[00:00:00] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh, no. Oh, no. Do you like my sweater? I

[00:00:08] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I love it. It's so

[00:00:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: love it. Thank you.

[00:00:10] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: You have a new one on the way. That's the right spelling. And your book is on the way.

[00:00:16] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I love that. You're the best. I'm so excited to read that. I'm like, I've got three days blocked off so that I can just read the book.

[00:00:24] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yay!

[00:00:25] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: terrible? Not like it's going to take me that long, but like I have kids and like, you know, you know, all of that. So,

[00:00:33] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: cute on you. I love

[00:00:34] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I'm so, I'm so excited. I love it too. It's super comfortable.

[00:00:37] I love it. It's lovely. I love that it's embroidered. It's quality.

[00:00:41] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yes. Yes. I'm so blessed.

[00:00:44] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I want to hear yours, too.

[00:00:46] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Thank you. It's

[00:00:50] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: If you don't know this voice, Where have you been? Living under a rock? Because we are here with Libby. The Secrets of Esthetician. That shit's trademarked. Don't try it. She'll come for you too.

[00:01:04] And we're actually going to get into talking about building a Facebook community but also how freaking hard it is and it is not that easy. Am I right?

[00:01:20] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: shit show is what it is. Let's

[00:01:23] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I know you even asked me, you were like, are you sure you want to, like, start your own community? And I was like, yeah, I'm tired of all these weird ass groups.

[00:01:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Well, yeah, I mean, that's the reason why I started mine. I think most people that start their own group, that's the reason why. They've been kicked out of so many groups. They're like, fuck it. I'm just going to start my own group.

[00:01:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, it's so weird, and you know, we were talking about that, and I was like, yeah, you know what? I get it. I know why you, I resonate with you because you said the main reason, like you just said there, the one, number one reason why you started your own group is because you are tired of other groups bullshit.

[00:01:57] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Well, yeah, I'm tired of the bullshit, and then I'm just tired of people kicking me out. I still get kicked out. I'm not in very many anymore. In fact, I

[00:02:02] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh my god, same. Same.

[00:02:04] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, so I shared one of your classes. Someone was interested in permanent jewelry. I shared your class. Yeah. A few days later or whatever, I got a notice, you can't do this.

[00:02:11] I had my post and like, this is the thing. So when Facebook groups were like super popular, came out, I don't know, like eight years ago or whatever, like

[00:02:21] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:02:22] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: only allow like, okay, so I own a wax company, so I'm only going to like, Promote my wax company. Well, that gets boring after a while, right?

[00:02:29] Like we can only hear about one wax company forever There's more than one way to do things and there's enough business for everyone So when I started, uh, so I kept getting kicked out like I got kicked out from posting either day It's like I understand people like owners of facebook groups Can't like post every single side hustle because everyone has a side hustle and that's okay

[00:02:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Okay.

[00:03:02] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: like, you know, or what's, you know,

[00:03:04] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm.

[00:03:04] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you know, what's the best oil to use or what's the best sunscreen or whatever. And people would get, get mad.

[00:03:10] And I was like tired of like fighting with these women that were like, My age had been in the business for a long time. Most of them

[00:03:17] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:03:18] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and we're like, no, you can't do that. Or like, I would, I'd be like, Hey, I have a wax class. Can, is it, do you have paid promotions? Just wondering, you know, and this one woman, I won't say her name cause I don't need any more season to this, but she said, um,

[00:03:31] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I got you, girl. We got you. Chandler's got your back.

[00:03:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you know, you know, anyway, So, um, she's like, I've been in the business for 17 years. Why would I promote another esthetician? And I was like, Oh, whoa. Okay. Well, obviously we've got some, you know, we've got some, some issues

[00:03:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Scarcity mindset.

[00:03:50] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah, but they're not being enough business. And, you know, we're really taught that like, I think as women, you know, that there's not enough business when everyone you see is a potential client.

[00:03:57] There's billions of people in this world.

[00:04:00] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:04:00] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you're not in and out burger. Like you don't need like, you know, 4, 000 clients a day to make a good living. So

[00:04:07] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh. There you go. All right. Thanks. Thanks guys. God bless you.

[00:04:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: ramble. I can really go. So I just, it was during COVID and I saw that all these students were not, they had no hands on practice. And so, you know, I'm a, my expertise is waxing brows in Brazilian. So I'm like, I'm going to start a little group. We'll see if anyone joins. And then I'm a makeup artist too. And so I have makeup artist friends all over the country and I wanted to like share their brands and be like, Hey, like this company is really good and they stay catered to small brands and blah, blah, blah.

[00:04:40] And, um, so I started it in COVID and then just kind of like grew organically. I think one of the reasons why mine grew more organically than maybe some of the others out there is because I encompass more than just, let's say estheticians. So I have estheticians. hairstylists that wax.

[00:04:58] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:04:59] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: at beauty school students, which the makeup artist is we don't have a ton of makeup artists compared to the other two categories But I invited the whole community.

[00:05:08] I wasn't like, okay No, you can only be a hairstylist or you know, no you're going to be an aesthetician You've got to be licensed. You can't be a student. It's like what's my whole thing was like I want to help the next generation like

[00:05:20] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:05:33] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: the new students. Like, you know, because There's not a lot of, I feel there's more now, but more leaders to usher on. Like hairstylists, they have like lots of leaders that like teach and want to mentor and share their stuff for the next generation, but like aesthetics is just a big bitch, you know? Like people are fucking mean. Like some of my bestie, best friends and besties like you now are people from across the country that I've never even met,

[00:05:59] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Right.

[00:06:00] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: in the world, and I can text you at four in the morning and you will be like, I'm gonna help you, here you go.

[00:06:05] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:06:06] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: hard, you

[00:06:07] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: It's hard. It's hard. And like, like you said with the Facebook groups, like, how is it, how is it a true collaboration or a true community when you're not giving options to people? And I understand, I understand that part. We've talked about, you know, monetizing, helping you monetize your group and doing those things and having people that pay to promote.

[00:06:26] Like that's, that's obviously a very good step for your Facebook group, right? That's, that's, you get to a point to where like you do have to start limiting essentially the advertising because then it just becomes a big mumbo jumbo and it's not a community anymore. However, when you block, when, when actual people are blocking real referrals, real experiences from others,

[00:06:50] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Right?

[00:06:51] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: helping the community at all.

[00:06:54] You're not helping. You're not helping anyone. You're not helping your group grow. You're not helping your community get insights to have other opportunities. You're literally business blocking them because you don't want to piss off somebody who's paying marketing to you. And I've had that happen to me before.

[00:07:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, which is like ridiculous and your group is you're not only are you gonna lose engagement with your group people are not going to be interested because if you put up a post and say What's the best wax and you're only you guys know I use waxness and I only allow waxness Well, there's a million other wax companies that are great.

[00:07:31] I'm not going to shit on them I'm going to tell you why I think it's better Well, I might shit on a few of them, but I won't like I said, I don't want to get in trouble. But

[00:07:38] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: With good reason. I'm sure you've, I'm sure you've educated yourself fully and you've made an informed decision and why you choose not to use something else. That, there's a difference. Yes.

[00:07:48] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: if someone puts like, okay, so their day, of course, someone asked about wax. I said, I like wax. Someone said they like Italia Wax. I don't shit on Italia Wax. Good for you. They're a decent company. I haven't used their wax, but a lot of people like them. Go ahead and talk about them. I don't

[00:08:03] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:08:08] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: worse. I'm getting kicked out of more groups because I, I keep recommending other people that I know that have, that are, you know, that have done the work, that have the numbers to show it, you know, and that just like. note not to poop on anyone, but like if you just started in the industry, why are you teaching a class? You

[00:08:27] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:08:30] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: the time, but whatever, that's another side cast. if

[00:08:33] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:08:34] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: allowing, like, people to express what they use and why they like it, like, you're gonna have a

[00:08:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:08:41] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Bottom

[00:08:42] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Well, you are and you're damaging, you're essentially damaging the industry by trying to control it. You're trying to literally just feed your own agenda and at that, at what point, at what point do you need to take a step back and self reflect, especially when you're in control of literally like 50, 000, a hundred thousand plus aestheticians, beauty, you're Business owners and, you know, students, they're seeing all this stuff when you, when you don't have access to real recommendations, that's manipulated marketing.

[00:09:09] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah,

[00:09:10] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: If you're blocking real recommendations from students, like why are you getting kicked out? Because you're recommending a course that you've actually taken

[00:09:17] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: So, yeah, exactly. So

[00:09:19] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: weird. Yeah,

[00:09:22] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: wanted to know about permanent jewelry. Well, just getting into permanent Julie. I have, my sister has taken Athena's class. I'm going to take, I'm taking Athena's class. I've seen her numbers, I've seen her stats, I've seen her Google reviews, I know she's a real person, I know she's been doing this for a lot of years, I know she made 170, 000 last year doing it.

[00:09:40] That's

[00:09:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: yeah.

[00:09:41] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I'm interested in. And I want to say, hey, take a look at this. You don't have to buy it. You know, but don't say like, is there permanent jewelry, and then block someone. It just shows insecurity. It's just like, People don't really rise like that. It's just such a shame, but that's why I started my own group.

[00:09:59] So if someone says who's permanent jewelry, I will approve the post and whoever wants to post it. And that's what my way of letting business owners like you, like, okay, I'm here. If I spend time in this Libby's group, like I'm going to see a post like this, I can put my link.

[00:10:14] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:10:24] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: what kind of wax do you like? They put their wax. That's fine. But I will tell you the ones, the people that actually are monetizing from Facebook groups like mine are the ones that sit and answer questions for the new people. And I know

[00:10:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:10:48] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: That have been an

[00:10:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:11:10] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: god. a little bit about

[00:11:12] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Hopefully.

[00:11:13] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you know, I mean I you know, i've graduated in So that was a million years ago and I know they're better now But 600 hours is in california. That's not a lot of time to learn about the skin, right?

[00:11:24] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: 2, 2 20 here in Florida, Florida.

[00:11:28] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: That

[00:11:29] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: they dropped it, I know,

[00:11:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: for aesthetics.

[00:11:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: two 20 for aesthetics. I did a 600 hour program, but we still got the same damn license that a 240 hour at that point, 240 hour facial specialist license got. So there was no difference in our. Medical Aesthetics Program that was subscribed to us in the 600, except for the fact that the school qualified to allow us to get financial aid.

[00:11:55] Whole nother thing. Whole nother episode. Yeah,

[00:11:59] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: these most of these um schools

[00:12:02] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: it's so that they can get funding through financial aid.

[00:12:06] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: mean maranello I can say them. They got I don't know if you know about them. They got um, you know, they got

[00:12:11] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Shut down.

[00:12:12] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, they got um, what what's the word they had to close their business because they were doing so much financial fraud

[00:12:21] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Um, so they probably got, I can't remember what the term is called legally, but yeah, they definitely got shut down.

[00:12:27] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, they got

[00:12:28] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They got de credited.

[00:12:30] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and they are disgusting and like all these that was before but all these students like have lost hours It was a pain in the ass and I worked

[00:12:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh, yeah.

[00:12:37] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: tiny time and they're disgusting. Sorry,

[00:12:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: no. Yeah, you can say that. It's your opinion. You're allowed to have that. And if that's legally what happened, then it's not. Guess what? Guys, here's a little tip and trick. It's not slander or defamation if what you're saying is true. And also, we do have freedom of speech here, where it comes to like, if it's your opinion, and you say, this is my opinion, you can say whatever the fuck you want.

[00:13:04] Especially on my podcast. Especially on my podcast. Mm hmm. Mm

[00:13:09] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: that are trying to grow your group, I think like if your whole thing is like I want to sell Let's just use mine because this is my category. I want to sell wax glasses You

[00:13:20] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: hmm.

[00:13:21] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: gonna buy my wax class if every single day I'm just posting, buy my wax class, buy my wax class, why should you buy my wax class?

[00:13:28] Like,

[00:13:29] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Right. You're not marketing to your community like

[00:13:32] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you can't bombard people every day with your, uh, monetary agenda, right? So like, you will even see in my group, like, I don't post my wax class as much as I should, um, because want it to be a place where people can come get information. And if they happen to want a wax class, I will put my waxes, but I don't bombard people with that because I think that's being done in a lot of groups, you know,

[00:13:55] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: always. Yeah

[00:13:57] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Constantly with no information like not a lot of information.

[00:14:00] So in my group there's a lot of people that have like real challenges. Like we had a girl the other day and she had like, um, it was her first histamine reaction with a Brazilian match. She'd never seen it before. She'd never been trained before. And so she was like panicking, you know. So a lot of us gave constructive criticism.

[00:14:16] Then you always get like the Karens who are like, I don't know what that is. Well, maybe she didn't have access to her class. She doesn't know where to get the class. She's brand

[00:14:26] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah

[00:14:26] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you know. So then you get all these people like, you know, Fighting with each other and that's that's a challenge too to get people to speak to each other nicely But then people like take things the wrong way also and then a lot of people don't want constructive criticism So we had someone the other day.

[00:14:43] I'm just gonna stay in my category because it's easiest to explain said someone had a reaction. My first thing is always do you have a photo like with anything with skin hair?

[00:14:52] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:14:53] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: thing goes wacky you ask for a photo because some

[00:14:55] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: You need to see, yeah. Okay. Bye.

[00:14:57] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I need to see it. So people, this people had already answered the question I asked, and did you see a photo?

[00:15:02] And her response to me was, no, I asked him to send one the next time. So I can't really help you if you don't want to do the steps to help this person. So

[00:15:14] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:15:15] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: don't want to hear, also a lot of people don't want to hear constructive criticism.

[00:15:20] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:15:20] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: can be very hard too. And I understand that, but we can't grow without constructive criticism.

[00:15:25] So when someone gets a bad Google review or Yelp review.

[00:15:29] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm hmm.

[00:15:30] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: on this like you gotta see what happened, you know You can't come into these groups and post something whether it's a reaction or a review or whatever and say what happened If you don't know what happened

[00:15:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah,

[00:15:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you need to take some training. You need

[00:15:44] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: customer service training, customer service training, if everyone took a customer service training, they would approach these communities completely differently with an open mindset with not without judgment, because what happens when we start judging, then we start fighting, right? Because then we get into beliefs and how we approach things.

[00:16:02] Customer service, like you said, treat everybody like they're your potential customer. Yeah. Yeah. Because you never know, they could be.

[00:16:09] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: right

[00:16:10] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They could take your wax horse, they could want to join a group, they could want you on their podcast, they could want to have your advice on something, having 20 plus years in the industry, are you kidding me?

[00:16:18] You can't go out there and be like, well, that's stupid, you didn't get a picture. You could have said that, you're probably thinking it, but you're like, mmm. Next time, here's the steps you should take to prevent this from happening. And then, when you want to come back to the group and, and, you know, Ask your question.

[00:16:31] Next time just post it with your photo so we can get some constructive criticism and see what happened. Easy!

[00:16:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah, and so yeah, so people will come on and they'll be like or they'll get like they'll post these rants This is really popular right now They'll post these rants about like this customer was late and I you know She was 10 minutes late. And so like I I told her she couldn't come in. They're all upset and i'm thinking You're

[00:16:54] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: That's so awful. I see that too. I stay quiet on this. I'm like, that is so wrong.

[00:16:58] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: fully booked with a list. If you are, what are you doing in my group all day long? If you don't have a wait list this long, what are

[00:17:04] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, yeah,

[00:17:05] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: take that client and you accommodate, like people get sick, kids get sick. There's traffic. There's all kinds of things. If you don't have that time booked out for people to be 10 minutes late, you're going to be turning everyone away.

[00:17:15] And then at the end of the

[00:17:16] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: yeah,

[00:17:16] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you made?

[00:17:18] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: yeah,

[00:17:18] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: absolutely insane. I'm like, do you know how hard it is to get a new client? And you're turning them away

[00:17:23] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I don't.

[00:17:24] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Wait, like

[00:17:25] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They don't understand.

[00:17:27] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and like people get off on it They're like, well, I turned them away because they were 10 minutes late and that's my policy Well, good luck with that.

[00:17:34] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I've heard, I've seen so many posts about that in, in groups. And like, I, I do, I normally stay quiet. Cause I'm like, okay, first of all, whenever people see my name, they're like, oh, fuck you, S. E. Bestie, your trademark socks, blah, blah, blah. So I like, stay quiet, even though I have a wealth of knowledge to like, you know, share with everyone.

[00:17:52] But I'm like, when I see those, I just kind of like eyeball at this point, because One, I know people end up being the help desk. You end up being the help desk in your Facebook group.

[00:18:01] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yes

[00:18:02] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Two, it's not cool to be mean to other people. Why are we glorifying being mean and rude and unkind and also like unforgiving to people?

[00:18:10] That's not, that's not the goal. That's not, that's not the goal to be a woman in business. And I find that that, Like you said, it's just on trend and people are like, they get off on being mean and rude and disrespectful and like, Oh, I said this to somebody in some Facebook group. Look how big I am.

[00:18:28] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah,

[00:18:29] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: are you really?

[00:18:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: totally.

[00:18:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: That's what we're doing. We're not putting the client first anymore. First of all.

[00:18:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: No, the client it's like the client is the enemy. I'm like you realize that's your boss, right? You went to

[00:18:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:18:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Because you got sick of a boss that probably treated you like shit, right?

[00:18:45] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:18:50] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: because if you don't they're not going to refer they're not going to write a review They're not going to tell their friends and family like I mean, it's like it's crazy to me every day I see this or I see and I think to myself you canceled this client and I always want to say this but I don't Because I to argue

[00:19:06] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: because then you don't want to start an argument or fight.

[00:19:09] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, so like

[00:19:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: One of the downsides of a Facebook group. Yeah.

[00:19:18] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: You Do you have time booked out to clean? Because then you use that time. So this girl got a, she got a complaint from someone because the people were late. I can't remember why. And so her short, her facial was shorter.

[00:19:31] The people complained and said they were going to write a bad review. Right. And I'm thinking like you had it and it was two people, like a mom and daughter or something. You have the opportunity to wow these people, but now you're, now you're, you know, you're, you're shitting on them cause they're 10 minutes late.

[00:19:45] When I have two people that are pissed off on you and the studies show that if someone's pissed, they're going to tell more people than if they're happy.

[00:19:52] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They're going to tell 10 times more people that they're angry, and someone who's happy is going to only tell three people. So how hard do you have to like, you really do, you have to really take care of those people and nurture those people that are coming through your door,

[00:20:05] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Absolutely.

[00:20:06] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: you an opportunity to wow them.

[00:20:07] And also like service recovery. Let's talk about service recovery. You're 10 minutes late. They're 10 minutes late. Totally fine. Guess what we're going to do. I know it's going to be a shorter amount of time. I'm going to add in something special for you so that it can sit on your eyes while we're doing this to kind of make up for that lost time that we have.

[00:20:24] It's communication and it's utilizing your skillset to increase the value for them in a shorter amount of time. You should be able to do that as an esthetician or service provider.

[00:20:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: that's how you're getting a clientele

[00:20:37] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Exactly.

[00:20:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: when I first started a million years ago, I was a spa director and I would get all the, and at my next job too, where I was a senior esthetician,

[00:20:45] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm hmm.

[00:20:47] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: had a shitty experience, they would come to me for a facial or whatever, and I would wow and gal them.

[00:20:51] And then those people all became my clients. yeah, it got annoying doing all the people that were pissed off, but I mean, I was a waitress for five years during and after college. So, people that have been in the food service industry are amazing at this. Um, dental hygienists are amazing at this industry.

[00:21:05] Um, really, people that have been in retail, like, they do really well because they, like, They don't get upset. They're like, okay, how do I handle this situation?

[00:21:13] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:21:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I just, it's such a shame because it's going to, there's one girl in particular in my group. She's constantly coming back with things like this.

[00:21:21] And I'm like, you know, when are you going to learn that the client is your boss?

[00:21:24] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah. When are you, when it's time to start taking customer service courses and a lot of these, you know, I feel like. You have so much opportunity with your group to like own the customer service department, especially being former spa director and customer service, like literally connoisseur, essentially.

[00:21:45] You have so, you have so much opportunity to own that for a course for you, just FYI, because tips and tricks on how to be nice to your clients, customers, and other aestheticians are not shared ever. And, and we're out here. Literally, we're out here glorifying being a solo esthetician, not sharing how actually hard it is, selling the dream without any realistic goals or clouds to step on, right?

[00:22:10] We're not watering the garden. We're not making sure we're planting for the next season. And I mean, I could go on and on, but like, really, what the heck? What the heck?

[00:22:19] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Well, yeah, and that's what I'm so excited that you're coming out with a course for this because I, um, you know, constantly people are like, you know, I need, I, you know, where people are building these businesses on mushrooms instead of like

[00:22:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:22:32] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: know? And I know, cause I did that too. Like, if you guys don't know, I worked for other people for 18 years before I

[00:22:37] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:22:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: what the hell I was doing.

[00:22:39] I still sometimes don't know what I'm doing. I made a

[00:22:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I'm still learning.

[00:22:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, but that was like the reason why I started my facebook group too is because like oh god I've done so many things wrong I want to try and spare some people from the shit that I have done, you know

[00:22:50] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:22:51] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: like The pretty pink room with the pink sign like I didn't have that till a few years ago I started in a dumpy room, you know, I started a room that was like Disgusting like the bathroom door didn't lock the blue.

[00:23:02] The walls were blue The the owner of the salon was a bitch like the dumpy room Electricity didn't work like it was a dump, but it was 50 a day And it was what I could afford and I had no plans I started from scratch because I left the whole clientele so I was like, okay I I'm gonna you know, I'm not in a Beverly Hills like salon like I was before in Del Mar I'm in a shit show, but you know what this there's a start.

[00:23:22] I have to start, you

[00:23:24] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, you do.

[00:23:25] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: want like the room that's so pretty with the pink sign shit And it's like if your skill set isn't there you're never gonna get this

[00:23:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Just cause your room looks nice doesn't mean you give a good service.

[00:23:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: no,

[00:23:35] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Just cause you got a pretty face doesn't mean that you're a good person on the inside.

[00:23:40] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, exactly. And it's like your skills have to you have to be an expert if you're taking money from people You know, you have to do you have to take classes I think you know a lot of people are like well I'm gonna go to youtube and learn how to do permanent jewelry. I'm like,

[00:23:54] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: YouTube University! It's not for me!

[00:23:58] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And there's only so much information you're going to get from free because what those people are usually doing is trying to sell something else, right?

[00:24:05] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:24:05] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: they're doing something free, they're like, okay, I want you to buy my supplies, which is okay if you want to do that. But like,

[00:24:10] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:24:11] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: going to get the ins and outs, the dirty from anything free on YouTube. I

[00:24:16] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:24:17] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: it's not going to be as detailed as taking a class. And so the more money you put into a class, hundreds or thousands of dollars, you're going to eventually get that back.

[00:24:25] I promise you this. The best thing I ever did was start doing high level coaching.

[00:24:29] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:24:29] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: won't say the names, but I spent, and so did Athena, we've spent a lot of money on high level coaching and it wasn't always the best, but I wanted to earn that money back and you better believe I used those

[00:24:38] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I utilize every single, every single piece of information that I possibly could, that I knew I could apply to my business. I tried everything that I was presented. I didn't say no to anything that was offered to me. I absolutely took advantage of. What I had in front of me and implemented what I could implement and learn as much as I could possibly learn.

[00:25:02] And then if it didn't work for me, that's okay. I'm not going to go blame my coach because this system didn't work for me. No, that means I need to sit and I need to look at my clientele and see what works for my clientele and adjust and rinse and repeat and adjust. And that's, that's something that people forget in this industry too, is like, just because it works for me, doesn't mean it's going to work for you.

[00:25:22] Just because what Libby does works for Libby over in California, does not mean that it's going to work for Athena over here in Florida.

[00:25:28] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Right. Right. And then sometimes it's like, you know, you'll take a course and you'll be like, well, that wasn't that great. And then like later on you'll be like, Oh, I'm going to try that. And then it works. And like, it might be one little thing that you learned, but it changed a ton of things in your business.

[00:25:42] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:25:43] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I think

[00:25:43] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:25:44] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: expectation where like they'll take the class and then they're going to like pop out of it. And then they're going to be like, you know, a seven figure earner when, um, You know, it's the first week that they've done it, you know, it takes

[00:25:54] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:25:55] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: everyone wants everything now.

[00:25:56] And look, I do too. Like,

[00:25:58] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:25:59] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you know, we become a society that wants everything now, but like building a business takes time, but you can cut the chase if you take a class from someone like Athena, who she's showing you her numbers, guys,

[00:26:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:26:15] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Um, but like do it from someone that has done it. Like there's this, Someone in the industry that wants to teach these classes and I've been talking to her and I'm like, but you haven't done it You

[00:26:27] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: can you teach someone the steps if you haven't walked the steps? Down the path.

[00:26:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I Don't know. There's someone that

[00:26:33] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: It's the fake it till you make it mindset for me that I just don't get.

[00:26:37] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: know and there's all these people selling this stuff like these eyelashes like we're gonna get you all these clients and this and I'm Like someone had posted it and I I don't know this person that teaches this class But I said have they done it

[00:26:47] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:26:48] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: business like this if they

[00:26:49] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Where's the numbers?

[00:26:51] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, then perfect.

[00:26:52] Like, look at their reviews. Like, look at everything. Like, you know, reviews are everything in this industry. You know, reviews and email lists

[00:27:00] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Real reviews, not just testimonials that you can put on your website that you made up. Google, Google my business, y'all.

[00:27:09] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah, I've got a girlfriend here. She needs help. I'm helping her. And she's like, well, I have a million reviews on, I can't remember, Vegaro or one of those, Lost Genius. I'm like, that, that's not doing anything for you. They, you need a Google business page.

[00:27:21] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:27:22] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: where a class like yours comes into handy where people like, know the steps of like, okay, I'm going to start a business.

[00:27:27] This is. is the first thing I do, not like, you know, the 14th thing I do.

[00:27:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, having those systems organized for you, like from like point A to point Z is what I feel like a lot of people miss out on because as solo estheticians, we go back and we were in the Facebook groups were trying to gather all this information, right? And then we're hiring coaches and we're like, and our brains kind of just become like overwhelmed.

[00:27:52] Yeah. And we're not, like you said, giving ourselves enough time to test and to build and to get our systems in place. And then you have those people on the other spectrum who don't even get started because they're too busy following every single step of the way. So it's like you have to find a good balance there.

[00:28:10] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah. And I think estheticians are overwhelmed with, oh, I have to go out solo right away. Like, no, you

[00:28:17] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: 100%.

[00:28:18] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: You

[00:28:18] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They think that.

[00:28:20] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you can go work somewhere and get experience, make friends, make connections, get as much education as you want, as you can, because When you're at a beauty school, you don't really know what you're doing. You don't, you don't know what you don't know. And that's one reason why in

[00:28:34] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:28:34] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Facebook groups, we get so many people with reactions that they don't know how to, how to fix or to talk to the person or anything because they haven't been

[00:28:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Okay. Yeah. Okay.

[00:29:04] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: the clients. So they never saw that my booking system sucked and that, You know, I had, you know, accountant problems and all the bullshit on the back end.

[00:29:12] They never knew because I knew what I was doing in my table. But like, if you don't know what you're doing on the table, like Oh man,

[00:29:19] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:29:20] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: two huge problems because you've got people that are not happy with your service because you're not an expert and then your backend is a disaster, you know?

[00:29:28] So then you're just like pulled in a million directions because you're

[00:29:31] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Literally drowning. Drowning.

[00:29:32] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you're calling your booking system. You're, you're out of products. Like someone's mad. Someone's got a Yelp page over here going on Yelp page or, you know, whatever, and you've got all kinds of shit. And I'm just like, yeah, we need someone with a system.

[00:29:44] I had a client. I had a girl in my group who posted not too long ago. She had burned someone on a, her steamer had exploded, and she had a huge burn. Actually, I need to check in with her. And it had happened on her hip and it was bad. And so I started messaging her, you know, my first thing was, and in, and even in the Facebook thing, and a lot of people said this, you know, call your insurance. document everything and don't do

[00:30:06] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yep.

[00:30:06] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: to be taught. she didn't have insurance because

[00:30:10] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm.

[00:30:10] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: under her salons insurance. Okay.

[00:30:14] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:30:15] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: she had been an esthetician for three years and I'm like, okay, well that's problematic. First thing, first thing you do is you have, and I always say this in all my groups, get insurance.

[00:30:24] My insurance has 175 a year. That's free people.

[00:30:27] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: That's with ASCP, right? Because that's what I have.

[00:30:30] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I, that's a good one too. I have hands on trade. ASC pay is also very good. I do recommend them, although I've never used

[00:30:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They're expensive.

[00:30:37] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: they're, but they, but they have a lot of resources for new estheticians.

[00:30:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They do. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,

[00:31:03] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: of and i'm constantly talking about the insurance like so here's another perfect example This girl doesn't have insurance, you know, and her client was really being good with her But like it was a bad burn And so I was I was talking with the girl and it wasn't her fault It was a malfunction of the steamer But at the end of the day, it's your fault because you didn't have insurance and

[00:31:22] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: yeah, general liability, liability and service insurance. They're all different things, babes, all three different things.

[00:31:29] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And you can't play with that, you know, and

[00:31:31] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:31:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you've got a lot of people that are going to, you know, going to people's houses that, you know, don't have insurance. Like that's a whole nother podcast for you. But like, you know, you need, you guys need to protect yourselves because wacky shit happens. And it also happens when you're not trained properly and you're using, you know, chemicals on people that you don't really know that well about.

[00:31:49] You don't know skin types, you don't know skin disorders, you don't have, you're not making people sign a consent form. Like you are setting yourself up for a nightmare at some point.

[00:31:58] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Is

[00:32:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: right away. She frosted right away. Thank God she was okay. But like, and I think that's the one time in my career I was like,

[00:32:20] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: it a salicylic peel?

[00:32:21] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Um, it was, it was one of the enzymes. But

[00:32:25] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Really? And you brush your broasted?

[00:32:27] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yes, Skinscript has some strong ass shit, and, sorry,

[00:32:31] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh, wow.

[00:32:32] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: much in

[00:32:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: That's okay. Thanks.

[00:32:34] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And so, like, and a lot of, it's a good line for people to start and try on, but do the training. There's so, Skinscript has so much free training. The woman that started that is amazing. Do the training, and then you've got to do it on yourself, because, You know that just because it's more of a natural line with their enzymes.

[00:32:51] They can be strong.

[00:32:53] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: A papaya one that I use literally turned me beet red and I literally had to call and I asked you bestie Jackie. I was like, Jackie, why am I so red? It's like, my face is inflamed. And she was like, I've never seen that before. What'd you use? I was like, I use skin script. She's like, it's that strong. I was like, I guess so girl.

[00:33:08] I guess so.

[00:33:10] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah. Yeah Okay, so I'm sorry. I'm totally getting off. What more do you want to know about for learning? Building your Instagram group.

[00:33:19] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Okay. So Facebook groups, like.

[00:33:21] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Please

[00:33:21] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: There's, there's groups out there, like Libby's group does not monetize for advertisement right now, but I know, like, eventually, that's a point that you need to get to. You have, you have too much influence with your group at this point to where it, it's, I'm gonna tell you, it's stupid that you're not.

[00:33:39] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah.

[00:33:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: It's stupid that you're not.

[00:33:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I need to step into that space I just didn't want this is what I don't want with my group. I don't want it to be all day

[00:33:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:33:49] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: buy this wax, buy this wax, buy this wax, buy my wax. You know, people know

[00:33:52] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:33:54] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I'm an affiliate, like many people out there.

[00:33:57] There are a lot of girls that are affiliates with Wax Nest. I do, I do, I do train for another of the train trade shows once in a while. And I have one coming up in Vegas where I'm doing, um, two free Brazilian wax classes. But I don't work for Wax Nest, I work for

[00:34:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:34:10] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And so, um, I didn't, I

[00:34:12] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Well, you get to choose who you affiliate with. Like, that's the thing, too, that people don't understand.

[00:34:17] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and the thing is like, if I do go that route, it's going to be expensive because I don't want the whole thing being, okay, you can advertise for a hundred dollars a month, you know? And then it's just like, I've got people fighting because I want to be the wax person and I want to be the microderm person.

[00:34:31] And like, I'm not fighting with all that. Like,

[00:34:34] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:34:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: But yeah,

[00:34:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:34:36] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: of a lot of the groups monetize and then that's all they want to push forward you know in their group and I think I mean, I understand about monetizing and it's like a commercial but like you got to give people options. You can't

[00:34:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, you have to still you have to allow like there's a difference between like an exclusivity advertisement rather than like paying to advertise

[00:34:57] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yes.

[00:34:58] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: or having space or having a tab or something like that that people can go to. So, like, those there's different ways to do it. And I've seen many. I've seen a couple of these Facebook groups really fail and burn a lot of bridges because they've done it wrong, which is a great opportunity for you to learn from and do it the right way, because we learn from failure.

[00:35:18] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I just, you know, when I go into some of these groups and well, like I said, I'm not really in very many more. I just got kicked recently got kicked out of another one and I'm not sure exactly what I did cause I never got a notice, but I'm sure I probably mentioned waxiness too many times when people were asking for wax, like the, the people will say like, Oh, what's a great wax.

[00:35:38] And then, you know, you can say like waxiness and some issues, but you can't post a link. And it's

[00:35:43] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:35:44] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I'm making it easy for you to post a link. And if I'm an affiliate and I'm answering questions about what kind of hard wax I like from them, soft wax, whatever the thing is. And I'm putting in time, like, okay.

[00:35:55] But first of all, like what value does that do to anyone? If I'm just posting, okay. Waxness. Waxless has like 18, 000 waxes. Like,

[00:36:03] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Right. Yeah.

[00:36:07] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you know, they don't want that. They only want their wax, you know, in the group. And it's like, okay, there's groups like that.

[00:36:12] I've gotten kicked out of a lot of them. Where they only want to talk about wax.

[00:36:15] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Well, it's funny when you get kicked out of other groups, and then it's like you find that those group owners are now in your group. Isn't that funny?

[00:36:22] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Oh yeah, I've had that. And I've had people try and poach people from my group. I mean, I've been called like every, not by other group owners I haven't been called that, but I've been called like, twat, disgusting. I had, a few years ago, I had a very big esthetician, won't say their name, do a reel on me calling a job at the Hut, saying that I bought fake followers, all because I wouldn't do it. wouldn't approve the post that they wanted to oppose.

[00:36:46] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I'm dead. That's hilarious. I just laugh at that stuff now.

[00:36:49] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I did a, I did a reel on it. Um, so I used it to my advantage, but

[00:36:54] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: There you go. Yeah. Mm.

[00:37:00] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: of TikToks. About roller wax and she wanted to know what one she could buy on Amazon And I was in a mood that day and I was tired and I just shouldn't have answered

[00:37:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Silence. Silence. Silence.

[00:37:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: that's not licensed that's in my group.

[00:37:32] Right. So then I was getting along or in duty school. Right. Cause those are the people that I serve. So it's like, why am I going to give a lot of information for someone that's not in our industry, at least licensed or beauty. So she went crazy on me before she went crazy on me. I had said, you know what?

[00:37:46] I'm so sorry. I'm tired. I will totally help you. Rollerbacks is one of my, one of my expertise. Ask me any questions, you know, and so then I have even dm'd her and I said, you know I'm, sorry for being a bitch like, um, let me send you some roller wax She went off on me that she called me a twat. She called me all these things I'm condescending and in in the thing I said, did you know this is my group?

[00:38:10] Like I can say whatever I want I might not be able to say what I want in other groups But this group I can say

[00:38:15] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, yeah, I

[00:38:16] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: so people get really and it was partly my fault like

[00:38:19] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: mean, like, well, this twat owns your comment in that group, so.

[00:38:23] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I was just like, you know, I, you know, since I've had conversations like that, and sometimes I'm just tired and I'm like,

[00:38:30] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:38:30] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: really? Like, really? Oh, there are people like, I had posted something, and this is what gets annoying as a Facebook group admin. Like someone had posted something, I'll just say it was about trash cans. Um, what's the best trash can? And I said, um, this white trash can is a great trash can. And I said the name of the trash can. And then they wanted to know all the features about the trash can. Well, then I'm

[00:38:52] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: the size, is it, what is this a Facebook marketplace thing where it's like, what's the measurements? I'm sorry.

[00:38:58] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: they wanted to know all about the trash can and it's like um, google it like and I wasn't gonna say that But yeah when you start becoming the help desk then when you that's when you get salty and you're like Fuck man, like I am. I am not the help desk like

[00:39:11] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, for 50, 000 plus women and men up in the beauty industry, that's one of the things about a Facebook group. Like be prepared if your group does get big, it does become a full time job.

[00:39:23] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: It's a lot, it's a lot, and

[00:39:25] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. That's great.

[00:39:26] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: have a really, some really great people that help me, um, but yeah, it's um, and it's gotten a little bit better because there's different systems where you, it can automatically, um, approve people, and then automatically

[00:39:38] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: you.

[00:39:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: approve people, so it's gotten a lot better,

[00:39:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: You can block certain words, hatred words, things like that. Amazing.

[00:39:45] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Um, and you know, if you do start a Facebook group, I do suggest that you, um, you know, obviously it's beauty industry, if this is someone that likes selling chairs and happens to listen to this, obviously that's not going to pertain to you, but like they should have a license and they should list their license.

[00:39:59] That's public knowledge. Or at least if they're in beauty school, what beauty school, when do they graduate? Um, you should get their emails for your email list. You know, if someone, and they should have a profile photo. If someone doesn't have those things, they don't get in my group.

[00:40:12] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, I like that.

[00:40:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And then you want to pull those emails for your marketing for whatever like, you know, whatever you're doing And that's how you will monetize eventually from it, you know And if people I get people all the time, they won't answer the questions, you know, and at the

[00:40:26] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I decline.

[00:40:27] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah at the beginning I did that because I that they didn't answer all the questions and if they didn't have a profile photo I was all like, okay, and then I was like, you know, but we need to see who this person is You

[00:40:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:40:37] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: a lot of and then there's like, you know, a lot of fake profiles There's people a ton of people that just want to sell manufacturing overseas and stuff So it takes a lot of time to sit through all that crap.

[00:40:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:40:49] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and it's like, you know, um That's one of the things like have your and be really like starting with your even I don't care if you have 50 people In your group, you'll have 50 good people instead of 100 000 people where half of them are trying to You know, only post their wax all day,

[00:41:03] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, yeah, that's how that's hard managing managing a very large Facebook group is so hard without systems. When you have systems, just like a business when you have systems, it's easier to manage your business when you don't have systems, you will constantly be running around like a chicken with your head cut off.

[00:41:23] Because one, you don't know how to put the fire out, two, you don't even know a fire is happening over here. And you're just, you're gonna get overwhelmed and you're gonna get burnt out faster. And I'm seeing it happen a lot with it just in general, just like in aestheticians in general. Not only like Facebook groups, like growing a Facebook group is, is flipping hard.

[00:41:40] It's not easy.

[00:41:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah.

[00:41:42] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: How did you grow? I know you did organically, but how, like what was it that like made the secrets of aestheticians grow so big?

[00:41:51] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: think I, okay. So, you know, I'm an old esthetician. So I know a lot of people. So I invited my friends, like someone like Jeneda Griffith, who's one of my SD besties that I've never met in person, but I

[00:42:01] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm.

[00:42:02] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: COVID. So I'm a little different like Athena. So like, if I see someone, an esthetician or even a hairstylist, um, posting something that interests me or makes me think or intrigues me, I will like, sometimes I will reach out to them and be like, Hey, like, I really liked this post and whatever.

[00:42:18] So I did that with Jada Griffiths. She had written something during COVID and it was like, you haven't. If you're not, um, taking advantage of the COVID time, you're just basically said you're just lazy, you know,

[00:42:31] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: True. Yeah.

[00:42:39] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and whatever.

[00:42:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Okay. So, this is a really good old school, really good old school system.

[00:43:01] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Um, and so people resonated with her. And then I think they just like told their friends, like, Hey, this is a cool girl in this group, you know? And then I did it with my other friends.

[00:43:10] And I was like, well, and with me, I shared, you know, I don't like to share like the pink sign and stuff, because that's super, like, I like to share like

[00:43:18] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: right,

[00:43:21] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: In 2018, I was making minimum wage and 10 percent and 10 percent on commission, you know, and

[00:43:26] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: yeah,

[00:43:26] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: a kick ass waxer. Like that's not, there's something wrong

[00:43:28] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: and you had already been in for like 10 years at that point.

[00:43:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah. Like don't do, don't do this. Like, yeah, now I'm

[00:43:34] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:43:34] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: better, but like learn from my mistakes because. You know and there's just like so much toxicity out there that no one wants to talk about or a lot of people don't Want to talk about I want

[00:43:44] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:43:44] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: about it because I don't want you to go through it

[00:43:47] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Heh heh heh.

[00:43:48] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and that's the whole

[00:43:48] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:43:49] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: mentioning and taking classes is You cut the line for someone else like when I started taking classes and even like last night I took a class i'm constantly taking classes,

[00:43:57] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Same.

[00:43:59] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah,

[00:43:59] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I just took a Facebook ads class. We were chatting about it.

[00:44:02] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah, like I'm like I took uh, an instagram class this week I'm going to take another photography class like people that take classes will constantly take other classes

[00:44:11] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm hmm.

[00:44:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: oh, you're so good at social media I am not good at social media I work really hard to do what I do and there's a lot of people that are a lot better than me But like if I can do it, you can do it Like if my mom can figure out instagram like you all can figure out instagram

[00:44:29] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah,

[00:44:29] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: get up

[00:44:30] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: and also, you're not doing, you're not doing everything possible to get your clients.

[00:44:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: No, no, and you're just being lazy and you know, just complaining that like you don't want to do social media. If I hear one more person say that I'm going to scream.

[00:44:44] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: It's a business essential. We said this four years ago when COVID happened, like social media is now an essential skill that you need to have as a business owner and a part of your business. Unless you are a hundred year old business that has had clients up the wazoo for the last hundred years.

[00:45:02] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah,

[00:45:03] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Solid really like if you are a new business and I'm saying like the last 10 years or so And you don't have social media people aren't going to find you.

[00:45:12] They're not going to trust you They're not going to go spend their money with you. They're hard earned inflated dollar lack of therefore With you and you need social media and now social media isn't the only thing to get you clients That's a whole another aspect of it, but you need it. You need the social proof.

[00:45:32] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: absolutely. And then I tell them, I get this question. I'll I'm in all the time from stylists that work here in Minnesota to people that I co do these 25 minute coach everyone and all ages, all levels

[00:45:43] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm hmm.

[00:45:44] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And they say to

[00:45:45] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah,

[00:45:45] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: social media, I don't like social media. I don't, I'm not like you.

[00:45:48] I don't want to be on camera. You don't have to be on camera all the time, folks.

[00:45:52] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: right.

[00:45:53] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: You can show your products. You need people to come to look at your social media and feel like they know the space. Like

[00:45:59] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yes

[00:45:59] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: on camera all the time. Like Athena and I are, you do not, but you have to show what you do, how you do it and your results. And once

[00:46:06] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah

[00:46:06] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: got to pop on and like, if you're not comfortable with it, throw a filter on your thing. Like I do filters all the time.

[00:46:13] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Filter baby.

[00:46:15] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah. Like, I'm

[00:46:16] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: sponsored.

[00:46:17] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: weight, you know, you've gained weight. Are you kidding? I gained 30 pounds of a COVID. You think I wanted to show up 30 pounds overweight when I'm five, two.

[00:46:24] No. said, you know what?

[00:46:26] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: 40 pounds Hashimoto's and might be going on a Zempig because of my insulin levels. Woo woo!

[00:46:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah. Yeah, like, we're all, we all have shit, and this is the other thing, like,

[00:46:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah,

[00:46:36] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: cares.

[00:46:37] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: nobody gets

[00:46:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: what you

[00:46:39] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: real people. They want a real person. That's changing a lot to social media. Social media from four years ago is not the same as social media now because the needs of actual connection from people has changed in the last four years. They were rude and odd and wowed to begin with, right?

[00:46:57] But now once we're being more educated as consumers, which I love, by the way, we're being more educated. We're having the guts to have more conversations and real conversations about business and operations and finances, things like that. It's not taboo anymore. Let me catch my breath. Now people want to see who the actual owner is.

[00:47:16] behind the brand. People want to invest in the person. Even when you look at like sharp tank and all the people that get deals, what's the number one thing that they say? I like your numbers, you know your stuff, but more than that, I believe in you as a person.

[00:47:32] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: absolutely. And there's room for everyone in the industry. And you don't have to be like an old esthetician me. Like I see estheticians that like are fairly new that are killing it. And

[00:47:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh my God. Yeah. Same.

[00:47:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: they, they are working hard. They are taking classes. They have mastered their craft. They're not

[00:47:47] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: They got their systems, they got their opt ins, they got their funnels, they are marketing, they're hiring for this and they are crushing it. Absolutely.

[00:47:55] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And so you don't have to be an old esthetician. You just have to put in the work. So you've got to do the classes. You've got to, you've got to. Keep, keep taking classes until you've got everything tight. So those numbers come in good. But yeah, I mean, like you don't have like, there's opportunity for everyone at every level.

[00:48:09] And if you're an older esthetician and you just started, well, no one knows how long you've been doing aesthetics. So if you're over 35 or whatever, and you're in beauty school, you're not old. That's

[00:48:18] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: If

[00:48:19] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: to go.

[00:48:19] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: you've been in the industry for 20 years, like that's an advantage that you have over a new esthetician.

[00:48:25] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: then you have life experience. So it's like, there is room for everyone. Everyone you see is a potential client. That's why we're always wearing our brand. Everywhere you go, you should be wearing your brand. This is why I wear, that's why Athena wear, I sent Athena a shirt. You like, you know,

[00:48:40] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: My Mike Tyson estheticians,

[00:48:43] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yes!

[00:48:44] Like,

[00:48:44] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: it was my Mike Tyson shirt.

[00:48:47] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah! Like, you go to Starbucks, you have your shirt on, you have your cards ready, like, how many people do you see a day that need a friggin brow wax, you

[00:48:54] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:48:54] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Just, you, people need to step into their power and not have it, wait for someone to grant it to

[00:48:59] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Well, also not be afraid of it. Not be afraid to be like, Oh, I'm a new business owner. Amazing. I, I personally felt that little battle in the beginning. Like, Oh, I'm a business owner. I don't know how to say like, I'm a coach. I'm an, I'm an esthetician. I'm this, Oh, I just own this. And then like, you get to a point where you're like, no, I built a brand.

[00:49:17] I'm a brand owner. I design products. I'm a patent owner. I got a trademark. I got my shit together and my business. And now I get to help others do the same. So like you do, you need to like step into what you're good at. You need to lean in. That's the theme for 2025. Lean in. You got six months to lean in.

[00:49:34] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: And if you just started your business,

[00:49:37] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm hmm.

[00:49:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: You step into your power. You graduated from SS, SS, SSU. You like, you beat out all the bullies and you got through all the bullshit and the teachers that didn't know what they were talking about and all the stuff and the horrible product probably and barely working on clients.

[00:49:51] So

[00:49:52] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: The crusty ass towels.

[00:49:54] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah. You step into your power and say, I'm a licensed esthetician. And

[00:49:58] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: hmm.

[00:49:59] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: to own this category, I'm going to be the best waxer I can, and this is how I'm going to do it, and I'm going to get help when I need help. Because we don't know everything. I mean, I'm constantly, like, getting help

[00:50:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Learning. Educating. Absolutely.

[00:50:12] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you can't be good at everything, and yeah,

[00:50:14] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: No.

[00:50:15] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Like, you guys all know you gotta spend money to make money, it's true. And I know you don't have money, but you gotta find it. Like, go Uber. Go bartend, go waitress, get all those people to come to you, have them write reviews, like there's a way to build and stop worrying about other people, what other people are doing. Stop

[00:50:30] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Amen.

[00:50:31] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: big estheticians that have done what you haven't done yet and just don't follow them. Do not

[00:50:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:50:37] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: you feel bad.

[00:50:39] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:50:40] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and we spend so much time scrolling, stop scrolling and go take a class. Seriously.

[00:50:45] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Go take a class. There's not a day that you can't make money. As a human being, there is not a day that you can't make money. And if you don't have that mindset, you need to take a class on self development and mindset. Because, There's not a day, I do not fear, I do not fear having zero dollars.

[00:51:05] If tomorrow, if tomorrow failed, my business was gone, everything was gone from me, guess what? You know what I would do? I would literally do it all over again. I would do it differently, faster, better. Obviously, as I've learned, but I wouldn't fear having zero dollars. And I think that's one thing that a lot of people are driven by too, is like the fear of not making money, the fear of not seeing like, Oh, you're booked out schedule and, and all these other things.

[00:51:33] I'm like, that's scarcity mindset. Stop doing that to yourself. You're getting yourself in an anxiety ridden loophole that you can't get yourself out of because you can't get yourself in the right mindset of, there's not a day you can't make money. Period. Yeah.

[00:51:49] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: looking at other people's stuff because, like, I do waxing, right? It takes me a lot more waxing than it does a girl, a girl across the hall to do two facials, right? So stop worrying about what everyone else is doing, or they've got two clients and you've got, you know, you have to, it takes you eight clients, like,

[00:52:03] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Comparison. Yeah.

[00:52:05] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: stop.

[00:52:06] Just stop. And just stop looking at other people's shit and focus on yours. focus on your own business.

[00:52:13] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. I feel like, I feel like anytime that like, I've had controversy when it comes to like the business side of it, it's because other people are like jealous or, I don't say jealous because that sounds like mean girlish, but They're insecure about what they're doing. So now then they start comparing and making excuses and why they're not doing as well as I seem to be doing, which by the way, I only show real numbers and real things.

[00:52:39] Y'all know, I'm not taking clients right now. I haven't taken a client since last July. Why? Cause I had to take a step back from Bessie and focus on permanent jewelry business, and that's okay too. When you close the door. To walk into a room, to peek inside, that doesn't mean that door is locked behind you.

[00:52:55] You can go back through that door. You can backstep. It's okay to backstep. And it's okay to know that you can backstep and make mistakes. And that's what people are afraid of. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:53:20] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: going and going and getting services.

[00:53:22] Like when was the last time people there, I want people to ask, answer this in their head. When was the last time you went and got a facial somewhere? When, when was the last time you went to another esthetician to get a Brazilian wax. You also learn so much by doing that. When I used to do facials, I was such a kick ass massage, their massager.

[00:53:41] Why I was doing my facials arm, neck and face, because I had gone to amazing people and taking class, but also the experience of going to someone that's really, really good. So it's like you go to other people, be the client. Like I don't do my own resilience. I go to my friends because I like the experience of like, what else is someone else doing even after all these years? And also you have to

[00:54:01] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Or if there's something new that you didn't know about, oh, let me try that. Does that work for you? How's it working for your clients? Great. They love it. Amazing. I bet mine would love it too. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:54:11] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and like everything changes and there's not one way to do anything. So it's like my education is power

[00:54:18] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Agreed. Agreed. Education is power. Facebook groups are a shit show. But you can manage it well learning by the failures of other groups and getting kicked out. And if you do want to start a group because you feel like you don't resonate anywhere, that's totally fine too. No, it's going to be hard work. No, you're going to be the help desk for a long time.

[00:54:38] Know that you're going to have to set boundaries. You have to be strong in your boundaries and know that if you don't grow it to be 50, 000, that's okay. You've got however many people that are there to see you, to support you, to support that group and to build a community with those amount of people.

[00:54:53] And that's okay too.

[00:54:54] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: well, I think that there is a really big opportunity for estheticians and I've said this but I don't think many people are doing it is to Go to uh, sorry. My sister's texting me is to start a face If you do not have a facebook group in your state that is specific to helping other estheticians with the laws You Start one, like we have one in California, which is, um, this woman Wendy runs it, and it's all about like state laws, um, What all the laws are, I mean there's other things too that we talk about, but it's like focused on helping estheticians, like, With their license, or their business license, or all the business stuff, So it's like, you, if you're in Alabama, you start a Facebook group, so, um, Estheticians of Alabama. And so you want to invite estheticians, you know, so that you can all get together and fight for the right to, you know,

[00:55:43] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah.

[00:55:43] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: or microneedle or whatever you guys are trying to get through. And then make sure that you're going to the state board meetings and get involved so that you, things aren't taken away from you.

[00:55:51] Like in Florida, you guys got, um, which I'm gonna call it taking micro, not microblading.

[00:55:57] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, we got, um, recently we got micro needling, micro channeling and micro needling taken away even under the scope of a tattoo license because that was a loophole that we were able to use before. But now we can no longer do any of it, so like, hey, my ProCell device that I got, I I can't use it unless I have a medical director here literally on site.

[00:56:16] Not just one of those little like texas subscribe And get your monthly medical director bs stuff that they do over there. I'm, sorry, texas. That's weird to me. You can't rent a doctor That's weird to me. That doesn't seem right at all. That's my opinion. I'm saying it. I put it out there Come for me in the comments.

[00:56:32] That's fine. You'll abuse my engagement. Whatever so

[00:56:35] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Totally.

[00:56:36] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: weird

[00:56:37] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah. So like if you're any estheticians watching this that like kind of want a facebook group or you want to or you have like I really want to fight for dermaplaning Start a group. I promise you you want to grow a group Estheticians of Alabama, invite Estheticians in, get involved in your state board, and then that's a way you can grow your group, and then you can do other things like talk about whatever you're passionate about, flexing or whatever, but like we need Estheticians in every state to start Facebook groups to advocate for our business.

[00:57:06] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, exactly

[00:57:07] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: add more, we can keep adding more modalities. We can't even use lancets in California. Like, we just got dermaplaning, lash lift, brow lamination, and tinting after years. Wendy, who runs California Aesthetic Alliance, she, um, went ahead and, um, Has been

[00:57:25] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Okay. very much.

[00:57:50] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: and more. We need people with licenses to go to state board meetings and saying, you know, and get involved instead of like men that don't even aren't even the aesthetic room.

[00:58:00] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah. Yeah. That's another thing too. Like you can go to a Facebook group and bitch all you want, but like, what are you actually doing to make a difference?

[00:58:07] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Yeah. And that's one way. And

[00:58:09] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: stop looking at Facebook groups as like, like, yeah, this podcast is called tea time, but it's real issues in the beauty industry. That's the tea, right?

[00:58:16] It's not gossip. It's not, Oh, I heard X, Y, and Z say this thing. And no, it's like factual information. This is what's happening. This is what you need to do. If you have a license. And you have a department of health in your area and you actually don't agree with what's happening Why don't you call them say?

[00:58:32] Hey, when can my voice be heard or start a petition? There's a couple petitions going around right now in the aesthetics group. I know emily Um with elevated aesthetics She has one in Arizona that she's got going on a petition. She's got, we've got, um, who is it? Asia's Ashley. She's got a petition going on to hold companies accountable that use estheticians as sales agents and then start selling direct to consumers.

[00:58:58] Right. We've got that petition going around. There's, there's tons of things that are happening that the people don't realize that you do have a voice in your community and in your industry, although it may be state specific, you need to start stepping up and you do have options.

[00:59:12] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: yeah. And you don't have to have a big Facebook group to make

[00:59:14] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Right.

[00:59:14] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Like, you know, you want dermaplaning legal in your group, go make it happen. Start a Facebook group, gather all your friends, you know, there's power in numbers and fight for it. Fight for it. Because you know, the fact that we're now allowed to do some of these other things has opened up so much income for estheticians in California. You know, and then that's, that's going to benefit you and the next generation. And you know, that it can be done and you

[00:59:41] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Okay. Invite us.

[01:00:07] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Athena will have you on.

[01:00:08] And I don't care if you have 50 people or 50, 000 people, you can still make a huge impact.

[01:00:13] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah, exactly.

[01:00:16] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I'm excited to see what all these people do this year.

[01:00:19] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Me too. Well, guys, we're going to end it there. This has been amazing. I love you, Libby. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be your friend. I'm so blessed. I'm so excited to see where we're going to go with our friendship and everything that we're both doing. And affecting the community. So where can everybody find you?

[01:00:39] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Okay. So my Instagram is at Libby Lazarus and then my Facebook group is the secrets of estheticians, which is for hairstylists, makeup artists, beauty school students, and, um, What's the other thing? Hairstylists, estheticians, makeup artists, and that's it. Four things.

[01:00:56] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mm hmm. Yeah.

[01:00:57] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: then, um, I have a podcast, the secrets of estheticians, which Athena has been on, she'll be on again. Um, those are the two main channels. Yeah.

[01:01:04] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Love it. And we're going to put it in the show notes too. So don't worry if you miss it, if you're listening, look at the show notes, this will be on YouTube. So we're going to put it down below too. We'll put all of your links, everything there. Um, so you can go follow Libby and if you want one on one coaching for Brazilian, the beast girl, right.

[01:01:20] And also she does now a consulting coaching program to where you can pick her brain for about what? 30 minutes to 50 minutes.

[01:01:29] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: it's 25 minutes, 75. And that's for people that don't want to, that just want to like, they've got questions and they want them now. And like, um, it's basically for people to, you know, ask whatever they want in the beauty industry and see if I can direct them. A lot of times I can just like, look at someone's Instagram and their website and be like, okay, this, you need, I did this last week.

[01:01:47] She didn't like what I had to say. Like, don't

[01:01:49] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: You're probably not going to like the answers, but you know what? We'll see you next week.

[01:01:52] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: answers cause it's going to be work. So that's why it says I'm. Like if you want real answers, like I'm going to look at it. I'm going to tell you what you're doing, what you're not doing. You can do whatever you want with it, but I'm not going to say your room looks great.

[01:02:01] You're doing great. Like if you're, you want, if you want to get better, then call me and we can set it up or you can do, it's on my,

[01:02:08] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Constructive criticism. Yeah.

[01:02:29] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: That's kind of why I started the group because I love referring people. Like, I just get off on helping other people. Um, I think partly because I was an actor before I was an esthetician. I have a bachelor's in drama that might explain a few things. And so when I was trying to be an actor, no one would help me. Okay. And like, I lived in LA, my parents were from LA. No, this is a million years ago. No one would help me. And so when I became an esthetician, whenever I saw an opportunity, like I can't stop it, like my mom and sister, like, stop answering, stop, ask, stop helping people stop answering questions, put

[01:02:57] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: I know, I'm like, get off your phone, why are you awake, lady? It's like 4 a. m. in California and you're like, answering questions.

[01:03:03] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Well, you know, this is the thing. It's like, you got to get up early if you have, you know, I'm still in the treatment room. So it's like, I have to get up early if I'm going to get shit done.

[01:03:11] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Yeah,

[01:03:11] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: like all of you, like, if you're like, Oh, I don't have time. We'll get up an hour earlier, you know, just get up

[01:03:16] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: you do have time. There's no excuse. You have time to get things done. You're just being lazy and undisciplined. That's it. Yeah. All right, ladies. We will see you next time on the Essie Bessie Tea Time. Bye, Libby.

[01:03:30] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: a picture. Wait, let me take a picture.

[01:03:32] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Okay, let's get our shirts in there, too. Yeah.

[01:03:38] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: me, I

[01:03:38] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Oh my gosh. Oh my god. I'm stuck in my chair. Oh,

[01:03:41] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I

[01:03:42] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: okay.

[01:03:42] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: see it. It's

[01:03:43] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: You see it?

[01:03:44] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: I can see

[01:03:45] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Mine?

[01:03:45] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: can't see your face.

[01:03:47] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Hang on. I gotta move. I'm just, I'm, uh, hang on. Hey.

[01:03:51] squadcaster-d57e_1_05-23-2024_084154: Okay. Wait, I don't know how, I don't think you're going to be able to see mine, but we can see yours. That's fine. Okay. So good.

[01:04:00] athena_1_05-23-2024_114154: Bye.
