The Sacred Journey of Jonah
Each year rabbi's take the opportunity to remind their congregations of Jonah during the Sabbath between Rish Hashanah/Yom T'ruah and Yom Kippur. This special Sabbath establishes a precedent for all the days on the coming year. On that day, we admit our shortcomings, ask forgiveness of those of whom we may have offended, and seek to grow closer to the G-d of Avraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Indeed, this holy day is symbolic of the Rapture and should be taken very seriously. We do not know the day or hour, but we do know the season.
