often. As your situation changes, your self-care needs are likely to shift too. Finding time to take care of your mind and body can feel impossible. By challenging your assumptions about self-care, you can find an approach that works for you.
