Season 4 Episode 4: Jesus Greater Than Moses: Why the New Covenant Changes Everything

1) Jesus has been found worthy of a greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of the house has a greater honor than the house itself (Hebrews 3:1-6).
     A) Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:1-10).
     B) The Law of Christ is to love God with all our being first and then to love others as ourselves (Mark 12:28-34).
     C) When we were under the written code, we operated in the realm of the flesh. Now we serve in a new way through the power of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:13-26).

2) For if there has been nothing wrong with the first covenant, no place would have been sought for another (Hebrews 8:6-13).
     A) The old sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, but it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin.
     B) When Jesus Christ came into the world, He came to fulfill the will of His Father in heaven, and now animal sacrifices for sins are no longer necessary (Hebrews 10:14-18).
     C) Jesus is the seed of promise given to Abraham.  The law was brought in as a guardian until Christ came so now all mankind can be justified by faith (Galatians 3:19-29).

3) The finished work of Christ is what saves us and not our works of righteousness.
     A) Saving faith should produce fruit of righteousness through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 7:13-28). 
     B) Did you come to faith in Jesus Christ by following the law or by placing your faith in His finished work on the cross? (Ephesians 3:1-13).
     C) Man has two choices when they die.  They can be judged by their own individual works or righteousness or they can allow the High Priest, Jesus Christ, to make an atonement for their sins.

Discussion question: Does a praying a prayer of salvation actually save you?  How can you be sure that Jesus Christ is alive inside you and that you are the temple of God?
