Is a good tan the remedy for jaundice in babies? Can eating lots of carrots really improve a child’s eyesight? These are just some of the questions that many parents have encountered—and may still be seeking the answers to.

In this episode, Duke-NUS alumna Dr Karen Nadua from the Class of 2011, now a Consultant with the Infectious Disease Service at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, debunks common paediatric myths, explains why babies, children and adolescents are not just small adults, and shares about her role in ensuring that little ones grow up healthy.

Tune in for a warm, relatable conversation about a specialised kind of care that has brought comfort to both children and parents alike.

Highlights from the conversation include:

  • Why paediatrics is about more than just caring for infants and little children
  • What actually happens in a paediatric clinic
  • A paediatrician’s role in the village that raises a child
  • How Karen doubles as a “detective” in uncovering causes of illness in her babies, children and adolescents
  • Her journey into paediatrics and advice for aspiring paediatricians
