Matthew Lesson 35: Following Jesus
Matthew 8:18-22 is the text for this sermon entitled, "Following Jesus."
This section of Matthew recounts two potential disciples who approached Jesus with declarations that they each intended to become his disciples. Jesus, who could read a person's heart, responds with insightful reactions to what he saw in their hearts. He pointed out that there wouldn't be any home for those who followed him on his preaching mission. He instructed that the choice to follow Him meant leaving behind family, friends, jobs, etc.
We today must count the cost of discipleship.
