Troubling Trafficking with Adrienne Graf and Meg Panichelli
Nov 23, 2022 Season 1 Episode 5

In this episode, Jess Clark, Director of Sexual Violence Prevention for the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, interviews Adrienne Graf and Meg Panichelli about how the collapse of language around sex trafficking harms sex workers and sex trafficking survivors.

Adrienne Graf is a white femme lesbian with multiple chronic illnesses and disabilities living in Portland Oregon. She is a licensed clinical social worker and Assistant Professor of Practice at Portland State University. On Adrienne’s path to becoming a social worker, she was increasingly interested in and concerned about how both social workers and domestic and sexual violence organizations respond to, and intervened with sex workers and people who have been trafficked.

Dr. Meg Panichelli is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education and Social Work at West Chester University. Dr. Panichelli’s teaching and research are grounded in feminist approaches to social work, namely those that incorporate anti-carceral, queer, and intersectional theories of oppression. More specifically, she is interested in the role social workers play in the criminalization of already vulnerable communities.
