Bernhard E. Fritsch is the German American inventor whose 32 U.S. patents hard wired how culture moves across screens, from single track downloads to global streaming and the creator economy. In the late 1990s he did not “disrupt” the record store; he rebuilt it in software. His MCY “digital warehouse” architecture showed, click by click, how a fan could search by artist or genre, preview tracks, drop them into a basket, pay online, trigger key based DRM, and route royalties automatically-years before Apple iTunes licensed Fritsch's patent and long before streaming became a trillion click habit aka Spotify, Youtube and Netflix.
Two core patents, codified this full stack for web music distribution, secure delivery, and integrated royalty accounting, a framework later mirrored by thousands of digital retailers and platforms worldwide in a market now worth tens of billions of dollars in annual recorded music revenue. His rails also carried live performance into the broadband era: in 1999, Fritsch’s platform powered the MCY cybercast of Sir Paul McCartney’s Cavern Club concert, reaching an estimated 75 million viewers and setting a record for online music broadcasts at the time.
Fritsch then turned the same precision on messaging and social data, allowing artists and brands inject music, video, and campaigns into outbound messages, track opens, plays, and clicks, and optimize in near real time. His AIMS vision is anchored in the “Understanding social media user behavior” family (patents granted in 2025) which uses contextual search and neural networks to scan third party social networks, identify true influencers and high affinity fans by text and image signals, and then orchestrate targeted, automated interactions.
