Noir Confidential draws upon the era of filmmaking known as Film Noir. Today, the genre is called Neo-Noir, but the same concepts, tropes, and techniques are used to reflect today's feelings of inevitability, cynicism and defeat. The pessimism, distrust, and greed displayed in classic Film Noir movies like "The Maltese Falcon" and "The Third Man" speak to a society racked by geopolitical conflict and economic disparity. All the elements that sparked the Film Noir heyday have returned to haunt society, and a new class of cynical anti-heroes and manipulative Femme Fatales have arrived to exorcise their demons by finding their elusive MacGuffin. Occasionally we will present a classic radio play from the 1940s and early 50s: some Dashiell Hammett (Sam Spade) and Raymond Chandler (Philip Marlowe), but to be completely upfront we are here to promote audiobooks in general and more specifically my own books like Deception, Delusion, Dilemma, Diversion, and Defection.Coming very soon is a special Noir Confidential Premiere Exclusive, CULT - The Podcast Movie. That's right podcast fans, we're bringing back Theatre of The Mind, radio plays for the podcast era. CULT is a movie script I wrote based on a short story published in my book Noir II. I've rewritten the story and turned it into a movie script. It is currently being produced as a special presentation just for my podcast subscribers. I hope you enjoy it.

Author and Screenwriter, Jerry Bader and Voice Actor and Sound Designer, Sash Mutze, got together to create the AudioZoo Podcast Network, a platform for presenting immersive radio-style podcast dramas (Theatre of the Mind) for a mature audience interested in the Neo-Noir style of storytelling: adult tales of desire, struggle, and survival.

We follow Alfred Hitchcock’s aphorism that stories are real life with the dull parts taken out. Although our tales of corruption and survival are fiction, they are in fact a funhouse mirror of reality, with characters that push the envelope of acceptable behaviour, while remaining all too human and remarkably relatable. These are tales of complicated, damaged souls with good hearts: a reflection of an era of cynicism, fear of war, and social disruption.

The Collector - Season 1
Meet Joey Sokoloff, a collector, like his associate, Louie Zoboli. Both men work for mobster Momo Kastle. Joey is a nice guy, not a good guy. He’s smart, stylish, and sophisticated, especially when it comes to women and music. Joey isn’t averse to violence, but he’d prefer negotiation. He’s a problem solver, and the problem at hand is money.
It seems Louie got carried away when trying to collect a debt from sleazy bar owner, Ozzy Bianchi. Now, Ozzy is dead, and Joey has to find a way to clean up the mess and get Momo paid. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Ozzy owed money to a Chinese mobster, the beautiful and sexy Toni Tang. And as far as Toni is concerned, Ozzy’s debt is now Joey’s. And so our story begins.
