Matthew 13:47-52 is the text for this sermon entitled, "Kingdom and End of the Age."
As we continue moving toward the end of all the chapter 13 parables, it is not surprising that Jesus prophesies about the judgment at the end. Like fishermen who sort out the good from the bad fish, a time of separation is coming. Jesus’ teachings encompass quite often “end of the age” references. In these Jesus mentions that it could come at any time, and that angels will accompany the event. He purposefully asks the question of his disciples, "Do you understand?" And he ends with another brief parable of the discipled scribe, like a houseowner who has treasures "old and new."
